Grace Bridges
ODESSA — Grace Bridges, age 77, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. She was born October 30, 1925, to Sam Lee and Myrtle Fesperman in Lott, Texas.
Grace married T. W. Bridges on March 15, 1943, in San Angelo. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at Calvary Baptist Church in Odessa with Rev. James Bishop officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Lawnhaven cemetery in San Angelo, Texas.
Survivors include her husband, T. W. Bridges of Odessa; brother, Cecil Fesperman of San Angelo; sisters, Helen Clark of San Angelo, Fay Riley of Odessa and Jimmie Ruth Brown of St. Louis, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Jeff ‘J.M’ Heatly
TRENT — Jeff “J.M.” Heatly, 68, died Monday, June 30, 2003, at his home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Trent United Methodist Church with Rev. Rex Mauldin officiating. Burial will be in the Trent cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home of Merkel.
J.M. was born January 23, 1935, in Novice to Aubrey and Johnnie Heatly. He was the eighth of 14 children. His parents, one brother, Byron Ray, and a sister, Margaret, preceded him in death. He married Amelia Faye Martin on November 20, 1953, in Trent.
J.M. began a 45-year career in the oil and gas industry in Taylor County in 1954 with Skelly Oil Company in and around Mulberry Canyon. He was transferred to Odessa in 1971 and supervised the drilling of many of the first deep gas wells drilled there. Heatly, always respected for his knowledge, hard work ethic and contagious personality, quickly established a reputation as “one of the best” in West Texas. He retired in 1980 and immediately went to work for Lesco Rental Tools and after four years was approached by Westland Oil Development to head their drilling and gas production in the Permian Basin. He stayed there until Amelia’s retirement in 1995. J.M. and Amelia then made their way back to Nolan and Taylor county where he continued to oversee the production and several drilling projects for Westland out of his office at the Trent Bank until he officially retired in 1999. He was a member of the Trent United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Amelia Faye Heatly; four children, Monty Heatly and fianceé, Claudia, Gayla Chambers and husband, Glen, Don Heatly and fianceé, Jessica, and Todd Heatly and wife, Cheri; 11 brothers and sisters, Bill and Charlene Heatly, Joy and Clovis McElmurray, Grace and James Bright, Elsie and Jack Keenan, Ruby Sipe, Emma and Dwayne Watson, Nelda and Jimmy Hobbs, Kenneth and Janie Heatly, Johnny and Lynda Heatly, Sherry and Bill Fellers and Jerry and Nancy Heatly; grandchildren, Lani, Marty, Gaylon, Miranda and Micah; 27 nieces and nephews; and a very special dog and friend, Dakota.
The family would like to thank Dr. Terry Johnson and his “girls,” Alice, Carlene and Mary, Dr. Alan Hardwicke and the entire staff of Hendrick Medical Center for the loving care and kindness shown to J.M.
“Lonesome Dove,” the home of J.M. and Amelia, is a living tribute to the life of J.M. It’s abundance of trees, grass, gardens, flowers and wildlife is truly a reflection of the rich life he lived. It will forever be a place to remember his laughter and love of life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trent United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 65, Trent, TX 79561.

Antonio B. Hernandez Sr.
ODESSA — Antonio B. Hernandez Sr., 79, of Odessa, Texas, went home to see his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 29, 2003, at his residence. He was born May 10, 1924, in Felipe Pescador, Zacatecas, Mexico, to Marcelino and Maria Hernandez.
Mr. Hernandez married Maria S. Martinez on July 27, 1942, in Felipe Pescador, Zacatecas, Mexico. Together they shared almost 61 wonderful years of marriage. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Odessa.
He was a fun, loving and devoted and caring husband, father, grandpa and father-in-law, who will be greatly missed. He will be in our heart and souls forever.
He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Hernandez emphasized the importance of a Christian walk. He was anxiously awaiting to see his grandson, Fernando, who is returning from Chile on Wednesday where he was serving as a missionary for the last two years. Mr. Hernandez was a wonderful person with a heart of gold. He was a resident of Odessa for the last 23 years.
Mr. Hernandez was preceded in death by his sister, Nicolasa Hernandez. He is survived by his wife, Maria S. Hernandez of Odessa; daughter, Celeste Hensley and husband, Oakey, of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughter, Carolina Hernandez of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughter, Graciela Hernandez of Odessa, Texas; daughter, Patricia H. Rascon and husband, Fernando of Midland, Texas; son, Manuel Hernandez of Odessa, Texas; son, Antonio M. Hernandez Jr. and wife, Catalina, of Odessa, Texas; and son, Pablo M. Hernandez and wife, Lillie, of Odessa, Texas. Grandchildren, Rocio B. Greene, Jose A. Tejada, Celeste B. Tavarez, Lillian V. Hernandez, Fernando H. Rascon Jr., Diana A. Hernandez, Jocelyne Rascon and Allan Rascon. Great-grandchildren, Anthony Tejada, Victoria McNeill, Phillip Gonzales, Noah Tavarez, Charmine Tejada, Nicholas Greene, Elizabeth Greene and Jared Tavarez.
The family suggests memorials to be made to the Alzheimers Association.
Pallbearers for the funeral service will include Antonio M. Hernandez Jr., Pablo M. Hernandez, Jose A. Tejada, Fernando L. Rascon Sr. and Thomas Martinez. Honorary pallbearer will be Jason J. Garza.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Martinez Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilberto Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

