MIZELL, W. Kermit
ORANGEBURG - W. Kermit Mizell, 54, of 642 Hillsboro Road, Orangeburg, died Monday, December 31, 2001, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 3, 2002, in the First Baptist Church in Orangeburg with Dr. Terry Peele officiating. Interment with military rites will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Mizell was born in Summerville the son of Mrs. Parnice Atkins Mizell and the late Wesley Kermit Mizell. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia, and a retired consulting forester. He was also a retired Army Reservist having served in the Gulf War. He was a Mason, and was a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans. He attended the First Baptist Church, Orangeburg.
Survivors include his wife, Leigh Yeargin Mizell of the home; his mother of Harleyville; daughter, Casey Mizell Bober of Irmo; son, Matthew Kermit Mizell of Columbia; brother, John Harold Mizell of Ladson; granddaughter, Hannah Bober of Irmo; step-daughters, Jennifer Yeargin Cleveland of Greenville, and Brandy Yeargin of Columbia.
Friends may call at AVINGER FUNERAL HOME, from 6 to 8 p.m., this Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

RUTH, Raymond
Raymond M. Ruth, 57, former Director of Information Services at the Post & Courier died Monday, December 31, 2001, at a local hospital. Born February 13, 1944, in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of Melvin T. and Dorothy I. Ruth (nee Rehberger). Mr. Ruth served in the U.S. Army and had worked for the Washington Star, Hendrix Electronics, Compugraphics Corp. and Univac. He is survived by his wife Paula Ruth (nee Pavlick); son Sean Ruth, Savannah, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Michael Vaughn and grandson Chris Vaughn, all of Summerville; his parents Melvin T. and Dorothy I. Ruth, Baltimore, Md.; three brothers, Thomas Ruth, John Ruth, and James Ruth all of Baltimore, Md., and sister, Christine Lorber, Baltimore, Md. His brother Matthew Ruth preceded him in death. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 4, 2002, at 10 a.m., at the Church of the Nativity, 1061 Folly Road, James Island. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. A vigil service will begin at 6 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8 p.m., Thursday, January 3, 2002, at MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 150 Wentworth St. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 215 East Bay St., Suite 204, Charleston, S.C. 29401.

Entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 1, 2001, Mr. Aaron "Son" Ferguson of Moncks Corner, S.C., the beloved father of Mrs. Cecil W. Williams of Bronx, N.Y., Mrs. Gloria J. Simpson, Mrs. Soinya F. Holliday both of Moncks Corner, S.C., Mrs. Gail F. Lydian of Powder Springs, Ga., Mr. Reginald R. Ferguson of Columbia, S.C., and Ms. Crystal Iashia Ferguson of St. Stephen, S.C., the beloved brother of Mr. Russell Levaine, Mr. Charles Pressley, Jr., Ms. Louise Washington, Mrs. Robena P. Alfree George Anderson, 83, widow of Andrew Patrick Anderson, of Summerville, S.C., died December 30, 2001 in a local hospital.

He was a route salesman with Ruth's Salads and also served in the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by his wife of Charleston, S.C.; one son, James Theodore Harding, Jr. of Charleston, S.C.; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Harding of Charleston, S.C.; one step-son, Eric C. Ford of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Michael C. Harding of Summerville, S.C. and Cecil Harding of Summerville, S.C.; two sisters, JoAnne Nease of Summerville, S.C. and Brenda Fortner of Greenville, S.C.

Roberta Hilburn Brown, 61, died on the morning of December 31, 2001. The funeral service will be conducted 2 o'clock, Thursday, January 3, 2001, in Sullivan's Island Baptist Church. Entombment will follow at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MT. PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Mrs. Brown was born in Charleston on August 5, 1940, the daughter of William R. and Mae Wimberly Hilburn. She was a graduate of Charleston High School and was a retired accountant with WCIV-TV. She was a longtime active member of Sullivan's Island Baptist.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Debra (Ray) Dawson of Augusta, Ga., and Denise (Willard) Hair of Atlanta, her son and daughter-in-law, Robert G. (Christina) Brown, Jr. Roberta is also survived by seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and her sisters, Jean Mims of Mt. Pleasant, and Delores Miles of Atlanta.
Memorials are suggested to Sullivans Island Baptist Church, 1753 Central Ave., Sullivan's Island, S.C. 29482 or the American Cancer Society, Lowcountry Chapter, 5900 Core Road, North Charleston, S.C. 29406.

BROOKMAN, Delois
Delois I. Armstrong Brookman, 83, of Summerville, widow of Albert N. Brookman, formerly of Gilroy, California, died Tuesday morning, January 1, 2002 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon, January 5, 2002 at 2 o'clock in Habing Mortuary Chapel, Gilroy, California. Entombment will be in Gavilan Hills Memorial Park.
Friends may call at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, Summerville, from 5 until 7 o'clock this evening.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Miles Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 816 Mile Road, Summerville, S.C. 29485.
Born on September 4, 1918 in Howe, Oklahoma, a daughter of the late Charles N. and Lucy Armstrong.
She was a member of New Hope Community Church, in Gilroy, Calif. She attended Miles Road Baptist Church. She was a member of the Teamsters Union. She was a retired Supervisor with Cal Can.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Robert C. Gotterba of Summerville; son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Joann Brookman of Littleton, Colo.; sisters, Helen Bertsch of Hemet, Calif., Oliver Fowler of Seaside, Calif., Fay Fullen of Wister, Okla., Ann Bell and Jane Story of Midwest City, Okla.; brothers, Bill Armstrong of Ennes, Tex., Bob Armstrong of Fresno, Calif., Charles Armstrong of DelCity, Okla.; six grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

SETSER, Linda
Linda (Bates) Setser of Goose Creek, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2002. She was the mother of Scott and Stephanie Bates, grandmother of Trey Bates, sister of 11 brothers and sisters in Illinois; ex-husband Bruce Bates of Summerville. She was preceded in death by daughter, Tracy Bates, and parents, Harold and Dolly Fowler.

Mrs. Susann "Susie" McAlhaney, 92, of Varnville, died Tuesday morning in a Beaufort hospital after an extended illness.

Mrs. Huxford was born Sept. 16, 1935, in Bonneau, S.C., a daughter of Jake Hood and Myrie Guerry Hood. She is the widow of Jack Russell Huxford. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Rusty and and Donna Huxford of Moncks Corner; and a grandson, Jake Huxford.

WRIGHT, Nielie
