ANDREWS - Helen Ford Gross, 82, of Andrews, a retired secretary, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, in Odessa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Second Baptist Church in Andrews with the Rev. Ivy Shelton officiating. Burial will be at Andrews Old cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
She was born in Bossier City, La. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Huband, James B. Gross of Andrews; stepsons, Don Gross of Crane and Dale Gross of Andrews; brother, Jerry Works of Texarkana; sisters, Lorraine Saint, June Freeman, Thelma Coker, Louise Baumberger, and Shirley Canon, all of Texarkana, Ruby 'Sis' Morganson of Kansas City, Mo., and Ann Morgan and Dorothy Hodge, both of Idaho City, Idaho.

Eunice McCarty
ANDREWS - Eunice Roch McCarty, 93, of Andrews, a retired nurse, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at Andrews Health Care Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa with the Rev. Jimmy Braswill officiating. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
She was born in Roch.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Jaunice Westbrook of Andrews; six grandchil-dren; five great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Garland Awbrey
ANDREWS — Garland Awbrey, 75, of Andrews, a retired mechanic, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Maranatha Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Robert Burns officiating. Burial will be at Andrews North cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
He was born in Plainview and moved to Andrews in 1969 from Post. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Pentecostal.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Betty Awbrey of California; son, Garland D. Awbrey of Andrews; daughters, Joy Lynn Wren and Brenda Kay Holly, both of Andrews, and Teresa Ann Smith of Wolforth; stepsons, Joe Shryock, Johnny Shryock and Lonnie Shryock, all of California; stepdaughter, Shawnee Daley of California; sisters, Nora Mae Hudgens and Lyndal Awbrey, both of Andrews, and Marnell Thompson of Sasakwa, Okla; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several step grandchildren; and several step great-grandchildren.

David Franco
ODESSA — David Franco, 54, of Odessa, an Air Force retiree, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Home Hospice House.
Mass will be celebrated at noon Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.
He was born in Fort Stockton. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Son, David Rey Franco of Lubbock; daughters, Celina Yvonne Davis of Lubbock, Seydia Adkins and Hope Franco, both of Terrell; parents, Florentino and Esperanza Franco of Odessa; brothers, Noe Franco, Toby Franco and Rafael Franco, all of Odessa; sister, Ines Franco Fatsinger of Boston; and five grandchildren.

Margaret Hall
ODESSA — Margaret Frances Hall, 68, of Odessa, a bookkeeper, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Hospice House.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethany Christian Church with the Rev. Robert Scofield officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Taylor. She was Christian.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Thomas Hall of Odessa; daughters, Lisa Twilligear and Sharon King, both of Odessa; brother, Perry M. Cox III of Hendersonville, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

Larry Powell
ANDREWS — Larry Joe Powell, 61, of Andrews, a security guard, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, in Andrews.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today at the Andrews North cemetery with the Rev. Ivy Shelton officiating. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
He was born in Cogar, Okla.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Lori Murray of El Mirage, Ariz.; brothers, Kenny Powell of Seminole, Richard Powell of Fritch and Ocie Powell of Dallas; sisters, Dixie Houston of Seminole and Iva Richardson of Erick, Okla.; and three grandchildren.

Wilma Reynolds
MONAHANS — Wilma Reynolds, 65, of Monahans, a retired Southwestern Bell employee, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gordon Cox officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Heritage Funeral Home.
She was born in Nolan County and had been a resident of Monahans for 35 years.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Mike Reynolds of Monahans, Zane Reynolds of Aransas Pass and B.J. Reynolds Jr. of Odessa; sister, Annette Vessells of Odessa; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Guadalupe Sosa
MIDLAND — Guadalupe Sosa, 79, of Midland, a retired Midland Independent School District employee, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. today at Reyes-Garcia Funeral Home with the Rev. David Vaca officiating. Arrangements by Reyes-Garcia Funeral Home.
He was born in San Jose, N.M., and moved to Midland in 1963.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Librada Sosa of Midland; sons, Lupe Sosa and Pete Sosa, both of Midland, and Jesse Sosa of Odessa; daughters, Luz Sosa, Carol S. Sosa and Lorina Villa, all of Midland, Corina S. Villa of Spring Town, Lina S. Hernandez of Houston; and Sandra S. Sosa of Memphis, Tenn.; sisters, Paula Lujan of Carlsbad, N.M., and Petra Acosta of Belen, N.M.; 26 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

