Don Bush
ODESSA — Don Bush passed away at Medical Center Hospital at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, after a brief illness.
Don was born on Sept. 16, 1937, in Abilene to Thelma and Jess Bush. He graduated from Kermit High School in 1955. Don proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army.
On Aug. 1, 1966, Don married
Gynith Walter at Calvary Baptist Church in Odessa. He was employed with El Paso Products as a lab supervisor and later with Meridian Oil as lab supervisor of gas control from 1960 until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the American Legion Post #430 where he served in various offices.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Gynith Bush of Odessa; daughters, Denise Brandon of Abilene and Marcie Bush of Odessa; and one grandson, Colton Brandon of Abilene.
Serving as pallbearers are Larry Gist, Conrad Roberson, John Curry, Ron McComas, Sam Mannering and Raymond Wildman.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel wth the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Edmund ‘Ed’ Brosh
SAN ANGELO — Edmund “Ed” Brosh, 78, of San Angelo went home to be with our Lord Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002.
Ed was born July 27, 1924, to Frank and Mary Jansa Brosh in Concho County. He attended Ballinger and Veribest Schools before entering the Air Force in 1942. Ed served three years during World War II and was a member of the American Legion. Afterward, he moved to Crane where he worked for the Gulf Oil Corporation for 30 years. He was member of Holy Angels Catholic Church.
His hobbies included polka music and playing the accordion. Most of all, he enjoyed the company of his wonderful friend Lillie Orsak.
He was preceded in death by his wife Linnie Avonell “Terry” Brosh, a son, Stephen Brosh, a grandson, Chase Brosh, two brothers, a sister and his parents.
Ed is survived by two sisters, Bertha Griffith of Grape Creek and Leona Watkins of Odessa; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Reyenga and husband Jim; and a grandson Terry Brosh of Odessa.
Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father Charles Greenwell officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson’s Funeral Home.
In Lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Hospice of San Angelo or West Texas Rehab.
Theresa May Nelson
ODESSA — Theresa May Nelson, 75, passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at her residence in Odessa. She was born April 1, 1927, in Youngsville, La., to Mentor and Edesse Benoit.
Theresa married
Robert A. Nelson on Nov. 8, 1952, in Ardmore, Okla. She has lived in the community since 1952 and was a member of First United Methodist Church. She loved gardening.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Gale Wilson of Odyssey Hospice officiating.
Her husband, Robert Nelson, her parents, Mentor and Edesse Benoit, and one brother, Forest Benoit, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Mike Nelson and wife Kate of Loraine; daughters, Judith Cruzan and husband Jody of Allen, and Anita Arnold and husband Eddy of Cypress; brothers, Joe Benoit of Odessa and Louis Benoit of Moss Bluff, La.; sisters, Marie Thurman of Ardmore, Okla., Hilda Young and Ethel Godeaux, both of Jennings, La., Della Greenwell of San Diego, and Hazel Brehm of New Orleans; three grandchildren, Jolea Cruzan of Cypress, Jeff Cruzan of Allen and Andrea Nelson of Loraine.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
John W. Brothers
ODESSA — John William “Bill” Brothers went to be with the Lord November 6, 2002. He was born July 28, 1924, in Logan, W.Va., to U.S. Navy Cmdr. Paul L. and Kathleen Brothers. He graduated from St. Albans High School, St. Albans, W.Va., in 1942. He had one year at Purdue University before joining the Navy and serving on the USS Key DE-348 for a year. When home on leave he met the love of his life, Mabel Dirksen, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. He graduated from Marshall University with a BS degree in 1949. His career led him to work at Goodrich-Gulf Chemicals, General Tire, Windecker Industries and ending with Morrow’s Nut House franchise. He volunteered his accounting skills for various organizations.
He is preceded in death by his son; Paul T. Brothers and two sisters, Frances Thomas of W.Va. and Patricia Huey of Pa. Bill is survived by his wife, Mabel; daughter, Alice Fischer and her husband, Ernie; two granddaughters, Kathleen and Marianne of Palmdale, Calif.; his daughter-in-law, Shelia Brothers of Brocton, Ill.; sisters, Betty Hoover of Huntington, W.Va. and Dorothy May Echols of St. Albans, W.Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
His family and relationship with Christ were very important to him. He and Mabel loved to play bridge with the Seniors group and their good friends Pastor and Mrs. Otterness. He was proud of his friendship with Tom Wade that started in elementary school, carried through WWII and up to his passing. He loved sports and being active.
