Joe was an active member of First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. Surviving is his wife of the home and his mother of Greenwood; a daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Tim Barrett of Greenwood; a son and daughter-in-law, Josh Ryan and Alison H. Henderson of Hodges; sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne and Ed Suddeth of Greenwood; brothers and sisters-in-law, Casey and Mary Henderson of Ware Shoals and Stan and Judy Henderson of Waterloo; and two grandchildren, Sommer Barrett and Parker Henderson.

Sarah Coleman Shealy, 89, of 223 West Main Street, Ninety Six, widow of David H. Shealy, died Monday, March 9, 2009 at NHC Health Care Center. born in Cross Hill, she was a daughter of the late Hoyle and Beatrice Ward Coleman. She retired from Self Memorial Hospital and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, holding many offices in the church including treasurer for 26 years, taught Sunday School and was a member of the Mattie Hazel Circle. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Preston Shealy and her brother, Ernest Coleman. Surviving are three sons, Richard Shealy, Michael Shealy and his wife, Barbara, Christopher Shealy and his wife, Catherine, all of Ninety Six; two sisters, Virginia Jacobs of Clinton and Margaret Prendergast of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Nellie W. Rhoden, 96, of 204 Fairforest Drive, widow of Milledge E. Rhoden, died Sunday, March 8, 2009 at Hospice House. born in Aiken, she was a daughter of the late J. H. and Happy Berry Willing. She was retired from Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant and was a member of Abney Memorial Baptist Church and the T.E.L. Sunday School Class. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Nolan McCutcheon; grandchildren, Todd McCutcheon and his wife, Lisa, and Jeffrey McCutcheon and his wife, Missy; and two great grandchildren, Hayden and Reed McCutcheon, all of Greenwood.

Surviving is his wife of the home; his mother and stepfather, Don Walker, of Greenwood; his father and stepmother, Jackie Gambrell, of Pendleton; a daughter, Amy Gambrell of Clinton; two sisters, Nancy Martin and Sherry Fowler, both of Pendleton; a brother, Rick Gambrell and his wife, Beth, and a nephew, Douglas Gambrell, all of Six Mile; two grandchildren, Blake Davis and Cameron Davis, both of Greenwood.

Mrs. Nabors retired from Richloom Curtain Company and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are a daughter Linda Mitchell of Greenwood; two grandchildren, Sherry Lynn Rogers Goodman and Furman Wayne Rogers, both of Greenwood; and two great grandchildren, Dylan Rogers and Morgan Rogers, both of Greenwood.

Surviving is his wife of the home; two daughters, Kathy Gary and her husband, Owens, of Ninety Six and Connie Hlavenka and her husband, Tom, of West Texas; two sons, Steven Gable of McCormick and Preston Gable and his wife, Sandra, of Ninety Six; a sister, Margie Fellows and her husband, Sammy, of Greenwood; ten grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Irma Jeanette “Jean” Craig Futch, 71, of 141 Pin Oak Drive, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Hospice House. born in Naples, FL, she was a daughter of the late William and Grace Yelvington Craig. She served as a childcare nanny to several families in the Greenwood area and grew to love each child as her own. She especially enjoyed nurturing and watching each child grow from infancy into childhood. She was a member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughter, Debbie Futch Fortner and her husband, Phillip, of Ninety Six; two sons, Joey Futch of Greenwood and Donny Futch and his wife, Donna, of Ninety Six; two sisters, Dolly Rearden of Aiken and Carol Gibson of Johnston; a brother, Walter Craig of Graniteville. She was called “Nannie Jean” by her grandchildren, Tammie Fortner Southerland and her husband, Daymon, Brian Fortner and his wife, Lauren, Jay Futch, Haley Futch, Brooks Futch and his wife, Hillary, Nick Futch, Adam Futch and his wife, Holly and her great grandchildren, Eden and Jayden Southerland and Ana Blair Futch. In addition, she is survived by her former husband and his wife, Richard and Debby Futch of Aiken and special friends, Sarah Phelps, Bill Jones and Linda Collier. She was preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Edmunds and Pat Efird.
