Capizzi, Philip, age 70, of South Knoxville, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2002 at his home. Member of Love Chapel Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army 2nd Infantry Division, 38th Field Artillery C Battery. Retired from Briggs Company. Preceded in death by father, John Capizzi, Sr; son, Kenneth Capizzi; and brother, Anthony Capizzi. He was well liked by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Wife, Barbara Capizzi; son, Philip Capizzi; mother, Marian Capizzi; sister, Rosalie Tramutra; brother, John Capizzi, Jr.; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 2 step-children. Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Berry Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jackie Parris officiating. Interment to follow at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

Preceded in death by husband Charles Guy Julian, parents, Charles Elmer Williams and Abarilla M. Whitman Williams of Pike County, Indiana; brothers, Ennis R. Williams, Arthur H. Williams, Ross M. Williams, Ralph E. Williams; sisters, Edith G. Willis Hale, Etta Mable Maxey, Alice Fay Williams, Hazel Fern Williams, Blanche F. Kneir Kirk, Gladys Marie Bates White. Member of Sand Branch United Methodist Church. Survived by son, Charles Thomas Julian; grandchildren, Janice Strange, Teresa Tucker, Lisa Stubbs and Tim Julian; 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the nurses, certified nursing assistants and the staff of NHC Healthcare. Graveside service will be Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at Lynnhurst Cemetery with Rev. Gene Wood officiating. Founding Minister of Southside Baptist Church in South Knoxville. He was former Pastor of First Baptist Church in Ashland, Ohio. Also served as Pastor, teacher, Minister, in other states. He was a graduate of Bible Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He received his Doctorate of Divinity at Seaside Mission College in Florida. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp 5th Division where he served during World War II at Iwo Jima. He was preceded in death by parents, Carl and Lillie McDonald of Ashland, Ohio. Wife, Lois J. McDonald of Powell; children: David and wife, Gail McDonald of Knoxville; Catherine and husband, Larry Keck of New Tazewell; Rebecca and husband, Cecil Phillips of Atlanta, Georgia; Tim and wife, Diana McDonald of Knoxville; Debbie and husband, Tim Williamson of Maryville; Jennifer and husband, Eric Julian of Knoxville; grandchildren: Courtney McDonald, Sam McDonald, Steven Eller, Christopher Eller, Nicole Phillips, Josh McDonald, Spencer McDonald, Amanda McDonald, David Eller, and Brianna Williamson; brother, Richard O. McDonald of Ashland, Ohio; sister, Linda and husband, Larry Miller of Ashland, Ohio; several nieces and nephews and a host of other friends. The funeral services will be held Saturday 10:00 a.m., Berry Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Larry Brannon officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery with military honors by the East Tennessee Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, at Berry Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be Saturday in Michigan. Mr. Patrick was preceded in death by his father Jerry Patrick, mother Cinda Hurst Patrick, daughter Lela Grace Patrick-Owenby; brother James Hezekiah Patrick; sisters Chlorine Dockery and Laverne King. Pauline Goddard Cardwell

Cardwell, Pauline Goddard, widow of the late Ralph H. Cardwell, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2002 at Baptist Hospital. She was a member of Graystone Presbyterian Church where she attended the Friendly Fellowship Sunday School Class, Prayer Group, and Women's Circle. She has long been active in several organizations, past President of South Knoxville Lioness Club, past President of the Credit Women's International, and served on the Board for the Boy's Club of Vestal for 10 years. She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority were she served as President of XI Lamda Chapter. Preceded in death by son, Jack Goddard. Sons: Robert Goddard of New York; Theodore Goddard of Knoxville; daughter-in-law: Barbara Goddard of Knoxville; grandchildren: Steve and Opal Goddard, Gregory and Lisa Goddard, Mark and Debbie Goddard, Neil and Karen Goddard, and Cynthia Goddard; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will be held at Lynnhurst Cemetery with Rev. Mark Knisley officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

Bobbie Trotter Greene

Bobbie Trotter Greene, age 85 of Sevierville, died Thursday, September 26, 2002 at Fort Sanders-Sevier Nursing Home. She was a member of Union Grove Methodist Church and spent her life as a caregiver to other people. She was preceded in death by her husband Orville Greene; parents W.P. and Nellie Trotter; sister Doris Snapp; and brothers Gene and Harry Trotter. Survivors: Children: Richard Greene and wife Janice, Nancy Richardson, Janice King and husband James T. King Grandchildren: Dickie Greene, Mark Greene, Molly Greene, Robin Dickerson, Cindy Richardson-Young, Amy Kingery, Eric King Great-grandchildren: Mandy, Joshua, Jessica, Hunter, Samantha, Holly, Autumn, Jeremiah, Chase, Jake, Elijah, Meganne, Kayleigh Sisters: Charlotte Fox and Ruth Burns Special friends: Grace Hicks, Kenny Catlett, Chris Barrow The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and caregivers at Fort Sanders-Sevier Nursing Home. Edna (Maurine) Evans

Evans, Edna "Maurine", age 88, of Rockford, passed away Friday, September 27, 2002 at her home. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was retired from Alcoa with over 36 years of service where she was a member of the 25-year Club and was an avid bowler. Preceded in death by brother, Gene Evans and sister-in-law, Florene Evans. Daughter, JoAnn Busic of Rockford; 4 grandchildren: Rock Busic of Charlotte, NC, Shannon Busic and wife, Mary, of Knoxville, Cerise Carr and husband, Billy, of Kodak, and Lance Busic of Knoxville; great-grandchildren: Derek Desormier, Shaunna Busic, Ashley Carr, and Josh Busic; and brother, Doyle Evans of Knoxville. Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2002, Berry Chapel, with Rev. Jay Galyon officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Memorial Cemetery for graveside services at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. George Gilbert officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

Bob Gonia

Bob Gonia, age 70 of Sevierville, died Friday, September 27, 2002 at his home. An Alabama native, Bob went to TMI and served 5 years in the army as a 2nd Lt. He attended Vanderbilt and Samford Universities on football scholarships and then graduated from Birmingham Southern College. As a United Methodist Minister he served churches in TN and AL and as a missionary to Indonesia . He continued his ministry with the Ecumenical Fellowship and moved over into the public sector developing aging programs in North Al. He moved to Tennessee with TVA in 1979 where he worked in humanities and community development.. Since retiring he has worked as a consultant nationwide and helped direct leadership programs throughout the region. Building community has been the work of his life. Whether on the football field or as the state boxing champion, visiting the jails or pulling the buggy as cowboy Bob, marching for civil rights or serving breakfast at his inn, Bob loved people and worked hard for connections to occur. Programs started by Bob continue to grow and receive awards locally and nationaly. Most recently Bob was honored in Huntsville by the Pathway of Honor, In Sevierviellle by the Rotary Club. In 1992 he was awarded the Thousand Points of Light award by Pres. George Bush . Survivors: Wife: Victoria Nicholson Children Debbie and John Hayes, Junita and Jamie Grantham, Ron and Rachel Gonia, Rod Kellogg, Debi and Kevin Crowley, Daniel and Lynn Sievers Grandchildren: Chandler and Cayce Hayes; Chris, Craig, Kayla and Trey Grantham; Jessica Gonia; Joshua and Jake Sievers Brothers: Jack and James Gonia Memorial service 11AM Monday at the First United Methodist Church of Sevierville. Rev. Ronald E. Gonia officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Great Hall at the church.
