Madge Holstein
FORT STOCKTON — Madge Holstein, 79, of Fort Stockton, a homemaker, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, in Odessa.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at East Hill cemetery with the Rev. A. D. Jackson officiating. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
She was born in Schleicher County and moved to Fort Stockton from Rankin in 1936. She was a member of First Christian Church.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Molly Akin of Honolulu, Hawaii, Mary Puckett of Fort Davis and Lisa Harkins of Sanderson; sons, Collin Holstein of Libby, Mont., and Jay Tom Holstein of Fort Stockton; brother, Dewitt Chriesman of Eltopia, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

ODESSA — Lillian Marie Love, 81, of Odessa died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at Odessa Regional Hospital.
Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

Criselda Vasquez
ODESSA — Criselda Vasquez, 43, of Odessa died Monday, March 10, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

Maria ‘Vicky’ Orona
ODESSA — Maria E. “Vicky” Orona, age 66, went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital. Mrs. Orona was born July 11, 1936, in Mulato, Chihuahua, Mexico, to the parentage of Jose and Felicita Nunez.
Maria leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Daniel A. Orona; sons and their wives, Mario and Michelle Cadena Orona of Odessa, Danny N. and Juanita Salcido Orona of Andrews and Joe Sr. and Angelica Ramirez Orona of Odessa; daughters, Cecilia Orona-Pando and her husband, Robert Pando Sr., and Maria Del Rosario “Rosemary” Orona, all of Odessa; grandchildren, Robert Pando Jr., Andrew Pando, Jose Angel Orona, Joe Orona Jr., Bobby Orona, Benjamin Orona, Vianney Nino, Gabby Orona, Itzel Orona, Jovanni Orona and Mikey Orona.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 10 p.m. Sunday. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Martinez Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Robert Pando Sr., Joe Orona Sr., Danny Orona and Mario Orona.
Services entrusted to Martinez Funeral Home.

Eufemio ‘Memo’ Ramirez
ODESSA — Eufemio “Memo” Ramirez, 68 years of age, went to be with our Lord on Friday, March 21, 2003. He was born on September 3, 1934 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico to Bernardo and Luisa Ramirez. He married Rosalia Fuentes on May 14, 1954 in Carlsbad, N.M.
Mr. Ramirez was employed and retired after five years from the maintenance department of the Texas Department of Public Safety. He served in the Army Reserves and the National Guard, was a member of the Lion’s Club, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was a cursillista.
Mr. Ramirez was awarded Master Artist in mariachi music from the Texas Folklife Resource Center in Austin and LULAC awarded him the first cultural award for promoting and encouraging cultural awareness in Odessa. Memo Ramirez and his wife, Rosa, of 48 years, along with their seven children have been involved with music and have performed in this area for more than 30 years.
Mr. Ramirez was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Pedro and Isidro Ramirez.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalia of Odessa; sons, John Ramirez of Round Rock, Ricardo Ramirez of San Antonio, and Jerry Ramirez and Leo Ramirez, both of Fort Worth; daughters, Dora Ramirez of Gilbert Ariz., and Cecilia Ramirez and Gloria Ramirez, both of Round Rock; brothers, Juan Ramirez of Odessa, Bernardo Ramirez of Midland; sisters, Socorro Biscaino of Carlsbad, N.M., and Celia Ramirez, Paula Navarrete and Juana Rodriguez, all of Odessa; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A rosary was said Saturday evening at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2003, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Military graveside services will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Ramirez, Jaime Urias, Javier Urias, Marky Ramirez, Stephen Whitfield Ramirez and Donny Ray Carrasco. Honorary pallbearers Eric Ferrales and J.J. Hernandez.
Funeral arrangements are by Odessa Funeral Home.

Deanna Lynn Stacy
EL RENO, Okla. — Deanna Lynn Stacy went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 10, 2003, at the age of 46. She was born November 14, 1956, in Ponca City, Okla., and graduated from Odessa High School in 1975. Deanna was a self-employed interior designer.
She is survived by her son, John Ryan Haynes of El Reno, Okla.; parents, Robert J. “Bob” Stacy and Eudene Fletcher Stacy of Kingston, Okla.; brother, Robert Dale Stacy and his wife, Sissie, of Austin, Texas; sister, Karen Stacy Hinkel of Edmond, Okla.; grandmother, Ezia Fletcher of Odessa, Texas; and nieces and nephews.
A private service was held on Saturday, March 15, 2003, in Kingston, Okla.

