Funeral services for Bobby “Grumpy” Gene Luther, 69, of Temple were held August 13, 2011 at Heartfield Funeral Home in Belton with Rev. Billy Johnson officiating. Interment followed in Salado Cemetery. Bobby was born in Belton on December 7, 1941 to the late Claude (C.E.) and Ivy Lawson Luther.

Specialist Sarah Elissa Morris, 23, of Mansfield, Texas, entered active-duty service in August 2007 as a food service specialist. She was assigned to 4th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, since February 2010.
Morris deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from October 2008 to October 2009.
Morris’ awards and decorations include an Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Service Ribbon.

SPC Justin Wade Powell, 21, of Gilmer, Texas, entered active-duty service in November 2008 as an air traffic control operator. He was currently assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Aviation Regiment, 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, since June 2009.
Powell deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from July 2010 to June 2011.

Alayne Fuller Ramsden
Memorial services for Alayne Fuller Ramsden, age 76, of Salado will be held 11 a.m. Aug. 4 at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton.
Born July 7, 1935 in New York City to Edgar Rudolph and Marie (Gurnack) Fuller. Ramsden grew up in Norwick, Connecticut. She attended Ladycliff College in New York. She was an educator for most of her life and lived in Salado for the past 25 years.

Specialist Ralph Edward Dawson, 41, whose home of record is Trevorton, Pa., entered active-duty service in October 2007, as a military police specialist.

Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died July 26, 2011. He was found unresponsive in his barracks room here.
Staff Sergeant Steve Lancelot Watson, 58, whose home of record is listed as Riverside, Calif., entered active-duty service in July 1971. Watson served as an infantryman but was currently assigned as a battalion medical noncommissioned officer. Since May 2009, he was assigned to 2nd Battalion, Warrior Transition Brigade, here.
Watson deployed in support of Desert Storm/Desert Shield in May 1992 and Operation Iraqi Freedom from January 2006 to November 2006.

Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died July 12, 2011 from a serious illness in Scott and White Hospital, Temple, Texas.
Sergeant First Class Troy D. Bargo, 46, whose home of record is listed as Mary Alice, Ky., entered active-duty service in July 1996 as a multiple launch rocket system automated tactical data systems specialist. He was assigned to the Warrior Transition Battalion, here.
Bargo deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from April 2003 to August 2003 and on February 2004 to February 2005.

Staff Sergeant Jonathan Howard Monzingo, 28, whose home of record is listed as Safford, Ariz., entered the military in April 2002 as an AH-64 Attack Helicopter repairer, and deployed to Afghanistan with 1st Battalion, 285th Aviation Regiment, Arizona National Guard. He entered active-duty service in August 2005, and was assigned here to 1st Battalion, Warrior Transition Brigade.
Monzingo’s awards and decorations include the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal and the NATO medal.

Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died July 10, 2011 from wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with indirect fire in Maysan Province, Iraq.
Sergeant Steven Luna Talamantez, 34, whose home of record is listed as Laredo, Texas, entered active-duty service in January 2008 as an M1 armor crewman. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, since May 2008.
Talamantez deployed in support of Operation New Dawn from February 2011 to July 2011, and Operation Iraqi Freedom from December 2008 to November 2009.

Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died June 29, 2011 of wounds sustained from an indirect fire attack in Badrah, Iraq.
Captain Matthew G. Nielson, 29, whose home of record is listed as Jefferson, Iowa., received his commission in May 2008 as an armor officer and was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, since November 2010.
Nielson was deployed in support of Operation New Dawn.
