Martha Ann Crowley Wetherington, 63, died in West Palm Beach, Fla. after a long battle with lung cancer.
Born on Feb. 4, 1941 in Kingsport, she had been a resident of Gray until 1987.
She was a member of St. Domiinc's Catholic Church in Kingsport and later St. Luke's Catholic Church in Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas H. Crowley Jr. and Juanita R. Crowley; her brother, Thomas H. Crowley III.
Surviving are her sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne Crowley Harding and Harry, Roanoke Rapids, N.D.; three children, Alvin Holscher, West Carrollton, Ohio, Marla Wethington and Melinda Wethington Hamilton and son-in-law, Scott Hamilton of West Palm Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Alexis Wethington, Logan, Haley and Morgan Hamilton, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; one great-grandson, Brock Hawkins of West Palm Beach, Fla.
Funeral services will be at the graveside at 12 noon Saturday (April 16, 2005) at the Tri-Cities Memory Gardens in Blountville.

A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Anderson and Sally Townsend Harrison. She was of the Pentecostal faith. She was a former employee of Haynes Clothing. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell Lee Stout, and one brother, Howard Harrison. LEONA C. GRINDSTAFF LEONA C. GRINDSTAFF, age 85, 1113 Ledford Street, Elizabethton, TN, died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter the late Jerry and Nettie Hodge Pritchard. Mrs. Grindstaff was a member of Hunter Memorial Baptist Church. She was retired from North American Rayon Corporation. She was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Pritchard and an infant daughter, Thelma Pritchard. Survivors include three sisters, Mae Pritchard and Martha Irick, both of Elizabethton and Ruth Simerly of Hampton; a brother, Spencer Pritchard of Elizabethton; two grandsons Brian and his spouse, Lia Pritchard of Jonesborough, and Greg Pritchard of Elizabethton; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Pritchard Campbell of Elizabethton; two great-grandchildren, Christy Miller and Robyn Miller, both of Elizabethton, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Elmer B. Sams, Sr., age 92, formerly of 407 East K Street, Elizabethton, TN died Sunday, June 1, 2003 in the Hermitage Health Center following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late William Jackson and Sally Hyder Sams. He was a graduate of Happy Valley High School. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon, former Sunday School teacher and church treasurer. He was a State Farm Insurance agent for 30 years before retiring. He was also a former member of the Elizabethton Lions Club. Mr. Sams was preceded in death by one grandson, Billy Jack Sams in 1973, several brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Pearl Humphrey Sams of the home, four sons and three daughters-in-law; Terry and Shirlene Sams, North Augusta, SC; B.J. Sams, Little Rock Arkansas; Gene and Sonja Sams and Elmer Sams, Jr. and Frances Sams all of Elizabethton; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. A native of South Hampton County, VA, he had lived in Elizabethton for the last year. He was the son of Sidney and Elvie Hall Sledge and was of the Holiness Faith. He was a retired mechanic for Best Concrete. He was preceded in death by 1 grandson, Travis Tanner and several brothers and sisters. Margery Grindstaff McPeake, age 92, formerly of 142 Echo Drive, Elizabethton, TN died Sunday, June 1, 2003 in the Hermitage Health Center, Elizabethton, TN following a brief illness. A native of Butler, TN she was the daughter of the late Joseph Millard and Winnie McQueen Grindstaff. She was an active member of Grace Baptist Church and the Ladies Adult I Sunday School Class. She was a graduate of the Watauga Academy and East Tennessee State University. As an employee of the Johnson County School System, she taught first and second grades for 32 years, primarily at Doeville School. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Her special interests were gardening and cooking and legions of relative and friends have enjoyed her yeast rolls and signature dishes throughout the years. Mrs. McPeake was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest T. “Jack” McPeake, a sister, Dorothy G. Livingston, a brother, Coolidge L. Grindstaff and a nephew, Joe Grindstaff. She is survived by one sister, Geneva G. Norris, Elizabethton; a sister-in-law, Joy L. FRANCES JANE SMITH TETRICK Frances Jane Smith Tetrick, age 88, of 224 West F. Street, Elizabethton, died Monday, May 26, 2003 in the Hillview Health Center following a lengthy illness. She was a native of Joplin, Missouri and was the daughter of the late Charles and Ollie Rafferty Smith. She was graduated from Joplin High School in 1933 and Joplin Business College in 1935. During her youth she enjoyed swimming, diving, tennis, and fencing. Mrs. Tetrick moved to Elizabethton in 1943 when she and her husband started the Tetrick Funeral Home. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elizabethton, a member of the United Methodist Women and Circle Six. Mrs. Tetrick was a member of the Franklin Flower Club and a former member of the Elizabethton Book Club. She was an avid golfer for many years and was instrumental in the forming of the Elizabethton Women’s Golf Association of which she had served as president. She had been the Women’s Club Champion three times. She was preceded in death by three sisters; Dorothy Smith, Eugenia Bodner, and Naydene Reynolds. She is survived by her husband, Don Tetrick of the home, two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Julie Tetrick and Richard and Norma Tetrick of Elizabethton,, four grandchildren, Tyler Tetrick, Ashley Tetrick, and Jared Tetrick all of Elizabethton, and Ronda Greaves of Denville, New Jersey; two brothers, Kenneth Smith of Roswell, New Mexico and Whitney Smith of Odessa, Texas. TIM RUSSELL TIM RUSSELL, 37, 131 Eldridge Drive, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital, following a brief illness. A native of Pahokee, Florida, he was the son of John and Louela Shankle Russell, Elizabethton. Mr. Russell was a student of the Jehovah Witness faith. Survivors in addition to his parents include three brothers and two special sisters-in-law: Michael and Kathy Russell, Jeff Russell, Keith and Andrea Russell, all of Elizabethton. Several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. TETRICK FUNERAL HOME, ELIZABETHTON, TN 423/542-2232 MEMORIAL SERVICE: TIM RUSSELL The Memorial service for Tim Russell, 37, 131 Eldridge Drive, Elizabethton, who died Wednesday, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. - Saturday, May 31, 2003, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, with Presiding Minister Ron Weiss officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M., Saturday, prior to the service or friends may call at the residence of a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Kathy Russell, 132 Eldridge Drive, Elizabethton at anytime.
