Mr. George David White, 84

CARLISLE - The funeral for Mr. George David White of 3025 Mayfield-Minter Drive will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26 at the chapel of Denton Funeral Home. The Rev. James Caldwell will officiate and be assisted by the Rev. Moses Lightner and the Rev. David Rice. Burial will follow in Sweet Hope Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. White, 84, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at Chester County Hospital.

born in Chester County, he was a son of the late Winbush White and Emma Davis White. A former member of Sweet Hope Baptist Church, Mr. White attended school in Chester County and was a retired cement finisher in Philadelphia.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Marie Chalk of Baltimore; a sister, Ollie Mae Minter of Carlisle; and his caregiver and nephew, Lucius Minter of Chester.

He was predeceased by his wife, Daisy Chalk White; a son; a daughter; and a sister.

Viewing will be from 1-9 p.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 25 at Denton Funeral Service, 124 Mobley St., Chester.

Denton Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Jenelle Long Harmon

Mrs. Jenelle Long Harmon, 75, of Church Street in Johnston, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008 at her residence.

A memorial service was held Monday, Dec. 15, at 6 p.m., at Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Phillip Lee officiating.

born in Saluda County and a daughter of the late Wilbur C. and Sara Black Long, she was the wife of the late Kinard J. Harmon. She was a homemaker and attended Cedar Creek Church in Aiken.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Dwight and Sherrie Harmon, Johnston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Dean Derrick, Monetta, and Kim and Michael Hatfield, Johnston; a brother, Carroll Long, Ward; four sisters, Rena Hutto, Alma, Ga., Marian Duffie, Saluda, Betty Koon, Newberry, and Judy Fallaw, Ware Shoals; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank Long, John David Long, Dub Long and Harold Long.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 404 Batesburg Highway, Saluda, SC 29138.

Mrs. Emma Ree Good Giles, 77

SHARON - The funeral for Mrs. Emma Ree Good Giles of 4869 Cabal Road will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26 at Mt. Hopewell Baptist Church in Sharon. The Rev. Raymond Davis will officiate, the Rev. Arthur Frazier will deliver the eulogy and the Rev. E.M. Browning and the Rev. F.R. Giles will assist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Giles, 77, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004.

born in York County on March 13, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Holsey Bishop Good and Emma B. Nichols Good. A member of Crossroad Baptist Church, where she sang with the hymn choir and served on the missionary society and the usher board, Mrs. Giles was an avid gardener. She also served seniors in her community.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn Giles Jr. of Sharon; four sons, Clyde Good and his wife, Rachel, of Hickory Grove, Muhammad Fard of New York and Benjamin Giles and his wife, Cynthia, and Harry Giles and his wife, Melissa, all of Sharon; three daughters, Janice Tolbert and her husband, Michael, of Rock Hill and Glennetta Avery and her husband, Michael, and Eudoria Giles of Charlotte; three brothers, William E. Good and Robert Good of York and Thomas J. Good of Sharon; two sisters, Oletha Feemster of Hickory Grove and Purla Gwinn of Sharon; and 15 grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Kenneth Giles; three sisters; a brother; and a daughter, Emma Jean Giles.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 4869 Cabal Road, Sharon.

Viewing will be from 3-9 p.m. today, Wednesday, at King's Funeral Home, 135 cemetery St., Chester, and from 1:15 p.m. until the hour of service on Thursday at the church.

Mr. Mitchell 'Mitch' Hill, 43

CATAWBA - Memorial services for Mr. Mitchell "Mitch" Hill of 2870 South Anderson Road will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4 at King's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Bill Stringfellow Jr. will officiate and burial will be private.

Mr. Hill, 43, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004.

born in Chester County on Nov. 17, 1960, he was a son of Lillian Gladden Hill and the late Sammie Hill Sr. A member of Old Wilson Baptist Church, Mr. Hill was educated in the public schools of Chester County and was employed with Hyatt Insulation. He was a former employee of the Chester County School District.

Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Watson Hill; his mother, Lillian G. Hill of Great Falls; four brothers, Sammie Hill Jr., Roosevelt Hill and his wife, Alberta, and John Calvin Hill, all of Great Falls, and Michael Hill and his wife, Robbie, of Rock Hill; and a sister, Frances Hill of Great Falls.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 2870 South Anderson Road, Catawba.

Barbara Joan Kay Hall

Barbara Kay Hall, 74, of Lakeview Dr., wife of Melvin David Hall, died Friday December 26, 2008. Memorial Services were held Sunday, 7 p.m., December 28, 2008 at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home with the Rev. John Huff of Old Time Gospel in Trenton and Rev. Tommy Barwick of Johnston First Baptist officiating.

Mrs. Hall was a native of Greenville, SC.; she was a former bookkeeper for Pine Ridge Country Club, homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include her husband, one daughter, Dedra (Clint) Taylor, one son Darin (Lisa) Hall, four grandchildren, Jeannine Watson Polson, Sam Taylor, Austin Hall, Kayla Hall and two great-grandchildren, Haley Polson and Andrew Polson.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Nancy Mahon Kay and her brother, Kenneth (Skeet) Kay all of Greenwood, SC.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 510 Augusta Rd., Edgefield, SC 29824.

Mrs. Evelyn McGraw Moser, 84

CHESTER - Graveside services for Mrs. Evelyn McGraw Moser of 771 Great Falls Road were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31 in Chester Memorial Gardens with the Rev. John Porter officiating.

Mrs. Moser, 84, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at Piedmont Medical Center.

born in York County on Oct. 28, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Charles Franklin McGraw and Emma Norman McGraw Sweatt. A member of First Church of the Nazarene, Mrs. Moser attended school in York County and was retired from Springs Industries.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Wayne "Bob" Moser and his wife, Janice, and Jimmy F. Moser and his wife, Annette, all of Chester; a daughter, Claudia M. McDaniel and her husband, Stan "Chip, " of Rock Hill; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, the Rev. Claude Odell Moser; and a granddaughter, Angie Adams.

Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, 182 Pinckney St., Chester.

Eddie E. Drumming Jr.

Mr. Eddie E. Drumming Jr., 61, of Padgett Road in Trenton, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m. at Shaws Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Martin Ryan officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Drumming, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Shaws Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Tongi (Cleveland) Jones, Augusta, Ga., and Nakia Drumming, Trenton; two sons, Gregory James, Aiken, and Leon (Sharon) Simpkins, Augusta; his mother, Inez Barnes Drumming, Trenton; four sisters, Vera (Michael) Gilliam, Columbia, Linda (Ricky) Brunson, Trenton, Gloria (Dwayne) Ligons, Ridge Spring, and Shirley (Robert) Tucker, Trenton; three brothers, Robert (Lorraine) Drumming, Timothy (Ruth) Drumming and Ronnie (Martha) Drumming, Trenton; 11 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

G.L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary, Edgefield, was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Maggie Barnes Timms, 88

BIRMINGHAM, Mich. - The funeral for Mrs. Maggie Barnes Timms, formerly of 6549 Richburg Road, Great Falls, was conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31 at Cedar Creek A.M.E. Zion Church. The Rev. Jessie Peay, pastor, officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Timms, 88, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, in Birmingham, Mich.

born in Lancaster County on Oct. 17, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Barnes Sr. and Carrie Meeks Barnes.

She worked in various positions in Detroit until returning home to Great Falls. She was an avid gardener, loved great food and music.

At an early age, Mrs. Timms became a member of Greater New Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Detroit and later became a member of Cedar Creek A.M.E. Zion Church in Lancaster.

Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Robert L. Timms; two daughters, Josey Moore and Carolyn Knechtel; a son, Charles Gladden; eight grandchildren; a sister, Juanita Simpkins; a brother, Joseph Barnes Jr.; and a host of great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Charlie Gladden, whom she married in 1936; a sister, Robbie Young; and two brothers, Pertell "Bo" Barnes and Adam Barnes.