PECOS — Florention Baeza, 79, of Pecos died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services are pending with Odessa Funeral Home.

Kenneth Sutton
ALAMOGORDO, N.M. — Kenneth Sutton, 79, of Alamogordo died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, in Alamogordo.
Services are pending with McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.

Beatrice Forester
DENTON — Beatrice Forester, 88, of North Richland Hills, a homemaker, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at Tremont Nursing Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, in the Schmitz-Floyd-Anderson Chapel with the Rev. Buddy Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
She was born in Odessa. She was a 50-year member of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lock Stewart Forester. Lock’s entire business career was with Southwestern Bell. He was a descendent of a pioneer ranching family in Denton County. The Forester Ranch is a designated historic site in Denton County.
She is survived by three brothers, Eldon Halbrook and wife Florence and H.J. Halbrook, all of Odessa and Lloyd Halbrook and wife Edith of Dallas; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes a special heartfelt thank you to Bea’s friends and neighbors who have shown much love and kindness.

Gene W. Zeigler
KERMIT — Gene W. Zeigler, 55, of Wink, a teacher football coach at Ector Junior High, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Lena Laughlin Auditorium in Wink with the Rev. Gary Redwine officiating. Burial will follow in the Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.
He was born Sept. 12, 1947, in Jasper. He married Linda Fuller on May 1, 1970, in Farmington, N.M. He was resident of Wink for 11 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wink.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gene Zeigler Scholarship Memorial at the Southwest Bank in Wink.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Zeigler of Wink; two sons, Todd Zeigler and Mark Zeigler, both of Odessa; and two grandchildren.

James Randolph Fitzgerald Sr.
ODESSA — James Randolph Fitzgerald Sr., 61, of Odessa, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Hospice House.
He was born May 25, 1941, to Thomas R. Fitzgerald and Goldie Bell White in Fort Worth, Texas. Mr. Fitzgerald married Illa G. Eaves on July 16, 1960, in Snyder, Texas.
Mr. Fitzgerald was a foster parent for many years. He worked as an insurance salesman, roustabout in the oilfield, service station attendant, truck driver, Del-Tex Candy, bread delivery, Prices Creameries Milk Delivery Distributorship and the government as a FEMA instructor and coordinator for nine years, retiring in 1992. He had several hobbies including fishing, art, football, baseball, basketball, track, collecting ducks, hunting, camping and politics. He was a boxing coach for the Golden Gloves for 15 to 20 years, “star” boy scout and a scout master for several years and a grant writer. He was a member of several clubs, including Jaycees in Andrews, Texas, and Lovington, N.M., Kiwanis, Odd Fellows, the Moose Lodge of Truth or Consequences, N.M. He was an achiever and a competitive person. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Goldie Fitzgerald; his mother-in-law, Nina Eaves; his brother-in-law, Robert Stark; and his granddaughter, Charlotte Ann Thomas.
Survivors include his wife, Illa G. Fitzgerald; his father, Thomas R. Fitzgerald; his daughters, Nina Xan Simonson and husband Jeff of Mesa, Ariz., Gina Ann Thomas and husband Paul of Truth or Consequences, N.M. and Robina Esquivel and husband John of San Marcos, Texas; his son, James Randolph Fitzgerald Jr. and wife Dalia of El Paso, Texas; his sisters, Nadine Sellers and husband Don of Granbury, Texas and Lenora Nelson and husband Luke of Denver City, Texas; his grandchildren, James R. Fitzgerald III and wife Isabel of El Paso, Texas, Robert J. Simonson of Mesa, David Fitzgerald of Tucson, Ariz., JJ Esquivel of San Marcos, Chad T. Simonson of Mesa, Ashley G. Fitzgerald of Kermit, Texas, Shelby L. Simonson of Mesa, Daryl H. Thomas of Truth or Consequences and William Gobel of El Paso; his great-granddaughter, Paris Novell Fitzgerald of El Paso; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are James R. Fitzgerald III, Robert J. Simonson, David F. Fitzgerald, Chad T. Simonson, JJ Esquivel Jr., Johnny Nelson, Chris Nelson, Joel Fitzgerald, James Gavin, Jessie Rivera, Bobbie Gutierrez and Robert Gutierrez.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Woody Allen officiating. Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice House of Odessa, Texas.

