BROWN, JR., Lore
Lore S. Brown, Jr., 74, of Presbyterian Retirement Home of Summerville, died Monday, December 24, 2001 at his residence.
Memorial services will be held at Summerville Presbyterian Church, Friday morning, December 28, 2001 at 11 o'clock. Burial will be private and held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Summerville Presbyterian Church, Building Fund, 407 S. Laurel Street, Summerville, S.C. 29483.
Mr. Brown was born on December 28, 1926 in Hamlet, N.C., a son of the late Lore S. Brown, Sr. and Betty Steed Brown. He graduated from Hamlet High School and NC State University in Raleigh, N.C. He worked in the trucking industry for 33 years starting with McLean Trucking Co. in Winston-Salem and then SeaLand Service in Elizabeth, N.J. before becoming a Stockbroker and Investment Advisor in 1982. He was an active member of Summerville Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Summerville Rotary Club. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Camp Brown of Summerville; niece, Wilhelmina Provost of Summerville; two nephews, Hugh Camp of Hartsville, S.C. and George M. Camp, Jr., of Columbia, S.C.; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Adele Camp, both of Hartsville, S.C.

PLEICONES, Michael
COLUMBIA - Funeral services for Michael James Pleicones, 85, will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Trisagion Prayers will being at 7 p.m., Friday, with visitation following until 9 p.m., at DUNBAR FUNERAL HOME, DEVINE STREET CHAPEL. Memorials may be made to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund, 1931 Sumter St., Columbia, S.C. 29201.
Mr. Pleicones died Wednesday, December 26, 2001. Born in New York City, he was a son of the late James George and Zafarie Camichos Pleicones. Mr. Pleicones was a retired grocer.
Surviving are his wife, Lecha Palassis Pleicones; a daughter and son-in-law, Frances P. and Bill Katsulis of West Peabody, Mass.; a son and daughter-in-law, the Honorable Costa and Donna Pleicones of Columbia; grandchildren, Michael Katsulis and his wife Carol of Rowley, Mass., Jennifer Humphrey and her husband Lindsey of East Hampstead, N.H., Sally Norrell and her husband David of Columbia, and Laura Pleicones of Rock Hill; and great-grandchildren, Max Norrell of Columbia, and Lauren Humphrey of East Hampstead, N.H. Mr. Pleicones was predeceased by two brothers, George and Peter Pleicones.

CAMPBELL, William
COLUMBIA - Funeral services for Dr. William Cox Campbell will be held Friday at 1 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church with burial following at Elmwood Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at DUNBAR FUNERAL HOME, DEVINE STREET CHAPEL. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, or the S.C. Comprehensive Breast Care Center, c/o Palmetto Health Foundation, 9 Richland Medical Park Dr., Suite 600, Columbia, S.C. 29203.
Dr. Campbell died Monday, December 24, 2001. Born in Houston, Texas, he was a son of Barbara Cox and the late James W. Campbell. Dr. Campbell was a graduate of Wofford College, and the Medical University of South Carolina, completing his residency in 1983. He was certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. He was a member of the American Medical Association, the South Carolina Medical Association, the Columbia Medical Society, and the Medical Journal Club.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon, was a Sunday School teacher, and was recently elected as an Elder Dr. Campbell was a member and the incoming Chairman of the Camellia Ball. He was an avid hunter and deep sea fisherman as well as a loving husband, father, son, and employer.
Surviving are his wife, Joanne Dukes Campbell; his son, William Bradley Campbell of Columbia; his daughter, Carolyn Anne Campbell of Columbia; his mother of Charleston; and a brother, James Bradley Campbell of Greenville. Dr. Campbell was predeceased by a sister, Cynthia Campbell Markham.

MILLER, Mary
HEMINGWAY, S.C. - Mary Avant Miller, 79, wife of George Sarvis Miller, died Tuesday, December 25, 2001.
Mrs. Miller was born in Hemingway, S.C., a daughter of the late Robert Derrick Avant and the late Agnes Cribb Miller. She was a homemaker, a member of the Center Baptist Church, WMU, and was a graduate of Hemingway High School.
Surviving are her husband, George Sarvis Miller of the home; three sons, Jimmy Miller of Charleston, S.C., Don Miller of Hemingway and John Taylor Miller of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughter, Betty Todd of Columbia, S.C.; brother, Johnson Avant of Georgetown, S.C.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, in the Center Baptist Church.
Burial, directed by MORRIS FUNERAL HOME, will be in the church cemetery.

