Marjorie Bostic
Rutherford County native
COWPENS – Marjorie Teresa Flynn Bostic, 75, of 127 Easler Webb Lane, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Rutherford County, N.C., she was the widow of Charles Reid Bostic and daughter of the late L.E. and Bessie McIntire Flynn.
Surviving are three daughters, Lynn Scruggs of Lincolnton, N.C., Jane Thornton of Cowpens and Lori Bostic of Cowpens; a sister, Naomi Waters of Forest City; a brother, Brell Flynn of Sandy Mush, N.C.; two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Eggers Funeral Home Chapel, Chesnee, conducted by the Rev. Billy Henderson. Burial will be in Cowpens City cemetery.
The family is at the home.

Macie R. Ramsey
Retired from Hamrick Mills
BLACKSBURG – Macie Richardson Ramsey, 75, of 1121 S. Charleston St., died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, in Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby, N.C.
Mrs. Ramsey was the wife of Paul Ramsey of the home and daughter of the late George M. and Mary Ila James Richardson. She was a member of Cherokee Falls Baptist Church and was retired from Hamrick Mills.
Also surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Robert Bolin and Darlene and Butch Self, all of Blacksburg; a nephew, Ronnie Holland of Blacksburg; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ramsey was preceded in death by brothers, Virgil Richardson, Vernie Richardson and Junior Richardson, and a sister, Louise Jones.
Services were held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Cherokee Falls Baptist Church, conducted by Bishop Don Horton and the Revs. Broadus Heatherly and Tim Knotts. Burial was in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Jerry Self, David Yanello, Robert Crotts, Olin Ramsey, Ralph Ramsey and Chris McCord.
Memorials may be made to Cherokee Falls Baptist Church, 109 School St., Blacksburg, S.C. 29702.

Lester L. Petty Jr.
Services for Lester L. Petty Jr., 50, of 409 Browning Road, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Philadelphia Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Danny L. Burnside. Body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-9 at Foster Funeral Home.

Michael K. Shippy
Services for Michael Kenneth Shippy, 19, of 508 Hetty Hill St., will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Charles Shippy, Tony Macomson, Lee Byers, Jeff Shippy and Elder Victor Shippy. Body will be placed in the church at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Garnson, Regis Harris, Eric Dover, Tremayne Byers, Lee Smith, Shane Harris, Alonzo Webber and Brian Martin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jaycee Shippy, Darell Tate Jr., Charles Shippy Jr., Jaye Benson and Hermon Leach.
Flower bearers will be Jackie Garrison, Brittany Harris, Ashley Ross, Courtney Richmond, Ashley McCluney, Beveley Logan, Charity McCluney, Destiny Wilson, Antawana Ross, Tanisha Wilson, Lakeisha Wilson and Sheria Vereen.

Mary D. Sarratt
Services for Mary Ann Sarratt, 100, of Brookview HealthCare Center, will be held today at 2 p.m. at Mikes Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Horace Jefferies and Elder Dawkins Richard Dowdle. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers will be James Odell Dowdle, Donnell L. Dowdle, Calvin C. Dowdle, Orville D. Dowdle, Thomas C. Dowdle and Richard Dowdle.
Flower bearers will be her great-granddaughters and honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.
The family is at the home of her granddaughter, Brenda Green, 604 E. Jefferies St.
Mrs. Sarratt, widow of William Sarratt, died Oct. 11 in Upstate Carolina Medical Center. She is survived by two daughters-in-law, Julia Dowdle and Mae Willie Dowdle of Gaffney; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

Jack Muirhead
born in Staten Island, NY on Oct. 27, 1919
Departed on Dec. 2, 2003 and resided in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Jack Muirhead, age 84 of Oak St. died Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
born October 27, 1919 in Staten Island, NY, he was the son of the late John and Florence Eiss Muirhead. Mr. Muirhead was a World War II, US Army veteran and had retired from the US Postal Service. Mr. Muirhead was a member of First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach where he served as Sunday School secretary and a Deacon. He was a member of Woodmen of the World, Lodge 1111, Myrtle Beach and was affectionately known by family and friends as “Tugboat”.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby Graham Muirhead; sons and their wives, Jack, Jr. and Carol Muirhead of St. Louis, MO and Stephen John and Judy Muirhead of Wilson, NC; grandson, Michael Muirhead of St. Louis, MO; granddaughters and their husbands, Jennifer and Jason Grimsley of Florence, SC, Melinda and Brian Smith of St. Louis, MO, Meredith and Chris Johnson and Erin and Matt Drago all of Anderson, SC; sisters, Bessie Althoff and Jean Rutkowski of Staten Island, NY; nephews; several great nephews and nieces; step great grandson, Candler and Warren Matthews and step great granddaughters, Stacey Shackelford and Holly Matthews all of Wilson, NC and many close devoted friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday at First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach with burial following in C. Graham cemetery, Hampton Road, Conway, SC.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00, Thursday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Carolina Woodmen of the World Youth Camp, PO Box 23287, Columbia, SC 29244 or Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, Care of First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach, 500 4th Ave. North, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.