S. C. ‘Greg’ Gregory
GRANBURY — S. C. “Greg” Gregory, 76, loving husband, father and granddad, went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2003, at a Fort Worth hospital, after a brave battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Granbury. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at the D/FW National cemetery in Dallas. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wiley Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 205 East Pearl Street, Granbury, Texas 76048.
Mr. Gregory was born October 1, 1926, in DeLeon. After high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He married Helen Moon of DeLeon in 1946, and they resided in Odessa where he was employed by Amoco Oil Company for 30 years. He spent his last thre years with Amoco working in Cairo, Egypt.
Upon his retirement at age 57, he relocated to Granbury. He spent his retirement golfing, fishing, traveling, spending time with friends and family, and enjoying his summer home in Ruidoso, New Mexico.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for the tremendous care given by Dr. Ferree, Dr. Hurley, Dr. Ruxer, and Dr. Martinez, as well as the entire staff of Life Care Hospital.
Mr. Gregory was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel S. Gregory and Vera Mae Gregory; his sister, Elizabeth Gregory; and brother, E. G. Gregory.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Helen Gregory; children, Dennis Gregory and wife, Lesa, of Bedford, Linda Beaver and husband, Leslie, of Grand Prairie, Janis Gregory of Fort Worth, Gene Gregory and wife, Julie, of Murrieta, California; grandchildren, Tamara Cooper of Crowley, Dennis Gregory II of Burlington, North Carolina, Brett Gregory of Hurst, Jeremy Beaver of Kissimmee, Florida, Shannon Warren of Big Spring, Greg DeBusk of El Paso, Chris DeBusk of Midland, Summer Watts of Beavercreek, Ohio, Brittany, Grayson and Grant Gregory, all of Murrieta, California; 10 beloved great-grandchildren; brother, A. W. Gregory of Phoenix, Arizona; and sister, Carrie Jo Hall of DeLeon.

Vernon Booth
MIDLAND — Vernon Booth, 79, of Odessa, a carpenter, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Chicago, Ill. He was an Army veteran.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Bessie Booth of Odessa; brothers, Charles Booth of Icard, N.C., and Melvin Booth of Merritt Island, Fla.; and sister, Lois Grover Andrews of Palm City, Fla.

W. L. Garrison
IRAAN — W. L. “Willie” Garrison, 86, of Iraan, owner of Garrison Contractors, died on Monday, March 10, 2003, at Odessa Regional Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Restland cemetery. Arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
He was born in Birds, Ill.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Ruby Garrison of Iraan; daughter, Mikie Kelly of Iraan; sisters, Macie Harvey of Iraan and Betty Davis of Snyder; brother, John Garrison of Iraan; five grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

Esther Greene
ODESSA — Esther Foster Greene, 94, of Glen Rose died Sunday, March 9, 2003, in Glen Rose.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose.
She was born in Grapevine. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Odessa.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Rita Scott and Anita Greene, both of Granbury; son, George “Buddy” Greene of 29 Palms, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Richard Hamm
MONAHANS — Richard “Dickie Don” Hamm, 55, of Grandfalls, a self-employed oilfield worker, died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at Monahans Managed Care Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Kevin Acker officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Heritage Funeral Home.
He was born in Monahans. He was a member of Union Church in Grandfalls.
SURVIVORS: None listed.

Pat Haygood
ANDREWS — Pat Haygood, 70, of Andrews, a field mechanic, died Friday, March 7, 2003, at his residence.
Services were March 10 at First Baptist Church with the Revs. John Yeates and Doug Kello officiating. Burial was at the Andrews North cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
He was born in Mountainaire, N.M. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Dorothy Haygood of Andrews; sons, Sam Haygood of Amarillo, Joe Haygood and Dan Haygood, both of Andrews; mother, Alice Weaver of Austin; sister, Imogene Kitchens of Austin; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Bertha Pallanez
ALPINE — Bertha Pallanez, 78, of Alpine died Saturday, March 8, 2003, in Alpine.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Mike Alcuino officiating. Burial will be at Holy Angels cemetery. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Mary Ann Blair of Midland; son, Joe Pallanez of Washington, D.C.; sisters, Margaret Vierra of San Jose, Calif., Mary Pallanez of Alpine and Dora Standlee of Arlington; brothers, Matilde Pallanez of Alpine, Manuel Pallanez of El Paso and George Vijil of Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
