Opal Lee Crowe
WALHALLA — Miss Opal Lee Crowe, 63, formerly of Oconee County, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at the Whitten Center in Clinton, SC.
A native of Oconee County, Miss Crowe was the daughter of the late James Locksley and Dollie Cornelia Orr Crowe. She was a member of Flat Shoals Baptist Church.
Survivors include:
Brothers: Harold Crowe Walhalla, SC
Nelson Crowe Walhalla, SC
Sister: Christine Owens Walhalla, SC
Graveside services will be conducted at 3:30 PM Thursday, May 22, 2003 at the Flat Shoals Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family is at their respective homes.

Timothy John Bennett
WALHALLA---Timothy John Bennett, 56, husband of Kathy Jean Jessmer Bennett, of 260 Snead Road, died Monday, May 19, 2003 at the VA Medical Center in Ashville, NC.
A native of Morristown, NY Mr. Bennett was the son of the late Walter and Florence Preston Bennett. He was a retired US Marine and a member of the American Legion. Mr. Bennett was also a member of Knights Templar and Golden Dawn.
In addition to his wife, survivors include:

Timothy Bennett, II Walhalla, SC
Daughters: Kathy Jean Bennett New Haven, Conn.

Sister: Loretta Sitar Syracuse, NY
Four grandchildren
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 22, 2003 at the Bennett Family cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-9:00 PM on Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at the residence.

Bobbie Jean Watkins
Westminster, SC—Bobbie Jean Smith Watkins, 57, wife of Steve D. Watkins, of 400 Highland Avenue, Westminster, SC died Saturday, May 17, 2003 at her residence.
A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Watkins was the daughter of. The late Gentry P. and Ruby Marie Gunn Smith. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by:

Also survived were 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 5 step-grandchildren
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at Clearmont Baptist Church with burial to follow in Heritage Memorial Gardens.
The body is at the residence, 400 Highland Avenue, Westminster, SC, and will be placed in the church at 1:30 PM Tuesday prior to the service..

James L. Hoch
Salem --- James L. Hoch, 71, husband of Janis Essenpreis Hoch, of 16 Marina Village died Thursday, May 15, 2003 at the Oconee Memorial Hospital.
A native of Oswego, Illinois, he was the son of the late Ernest L and Matilda Sclultz Hoch.
Mr. Hoch was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, worked for Standard Oil Company (Amoco) until 1976 then became affiliated with Oswego Grain Co. until his retirement in 1992. He was a volunteer fireman for 20 years and became a commissioner from 1976 to 1992. Mr. Hoch was a member of the United Methodist Church and a Life Member of the American Legion Post #675.
In addition to his wife, survivors include:
Sons: James L. Hoch, Palatine, Ill.
Jeffery Hoch, Oswego, Ill.
Daughter: Jeanne Hoch, Oswego, Ill.

Jim Hoch
Ryan Hoch

Jennifer Hoch
Jason Hoch
In addition to his parents, a grandson, Christopher Hoch and brother, Donald Hoch predeceased him.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 PM May 22, 2003 McKeow-Dunn Funeral Home in Oswego, Illinois with inurnment in Lincoln Memorial Park on May 23, 2003 at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Good Shepherd, Oswegoland Heritage Association or charity of ones choice.

Lola Mae Bagwell
WEST UNION --- Lola Mae Shead Bagwell, 83, wife of the late Marion Ivy Bagwell, of 318 Torrington Road, died Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at her residence.
A native of Lavonia, Georgia, Mrs. Bagwell was the daughter of the late Charlie W. and Emma Hall Shead. She was a homemaker and was of the Church of God faith.
Survivors include:

Daughter: Barbara Ann Cutchen West Union, SC
Brother: Jay Shead Salem, SC
Sisters: Rosa Jefferson West Union, SC
Eunice Winkler West Union, SC
Cecil Wilson West Union, SC
Frances Spurlock West Union, SC
Also survived were three grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, brothers, John and Marvin Shead and sisters, Maude Neal and Glenda Popham predeceased Mrs. Bagwell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 15, 2003 from the Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Oconee Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00PM Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at the funeral home.
The family is at the residence.