Horace R. Seabolt
born in N.C. on Apr. 23, 1929
Departed on Dec. 3, 2003 and resided in Murrells Inlet, SC.
Horace R. Seabolt, age 74 of Prince George Village and Murrells Inlet died Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at the Village.
born April 23, 1929 in Kannapolis, NC, he was the son of the late F.C. and Bertie Alford Seabolt. Mr. Seabolt was a US Army veteran. He had retired from Maison-Sur-Mer as chief security officer. Mr. Seabolt was a member of the Moose Lodge #2351, American Legion Post 178, BPOE 2797 and VFW Post 10420 all of Murrells Inlet.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy Seabolt of Murrells Inlet; two daughters of MO and NY; three grandchildren; a sister and brother both of Charlotte.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00, Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Jean Altman Best
born in Mullins, SC, on May. 12, 2003
Departed on Nov. 25, 2003 and resided in Galivants Ferry, SC.
Jean Altman Best, age 74, wife of Jamie M. Best, Jr., died Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at her residence following an illness.
Mrs. Best was born May 12, 1929 in Mullins, a daughter of the late Ernest Vander and Myrtle Price Altman. She was a member of Aynor United Methodist Church, the Friendship Bible Class and was very active in her church. Mrs. Best formerly served as Adult Bible Class Teacher at Sandy Plain United Methodist Church, where she was also Treasurer for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women at Sandy Plain and served on the zone and district levels. Mrs. Best was a graduate of Myrtle Beach High School, where she was class Valedictorian in 1946. She was a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Coker College in 1950, where she received her B.A. in English. Mrs. Best then continued her education at Duke University, where she received a Masters degree in English in 1951. She taught in the S.C. Public School System at Clinton, Columbia and in Aynor. Mrs. Best was a board member of the Horry County Memorial Library Commission and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International Teacher's Organization. She was a past member of Aynor American Legion Auxiliary, serving as president for one year.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 50 years are one son, Jamie M. Best, III and his wife Tracy of Columbia; two daughters, Lynne Best Atkinson and her husband Ralph of Marion and Allison Best of Galivants Ferry; three grandsons and two granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday from Aynor United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis Mardis officiating. Burial will follow in Sandy Plain United Methodist Church cemetery, directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

David Ray Tanner
born in Johnsonville, SC on Mar. 27, 1957
Departed on Nov. 25, 2003 and resided in Conway, SC.
David Ray Tanner, age 46, of Antioch Road, died Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Mr. Tanner was born in Johnsonville, a son of the late Willie Joe and Mattie Ruth Johnson Tanner. He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church and was employed with Santee Cooper.
Surviving are his wife Linda Hughes Tanner of Conway; one son Julian David Tanner of Conway; two daughters, Malinda Korenne Blackmon and her husband Nick of Conway and Erica Rae Brown and her husband Shaun of Conway; three brothers, Earl Tanner, Danny Joe Tanner and Steve Tanner all of Johnsonville; one grandchild, Christian J. Brown of Conway.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at First United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Andrew B. Cooke officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch United Methodist Church cemetery, directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
Memorials may be sent to the First United Pentecostal Church, 906 Main Street, Conway, SC 29526.

Russell Wayne McBride
born in Dougherty Co., GA on Jul. 16, 1928
Departed on Nov. 24, 2003 and resided in Conway, SC.
Russell Wayne McBride, age 75, of Forest Lake Drive, died Monday, November 24, 2003 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Mr. McBride was born in Albany, GA, a son of the late Wiley and Jewel McBride. He was a member of Kingston Presbyterian Church in Conway serving as both a Deacon and Elder in his service to God. Mr. McBride attended North Georgia College, and was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Hartford Insurance Company in 1990.
Surviving are his wife Laurina Maria McBride of Conway; one son Russell Wayne McBride, Jr. and his wife Ann of Atlanta, GA; one daughter Rebeca Harrell and her husband Scott of Vero Beach, FL; two step-sons, Robert Grant and his wife Jennifer of Farmington, CT and Richard Grant and his wife of Sophia Harwinton, CT; three grandchildren, Jessica, Benjamin, and Zack.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at Kingston Presbyterian Church in Conway with Rev. Don Stiens officiating.
Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel is in charge.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at their home, 8200 Forest Lake Drive.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Kingston Presbyterian Church, 800 3rd Avenue, Conway, SC 29526.

Harvey B. Mishoe, Sr.
born in Bayboro, SC on Mar. 15, 1934
Departed on Nov. 21, 2003 and resided in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Harvey Berry Mishoe Sr., age 69, of Emerald Lakes, died Friday, November 21, 2003 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Mishoe was born March 15, 1934 in Horry County, a son of the late Dutch and Sudie Todd Mishoe. He was a retired Myrtle Beach Firefighter serving from 1967 to 1992. He was an active member of Cornerstone Church Of God and a loving and faithful father and husband.
Survivors include four sons Edsel Mishoe, Ronald Mishoe, Harvey Mishoe Jr., Alton Mishoe all of Myrtle Beach; one daughter, Mary Catherine Todd of Conway; nine
grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Sara Cornell of Myrtle
Beach, and Martha Little of Little River.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at Cornerstone Church Of God with burial to follow in Oceanwoods cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 PM Monday, November 24, 2003 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to Cornerstone Church Of God, 3690 Palmetto Pointe Blvd., Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
