The last religious rites for Mrs. Alma K. Simmons will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2001, 11:00 a.m. at Baum's Temple AME Zion Church, Rev. George E. McKain, II, Pastor. Interment Brownsville cemetery. Her daughters, Verdell (Leroy) Glover, Beatrice Henderson, Virginia (Marshall) Ketchens, Margaret Boone, Geraldine (Ernest) Moultrie; niece, Courtland (William) Mackey; daughter-in-law, Gladys Simmons Suddeth; son-in-law, Nathan Nolan; sister-in-law, Julia Viola Kitchen; request her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends to attend with them these last rites. Mrs. Simmons will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. There will be no viewing following services. MCDANIEL, Virginia
Mrs. Virginia Walker McDaniel, entered into eternal rest on Monday morning, October 8, 2001 at her home. She is the beloved wife of Alonzo (Clarence) McDaniel; mother of Lawrence Walker (Sylvia), Drucilla McKelvey, Marian McDaniel and Sargeant Major Alfred R. McDaniel; sister of Buster Walker (Evelina), Arthur Lee Backman (Gloria), Louise Prioleau (George, Sr), Romeo Richardson (Betty), Bernard Richardson, Irvin Richardson (Anna Mae), Prince Richardson, Octavia Richardson, Peggy Pinckney (Leroy) and Mildred Joan Deleston; grandmother of Clarence B. Shepherd, Cheryl M. Elliott (Brian), Delores E. Collins (Delbert), Kelly R. Davis (Reginald), Anthony Shepherd, Karen M. McCray (Billie Ray), Tara V. McDaniel (Mark) and Margaret White.

JUSTUS, Donna
Gaston, S.C. Mrs. Donna C. Justus, age 58 of Gaston, S.C. died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001. Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church near North with Rev. Roger C. Goupil, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Justus was born in Jefferson, N.C., a daughter of the late Bynum W. Jones and Rachel Pennington Jones. She was retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Gaston.
Survivors including her husband: Bobby Justus of Gaston; daughter: Lesha Justus of Gaston; son: Paul Justus of Gaston; sisters: Ruth Rosenbaugh and Gaynelle Davis, both of Marion, VA., Joanna Wolfe of Meadowview, VA., Helen Bard of West Jefferson, N.C. and Mary Jones of Centreville, VA., one brother: Howard Jones of Warrenton, VA., grandchildren: Jason Justus,
Tarah Justus and Jordan Justus, all of Gaston.
The family is at the home, 124 Herschel St. in Gaston and will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at CULLER-McALHANY FUNERAL HOME in North.

WILLIAMS, Derrill
The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Derrill Fulton Williams are invited to attend the memorial services of the former Wednesday morning, October 10, 2001 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL at Eleven-thirty o'clock. Burial will be private. Friends may call at Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel Wednesday morning from Ten-thirty o'clock until time of service.

REYNOLDS, Edith
MANNING - Mrs. Edith W. Reynolds, widow of Preston Reynolds, 83, died Monday in a Manning hospital. Mrs. Reynolds was born in Mississippi, a daughter of Annie Manning and William Walker. She attended school in Mississippi and was a home nurse for many years. Mrs. Reynolds was a member of Lane Baptist Church.
Survivors include, two daughters, Evelyn Copeland of Braxton, Miss., Elsie Grace Walters (Skippy) of Manning; one son, Corbit Reynolds of Mill Springs, N.C.; one sister, Merle Williams of Terry, Miss.; two grandchildren, P.J. Tobias of Manning and Donyele Gamble of Greeleyville; one great-grandchild, Briyele Gamble.
Funeral services will be held Thursday in the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel at a time to be announced later, with burial to follow in Kingstree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors, Wednesday at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. The family asks that memorials be made to the Alzheimers Association.

JASPER, Barbara
Entered into eternal rest on October 7, 2001, Mrs. Barbara Ann Johnson Jasper, the beloved sister of Dorothy Louise (Tootie) Johnson, Timothy Johnson, Marie Johnson and Olando Dale Johnson. HOLBROOK, Harold
Harold Arthur Holbrook, age 46, of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Ridgeville, S.C., died October 8, 2001, at Hospice of Palm Beach County, after an extended battle with cancer.
Harold was born in Evanston, Ill., on October 11, 1954, to Nancy Joan Holbrook and the late Harold Williamson Holbrook.
He attended Southboro Elementary, Conniston Middle, graduated in 1972 from Forest Hill High School and North Tech Educational Center.
August 1974, Harold enlisted in the United States Navy. Served 20 years in the Submarine Service. When he retired in August 1994, he held the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
Harold then went to work for J.B. Hunt Trucking in Alabama as a driver, later Bulldog Trucking and D&P; Trucking in Charleston, S.C.
Harold enjoyed fishing, SCUBA diving, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
He was a member of the Ridgeville Volunteer Fire Department from April 1989, until July 2001.
Active in church activities at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Summerville, S.C., where he was a communicant. In West Palm Beach he attended Holy Spirit Episcopal Church.
Harold is survived by his mother, Nancy Holbrook, West Palm Beach, his brother, Robert Charles Holbrook Stuart, and sisters, Sally Ann Haynes, W.P.B., and Mary Suzanne (Arthur) Kratka, Hayward, Calif., nephews, Robert Charles, II, Scott, and Alan, nieces, Christina, Jennifer, Amanda, and Kathryn, grandniece, Savannah, and uncles, aunts, and cousins.
A memorial service will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 1003 Allendale Road, West Palm Beach, on Thursday, October 11, at 7 p.m. The Rev. Hallock Martin, officiating.
There will be a memorial service at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Summerville, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Harold's memory to Holy Spirit Episcopal Church; St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 111 Waring St., Summerville, S.C. 29483; or Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, Fla. 33407.