BAKER, Virginia
AURORA, COLO. - Virginia (Lowe) Baker, 78, of Kiawah Island, Johns Island, S.C., died on December 21, at an Aurora, Colo., hospital. She was born at Leonia, New Jersey, daughter of the late John M. Lowe and Ardelia (Bisbee) Lowe. She was a graduate of Cornell University in New York where she was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority.
She resided in South Carolina for 17 years at Johns Island. She was a member of the Church of Our Savior. She volunteered for the Meals on Wheels Program and was the member of bridge groups.
She was a former resident of Barrington, Ill., where she had resided for 23 years. She was a Past President of the Women's Club and was a member of the Auxiliary for the Good Shepherd Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence C. Baker of Johns Island, S.C.; she is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Hyndman of Aurora, Colo., and Janet M. Baker of Lino Lakes, Minn. She was the sister of the late Frances Slater-Hammel. She is survived by two grandchildren, Rachel L. Hyndman and Douglas S. Hyndman.
A Funeral Service will be held at MORTIMER N. PECK - RUSSELL PECK FUNERAL HOME, 516 Washington St., Braintree, Mass., on Saturday, December 29, at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Marshfield Hills Cemetery, Mass. Visitation will precede the funeral service.
Memorial donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, Mass. 02140, or to your local Alzheimer's Association or to the charity of your choice.

ADRY, Bernard
Bernard S. Adry, 67, of Charleston, died Monday, December 24, at a local hospital. Born in Charleston to the late Aziz and Margaret Shahid Adry. Mr. Adry was a graduate of Bishop England High School, and also a graduate of the Citadel. Mr. Adry served his country in the United States Army. He was a late life member of the Elks Lodge #242. Mr. Adry is survived by two sisters, Arleen A. Kadri and husband John, and Lorice A. McMahon and husband Sidney both from Mt. Pleasant. An uncle Kelly A. Shahid of Charleston, three nieces, two nephews, and one great-nephew all survive him. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, December 27 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Retired Priest Fund, c/o Charleston Diocesan Office, 119 Broad St., Charleston, S.C. 29402, either to St. Judes Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105, or Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 888 King St., Charleston, S.C. 29403. GINN, SR., Robert
Mr. Robert Lee Ginn, Sr. of 715 Burnell Road near Estill, died Wednesday morning at his residence after an extended illness.

TURKNETT, Delores
Delores Dale "Dee" Willis Turknett, 47, formerly of North Charleston, died with her husband Gene in an auto accident Saturday evening in Charlotte, N.C. Her funeral service will be 2:00 o'clock Friday in Heritage Holiness Church, 3836 Ladson Rd., Ladson. Interment will be at Summerville Cemetery. Friends may call this evening (Thursday) from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL, DORCHESTER RD.
Dee was born in Charleston on May 13, 1954, the daughter of Catherine Bernard Willis of North Charleston and the late Louis Willis. She was a graduate of Garrett High School and was a member of the Country Connection Dance Team. She attended Heritage Holiness Church.
In addition to her mother, Dee is survived by her daughter, Summer Walsh of Summerville, her son, Shawn of Charleston, her brothers, Billy (Debbie) Willis of North Charleston, William (Kerren) Willis of Summerville, her sisters, Jean (David) Camp of Augusta, Mary Louise (Les) Holley of Summerville, and her uncle, Norman Powell of North Charleston.

TURKNETT, JR., Gene
Entered into eternal rest on the evening of December 22, 2001, Reginald Eugene Turknett, Jr., husband of Delores "Dee" Willis Turknett. Residence: Charlotte, North Carolina formerly of Summerville. The visitation, funeral and burial will be private.
Mr. Turknett was born in Jacksonville, Florida, a son of Reginald E. Turknett, Sr. and Dollie Mae Quick Hall. His passion was golf. He was a member of Oak Crest United Methodist Church.
He made a career with Jiffy Lube as a District Manager, serving the Charleston and Charlotte, N.C. areas.
Surviving are a son: Michael Eugene Turknett of Alabama; his father: Reginald E. Turknett, Sr., of Charleston, S.C.; his mother and step-father: Dollie M. and Otis C. Hall of Lynn Haven, Fla.; three sisters: Brenda Turknett Baker of Charlotte, N.C., Shanna Ruth Turknett of Charleston, S.C. and Nancy L. Hall Braun of Milton, Fla.; three brothers: William J. Turknett of S.C., James Hall of Lynn Haven, Fla. and Anthony Hall of Lynn Haven, Fla.; maternal grandmother: Majorie Hodge of Lynn Haven, Fla.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Charleston County Unit, 267 Calhoun Street, Charleston, S.C. 29404-3618.

