GREAT FALLS Mary Louise Brannon, 61, of 35 Seaboard St., Great Falls, formerly of Lockhart, died at her residence Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at 6:30 p.m. after an extended illness. Ms. Brannon was born in Union on Sept. 16, 1941, a daughter of the late Grady Brannon Sr. and Nellie Rochester Brannon. She was a member of Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church and was employed with Duracell Battery Co. of Lancaster.

Surviving are three daughters and a son-in-law, Cindy and David Crosland of Fort Valley, Ga., Lisa Rainey of Great Falls and Christy Cox of the home; five sisters: Carolyn Rash and Tincy Inman both of Lockhart, Nancy Hope and Guynita Brannon, both of Union, and Brenda Petty of Leesville, La.; three brothers: Clifton Brannon of Union, Arthur Brannon of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Grady Brannon Jr. of Lockhart; five grandchildren, Steven Crosland, David Crosland, Jr., Cheyenne Crosland, Danielle Britten and Danny Britten Jr.; and two great-grandchildren.

Ms. Brannon was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers: Sara B. Gregory, Peggy B. Walker, Alice Ireland, Barney (Sonny) Brannon and Walter (Bubba) Brannon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at e Lockhart Free Will Baptist conducted by the Rev. Richard Conyers, the Rev. Dr. Tommy Bryson and Chaplain Arthur Brannon.

Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Pete Crosland, David Crosland Jr., Dale Inman, Lee Brannon, Keith Walker, Daryl Brannon, Wayne Reid and Jamie Reid. The body is at the home, 210 South 6th St., Lockhart, where it will remain until the hour of service. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Minnie Lee Jeter
Retired from Weirton Medical Center

CARLISLE Minnie Lee Jeter, 80, of Weirton, W. Va., widow of William Jeter Sr., died Sunday, March 23, 2003 in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. Mrs. Jeter was born in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Dennis and Genevia Jeter. She attended Union County schools and was a member of St. Peters AME Church in Weirton, W.Va., and Jeter's Chapel Church in Carlisle. Mrs. Jeter retired from Weirton Medical Center after 32 years in the housekeeping department.

Surviving are: a son, William (Juanita) Jeter Jr. of Weirton, W.Va.; a daughter, Ethel L. (George) Jeffries of Whitmire; three brothers, Dennis Jeter Jr. and Alonzo Jeter, both of Carlisle and Jimmie (Thelma) Jeter of Canton, Ohio; two sisters, Ethel (Albert) Gaffney of Rhode Island and Nancy Ann Johnson of Carlisle; a grandson raised in the home, David L. (Mandy) Byrd Jr. of Weirton, W.Va.; a loving aunt, Louis D. Jeter of Carlisle; two sisters-in-law, Mary (Doll) Brown of Whitmire and Martha J. Jeter of Carlisle; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Jeter's Chapel Church by the Rev. J.F. Johnson Jr.. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be Friday from 2 until 7 p. m. The body will be placed in church at noon Saturday to await the hour of service. Whitney Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Mary Grace Wix
Former J.P. Stevens employee

Mary Grace O'Shields Wix, 67, widow of Thomas A. Wix of 305 Coleman Aughtry Road, Whitmire, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003 in Wallace Thomson Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Wix was born in the Tinker Creek Community of Union County on April 16, 1935, a daughter of the late Clarence O'Shields and Rosie Fain O'Shields Wilbanks. She was a member of the Bethesda Baptist Church and was formerly employed with J.P. Stevens Co., Whitmire Plant.

Surviving are two daughters Rosalee Roeker of Whitmire and Gladys Louise Blair of Enoree; a brother, Coy OÕShields of Georgia; a step-daugher, Edna Faye Wix of Whitmire; two stepsons, David Wix of Texas and Jackie Wix of California; nine grandchildren, Christopher Michael Motes, Wendy Ann Motes, Eric Lee Cooper, Jonathan Motes, Daniel Eugene Lewis, David Scott Lathen, Jimmy David Lathen, Bryan Lee Roeker and Nicholas Jermey Roeker; 10 great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Ken Weaver. Burial will be in the Whitmire Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bryan Lee Roeker, Jimmy Lathen, Nicholas Roeker, Daniel Lewis, Josh Wix and Tommy Robertson. The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Friday night from 7-9. The family is at the home, 305 Coleman Aughtry Road, Whitmire. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Daniel R. Therrell Jr.
Former Union resident

Daniel Ray (Danny) Therrell Jr., 26, of Spartanburg, a former resident of Union, died Thursday night, March 27, 2003, in Mary Black Hospital. Mr. Therrell was born in Rock Hill on Sept. 3, 1976, a son of Beverly Wilson Browning of Portland, Ind., and the late Daniel Ray Therrell Sr.