CHERRY, Jim
COLUMBIA - Services for Jim Marion Cherry, 93, will be held Thursday at 3 p.m., at First Baptist Church, Boyce Chapel, Columbia. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at DUNBAR FUNERAL HOME, DEVINE STREET CHAPEL. Memorials may be made to the Baptist Foundation of South Carolina, 190 Stoneridge Dr., Columbia, S.C. 29210, the Methodist Manor of the Pee Dee, 2100 Twin Church Road, Florence, S.C. 29501, or to the South Carolina Lions Eye Bank, 110 Medical Circle, West Columbia, S.C. 29169.
Mr. Cherry, husband of the late Anne Dyer Cherry, to whom he was married for 64 years, died October 8, 2001. born July 2, 1908, in Sumter, S.C., he was the son of Martha Orilee Thomasson Cherry and Robert Stough Cherry. He was a graduate of Sumter High School and earned an A.B. Degree in English from Furman University in 1929. He later received the M.Ed. Degree from Teachers College, Columbia University, where he also pursued additional graduate study.
He was a school administrator in Edgefield County and later was Superintendent of the John DeLa Howe School in McCormick, S.C. In 1945, he moved to Columbia, where he lived until 1992, when he and his wife entered a retirement home in Florence. He served as Director of Public Relations for the South Carolina Education Association, Superintendent and Business Manager of the South Carolina Area Trade Schools, Chief of the Division of the Blind for the S.C. Department of Public Welfare, and President of the Baptist Foundation of South Carolina.
He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Columbia, where he was Chairman of the Board of Deacons, Sunday School Superintendent, and teacher of the Jim Cherry Bible Class. His civic activities included positions as District Governor of Lions International and as International Director from 1961 to 1963. He was also a Director of the South Carolina Cancer Society, President of the South Carolina State Employees Association, and a Director of the S.C. Rehabilitation Association. He was a member of the S.C. Lions Sigh Conservation Association Board, the YMCA Board, and Chairman of the Board of Ocean City Life Insurance Company.
He is survived by four sons, Jim Marion Cherry, Jr., of Kingstree, George William Cherry and Robert Bernard Cherry of Sumter, and Charles Maurice Cherry of Greenville; one sister, Bleka Anita Cherry Kolb of Liberty, S.C.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters.

COOPER, Paul
The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Cooper of Lugoff, S.C., formerly of Moncks Corner, S.C., are invited to attend the funeral services for the former, 11 a.m., this Wednesday morning, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. HABERSHAM, James
The relatives and friends of Mr. James Habersham are invited to attend his funeral services on Thursday, October 11, 2001, 2 p.m., at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Highway 17 North (at I526), Mount Pleasant, S.C. Rev. Parker Mitchell, Pastor. Interment, church cemetery.
Mr. Habersham is survived by his wife, Mrs. Genevieve E. Habersham, his children, Mr. Timothy Allen Habersham, Ms. Kendal Yvette Habersham, Ms. Christina M. Habersham, and Ms. Tajuana Harrison, four grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Mrs. Victoria H. Stokes (Rev. Robert), Mrs. Lillian Washington, Mrs. Cora Gadsden (Melvin), Mr. Leon Simmons, and Mr. Eugene Smalls, his mother-in-law, Mrs. Albertha Ellis, four aunts, one uncle, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Viewing for Mr. Habersham will be at the William M. Smith Memorial Chapel, 2 Radcliffe St., Charleston, S.C., on Wednesday, October 10, 2001, from 12 to 7 p.m., and at the church on Thursday, October 11, 2001, from 12:30 until time for funeral services. "There will be no family hour."

DRIGGERS, Sr., Phillip
Phillip Driggers, Sr., 81, of Summerville, S.C., died Monday, October 8, 2001, at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held at Ridge Baptist Church on Thursday afternoon, October 11, 2001, at 12 noon. Burial will be held at Plantation Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at PARKS FUNERAL HOME, SUMMERVILLE, S.C., this Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 o'clock and at the church one hour prior to service.
Mr. Driggers was born on November 26, 1919, in Summerville, a son of the late Charlie and Nattie Driggers. He was a retired carpenter for Carolina Ladder. he was a member of Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Burbage Driggers of Summerville; daughter, Gerri Laws of Summerville; two sons, Phillip Driggers, Jr., of Summerville, and Raymond Driggers of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Nattie Lee Owens of Summerville; brother, Czernie Driggers of Summerville; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
