McMahan, sister, Peggy Hale, parents Bruce and Effie Reed. Survivors: Son and daughter-in-law: Brent and Carol McMahan of Prescott Valley AR Brother and sister-in-law: Jack and Wilma Reed of Seymour 3 Grandchildren Niece: Donna and Charles Smith of Charlotte, NC Several Nephews Special Friend: Vivian C. Kirby Funeral service 7 PM Tuesday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with the Rev W.A. Galyon officiating. Interment 10 AM Wednesday in Alder Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Tuesday at Atchley Funeral Home Sevierville.

John ''Johnny Carl'' Ownby

John C. “Johnny Carl” Ownby, age 66 of Bradley, Florida died Sunday, November 17, 2002 from a stroke. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Kerr Ownby, son, Gary Ownby, parents, Marion Herbert and Dolly Valentine Ownby. Survivors: Sons and Daughter-in-law: Kimmie and Lynda Ownby John C. Ownby, Jr Daughter and Son-in-law: Wendy and Wes Gant all of Florida 9 Grandchildren Sisters and Brother-in-law: Dannielle Henry of Ohio Marian Groover and Rick Stephens of Oak Ridge Brothers and Sister-in-law: Conley and Leslie Ownby of Texas Walter Kenneth Ownby of Ohio Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Family and friends will meet 9:30 AM Thursday at Eden Cemetery for Graveside service and interment with Rev. Ed Parton officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Wednesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.

Paul (Pavel) (Mayland) Jurca
Dated: November 16 2002
Jurca, Paul (Pavel) (Mayland), passed away Thursday, November 16, 2002, 3:15 a.m., at UT Hospital. He had been in declining health for the past year. He had 17 years of dedicated service to Florida Steel/Ameristeel Corp. as a machinist and prior to that was employed for several years at Formall Plastics Company as a dye and mold maker. He was born in Timisoara, Romania of Hungarian decent and educated with a formal dance and fine art schooling. He also trained for the craft of shoemaking and he was a political refugee. Wife, Terri Brown Jurca and sons, Michael Paul Jurca and Stephan Andrew Jurca. Also survived by former wife, Clara Jurca, and sons and daughter, Anton, Zollie, and Veronique. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. Following cremation, there will be a memorial service, times and place to be announced later and his cremains will be returned to his native homeland. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

John Lloyd Smith

Smith, John Lloyd, born July 25, 1924, passed away at Baptist Hospital November 16, 2002. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Frament DE-677. He was a co-owner of Knox Bonding Company. He was preceded in death by parents, Floyd and Mae Smith. Wife, Iris Smith; brother William Edward Smith; several half-brothers and sisters and several nieces and nephews, and a special friend and care-giver, Barbara Graham. Graveside service Monday 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Ford officiating. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

Fay Janyce Hoffmann

Fay Janyce Hoffmann, age 84 of Pittman Center passed away quietly at her home November 15, 2002 after a long illness. She was of the Lutheran faith, and a longtime member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Gatlinburg. She was also a member of the Gatlinburg Garden Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a tournament level Duplicate Bridge player. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Leonard Carl Hoffmann, Colonel, USAF, Retired. Survivors: Daughter: Lynn Gearhart and husband Gary and their children Tara, Alissa, and Reagan Gearhart all of LaSalle, Illinois Son: Leonard Hoffmann, Jr. and wife Pamela and their daughter Larady Hoffmann all of Pittman Center. Daughter: Laurie Arnold and husband Darrell and their children Jessica, Amber and Dustin Arnold all of Pittman Center. Sister: Lauryne Hussey of Singer Island, Florida Numerous family and friends around the world. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Monday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. Interment will be with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC. She will be sorely missed, as all who knew her loved her. Edgar Boone Lockman

Edgar Boone Lockman, age 90 of Sevierville, died Friday, November 15, 2002 at his home. He was born in Cataloochee, North Carolina and his family moved to New Jersey when he was young. He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse B. and Delphia Seay Lockman; daughter Joyce Dawn; brothers Jesse, Wayne, O’Dell, Paul, C.L. and Dennis Lockman; sister Opal Coles. Survivors: Wife of 65 years: Alice Shelton Lockman Daughters and sons-in-law: Kay Williams of Sevierville; Jean and Joseph (Rick) Skoczen of Pt. Pleasant, NJ; Linda and William (Bill) Ludwigsen of Gatlinburg Ten grandchildren Twenty five great-grandchildren Two great-great-grandchildren Also surviving are two brothers and three sisters all of New Jersey and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service 11 AM Monday in the East Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Murr and Rev. Melvin Lonas officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10 – 11 AM Monday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.