Surviving in addition to his mother are two daughters, Hannah Brook Harris of Spartanburg and Ansleigh Nicole Moss of Union; a sister, Cheyenne Harrison of Portland, Ind.; two brothers, Kenneth Therrell of Union and Wayne M. McGhee Jr. of Rock Hill; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in Bogansville United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Scott Cobb. Active pallbearers will be Ricky Keasler Jr., Michael Sanford, Travis Austin, Shane Alman, Shane Henderson and C.J. Puckett. The families will be at their respective homes. Visitation will be at the funeral home tonight from 7-9. S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Henry Arthur Conley
Retired from U.S. Coast Guard
Henry Arthur (Ott) Conley, 79, husband of Ethel Gwinn Hollowinski Conley of 1150 Old Buncombe Road, Union, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

Mr. Conley was born in Clover on June 29, 1924, a son of the late Walter Davis and Ala Lonnie Shattles Conley. Mr. Conley was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II and the Korean War. He continued his military service of over 20 years retiring as a First Class Petty Officer in the U.S. Coast Guard serving during the Vietnam War. Mr. Conley was an avid fisherman and a member of Padgett's Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Pat Hollowinski Hella and Sue Ann Hollowinski, both of Union, and Sally Lynn Hollowinski of Georgia; a son, Clarence (Chummy) Hollowinski of Las Vegas; two sisters, Valerie Garner of Union and Dorothy Conley of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Jackie Hollowinski, reared in the home, of Buffalo, Mark Hollowinski and Kevin Hollowinski, both of Las Vegas, Nanci Hella-Diz and Roy Hella, both of New Mexico, Cheri Hella of Kansas and Patty Vaughan of Buffalo; 14 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Conley was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Grant, and a brother, Walter Conley. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Padgett's Creek Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. J.C. Calvert assisted by a military chaplain. Burial will be in the church cemetery with full military honors.

The following are asked to assemble at the church at 1:45 p.m. Thursday to form the honorary escort: Jackie Hollowinski, Brandon Garner, Jason Burnett, Charles Conley, Tony Jones, Jimmy Estes, Donavan Wells, Simp Vaughan, David Garner, Henry Conley and Butch Lawson.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church's social hall. Memorials may be made to Padgett's Creek Baptist Church, 843 Old Buncombe Road, Union, S.C., 29379. The family is at the home, 1150 Old Buncombe Road, Union, S.C., 29379. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Colie B. Hunter
Retired from Buffalo Mill

Colie B. Hunter, 82, of 272 Joe Eubanks Road, Buffalo, died Saturday, March 27, 2004, at Wallace Thomson Hospital. Mr. Hunter was born in Union County on Dec. 26, 1921 to the late Frank Sarter and Martha Hunter. He was retired from Buffalo Mill and was a member of Wyatts Chapel Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, William Lee (Betty) Hunter of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Colie Peake of Spartanburg; one sister, Alice Hunter of the home; two cousins reared in the home, Bertha Lee Jeter of Union and Dennis Roberts of Elkridge, Md.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Angie Hunter of Buffalo.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Wyatts Chapel Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Jefferson N. McDowell. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. Gibson & Brown Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Ruby D. Burgess
LOCKHART

Ruby Dale Green Burgess, 64, of 207 North 3rd St., widow of Boyd Burgess, died at her home Sunday, March 30, 2003, at 9 p.m. after a brief illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the S. R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Catherine T. Johnson Retired Lockhart Mill employee Catherine Townsend Johnson, 73, widow of Roy David Johnson, formerly of South 5th St., Lockhart, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Wallace Thomson Hospital after a period of declining health.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Lockhart on April 26, 1929, a daughter of the late Willie and Edna Revis Townsend. She was a graduate of Lockhart High School and was retired from Milliken & Co. , Lockhart Plant. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Ann Horton of York; a son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Judy Johnson of Union; a brother, Raymond Townsend of Lockhart; five grandchildren, Randy Johnson, Renee Russell, Christy Keatley, Amanda McDonald, and Wendy Bradford;l and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Johnson was predeceased by two brothers, Matthew Townsend and Bobby Townsend. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Conyers and the Rev. Ben Hill. Burial will be at Bullock's Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Wayne Porter, Bryan McDonald, Billy Bradford, Phillip Russell, Mark Keatley and Randy Johnson.

The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 and will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Tuesday to await the hour of service. Memorials may be made to the Oakmont Nursing Center Activity Fund, 709 Rice Ave. Extension, Union, S.C. 29379 or to the Union County Rescue Squad, attention Wayne Brown, P.O. Box 168, Union, S.C. 29379. The family is at the home of her son, 402 Seigler Road. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Ernest K. Kirby Former
Wallace Thomson employee

