JULIAN J. ANDERSEN Julian J. Andersen, age 89, 212 East “G” Street, Elizabethton, died Friday, March 21, 2003 at his residence following a brief illness. A native of Withee, WI, he was a former residence of Villa Park, IL, and had resided in Elizabethton since 1969. He was the son of the late Hans Christian and Bertha Nielsen Andersen. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Elizabethton where he was former Chairman of the Deacons and former Chairman of buildings and grounds committee, and also served on various committees of the church. He was a retired Maintenance Superintendent from Moody Aviation. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Survivors include his wife, Ione Enola Hunerjager Andersen, of the home, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Robert Schlak, EL Paso, TX, Sylvia Jean and Rev. James Lange, Minneapolis, MN, one son and daughter-in-law, Bruce Edward and June Andersen, Glen Ellyn, IL, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, Margaret Jensen, Kenosha, WI., Alice Jensen, Pittsburg, PA, Verna Struble, Kenosha, WI., several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Julain J. Andersen, age 89, 212 East “G” Street, Elizabethton, who died Friday, March 21, 2003 will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, at Calvary Baptist Church, Elizabethton with Rev. Joe Sorah officiating. The committal and entombment will be at Happy Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum of Peace following the funeral service. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be members of The Men’s Sunday School Class at Calvary Baptist Church. A native of Butler, he was the son of the late Grayson and Etta Arnold Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret E. Smith, September 10, 1994, several brothers and sisters. Mr. Smith was a graduate of Watauga Academy and a retired employee of North American Rayon Corp. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elizabethton. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Margie and Sam Geiser, Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Ron and Linda Smith, Elizabethton; three grandchildren: Jan Hoffman, Ft. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Larkin Bill and Gladys Bertha Harrison Scalf. He was preceded in death by one brother, Junior Ray Scalf. Survivors include a son, Eddie O’Quinn, Elizabethton, a daughter, Amanda Scalf, Greenville, TN, 4 brothers, Steven Scalf, Johnson City, Larry Scalf, Watauga, Terry Scalf, Watauga, Jerry Scalf, Kokomo, IN, one sister, Linda Milhorn, Watauga, 4 grandchildren, 7 nieces and 11 nephews also survive.
