MONAHANS — Catalina Gonzales Mendoza, 87, of Monahans, a homemaker, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, in Monahans.
Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. today at Family Funeral Services. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John’s Catholic Church with the Rev. John Lucido officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Family Funeral Service/
Jackie Harkey.
She was born in Presidio.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Moses Mendoza of Odessa and Eliseo Mendoza of Monahans; sister, Prajedes Madrid of Odessa; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Peggy Nelson
FORT STOCKTON — Peggy Nelson, 68, of Fort Stockton, a retired teacher and rancher, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, in Fort Stockton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Kevin Phillips and Larry Krueger officiating. Burial will be at East Hill cemetery.
Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
She was born in Trent. She was Methodist.
SURVIVORS: Husband, John A. Nelson of Fort Stockton; daughters, Tammy Huckaby of Fort Stockton and Tonya Poindexter of Ozona; son, Tipp Nelson of Danville, Calif.; brother, Billy Tittle of Abilene; sister, Jayne Cockrell of Artesia, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

ODESSA — Lewis T. Newsom, 90, of Odessa, a carpenter and building contractor, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Leascher officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
He was born in Bell County.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Janie Cotton of Odessa; son, Truett Newsom of Odessa; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Patricio Salgado Sr.
ODESSA — Patricio “Pat” Salgado Sr., 76, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Serafin Avenido officiating.
Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home.
He was born in Big Spring. He was Catholic. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Maye Salgado of Odessa; son, Pat Salgado Jr. of Odessa; daughters, Selma Swearingn and Mary Ann Carrasco, both of Odessa; brother, Andrew Salgado of Odessa; sisters, Ida Hinojos of Odessa, Anna Quiroz of Houston and Celia Copeland of Mesquite; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

ODESSA — Raymond Baxter White, 85, of Odessa, retired from Coast Guard, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Hospice House.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dick Brown officiating.
Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
He was born in Old Town, Maine.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Rosalie McNeely of Lubbock and Pamela Hudnall of Odessa; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Starlie Williams
ODESSA — Starlie Williams, 84, of Odessa, a retired cook, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at his residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. E. J. Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Ector County cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
He was born in Ben Wheeler.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Sarah Edwards-Williams of Odessa; son, Frank Thompson of Midland; sister, Cora Fisher of Los Angeles; and five grandchildren.

He was born in Van Alstyne. He was an Army veteran.
