Helen H. Norwood Riggs
MIDLAND — Helen H. Norwood Riggs died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at Deering Nursing Home. Mrs. Norwood was born June 1, 1911, in Magazine, Ark., to father James Henry Holland and mother Pearl Maybarker who both preceded her in death. Mrs. Norwood was 91 years.
Graveside services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at Resthaven cemetery in Midland with Pastor Eddie G. Humphries officiating. Mrs. Helen H. Norwood was the Director of Operation Blessing for four years. She was a member of Odessa Gospel Lighthouse Church. She and her husband Darrell served as guester at the door. You could not get past the door without one of her hugs. Her life touched many over the years.
Survivors include her husband, Darrell Riggs of Odessa; a niece, Patsy Bodine of San Marcos; and a whole host of sons, daughters and grandchildren that she adopted in her heart as her own.
Memorial Services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Gospel Lighthouse Church at 4800 N.E. Loop 338 in Odessa.
Services under the direction of Martinez Funeral Home.

Lucia Becerra Anaya
ODESSA — Lucia Becerra Anaya, 95 years old, of Odessa, died Nov. 8, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
She was born Sept. 16, 1907, in Guanajuato, Mexico, to Refujio and Soledad Becerra. She was a loving Christian homemaker and grandmother. She was a faithful member of Cathedral de Alabanza for 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonardo Anaya; son, Manuel Becerra; parents, Refujio and Soledad Becerra; brother, Francisco Becerra; sisters, Cecilia Becerra and Isabel Becerra.
She is survived by her daughter, Cuca Anaya of Odessa; seven grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at Iglesia Cathedral de Alabanza, 601 N. Lauderdale Ave., with the Rev. Pedro Emiliano officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
A prayer service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at the Odessa Funeral Home Chapel.
Services by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Chapel.

Ruby Blaschke
MIDLAND — Ruby Blaschke was born on Oct. 17, 1917, in Wewoka, Okla. She married Leo Blaschke on Aug. 8, 1932. They lived in Odessa, Texas, from 1947 until 1992, at which time they moved to Midland. She was a member of Second Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leo, on July 26, 2001.
Survivors include a son, Leon A. Blaschke and wife Sandy of Midland; a daughter, Linda Kay Stark and husband Bill of Lubbock; eight grandchildren, Kelly Donner, Kara Blaschke, Kelly Cockerell, Lacy King, Lori Flemons, Jonathan Stark, Paige Sarchet and Jason Stark; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Our Ruby, like her name, was a precious gem. She was a jewel to be cherished. Her life as a Christian was illuminated by being a devoted wife to Leo for 69 years, a loving mother and a treasured grandmother. Just as a ruby catches a ray of sunshine to become radiant, her lustrous smile, childlike giggle and twinkling eyes would light up the heart.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at Second Baptist Church in Midland with the Rev. H.W. Erwin Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church Building Fund.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Calvin Perry Brougher
HOUSTON — Calvin Perry Brougher was born on April 4, 1964, and died at the age of 38 on Oct. 4, 2002, at Northwest Houston Medical Center Hospital where he was under treatment for complications following vascular surgery.
Perry lived in Odessa where he attended Odessa Christian School. At the age of 12 he moved with his parents to Denver, Colo., where he attended Colorado Academy and Kennedy High School. Further schooling was at Florida Flight Academy, the University of Wyoming and American Truck Driving School. He moved to Houston in 1990. He and his mother have resided at 16120 Stuebner Airline Road No. 506, Spring, TX 77379, where she continues to live.
Perry was preceded in death by his father, Ira Calvin “Cal” Brougher in 1983, and his nephew Thomas William Orr, in October 1998.
Perry’s survivors include his mother, Mary McCown Brougher, and his three brothers and one sister and their families: Philip Brougher and his wife Judy of Tulsa, Okla. and their sons Matt, of Houston, and Aaron of Tulsa; brother Bill Orr and his daughter Elizabeth of Spring and brother John Orr of New Braunfels and his daughters Rose and Nora of Odessa; his sister Mary Jay Orr Sizenbach and her husband Gary live in Spring and Port O’Conner and their sons Doug and Todd live in Spring. Their son Bill lives in Panama City, Fla.
Memorials may be given to the Odessa College Rodeo Scholarship Fund, Attn: Jim Watkins, 2001 West University, Odessa, TX 79764, or a favorite charity.
Interment was held at the family plot in Denver. Arrangements for a memorial gathering in Spring, Texas, are pending.