Herbert Ray Fowler
Seneca --- Herbert Ray Fowler, 75, husband of the late Bonnie Jean Fowler, of 130 Redland Ranch Road, died Monday May 12, 2003 at his residence.
A native of Oconee County, Mr. Fowler was the son of the late William Derrill and Ollie Kelley Fowler. He was a retired accountant and a member of the Seneca Masonic Lodge #185.
Mr. Fowler was a US Army Veteran of WWII and the Korean War.
Survivors include:
Son: William Howard Fowler Goldsboro, NC
Daughters: Margaret Fowler Forrester Westminister, SC
Carol Fowler Anderson Walhalla, SC
Sister: Martha Ann Medford Walhalla, SC
Also survived were nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his wife and parents, two brothers and one sister predeceased him.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Wednesday, May 14, 2003 from the Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Oconee Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 13 2003 at the funeral home.
Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca, SC 29672.
The family is at the residence.

Gerald Woodrow Kirby
SENECA --- Gerald Woodrow Kirby, 60, of 270 Campbell Bridge Road died Monday, May 12, 2003.
A native of Greenville County, Mr. Kirby was the son of the late Willie Woodrow and Nancy Constance Cox Kirby. He was a retired employee of the Clemson University Agricultural Department and a member of Friendship Methodist Church. Mr. Kirby was a US Marine Veteran and a member of the VFW Seneca Chapter.
Survivors include:

Sister: Delores Kirby Campbell Seneca, SC
A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 PM Friday May 16, 2003 at the Friendship Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
The family is at the home of Delores Campbell, 130 Planters Drive, Seneca, SC

Danny Edward Rogers
SENECA, SC -- Danny Edward Rogers, 30, of 310 Airport Road, Seneca, SC died Friday, May 9, 2003.
A native of Alaska, Mr. Rogers was the son of Barbara Ann Hopkins Rogers of Seneca and the late Roy Randolph Rogers. He was an employee of Cry-O-Vac and was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Rogers is survived by:

Graysan Rogers Seneca, SC
Sisters: Mary Ann Moore Salem, SC
Sharon Martin Walhalla, SC
Grandmother: Lillian Rogers Seneca, SC
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 13, 2003 from the Chapel of Davenport Funeral Home with burial to follow in Oconee Memorial Park.
The body is at Davenport Funeral Home where the family will receive frinds from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Monday, May 12, 2003.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorials Processing Center, PO Box 10794, Greenville, SC 29603.
The family is at the residence of his mother, Barbara Ann Rogers, 21 Gammel Street, Seneca, SC.

William Noah "Bill" Burley
Walhalla, SC --- William Noah ”Bill” Burley, husband of Kathleen Whitten Burley, of 849 West Bearswamp Road, Walhalla, SC died Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at his residence.
A native of Oconee County, Mr. Burley was the son of the late Ira Leonard and Irene James Burley. He was the former owner and operator of Midway Grocery and a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Mr. Burley served in the US Marine Corps several years and during World War II. He was a member of the Purple Heart Club, Walhalla VFW Post, and the Lewis E. Blanchett American Legion Post #124.
In addition to his wife of the home, Mr. Burley is survived by:
Daughter: Brenda Musick and husband Tim Chapin, SC
Brother: Dick Burley and wife Nan Walhalla, SC
Sister: Margie Kelley Toccoa, GA
Grandchildren: Ryan Musick Garberville, CA

Angela Dioguardi and husband George Norfolk, VA
William N. Burley III Kill Devil Hills, NC
Great-Grandchild: George Michael Dioguardi
In addition to his parents, Mr. Burley was predeceased by a son, William N. Burley Jr., three brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 8, 2003 at St. Luke United Methodist Church with burial to follow with military rites in Oconee Memorial Park.
The body is at Davenport Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 10:00 AM Thursday, where the family will receive friends from 10-11:00 AM prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 607 East Main Street, Walhalla, SC 29691.
The family is at the residence.