Ernest Kent (Kenny) Kirby, 35, of 123 Hancock St., died Friday, March 28, 2003, in Greenville Memorial Hospital from injuries received in an automobile accident. Mr. Kirby was born in Union on Aug. 29, 1967, a son of Wilhelmina (Willie) Howell Kirby of the home and the late Ernest Edward Kirby. He was formerly employed with Wallace Thomson Hospital and attended Christian Fellowship Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Wakina Dorsey Kirby of Union; a daughter, Alexis Cheyenne Kirby of Union; three sons, David Brian Kirby and Ernest Aaron Kirby of the home and Adam Kirby of Union; six sisters, Sara Mainis of Pacolet, Paula Roberts of Wilmington, N.C., Hazel Brooks of Greenville, Cathy Galloway, Brenda Eller and Betty Jean Clifton, all of Buffalo; three brothers, Michael Scott Kirby of Rutherfordton, N.C., James E. Littlejohn of Buffalo and Danny T. Prather of Jonesville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Kirby was predeceased by two brothers, Bobby Joe Kirby and Ernest Kirby Jr. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church by the Rev. Randy Smith. Burial was in Pacolet United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Danny T. Prather, Don Hyder, Ronald Davis, Gregg Davis, Jamie Babb and Brian Brackins. Memorials may be made to Christian Fellowship Baptist Church, 557 kelly Road, Union, S.C. 29379. The family is at the home, 123 Hancock St. The S.R. Ronnie E. Lipsey Sr.
Former Jonesville guardsman

Ronnie Edward Lipsey Sr., 56, of 328 Spencer Road, Jonesville, died at his home Sunday, March 30, 2003, after an extended illness. Mr. Lipsey was born in Union on Jan. 18, 1947, a son of Mary Pearl Baldwin Lipsey of the home and the late Willie Austin Lipsey Sr.

He was a former logger and formerly employed with Milliken & Co., Monarch Plant. Mr. Lipsey was also a former member of the Jonesville National Guard. He was a member of Jonesville Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his mother are a son, Ronnie E. Lipsey Jr. of Jonesville; three sisters, Peggy Henderson of Jonesville, Shirley Moss of Union and Delia Whitt of Pacolet; three brothers, Marvin Lipsey and Millard D. Lipsey, both of Union and Roger Lipsey of Jonesville; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Lipsey was predeceased by two brothers, Willia Austin Lipsey Jr. and Jerry Lipsey.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a m. Wednesday at the Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7 until 9 at Holcombe's Jonesville Chapel. The family is at the home, 328 Spencer Road, Jonesville. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Rosa Lee Dyer
Retired co-owner Dyer's Electric

Rosa Lee Hyder Dyer, 89, of 429 Oakland Road, Union, widow of James Vinson Dyer, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at 7:25 p.m. in Oakmont Nursing Center after a period of declining health. Mrs. Dyer was born in Union County on Feb. 21, 1915, a daughter of the late Doc Victor and Maggie Gregory Hyder. She was a member of Putman Baptist Church and was retired co-owner of Dyer's Electric Shop.

Surviving are:a daughter and son-in-law, Hazel D. Crow and husband Jim of the home; a sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne D. Dance and husband Joe of West Palm Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a number of special nieces and nephews. Mrs. Dyer was predeceased by a daughter, Carolyn Coile; a great-granddaughter, Ashley Coile; and a sister, Eula Mae Hyder.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Putman Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Donald Tillman. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jay Eichhorn, Charles Hoefs, Richard Riley, James Shetley, Derrick Coile and Seth Crow. The following are asked to assemble at the church Thursday at 2:45 p.m. to form the honorary escort: Justin Garrett, Jordan Garrett, Ryan Yount, Aaron Hoefs and Brandon Hoefs.

The family is at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Hazel and Jim Crow, 429 Oakland Road, Union and will receive friends at the church Thursday from 1 until 2:45 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Sunshine Adult Day Care, 506 B, South Duncan By-Pass, Union, S.C. 29379. Susan E. Smith
Former Wallace Thomson Hospital employee

BUFFALO Susan Elizabeth Smith, 37, of 432 Putman Road, Buffalo, died at her residence Tuesday, March 30, 2004. After a 15-year battle with cancer, Susan went home to be with the Lord. Ms. Smith was born in Union on Dec. 29, 1966, a daughter of Jean Brown Smith of Buffalo and the late Bobby Smith. She was a member of Putman Baptist Church and a devoted aunt. She was formerly employed with D&D Specialities and as supervisor of medical records at Wallace Thomson Hospital. Susan was a graduate of Union High School Class of 1984.

Surviving in addition to her mother are a sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Mike Southard of Greenwood, a brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Donna Smith of Buffalo; her maternal grandfather, Ernest O'Shields of Buffalo and the late Ava O'Shields; and her paternal grandparents, the late Wilson and Myrtle Smith. She is survived by two nieces, Kirsten Smith and Brandy Smith, both of Buffalo and a nephew, Gene Smith of Greenwood; an aunt and uncle, Gary and Barbara Brown of Greenville.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Putman Baptist Church conducted by Chaplain Coy Callicot and the Rev. Ron Culbertson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Scott Childers, Mike Cudd, Kim Stevens, Mike Anderson, Ray Lawson and Ray Vinson.

The following are asked to assemble at the church Friday at 1:45 p.m. to form the honorary escort: Oncology Unit Nurses of Gibbs Cancer Center, Darlene and Tony Archuleta, Jenny and Jerry Woodsby, Robert and Marissa Pacheco, Dr. David Keith, Dr. James Bearden and staff; Ben and Sandra Smith, Mrs. Dot Sprouse, Lori Grant, Lori Morrow and Paige Turner. The body will be at the home of her mother, Jean B. Smith, 424 Putman Road, Buffalo where the family will receive friends. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
