JONES, GARY WAYNE, born February 18, 1949, died October 20, 2002 at the age of 53. Gary had resided at Sunbridge Nursing Home in Maynardville for the last 3 ? years. Gary was known as a prayer warrior to those who knew him. He lived his life as a special needs person and touched many lives in his short time on earth. Gary never met anyone he could not love. He was loved by many in return for his courage to face life head-on. Gary was a faithful attendant to Memorial Wesleyan Church as long as he was able to attend. Preceded in death by parents, David and Ella Jones; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Gordon Cox; infant sisters, Margie and Mildred Jones. Survived by brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sue Jones of Chattanooga, TN; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patsy and Ernest Smith of Halls, Wilma and Joe Whaley of Corryton. Gary also leaves to mourn his passing a host of nieces and nephews, many friends and the staff at Sunbridge. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel with Rev. Aaron Mishoe and Rev. Greg Johnson officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends and celebrate Gary’s life from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 2300 W. Adair Dr.

Lucy Jane Robertson Loveday

Lucy Robertson Loveday, age 92 of Pigeon Forge, passed away Monday, October 21, 2002 at her home. Mrs. Loveday was retired from the Sevier County School System in 1976 after 35 years of service. Most of Mrs. Loveday’s tenure was served at the two room Middle Creek School and Underwood School in Kodak. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Pigeon Forge, where she shared her faith through teaching Sunday school for over 65 years. Mrs. Loveday was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Royce Loveday and son, James R. Loveday. Survivors: Son and Daughter-in-law: Jere D. and Gayle Loveday Daughter-in-law: Edna Loveday Rogers and husband Roy Grandchildren: Glenna Loveday Jennings and husband Larry, of Seymour Chuck Loveday, of Seymour Ikey Loveday, of Johnson City Christy Loveday Maples and husband Jimmy,of Pigeon Forge Molly Loveday, of Johnson City April Loveday, of Delaware Great Grandchildren: Jimmy and Allen Odham, of Seymour Aaron Jennings, of Seymour Bryson and Olivia Maples, of Pigeon Forge Sisters: Lyda Householder, of Pigeon Forge Hazel Conner, of North Carolina Cleo King of Knoxville Special friend: Ruby Tipton Funeral service 6 PM Wednesday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Charles William Reeves, Jr.

Reeves, Charles William, Jr. "Bub" -age 66, of South Knoxville, passed away suddenly at home Tuesday, October 22, 2002. Veteran of the United States Army and a retired small business owner. Father to three, mentor to many. Preceded in death by parents, Charles William Reeves, Sr. and Ruth Ellen Gibson Reeves; brother, Paul Maynard Reeves. Loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Lois Gammon Reeves; son, Gary Reeves and wife, Leslie; daughter, Penny Reeves Reagan; daughter, Patricia Reeves Curtis and husband, Rusty; grandchildren: Donald, Zeke, Will, Rachael, Forrest, Peyton, and Hunter; sisters, Vonita Kron and Mrs. Joe Adams (Dot); many other relatives and friends. Family and friends will meet for graveside services Friday at 2:00 p.m., Woodlawn Cemetery, with Tom Miller and Jeff Mabe officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

Lola Naoma Honeycutt Curtis

Lola Naoma Honeycutt Curtis, age 78 of Pigeon Forge, died Tuesday, October 22, 2002. She and her husband Roy were owners of Pigeon Forge Dish Co. and she was a member of First Baptist Church in Pigeon Forge. Mrs. Curtis was preceded in death by her husband Roy Curtis in April 2002. Survivors: Daughter and son-in-law: Judy Ann and James Robert King, Jr., Mobile, AL Granddaughter: Jada Marie King Sisters: Ellene Smith and Margie Davis Graveside service and interment 4 PM Thursday at Pigeon Forge Baptist Cemetery with Rev. W.W. Cope officiating. Friends may call at their convenience after 11 AM Thursday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.

Bud Coplen

“Bud” Coplen, age 71 of Sevierville, died Tuesday, October 22, 2002 at his home. He was a member of Murphy’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. Coplen came to Sevierville in 1965 with Electro-Voice and also worked for Ten-Tec. He was active in Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Little League. Mr. Coplen was involved in the construction of the Smoky Mountain Queen that sailed from Sevierville to New Orleans in 1976. He was preceded in death by his father Nile Coplen and daughter Marsha Ann Coplen. Survivors: Wife: Carolyn Coplen Son: Carl Coplen and wife Debbie Daughters: Jean Webb and husband Bee; Karen Moore Grandchildren: Courtnie and Bradley Webb, Jami and Dustin Moore, Taylor Coplen Mother: Helen Coplen Brothers and sisters-in-law: Duane and Patty Coplen, Richard and Karen Coplen, Jim Coplen, Connie Coplen, Tom Coplen, David and Addie Coplen Sister and brother-in-law: Nila and Bob Gerhold Brother and sisters-in-law: Richard and Marilou Wilson, Ellen Wilson Funeral service 7 PM Thursday in the East Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. CLAPP, JOYCE SUE, age 62, proudly keeping the name of her last husband, Ned(Pops) to the very end, breathed her last on earth this past Wednesday evening, October 23, 2002. A proud local Fountain City Democratic aggitator, and humble admirer of common decency in all shapes of humanity, she came to Knoxville having been born and raised in and around the hills of Middlesboro, Ky. Harmony Baptist Church, has been attending South Knoxville Church of Christ. Preceded in death by husband, Lloyd Lee Walker.