Washington Funeral Home of Great Falls was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Robert L. 'Cab' Cabaniss, 83

CHESTER - The funeral for Mr. Robert L. "Cab" Cabaniss of 729 Cornwell Road will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4 at Barron Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Rick Wheeler will officiate and burial will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Cabaniss, 83, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, at his residence.

born in Lockhart on Aug. 3, 1921, he was a son of the late Alvin Cabaniss and Cynthia Quinton Cabaniss. A retired employee of Springs Industries, Mr. Cabaniss was a member of Lockhart Masonic Lodge No. 244.

Survivors include three daughters, Brenda C. Branham and Peggy E. Cabaniss, both of Chester, and Carol C. Gerbers of Blackstock; a brother, Jimmy Cabaniss of Chester; a sister, Eva Burgess of Lockhart; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mae Lillian Sutherland Cabaniss.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester.

Mrs. Ruth Belton Horton, 76

GREAT FALLS - The funeral for Mrs. Ruth Belton Horton of 1 cemetery St. was conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30 at First Mount Zion Baptist Church in Great Falls. The Rev. Michael Golden officiated and was assisted by the Rev. Josephus Gambrell, the Rev. Paul Hicklin, the Rev. Edward Jeter, the Rev. Bessie Curbeam, the Rev. William Hayes and the Rev. Cookie Washington. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Horton, 76, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, at Charlotte Health Care in Charlotte.

born in Longtown, S.C. on Aug. 21, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Deacon Chevis Belton and Mary Lee Belton. A member of First Mount Zion Baptist Church, Mrs. Horton moved to Charlotte at an early age and later relocated to Great Falls.

Survivors include four sons, Robert L. Belton and his wife, Virginia, of Charlotte, Ronnie Horton and his wife, Marie, of Patterson, N.J., Willie Lewis Horton and his wife, Mary, of Enfield, N.C. and Deacon James E. Horton and his wife, Jacqueline, of Great Falls; a daughter, Jessie Marion Davidson of Charlotte; 15 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; two brothers, Chevis Belton Jr. and his wife, Willis, of Columbia and Ernest Belton and his wife, Martha, of Patterson, N.J.; and three sisters, Naomi Ferguson of Patterson, N.J., Dorothy Thompson of Hopkins, S.C. and Cleo B. Hayes and her husband, John Henry, of Great Falls.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Horton Jr.; and two brothers, Deacon James Belton and Curtis Belton.

Mrs. Eula Young Price, 83

CARLISLE - The funeral for Mrs. Eula Young Price will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4 at Sweet Hope Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Price, 83, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, in Baltimore.

born in Fairfield County on Oct. 9, 1921, she was one of twin daughters of the late Choner and Bertha Walton Young. A member of Sweet Hope Baptist Church, where she served on the deaconess board and the adult choir, Mrs. Price was educated in Chester County schools. Prior to relocating to Maryland due to failing health, she retired from the Chester County School District as a food service technician.

Survivors include a daughter, Ola Mae Feaster and her husband, Frazier, of Columbia, Md.; three sons, Sammy Louis Price and his wife, Lendora, Donald Price and his wife, Sallie, and Clenzo Price and his wife, Wyonella, all of Chester; two sisters, Beatrice Ellum and Ola Butler, both of New Jersey; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel Mack Price; and four children, King David Price, Shirley Harvey, Martha McConnell and Gloria Means.

The family will receive friends at the home of her son, Donald Price, at 912 Featherstone Road, Chester.

Viewing will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, Chester.

King's Funeral Home of Pageland and Christopher King's Funeral Home of Chester are in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Calvin Sanders, 52

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Mr. Calvin Sanders, 52, formerly of Chester, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at his residence.

Arrangements will be announced later by King's Funeral Home, 135 cemetery St., Chester.