Doyle G. McBride
ODESSA — Doyle G. McBride, 72, of Odessa, passed away Oct. 18, 2002.
He was born to Roy Lee McBride and Anna Cantwell McBride on Oct. 8, 1930, in Abernathy, Texas. He married Josephine Cotton on February 8, 1952, in Lubbock, Texas, and has lived in and around Odessa for over 40 years.
Mr. McBride was the owner and operator of McBride Trucking for 13 years and was also in the radiator business for 20 years. Doyle was a very respected, down-to-earth man who knew no strangers. His family was his pride and joy, and he loved them very much.
Mr. McBride was preceded in death by his father, Roy Lee McBride; his mother, Anna Cantwell McBride; his son, David Ray McBride; and nine brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine McBride of Odessa; his sons, Michael McBride and wife Anna of Odessa and Russell McBride and wife Reba of Odessa; his daughters, Bobbie Dirden and husband Richard of Odessa, Mary Stewart of Midland and Barney Smith of Odessa; brother, Bill McBride of Odessa; sister, Dorothy Skidmore of Roanoke, Texas; eight grandsons and four granddaughters; and 1 great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Mike Bartlett of Greenfield Acres Baptist Church will be officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice House or to Home Hospice.

Lena Viola Huneycutt
CLEBURNE — Mrs. Lena Viola Huneycutt of Cleburne, Texas, passed from this life on Oct. 22, 2002, at the age of 97 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Dr. S.F. Huneycutt, in 1972. Viola was born in 1905 in Hardeman County, Texas, to Jack and Anna Turner. She had been a resident of Cleburne since moving here form Odessa in 1944. Dr. Huneycutt and family moved to Odessa in 1936. He was Odessa’s first optometrist. Mrs. Huneycutt was a longtime member and past president of the Bluebonnet Grandmothers Club. She was also active in a garden club and she loved flowers with a passion.
Mrs. Huneycutt tatted hundreds of crosses and gave them away as her witness. Church membership was with the Mineral Springs Primitive Baptist Church in Glen Rose.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Reba Murray Young of Odessa, Mrs. Jeannie Winnett of Cleburne and Mrs. Leta George of Duncanville; three sons, Dr. Weldon Huneycutt of Joshua, Dr. Arvel Huneycutt of Cleburne and Dr. Cecil Huneycutt of Paris; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Her life spanned almost 100 years, beginning at the dawn of the 20th century and reaching into the 21st century. Covered wagons were the mode of travel for her family. Friends and passing acquaintances included such notables as Charlie Goodnite of the famed Goodnite Ranch, as well as Chief Quanah Parker and his migrating band. “They made camp by our windmill, ” she would relate. Then she would proceed with countless other fascinating events from her childhood.
Services for Mrs. Huneycutt will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at Rosser Funeral Home in Cleburne. Pastor Berley Welch and Dr. Danny Crosby will officiate. Interment will be in Rose Hill cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at Rosser Funeral Home.