A memorial service will be held at Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord, Odessa, TX, Saturday, November 9, at 11 a.m. Lunch will follow. Burial will take place Saturday, November, 16 at 11 a.m. at Ridgelawn cemetery in Huntington, W.Va.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Altar Guild at Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord or to the American Cancer Society in his honor.

Juanita Reid Daugherty
CLOVIS — Juanita Reid Daugherty, 85, a homemaker, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, in her home after a lengthy illness.
Juanita was born January 13, 1917, in Throckmorton to T.W. and Elizabeth Cohron Reid. She was the youngest of seven children. In 1933, she moved with her family to Curry County.
She married
Robert Hagler December 27, 1933. Mr. Hagler died in a plane crash October 8, 1944, in Carlsbad N.M. She married
Harold W. Daugherty June 8, 1966.
As a young woman, she enjoyed playing the piano for her grandchildren. She enjoyed many years of traveling and fishing. She was a member of the Yucca Good Sams Club and a member of First Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; two brothers; three sisters; and one son-in-law.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Daugherty; one daughter, Ginger Hagler Marler of Odessa; a stepson, Paul Daugherty and wife Jeannette of Clovis; one stepdaughter, Darla Banks and husband Keith of Amarillo; one brother, Norman Reid of Marble Falls; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 8, at the funeral home. Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 9, at Steed-Todd Chapel, with Ron Eggleton and Jon Forrest officiating. Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.

James Averitt
BIG SPRING — James Danford Averitt, 71, of Coahoma, a draftsman, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Franklin officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. Arrangements by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
He was born in San Angelo. He was Baptist. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
SURVIVORS: Sister, Alma Simpsin of Odessa; step-daughters, Tracy Sousa of Orlando, Florida and Denise Creekmore of Big Spring; five grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Gladys Baumstimler
ODESSA — Gladys Edith Baumstimler, 81, a retired business owner, of Odessa, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Rosary was said Sunday in the Frank W. Wilson Funeral Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at Saint Elizabeth Anne Seton Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Woodruff officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
She was born in Voca. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Edith Ann Robinson of Odessa, Karma Jo Salzer of Dallas, and Catherine Danette Hartley of Austin; sons, Daniel B. Baumstimler of Odessa and Tim Baumstimler; brothers, Howard Brown of Junction and Glen Brown of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Jo Ollie Castleman of Eden; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Matias Hernandez
ODESSA —Matias Hernandez, 73, of Odessa, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Serafin Avenido officiating. Burial will follow at Rosehill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
He was born in Loving, N.M. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Celestina Perez of Odessa; son Matias Amancio Hernandez Jr. of Odessa; daughters, Virginia Martinez, Ninfa Hernandez, Maria Vasquez, Aurora Castillo and Irene Porras, all of Odessa; sisters, Gonzala Bustamante of Artesia, N.M., and Felipa Alvarez of El Paso; 21 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
Anita Johnson
STANTON — Anita Johnson, 61, of Odessa, a business owner, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at Home Hospice House Facility in Odessa.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Stanton with the Revs. Micky Munoz and Gene Weinette officiating. Arrangements by Gilbreath Funeral Home of Stanton.
She was born in Big Spring. She was Methodist.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Tom Johnson of Odessa; son, Tom Larry Johnson Jr. of Odessa; daughters, Leah Mitchell of Lenorah, and Julie Johnson of Coahoma; bothers, W. A. Ringener of Stanton, W. J. Ringener Jr., J. M. Ringener and Merle Ringener, all of Big Spring, and Dirrel Ringener of Fort Worth; sisters, Pauline Martin of Brownwood, Sis Bedell of Odessa, Lillian Collum of Colorado City and Carolyn Williamson of Coleman; and five grandchildren.
Kelly Kearney
SWEETWATER — Kelly Kearney, 82, of Odessa, a retired rancher, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, in Odessa.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at Palava cemetery in Sweetwater with the Rev. Ed Houston officiating. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Billie Steele of Odessa; daughter, Kay Kearney Trimble of Junction; son, Kent Kearney of Sonora; brother, L.C. Kearney Jr. of Sundown, Texas; and three grandchildren.
