Steven L. Walls, age 32, of Manchester died Saturday, August 25, 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Walls of Manchester; children, Kimmi and Robert Berg of Woodbury; father and stepmother, Gene and Pasty Walls of Christiana; brothers, Quinton (Trisha) Walls of Smyrna, John Lokey of Murfreesboro and Jason Lokey of Fosterville; nephews Joey Walls, John Thomas Lokey, Hunter Mann; grandmother, Mary Ruth Walls of Rockvale; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his entire Murfreesboro firefighting family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Lou Underwood Walls; grandfathers, William Clay Underwood, John Willy Walls; and grandmother, Lizzie Louise Underwood.
Mr. Walls was a member of Patterson Baptist Church and worked for the City of Murfreesboro Fire Department since 2000. He had worked as a volunteer Fireman with the Rockvale, Eagleville and New Union Fire Departments for the past 14 years.

D. M. "Buddy" Hay Jr., age 84, of Eagleville, died Thursday evening, August 23, 2007. Mr. Hay was born in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Sudie Vaughn and David Marion Hay, Sr. He was a farmer and retired tool and die machinist technician. Mr. Hay was a member of the Eagleville United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Margrave.
Mr. Hay is survived by his wife of 61 years, Irene Hay, Eagleville; daughter, Peggy Clark, Hendersonville; son, David (Betty) Hay, Eagleville; grandsons, Michael Hay, Jonathan Clark; granddaughters, Anne Marie Hooper, Marsha Street; eight great grandchildren.

Betty H. Lankford, age 56, of Rockvale passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. Born in Dyersburg, she lived most of her life in Rutherford County. She was a former employee of Bell South and a veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy T. and Alice Elvenia Hudson Harris. She is survived by her sons, John Paul Lankford of Rockvale and Kenneth DeWayne Lankford of North Carolina.

John Marvin Beasley Jr., age 60, of Murfreesboro died Monday, August 13, 2007, after an extended illness. A native of Rutherford County, Mr. Beasley was a son of the late John Marvin Beasley Sr. and Frances Bolden Beasley Justice who survives. He was a driver for Sunshine Transportation and a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his father, Mr. Beasley was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Keele, who died in 1995.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon K. Beasley of Murfreesboro; daughters Joni Michelle Beasley of Murfreesboro and Tracy Adams of McMinnville; sons Steven Vadner of Nashville, Chris Beasley of Cookeville and Matthew Vadner of Murfreesboro; mother and stepfather, Frances Bolden Beasley and James Justice, both of College Grove; sister Freda Ghee of College Grove; brothers Jerry Beasley of Eagleville, Tommy Beasley of Murfreesboro and Larry Beasley of Nashville.

Melvin E. Davis, age 70, of Unionville passed away Sunday, August 12, 2007. A native of Bedford County, he lived most of his life in Rutherford County. He was self-employed in the construction business and a member of the Baptist church.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his father, Reuben Davis and a sister, Betty Jean Hillis. He is survived by his wife, Linda Faulkner Davis of Unionville; mother Priscilla Pendergrast Davis; sons Joey Davis, Johnny Davis and Steven Davis, all of Murfreesboro; brothers Buck Davis, Carl Davis, Ed Davis and Lonnie Davis, all of Murfreesboro; grandchildren Erica Davis, Kellie Fox and Lauren Davis; great-grandchildren Kailey Davis, Hollyn Fox and Hannah Davis; and several nieces and nephews.

James Michael Pope, age 26, of Smyrna, died Friday evening, August 10, 2007. He was a native of Marshall County and was a student. He was preceded in death by his great grandfather, Thomas Clay Yarbrough.
Mr. Pope is survived by a son, Xavier McCutcheon of Smyrna; parents, Michael Alvin and Patricia Yarbrough Pope of Smyrna; sister, Crystal Lynn Lanier, Eagleville; grandparents, Robert and Ann Woodson, Bell Buckle, Herschel and Marie Pope, Smyrna; great grandmother, Hazel Mae Yarbrough, Shelbyville.

Dorothy H. Higginbotham, age 69, of Eagleville, passed away on August 5, 2007 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. She was a native of Sherwood, Tenn., but has lived in Rutherford County for most of her life. Dorothy retired from Alvin C. York Medical Center and was a member of the Midland Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Annie Hunt.
She is survived by her son, Jim Higginbotham of Shelbyville; daughters, Beth Underwood of Eagleville, Ruth Sherrill of Manchester and Joanne Velez of Nashville; brothers, Anthony Hunt of Nashville and James Hunt of Smyrna; sister, Eva Walker of New Jersey; eight grandchildren.

Ollie Lee Owen, age 83, of College Grove, died Sunday, August 5, 2007, at his home after an extended illness. Mr. Owen was a native of Louisville, Kentucky and was a son of the late Robert Henry and Robbie Ruth Lynch Owen. He was a carpenter, loved building furniture and he loved people and life. He was a member of the College Grove Church of Christ. Mr. Owen was preceded in death by his wife, Esther T. Owen who died in 1999; brothers, C.B. Owen, Robert "Buddy" Owen, Roy A. Owen and sister, Lorene Bolinger.
He is survived by a son, Barry (Julie) Owen of College Grove; four sister, Myrtle Ruth Ivery of College Grove, Billie (Leon) Robinson of Franklin, Ann (Ed) Danner of Boise, Idaho, Patsy Sanford of Nashville; brothers, Ed (Shirley) Owen of Franklin, Jesse (Linda) Owen of Thompson Station, Jimmy Owen of Spring Hill; two grandchildren, Maggie Owen of Nolensville and Nick Owen of College Grove; twenty five nieces and nephews.

Linton Curtis McPeek Sr., age 75, of Rockvale passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2007, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A native of Pike County, Kentucky, he had lived in Murfreesboro for the past 20 years. He was a truck driver with Hoover Concrete Company and a member of Eagleville Baptist Church.
Mr. McPeek was preceded in death by his wife, Celia Jane Wallace McPeek; his parents, Narie Elkins and stepfather Odna Elkins. He is survived by his sons, Joe (Patti) McPeek of Deer Park, Texas, Linton Curtis (Connie) McPeek Jr. of Rockvale and Johnny (Patty) McPeek of Deer Park, Texas; daughters Mary (Sam) Burgett of Murfreesboro, Anna (Carl) Cowan of Dayton, Texas and Wanda (Donny) Blue of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; brothers Jim Elkins, Dallas Elkins and Kyle Elkins, all of Kentucky; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

Royce Allen Hill, age 57, of Rockvale, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007 in Franklin. Mr. Hill was a native of Rutherford County and was a son of Emma Chrisman Hill and the late Malachi Melvin Hill. He was a newspaper distributor for the Williamson Herald Newspaper until becoming disabled.
Mr. Hill is survived by a daughter, Regina Herrera of Rockvale; mother, Emma Chrisman Hill of Rockvale; sister, Wilma Scales of Rockvale; brother, Edmond Lee of Rockvale; two grandchildren.

Glenn Randolph Palmer, age 63, went home to be with the Lord on July 29, 2007. He died at his home in Franklin after battling cancer for 2 1/2 years. Born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, he was a resident of Franklin for 40 years. He was a self-employed architect, a Vietnam War veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and a member of New Song Christian Fellowship in Brentwood. He is survived by his wife, Nell Elizabeth Russell Palmer of Franklin; a stepson, Dennis Tribble (Teresa); two grandsons, Jesse and Aaron Tribble of Warner Robins, GA; and a brother, Larry Palmer of Greenbriar.
