Sammie G. Craigo
born in Greenville on Jun. 10, 1931
Died on Aug. 12, 2005 and resided in Greenville, SC.

Sammie G. Craigo, 74, of 108 Sulphur Springs Drive, died Friday, August 12, 2005.
born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Fleet and Annie Swann Craigo.
He was retired from Fiber Industries and was a 1951 graduate of Parker High School, where he played football. Mr. Craigo was a member of Monaghan Baptist Church and a member of Monaghan Lodge No. 251 A.F.M. He served in the U.S. Army (Signal Corps) in the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Jones Craigo; a daughter, Diane Webb and husband, Jimmy, of Gray Court; two sons, Gregory Craigo and wife, Linda, and Ronnie Craigo, all of Greenville; and two grandchildren, Lora Webb and Kevin Webb and wife Tabatha.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.
Services will be Monday at 3:00 p.m. at Monaghan Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry S. Dillworth and Rev. Gene Lloyd officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, West.
Memorials may be made to Monaghan Baptist Church, 1500 W. Parker Rd., Greenville, SC 29617 or VISTACARE, 4006 E. North St., Greenville, 29615
The family is at the residence.

Joyce Anderson Gentry
born in Galax, VA on Jun. 29, 1942
Died on May 12, 2005 and resided in Greenville, SC.

Joyce Anderson Gentry, 62, widow of Wiley 'Buck' Gentry went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 12, 2005.
She was employed by Greenville County Schools as a special education clerk for fifteen years.
Mrs. Gentry was devoted to her church. She has been a member of Monaghan Baptist Church for twenty-five years.
Surviving are her daughters, Ellen and husband Christopher Cash of Simpsonville; and Jenny and husband Chris Culbertson of Greenville. She has three grandchildren, Malachi Cash, Caitlin and Carleigh Culbertson. She has a sister, Judy Lotts, of Mooresville, NC and a brother, Neil Anderson, of Galax, VA.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2005 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Monaghan Baptist Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Omit flowers. Memorials may be made to Monaghan Baptist Church, 1500 West Parker Road, Greenville, SC 29617.
The family will be at the residence.

Evelyn Lee "Jeri" Paxton
born in Lake Toxaway, NC on Apr. 18, 1939
Died on May 9, 2005 and resided in Anderson, SC.

Evelyn 'Jeri' Lee Paxton, of 1 York Circle, passed away May 09, 2005 at Anderson Area Medical Center.
born in her parent's home in Lake Toxaway, NC on April 18, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Hosea and Evelyn Dean Lee.
Jeri was a loving wife, devoted mother and valuable friend to many.
She is survived by her husband Edward H. Paxton of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Angela P. and Stone Moss of Anderson; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark E. and Chantelle Paxton of Greenville; three grandchildren, Killian Drayton, and Hayes Paxton; and a sister, Melissa Lee Potts of Etowah, NC.
She was a graduate of Rosman High School class of 1957.
Jeri spent her early married life in various US locations as Edward worked as an Engineer. In the early 1960's she and Edward settled in Greenville, SC where they began their family.
Jeri raised her children and volunteered and worked with the Greenville County School District. She then went on to pursue a professional career with Mutual and United of Omaha. As a top national producer she gained the respect of many, but made lasting friendships with more.
Jeri then became a caregiver for others, most recently her mother of Hendersonville, NC.
Moving back to SC to be with her family, she passed away in Anderson, SC on May 9, 2005. Please remember her and her family in your prayers and send memorials in her name to the charitable organization of your choice.
Graveside services will be conducted at Lake Toxaway Baptist Church cemetery on Saturday, May 14, 2005 at 4:00 PM with a visitation to follow at October's End, Lake Toxaway, NC. A visitation will be held Thursday, May 12, 2005 from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, 639 N. Main Street, Greenville, SC 29602, 864-232-6733.

Robert Sayres Deatrick
born in Columbus, OH on Aug. 22, 1917
Died on May 9, 2005 and resided in Greenville, SC.
Robert S. Deatrick, dear husband of Margaret B. Deatrick, of 275 Commonwealth Drive, Greenville, passed away at Richard M. Campbell VA Nursing Home in Anderson on May 09, 2005. The Deatricks were married in 1943.
Mr. Deatrick, 87, born in Columbus, OH on August 22, 1917, was the son of the late Robert S. and M. Gladys B. Deatrick. He was preceded in death by his brothers, William B. and Chadwick T. Deatrick.
A WWII United States Army Captain, Mr. Deatrick served in the European Campaign and was honorably discharged from the Army in 1946. He worked for over forty years in New York City for Fleischmann Distilling of Standard Brands, Inc. serving as the company comptroller for many years. He retired in 1982. After residing 36 years in Dumont, NJ., the Deatricks divided their retirement years between New York and Florida before settling in Greenville in 2004. Mr. Deatrick was an avid reader, walker, bowler, and crossword puzzle enthusiast until his health declined.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Deatrick is survived by children Nancy D. LaRocca and husband John of Medusa, NY, Marilyn D. Knoblauch and husband Peter of Greenville and son William C. Deatrick and wife Kathleen of Aurora, IL. The Deatricks have nine grandchildren, Michael Knoblauch (wife B.J.) of GA, Patricia Knoblauch, Scott Knoblauch, David Knoblauch (wife Lori) all of Greenville, Mark LaRocca (wife Nina), Elizabeth Whiteman (husband Robert) of NY, Christine Deatrick and John Deatrick both of Chico, CA., and Meghan Deatrick of IL. There are also seven great-grandchildren, John, Katherine, and Matthew Knoblauch, Sophie and Ellie Whiteman, Kibo LaRocca, and Rachel Knoblauch.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mr. Deatrick to the Upstate South Carolina Alzheimer's Association, 301 University Ridge, Suite 5000, Greenville, SC 29601.
Visitation will be held Thursday May 12, 2005 from 3:00 until 5:00 PM at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Services will follow at 7:30 PM in the funeral home chapel.

