Minnie 'Litt' Donahue Tharp

THARP, MINNIE "LITT" DONAHUE - age 89, of South Knoxville, passed away August 25, 1998, at Baptist Hospital. Member for 65 years of Island Home Assembly of God Church. Member and past Matron South Knoxville Order of the Eastern Star #389, past president of Young at Hearts Club and Island Home Community Center. She was a very active participant of South Knoxville Neighborhood Center, Community Action Committee and the Residents Advisory Board. She was one of the 200 volunteers for the City of Knoxville 200th Birthday in 1991. Survivors: son, M.J. "Buddy" Tharp; daughters, Melba Tharp Madden; grandchildren, Tom Madden, Dean Tharp and wife, Rhonda, Debbie Tharp Glindmeier and husband, Steve; great-grandchildren, Rick Haga, Aaron Stallard, Brooke and Megan Tharp; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Woodrow and wife, Opal Donahue; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 8 p.m. Thursday, Berry Chapel, Rev. J.W. Jordan will officiate. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery 2 p.m. Friday. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Baptist Hospice for their loving care. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

Charles W. (Bill) Jeffries, Sr.

Charles W. (Bill) Jeffries, Sr., born June 15, 1924, passed away September 1, 1998. Retired Mill Supply Salesman and owner of Portable Tool Service, Inc. Member of Gayland heights Baptist Church. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II serving in Co.B. 423rd Infantry Division in Europe. Preceded in death by mother, Stella M. Goforth, Step-father, Ted N. Goforth; Father, Charles H. Jeffries, Sister, Shirley Burnette and Grandson, Scott G. Jeffries. Survived by former wife Kathryn H. Jeffries, Children: Bill and wife Beth Jeffries-Knoxville, Kathy Jeffries-Knoxville, and Cynthia and husband Charles Ervin-Huntsville, AL. Grandchildren: Charles Jeffries, Susan Morton, Tom Jeffries. Great -Grandchildren: Sarah Jeffries and Anthony Morton. Brothers and Sisters: Denton Goforth-Morristown, TN, Bobby Goforth-Greenback, TN, Beatrice Free-Louisville, TN and Elaine Shope-Louisville, TN. Graveside service 11 AM Thursday, September 3, 1998 at Woodlawn Cemetery. Rev. Ronald Russell officiating. The Family will receive friends 7-9 PM Wednesday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ruble E. Thompson, Sr.; niece, Kelley Davidson; nephew, Neal Davidson.
