Dorothy Ina Morgan, age 87, Pine Ridge Care Center, formerly of 149 Brimer Road, Elizabethton, died Saturday, June 14, 2003 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Watauga County, NC, she had lived most of her life in Carter County. Mrs. Morgan was the daughter of the late Miles and Matilda Presley Love. She was of the holiness faith and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard David Morgan, one son, Darrell Wayne Morgan, two brothers, Ed Love, Hoover Ward, three sisters, Rena Morgan, Dollie Lambert, Margie Hicks. Survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Marie and Cotton Jackson, Richland, VA, Ruth Davis, South Dakota, Pansy and James Hurley, Forks, Washington, and Margie Morgan, two sons and one daughter-in-law, James (Buster) Morgan and special friend, Evelyn Johnson, Elizabethton, Bobby and Gloria Morgan, Everett, WA, 19 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Dorothy Ina Morgan, age 87, Pine Ridge Care Center, formerly of 149 Brimer Road, Elizabethton, who died Saturday, June 14, 2003, will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 18, in the Tetrick Funeral Home Riverside Chapel with Rev. Russell Potter officiating. Music will be under the direction of Ernest “Buck” Hicks. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 9:00 PM, Tuesday, June 17 in Tetrick Funeral Home Fireside Room. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and neighbors. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 682, Elizabethton, TN 37643.

ANITA TAYLOR, 88, formerly of 502 West Riverside Drive, Elizabethton, died Thursday, May 29, 2003, in the Life Care Center of Elizabethton, following an extended illness. She was a native of Carter County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Taylor and a son, Dallas Taylor. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a retired LPN from Carter County Memorial Hospital. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Nell Taylor, Mt. Carmel, TN; two grandchildren: Josh Taylor, Orlando, FL and Brittani Taylor, Mt. Carmel, TN. HAZEL C. WILLIAMS, age 85, 229 Blue Springs Road, Elizabethton, TN, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at the home of a son, Estel F. Williams, 238 Allison Road, Piney Flats, TN following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Lula Smith Campbell. Mrs. Williams was a member of Hunter United Methodist Church and attended Valley Forge United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Estel Fonce Williams, October 13, 2001, two infant sons and five brothers. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry P. and Carol Williams of Elizabethton and Estel F. and Patty Williams of Piney Flats; six grandchildren and their spouses, Deborah and Mark Allen of Smithville, VA, Jeffrey and Julie Williams of Houston, TX, Benjamin and Heather Williams of Monticello, AR, Estel Williams III, Mallorie Williams and Haley Williams all of Piney Flats; three great-grandchildren, Nickolas and Christopher Allen of Smithville, VA and Abigail Williams of Monticello, AR; and a brother, Leonard Campbell of Elizabethton. The funeral service for Hazel C. EVA VIOLA SHEFFIELD - Eva Viola Sheffield, age 92, of Norwalk, OH, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, OH, following an extended illness. She was a native of Carter County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Silas G. Sheffield, October 18, 1978 and a daughter, Jean Sheffield in 1958. Survivors include 2 sons, Clinton Sheffield of Norwalk, OH, Stanley Sheffield, Parma, OH, daughter and son-in-law, Alice and Tom Tyger of Jacksonville, AR, three sisters, Corrine Wilcox, Velma Elliott, Shirley Perkins, all of Elizabethton, two brothers, Isaac Davis, Elizabethton, George Davis of Texas, granddaughters, Renee Usehold, Tammy Mayfield, Melanie Reynolds, Susan Jarboe and Laura Cooley, nine great-grandchildren also survive. The funeral service for Eva Viola Sheffield, age 92 of Norwalk, OH who died Wednesday, June 4, 2003 will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2003 at Fairview Baptist Church, with Dr. Kenneth Jordan officiating. Edgar C. Hodge, age 76, formerly of 1900 Preston Road, Johnson City, TN, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center Hospital, Mountain Home, TN, following an extended illness. A native of Johnson County, having lived in Johnson City most of his life, he was the son of the late Fayette and Mammie Dugger Hodge. Mr. Hodge attended King Springs Free Will Baptist Church. He was a former employee of Magnavox for seventeen years and he was a retired employee from American Water Heater Company. He was preceded in death on September 22, 2002, by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Hodge. Survivors include two daughters, Gail Johnson of Jonesborough and Judy Haney of Johnson City; a son, David Hodge of Johnson City; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosa Lee Lones of Jonesborough; a brother, J. R. Hodge of Jonesborough; and several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Edgar C. Hodge, formerly of 1900 Preston Road, Johnson City, who died Sunday, June 15, will be conducted at 8:00 PM, Tuesday, June 17, 2003, in the Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. O. P. BERTHA COOK ESTEP, age 78, 987 Chinquapin Grove Road, Bluff City, died Friday, June 6, 2003, in the Northside Hospital, following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Coy Black Cook. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Estep, a daughter, Brenda Johnson, two brothers: J.C. Cook and Richard Cook, and a sister, Opal Mae Davenport. Mrs. Estep was a member of South Side Free Will Baptist Church and a retired employee of North American Rayon Corp. SURVIVORS include four daughters: Polly Carr and Bobbie Perry, both of Bluff City, Linda Montgomery, Elizabethton and Jeanne Autrey, Birmingham, AL; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Charlie Cook, Norton, VA; two sisters: Mrilda Dugger, Bluff City and Viola Huffman, Watauga; special dog, “Buffy”; several nieces and nephews also survive. FUNERAL SERVICE for Bertha Cook Estep, who died Friday, will be conducted at 8:00 P.M., Sunday, June 8th in the Fireside Room of Tetrick Funeral Home, with Rev. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late, Jake and Celia Holder Estep. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donley Estep and Finley Estep. Survivors include two nieces and several cousins, special friends, Bobby and Connie Oliver, Elizabethton, Roy and Rebecca Lubag, Elizabethton. The graveside service for Ora Estep, age 84, 132 Holly Springs Road, Elizabethton who died Sunday, June 22, 2003 will be conducted 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 25 at Richardson cemetery with Rev. Clarence Phillips officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Phil Asher, Mike Asher, David Asher, J.M. Nat Colbaugh, age 79, 138 Creek Bank Road, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, June 10, at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Ella Frances Aldridge Colbaugh. He attended Willow Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Colbaugh was retired from civil service. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in World War II. He was a member of American Legion Watauga Post #49, Capt. Lynn H. Folsom V.F.W. Post #2166, Boumi Temple Masonic Lodge, Baltimore, MD, and Jericho Shriners Temple. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Bill Colbaugh and one sister, Edith Feathers. Survivors include his wife of the home, Lula Colbaugh, three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Margaret and Ola Bowers, Elizabethton, Ella J. Medfaris, Elizabethton, Betty and Howard Markland, Michigan, several other nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. The funeral service for Nat Colbaugh, age 79, who died Tuesday, June 10 will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Mark Street and Mr. Doug Rasnick officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military Honors to be accorded by Capt. Lynn H. Folsom V.F.W. Post #2166. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Renfro, Fred Deloach and Bill Pack. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at Tetrick Funeral Home or friends may call at the residence anytime.