Jay Terry Hollifield, Jr.
born in Asheville, NC on Feb. 12, 1947
Died on May 8, 2005 and resided in Rock Hill, SC.

Jay Terry Hollifield, Jr., 58, husband of Rebecca Hamilton Hollifield, of Rock Hill, died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at Piedmont Regional Medical Center, Rock Hill, SC.
born in Asheville, NC, he was the son of Margaret Chapman Hollifield of Greenville and the late Jay Terry Hollifield, Sr.
Mr. Hollifield was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School and Greenville Technical College. He worked for Systems and Services, Inc. in addition to owning Hollifield Upholstery Supply.
Mr. Hollifield was a member of Travelers Rest United Methodist Church. As a young man, he was an active lifeguard and Boy Scout, where he earned the God and Country Award - the highest honor given to a Boy Scout.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are three daughters: Amy Wright and her husband, Rob, and Amanda Hollifield, all of Greenville; and Emily Hollifield of Baton Rouge, LA; a son, Brian Hollifield and his partner, Weylin Brown; and a sister, Dr. Lucinda Hollifield, all of Greenville.
Mr. Hollifield took great pride in the accomplishments of his wife and children. Each child was special to him in his or her own unique way, and he appreciated greatly the gift of being their father. He will be greatly missed by his loving four-legged companion, Scout.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Greenville, 16A Brozzini Court, Greenville, SC 29615 or to Travelers Rest United Methodist Church, Balcony Fund, 19 S. Main Street, Travelers Rest, SC 29690.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2005 from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2005 at 1:30 PM in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Amy Wright, 516 Imperial Drive, Greenville.

Sharon Elizabeth Barbare

Sharon Elizabeth Barbare, 51, of 815 Edwards Road, died Saturday, May 7, 2005 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
born in Greenville, Miss Barbare was the daughter of Marion Daniel Barbare and the late Harold Bernard Barbare, Sr. She was the President of Marion Barbare Company, Inc. and a graduate of Clemson University. She was a Master Gardener and a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a sister, Donna B. Sprouse and her husband, Bucky, of West Springs, SC, and her brother, Daniel P. Barbare and his wife, Judy of Greenville. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold B. Barbare, Jr. and a sister, Carol Barbare.
The funeral Mass will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2005. The Recitation of the Rosary will be held at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 with visitation following until 8:30 p.m. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society of Greenville County, 113 Mills Avenue, Greenville, SC 29605 or Prince of Peace Catholic Church Building Fund, 1209 Brushy Creek Road, Taylors, SC 29687. The family will be at the home of her mother, 7 Howell Circle.

Zola Sarah McCarter
born in Cosby, TN on Apr. 10, 1912
Died on May 8, 2005 and resided in Greenville, SC.

Rev. Zola Sarah McCarter, 93, of 4 West Avenue went home to be with the Lord on May 8, 2005.
born in Cosby, TN, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Matilda Lindsey McCarter. She was employed with Judson Mill, Milliken and Co, for 52 years. She pastored Faith Tabernacle of Greenville for 20 years. In 1970, she organized Crosswell Apostolic Church in Easley, where she pastored until her retirement in 1995. Her memory will live on in the lives of the many people she touched through her ministry.
She was the second youngest and the last surviving member of her immediate family of 12 children. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family wishes to express special thanks to her caregivers.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel with burial in Graceland cemetery, West. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The family is at the residence.

Fernando Beltran
Una, SC
Fernando Beltran Vargas, 34, of 125-A Edgewood, died as a result of injuries received while working in Greenville County on Tuesday, May 11, 2004. He was the husband of Erika Lopez Beltran.
Mr. Beltran was a native of Mexico and was a son of Francisco and Carlota Vargas Beltran. He was employed as a concrete finisher.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by daughters: Laura Itzal Beltran of the home and Stephanie Beltran of Sanford, NC; sons: Fernando Beltran of the home and Alfredo Beltran of Sanford, NC; sisters: Carmen Beltran of Houston, TX, Loretta Beltran of Mexico, Anna Beltran of Houston, TX, Guillermina Beltran of Mexico; brothers: Antonio Beltran of Nashville, TN and Octavio Beltran of Houston, TX.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2004 at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs.
Final services will be conducted in Mexico at a later date.