Eusebio Luna Ramirez
ODESSA — Eusebio Luna Ramirez, 85, of Odessa passed away on Nov. 15, 2002 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Big Spring.
He was born on March 12, 1917, in Del Rio. He was a self-employed contractor and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his sons; Eusebio and his wife Pam Ramirez of McKinney, Richard and wife Shauna Ramirez of Anchorage, Alaska, Simon and wife Karen Ramirez of Oviedo, Fla.; daughters; Viola R. and husband Manny Puga of Odessa, Nancy and husband Juan Luna of Odessa, Alice and husband Albert Acosta of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother: Basiliso Ramirez Jr. and wife Maggie of Ozona; grandchildren: Chris Enriquez, Kelly Puga Cabrera, Stephanie Ramirez, Jacob Gonzales, Cathy Gaillard, Michael Ramirez, Courtney Ramirez, Jaime Luna, Gary Acosta, Joshua Luna, Magyn Puga, Cameron Ramirez and Jordynn Ramirez; great-grandchildren; Christian Gonzales, Alexandra Cabrera and Cori Gonzales, Arianna Gaillard and Raelynn Gaillard; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at 8 a.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 6 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with Emmett Barnard officiating. Military graveside will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lima cemetery in Ozona.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Christopher Enriquez, Jacob S. Gonzales, Michael Ramirez, Jaime J. Luna, Gary Acosta and Joshua Luna.
Services are entrusted to Odessa Funeral Home.

Ray C. Berry
ODESSA — Ray C. Berry passed away at his residence Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, in Navasota, Texas.
He was born Oct. 25, 1925, in Caddo County, Okla., to Ella and Fred Berry, who preceded him in death.
Ray enlisted in the U.S. Navy just before graduating from Odessa High School. He served three years in the South Pacific on board an aircraft carrier.
Soon after his discharge from the Navy, he went to work for Santa Fe Drilling Co., and spent 30 years in the Sahara Desert, the North Sea, the Alaskan Slope, off shore of the Santa Barbara Channel and off shore of Tripoli.
After his retirement he became a Mason and an Eastern Star holding various offices in both organizations.
He married Hazel Wallace Dean on May 31, 1956, in Lovington, N.M.
His real passion was his workshop where he made many wonderful things from wood. Give him a picture and he could make it. He spent many happy hours in his shop.
A daughter, a grandson, four brothers and two sisters preceded Ray in death.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Berry of Navasota; daughter, Cindy Wright and husband Whot of Navasota; daughter, Doris Curry of Baton Rouge, La.; son, James Dean and wife Gloria of Durango, Colo.; one brother, Tex Berry and wife Evelyn; three sisters, Vashti Willis, Marjorie Stubblefield and Corine Berry, all of Odessa; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Ector County cemetery. The Masons will be pallbearers.
Services are under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Joan Davis Muncy
ODESSA — Joan Davis Muncy, 70, passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born July 17, 1932, to Thomas Leroy and Theadocia Davis in Hereford, Texas.
She was the owner of a welding service, an avid bowler and was a Baptist.
The family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Services are scheduled for 4 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2002, at Belmont Baptist Church with the Rev. Rex Clayton officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Her son, Robert Muncy, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Muncy of Odessa; one son, Tommy Muncy and wife Cindy of Odessa; one daughter, Janis Fitzpatrick and husband Danny of Pecos; two sisters, Mary Morris and Dean Oestreich, both of Longview, Texas; and six grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Mariano P. Rico
ODESSA — Mariano P. Rico, 83 years of age, passed away on Nov. 27, 2002, at Terrace West in Midland.
He was born on Oct. 31, 1919, in San Pedro, Mexico. He was a long time ranch hand and Catholic.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Madrid Rico; parents, Isabel and Refugio Rico; brother, Alfonso Rico; and sister, Hortensia Rico.
Surviving him are his son, Manuel Rico of Los Angeles; daughters, Nidia Muro of La Puente, Calif. and Alicia Webster of El Paso; brother, Arturo Rico of Odessa; sisters, Elfida Torres, Ofelia Hinojos, Romelia Acosta and Socorro Cordova, all of Odessa and Aurora Calderon of Dallas; four grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday December 2, 2002, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Manuel Calderon, Hector Calderon, Edward Hinojos, Joe Torres, Daniel L. Acosta and Ray G. Acosta.
Services by Odessa Funeral Home.