Gladys Grace Seagle

Gladys Grace Seagle, age 73 of Knoxville, died Friday, November 15, 2002. She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Pigeon Forge and was a retired nurse from Baptist Hospital (Class of 1963). She was preceded in death by parents Jesse and Miley Phillips Seagle; brother Donald “Duck” Seagle; niece Marilyn “Sissy” Seagle, Great-Niece, Rebecca Seagle, brother-in-law: Leon Loope. Survivors: Brothers and sisters-in-law: Glenn and Iris Seagle, J.B. and Colleen Seagle, Bobby and Betty Seagle Sister: Dorothy Loope Ten nieces and nephews Eleven great-nieces and great-nephews Five great-great-nieces and nephews Host of friends and other relatives Funeral service 11 AM Sunday at Freedom Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Parton and Rev. Lynn McElyea officiating. Interment to follow in Shiloh Cemetery. Miss Seagle’s nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will by the East Tennessee Baptist Hospital Nursing Class of 1963. The family will receive friends 7-9 PM Saturday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.

Oma Lea Santagata

Santagata, Oma Lea, age 75 of Knoxville passed away on November 15, 2002 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice. She was a member of First Baptist of Knoxville, and a former employee of Baptist Hospital. She is preceded in death by mother, Lura Slagle and Frank Slagle. Son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Sharyn Santagata; grandson, Eric Santagata; sister, Libby Monday of Knoxville; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ed and Eva Slagle of Mascot, Jake and Judy Slagle of Rutledge, Sam and Dottie Slagle of Escondido, California; several nieces and nephews; many special friends. Special thanks to Baptist Hospital and St. Mary's Hospice. Graveside service will be held on Monday, 11:00 a.m. at Roseberry Cemetery with Rev. Dave Ward and Rev. Morgan Biggs presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baptist Hospice in her honor. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002 at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Hwy.

Member of Valley Grove Baptist Church and was employed at Standard Knitting Mills for 42 years. Preceded in death by parents, Jake and Mary Russell; brothers, Edward, Fred, Raymond and Jim Russell; and sisters, Johnnie Helton, Ida Purkey and Grace Rogers. Husband, James L. "J.L." Ingram; daughter and son-in-law, Delores and Eddie Rule of Seymour; granddaughters: Lora Irwin and husband, Bryan of Richmond, Virginia; Amy Rogers and husband, Steve of Seymour; Holly Rule of Seymour; great-grandchildren: Michael and David Bozzone of Seymour; Bryan, Andrew and Cade Irwin of Richmond, Virginia; Amber, Dana and Holly Rogers of Seymour; sister and brother-in-law, Bertha and Beecher Baker of Seymour; several nieces and nephews including special niece, Brenda Sise; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Tom and Helen Ingram of Maryville; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Ingram of Mobile, Alabama. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Valley Grove Baptist Church, with Dr. Bobby Tucker and Rev. Harry Mynatt officiating. Interment will follow at Highland South Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Family Life Center, c/o Valley Grove Baptist Church, 9000 Sevierville Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920. Barnard, Margaret E., age 88, of Knoxville, died November 14, 2002 at UT Medical Center. She was of the Methodist faith. She retired from Child and Family Services as Supervisor of Adoption Services. She held Masters Degrees in Religious Education from Scaritt College and Social Work from Tulane University. Sister, Charlotte Thames of Jacksonville, Florida; niece, Rozann Williams of Jacksonville Beach, Florida; nephew, David Thames of Phoenix, Arizona; several other nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Child and Family, Inc, 901 E. Summitt Hill Drive, Knoxville, Tennessee 37915 or Friends of the Smokies, 130 W. Bruce Street, Sevierville, Tennessee 37862. A memorial service will be held later at Claxton, Georgia. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