PETERSON, JR., Howard
Howard C. Peterson, Jr. (Pete), died Saturday, December 22, 2001, in Stuart, Fla. He was a resident since 1970, having come from New Canaan, Conn. He had also lived in Charleston, S.C.
He spent summers on Chappaquiddick Island, on Martha's Vineyard.
He graduated from the Kiski School, class of 1930, and from Cornell University in 1934. He served in the U.S. Army 25th Artillery Regiment and retired as Captain. In 1994 he received the Army Certificate of Merit.
In 1972 he received the Environmental Protection Agency Certificate of Appreciation. "Pete" worked for St. Regis/Champion Paper Co. for many years, retiring to Florida in 1975.
Pallbearers will be William H. Bedell, Major General Ret. William H. Craig, Michael Crook, John Forester, Brig. General Ret. Wallace C. Magathaee Jr. and Dr. Edward B. Self.
Howard (Pete) Peterson's Clubs include, Edgartown Reading Room, Edgartown Yacht Club, Yacht & Country Club of Stuart, and Country Club of Charleston.
Survivors include his wife Sally A. Peterson, of Stuart, his son, Neil Peterson, of Seattle, Wash., his daughter, Judith S. Sappington and her husband Harold, of Bozeman, Mont., and his two grandchildren, Guy and Kelsey Peterson.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Stuart.
In lieu of other Remembrances donation can be made to the Kiski School, 1888 Brett Lane, Saltsburg, Pa. 15681, in his memory.

MCDANIEL, Betty
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Betty Sorrells McDaniel, 56, of 1719 Rosewell Dr., died Tuesday, December 25, 2001, at her residence.
Memorial services will be Saturday, December 29, 2001, at 11 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church, North Charleston, S.C. Interment will be private. Rev. Jack Deal will officiate.
Mrs. McDaniel was a native of Brevard, N.C., and formerly of Charleston, S.C. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Charleston, S.C., and worked as an account manager at Maersk-Sealand with 20 years of service. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McDaniel is survived by her husband, Marvin M. McDaniel of the home; her son, Christopher McDaniel of Charleston, S.C.; her daughter, Hope McDaniel Torres of Rock Hill, S.C.; her brothers, Clyde Sorrells, Jr., of Panama City, Fla., and Tommy Sorrells of Columbia, S.C.; her sisters, Helen Fischer of Easley, S.C., Rebecca Wykle, Dottie Scott and Joy Strickland, all of Brevard, N.C.
The family will receive friends after the memorial service in Charleston, S.C.

OLD, Craig
Craig James Old, 40 died Sunday, December 23, 2001 at Conway Hospital.
He was born February 16, 1961 in Naha, Okinawa and was raised in Birmingham, AL. He was a son of Joyce Old Morris and the late James Old, Jr.
Craig attended Fultondale High School in Birmingham and was retired from the United States Navy. He served on the USS Santa Barbara, USS Nicholas, NRD Columbia, NRD Atlanta, USS Sierra, and USS Halyburton. He was a veteran of the Persian Gulf War. After his retirement from the Navy, he was NJROTC instructor at North Myrtle Beach High School.
Craig was a member of the southern gospel group "The Red White Family" from Conway, SC, was a member of Masonic Lodge #65, and a member of Juniper Bay Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his mother and step-father, Jarold Morris of Moncks Corner, SC, include his wife, Barbara White Old of Conway, a son, Justin Old of Camden, SC, two brothers, Mark Old of Houston, TX and Sean Morris of Birmingham, a sister, Pat San Soucie of Birmingham, and two step-brother, Paul Morris of Elgin, SC and Wayne Morris of Jacksonville, FL.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 28 at Juniper Bay Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Thrower and Rev. T. C. Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-9:00 PM on Thursday, December 27 at the Family Worship Center at Juniper Bay Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Craig Old Memorial Fund, Red White Family Ministries, Conway National Bank, 1400-3rd Ave., Conway, SC 29526.
