CHAMBLIN, Jerry
Chief Petty Officer (Ret.) Jerry Edward Chamblin, 59, of 8347 Lodge Highway, Lodge, died Monday, December 24, 2001, at the Beaufort Naval Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held 2 o'clock Saturday, December 29, 2001 in the chapel of THE BRICE W. HERNDON & SONS FUNERAL HOME. Interment with full military honors, Cross Swamp United Methodist Church Cemetery in Islandton.
Mr. Chamblin was born June 23, 1942 in Jamestown, Ohio, and was a son of the late Ferlin and Hazel Robinson Chamblin. He became a carpenter when he retired after twenty years of active duty with the United States Navy.
Surviving are: His wife of thirty-six years- Barbara Ann Connelly Chamblin; two sons, James Chamblin and Chris Chamblin both of Lodge; a grandson, Brian Chamblin of Lodge; a granddaughter, Kimberly Chamblin of Lodge; a sister, Laura A. Gilmore of Greenfield, Ohio; four brothers, John Chamblin of Obetz, Ohio, David Chamblin of Mt. Orab, Ohio, Mike Chamblin of Springboro, Ohio, and George Chamblin of Seman, Ohio. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Louise Chamblin and Patricia June McRoberts.
Friends may call Friday evening 6:0 until 8:00 at the BRICE W. HERNDON & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1193 Bells Highway, Walterboro.

GINN, Robert
Mr. Robert Lee Ginn Sr. 84 of 715 Burnell Road near Estill, died Wednesday morning at his residence after and extended illness.
Mr. Ginn was born in Hampton County, November 1, 1917 a son of the late James Hansford Ginn and Renia Mason Ginn. He had retired from Westinghouse Corp. in Hampton after 30 years of service, and was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the 163rd Support Battalion of the South Carolina Army National Guard as a member of Battery D., 107 SEP Coast Artillery, from 1940 to 1945. He was member of the Nixville Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon from 1964 to 1988 and was an Honorary Deacon from 1988 to present. He also was the Teacher of the DeLacy Long Sunday School Class for many years, and served as Brotherhood and R. A. Director. He participated in Nursing Home Outreach Ministry at Harper Nursing Center in Estill for 20 years.
Surviving are: His Wife of 52 years: Hazel Padgett Ginn of Estill; Sons and daughter in laws: Robert Lee (Bobby) Ginn Jr. and Teresa Ginn of Estill; Rev. Ronald Ginn and Sylvia Ginn of Rose Hill, N.C.; Daughter and son in law: Mary Ginn Lightsey and Gene Lightsey of Estill; Three sisters: North Charleston; Grandchildren: Francis Lightsey, Stephanie Lightsey Horry Delana Lightsey, and Dustin Lightsey: Robby Ginn, Heather Ginn, and Jason Gin: and 2 great grandsons: Eric Horry Jr. and Gage Lightsey. There are several neices and nephews.
Funeral services will be 3 P.M. Friday in the Nixville Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Jimmy Roletter, Rev. Mike Fredrickson, and Rev. Ronald Ginn, with burial in the Church Cemetery directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME IN HAMPTON.
Friends may call at the Chapel in Hampton from 6 to 9 P. M. Thursday, and Friday until 2 P. M. when the casket will be placed in the church prior to services.

VANDORSTEN, Elizabeth
A private graveside service will be held for Elizabeth Jones VanDorsten, widow of John William VanDorsten, Saturday, December 29, 2001 in Roanoke, Virginia.

STEWARD, Tamer
Tamer Jones Steward, 76, died Sunday, December 23, 2001. The funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 29, 2001, in HAMILTON'S FUNERAL CHAPEL, WALTERBORO. Burial will be in McCune Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, Lodge, S. C.
Mrs. Steward was born in Colleton County and the daughter of the late Isaac and Mary Stephens Jones. She attended the public schools of Colleton County. She was a member of McCune Branch Baptist Church.
She was the widow of William Steward.
Surviving are: three children, Alton Steward of Summerville, Jerry Jones, of Lodge and James Murrell of Charleston; three sisters, Lottie Brown of Lodge and Peggy Garvin and Louree Garvin of Atlanta, Georgia; a brother-in-law, Johnnie Lee Garvin of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Emma Lee Jones of Lodge and Anna Jones of Atlanta, Georgia.

Simmons, Mrs. Mary Lee Benton, 53, of 525 Stinson Drive, Charleston, Died Wednesday, in a Charleston Hospital,. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday Dec. 29, at the BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME IN WALTERBORO.
Mrs. Simmons was born in Walterboro and was a daughter of Franklin J., Jr. and Bertha Jane Benton. She was a cashier.
Surviving are: A son Andrew B. "Andy" Crosby of Walterboro; a daughter Christina M. Simmons of Charleston; three brothers Larry Benton of Dorchester, Wayne Benton and Carl Benton, both of Walterboro; and a sister Kay Garrison of Union Grove AL.

STANLEY, Carol
Carol Edward Stanley, Sr., 66 died Thursday, December 27, 2001 at his home in Ridgeland, SC., after a long illness. He was born in Ridgeland, SC., on August 15, 1935; son of the late Raymond C. Stanley and Ella Searson Stanley.
He was the General Manager for MacKay Point Plantation for the past 28, years; member Coosawhatchie Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon; commissioner for Jasper County Soil and Water Conservation District; board member South Carolina Forestry and Wildlife Commission; former Chairman of the Board for Thomas Heyward Academy; presently served as ex-officio member; 2001 recipient of Sgt. Jasper Award; active member of Jasper County Community and served in many volunteer capacities.
He is survived by his wife, Jean C. Stanley of Ridgeland, SC., two sons and a daughter-in-law, C. Eddie Stanley, Jr., of Ridgeland, SC and Ronald J. and Linda Stanley of Ridgeland, SC., one daughter and son-in-law, Donna S. and Brian Dittman of Okatie, SC., one sister, Ann S. Smith of Grays, SC., two grandchildren and was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Stanley.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2001 in the Ridgeland Baptist Church, Ridgeland, SC., with burial in the Beaver Dam Cemetery in Grays, SC. GLOVER, Linda
Linda G. Glover, 52, of Charleston died Thursday, December 27, 2001 at a local hospital. She was a graduate of St. Andrews High School and attended Trident Technical College. She was born in Newport R. I. to the late Gene Gabrielli and Cecelia Guyton Gabrielli Clark. She was a longtime resident of Charleston, South Carolina and a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Mrs. Glover was a woman of many talents and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of thirty-one years, James R. Glover, two daughters, Melody Clark and Holly Glover, both of Charleston, SC., grandchildren, Christian Clark and Emily Clark of Charleston, SC., two brothers, David Gabrielli of Summerville and Chris Gabrielli of Charleston; sisters, Carolyn Wright of Mt. Pleasant, Marilyn Lowndes of Charleston, and Cheryl English of John's Island. She is also, survived by her step-father, Tommy Clark of Charleston and step-mother, Betty Gabrielli of Summerville. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 29, 2001 from 4-6 PM., at McALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Downtown Chapel, 150 Wentworth Street, Charleston, SC. 722-8371. WEBSTER, Jeanne
MULLINS, S.C. - Jeanne Hardwick Webster, 53, died Friday, December 28, 2001 at her residence after an illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 30 at Mullins First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Cedardale Cemetery, directed by COX-COLLINS FUNERAL HOME.
Jeanne was born July 24, 1948 in Marion County, a daughter of Zilphia "Zip" Martin Hardwick and the late John Lacy "J.L." Hardwick, Jr. Jeanne was a Registered Nurse with the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control, where she worked with Home Health Services and acted as school nurse for Palmetto Junior High. She was a graduate of Mullins High School and a graduate of the Greenville General Hospital School of Nurses. Jeanne was a member of Mullins First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class.
Surviving Jeanne in addition to her mother of Mullins are: 2 daughters: Ginger Ray of Mullins and Joni Webster of Florence; a grandson: Jamison Ray of Mullins; a sister: Susan Ford and her husband Travis of Lancaster; and 2 nephews: Spencer Ford and Cal Ford, both of Lancaster.

Born October 3, 1965 in Charleston, S.C., Mr. White was the son of Willis Austin White, Sr. and Gladys Prevatt White. He was self-employed as a floor refinisher and was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church of Goose Creek.
Mr. White is survived by his wife, Margaret Ann Walkins White of N. Charleston, his mother Gladys P. White of Orange Park, Florida, six sons, Kevin Boyd, Stephen White and Joey White, all of Hanahan, David White of Charleston, Michael Landis and Jonathan Landis, both of N. Charleston; two daughters, Stephanie Jensen of Logansport, Indiana and Evelyn Jensen of Great Lakes, Michigan; two sisters, Tina Wilkerson of Lawley, Florida and Linda White of Orange Park, Florida; a brother Tracey White of West Virginia and one grandchild.

GROOMS, Anthony
Anthony Jerome Grooms of Walterboro, S.C., formerly of Bamberg, S.C. died December 27, 2001 at a local Charleston hospital.
He was born on November 5, 1961 in Bamberg, S.C., a son of the late Marion Richard Grooms and Betty Gillam. He attended Bamberg Pentecostal Church. He was in the construction business as a carpenter.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 30, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. graveside at Southbend Cemetery, Bamberg, Rev. Larry Jones and Rev. John Carter officiating.
Survivors include his wife, 6 children, and 6 grandchildren all of Walterboro; one brother; one sister; and 3 nieces all of Greenwood S.C.

Born February 26, 1957 in Charleston, S.C., Ms. Martin was the daughter of Marshall Murrow and Ellaree Hornsby Murrow Hartman. She was a homemaker and was Baptist.
Ms. Martin is survived by her son, Tyler S. Martin, and her daughter, Amberly Paige Martin, both of Hanahan, a sister, Linda M. Knox and brother-in-law, Donald Knox of N. Charleston and her stepfather, William O. Hartman of Charleston.

Kristie Lynn Hughes, 31, of Charleston, SC., died Thursday, December 27, 2001 in Charleston, SC.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Saturday afternoon, December 29, 2001 at 4 o'clock. Burial will be in Summerville Cemetery.

Ms. Hughes was born on December 9, 1970 in Coffeyville, KS, a daughter of Joe Hughes and Victoria Hipps Hughes. She was a salesperson and member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
Survivors include her father, Joe Hughes of Summerville; her mother, Victoria Hughes of Santee, SC., her son, Ethan Judson Bain of Summerville; brother, Matthew B. Hughes of Summerville; two sisters, Emily H. Cullinan of Wilson, NC., and Tina Fletcher of Moncks Corner, SC., step-sister, Angie Pescod of Jacksonville, FL., maternal grandparents, Judson and Dottie Hipps, of Brevard, NC., paternal grandmother, Viola Hughes of Arnoldsville, GA., and her maternal great-grandmother, Geneva Sorrells of Asheville, NC.

Flora Davis, 78 of Goose Creek, wife of Ralph Henry Davis died Monday at her residence.
Services and burial will be private. Mrs. Davis was born on December 8, 1923 in Memphis, TN., a daughter of the late Louis W. Skelton and Myrtle Emma Thomas Skelton.
She was a homemaker and of the Catholic faith.

LOFTON, Gertrude
Gertrude Helen Lofton, 79 widow of James A. Lofton, died Wednesday, December 26, 2001 in a Tulsa Hospital. Graveside Funeral Services will held Saturday, December 29, 2001 at 3:00 P.M., in McCellanville United Methodist Church Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Carol Grant. Burial will be under the direction of GRAHAM FUNERAL HOME OF GEORGETOWN. She was born January 5, 1922 in Georgetown County, a daughter of the late Isaac Nelson and Iva Burgess. She was a missionary.Surviving are: Three sons, James Lofton and Samuel Lofton, both of Tulsa; Nelson Lofton of Springhill, Florida; one daughter, Iva Stalvey of Tulsa; one brother, Nelson Burgess of Tennessee; eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 P.M., Saturday at the funeral home.