Virginia Moya
KERMIT — Virginia Moya, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother went to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 29, 2003 after a bout with cancer. A 39-year resident of Wink, Mrs. Moya was born Friday, September 1, 1933, in Sena, N.M., to the late Modesto and Theresa de Jesus (Lucero) Garcia. She was one of a large family of 21 children.
Virginia united in marriage to Gregorio D Moya Sr. on July 28, 1950, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in El Paso, TX. To this union thirteen wonderful, loving children were born.
Mrs. Moya was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of almost 53 years, Gregorio, of Wink; three daughters, Mary Ann (Moya) Lopez and Ramona Moya, both of Wink, and Berna (Moya) Briones of Monahans; seven sons, Joe Moya and Modesto Moya, both of Monahans, Frank Moya of Kermit, Greg Moya Jr. of Eunice, N.M., Gene Moya of Pampa, Texas, Pat Moya of Bay City, Texas, Jesus R. Moya of Odessa; seven sisters, Dolores Gutierrez of Portales, N.M., Nestora Chavez of Estancia, N.M., Elsie Chavez of Belen, N.M., Loretta Chavez of Willard, N.M., Rita Marez, Dianna Marez and Judy Marez, all of Clovis, N.M. 13 brothers, Leon Garcia of Clovis, N.M., Jose Lino Garcia and Jacob Marez, both of Portales, N.M., Lorenzo Garcia of California, Modesto Garcia Jr. and Chris Garcia, both of Albuquerque, N.M., Armando Garcia of Grants, N.M., Santiago Garcia, Felix Garcia, Danny Garcia and Antone Garcia, all of Willard, N.M., Agapito Garcia of Estancia, N.M., and Rosalio Marez of El Paso, Texas.
Grandchildren, Sonia Carrasco and James Jude Lopez, both of San Antonio, Jerry Moya Jr. of Monahans, Brian Urias and Crystal Moya, all of Kermit, Alma Moya of California, Carlos Lopez Jr. and Helena Saenz, both of Odessa, Jason Moya of North Richland Hills, Renee Hidalgo of San Marcos, Natasha Briones, Ruben Briones II and Marleyna Moya, all of Monahans, Michael Moya of Wink, Chris Moya, Trey Moya, and Aaron Mallow, all of Eunice, N.M., Gene Moya Jr., Loretta Moya, and Johnny Pacheco of Pampa, Pandora Moya of Albuquerque, N.M., Colby Moya of Kingsville, Sean Moya of Bay City, Dionne DelaO, Felicha DelaO and Ricky DelaO, all of Phoenix, Ariz.
Fourteen great-grandchildren, Emillie Carrasco and Abel Carrasco II, both of San Antonio, Ontario Moya and Dillon Moya, both of North Richland Hills, Alyssa Urias of Kermit, Allisson Moya of Monahans, Josh Saenz and Matthew Saenz, both of Odessa, Aylene Moya and Julianne Moya, both of Eunice, N.M., Jordan Mallow, Aaron Mallow and Damyon Mallow, all of Eunice, N.M., and Kayne Almanza of Monahans
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Ramonsita Catarina Moya and Millie Moya Sutton; and one son, Jerry Moya Sr.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at St Joseph Catholic Church with Father John Lucido officiating. Interment will follow at Kermit cemetery.
Two Rosaries are scheduled with the first to be held at 7 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2003, at Family Services Funeral Chapel with Demetrio Pineda leading the prayer. The second Rosary is scheduled at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at St Joseph Catholic Church.
Pallbearers are Carlos Lopez Jr., Jason Moya, James Jude Lopez, Gene Moya Jr., Colby Moya and Sean Moya.
Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit, Texas.

Ben Falvey Strickland
MOSS POINT, Miss. — Mr. Ben Falvey Strickland, 78, of Pascagoula, Miss., died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, in Pascagoula. He was born October 4, 1924, in Dayton, Texas.
Mr. Strickland was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He was the owner of Strickland Books, and was active in the Mississippi Genealogical Society.
Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Anna Jean Dimmick Strickland. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jody and Gay Strickland of Foreman, Ark., and Joel “Jaker” and Leslie Strickland of Odessa, Texas; sister, Inez Palmer of Kerrville, Texas; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Tracie, Scott, Jeremy and Courtney; two great-grandchildren, Jordan Elizabeth, Joshua Eugene; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held today, Monday, June 30, 2003, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. A graveside service followed at 2 p.m. from Biloxi National cemetery in Biloxi, Miss. Arrangements by Holder-Wells Funeral Home, Moss Point, Miss.

Charles Gordon Adams
ODESSA — Charles Gordon Adams, 62, of Odessa passed away June 20, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born on August 8, 1940, in Roscoe, Texas, to Carl and Luella House.
Charles came to Odessa in 1948 from Sweetwater. He was a life long resident of Odessa and attended First Baptist Church. He married Sidney Short in Houghton, Kan., on February 17, 1966. Charlie loved being around people and he never met a stranger. He was a member of T-Twister Motorcycle club and really enjoyed racecars. He lived as though there was no tomorrow. Always taking life to its fullest. Charlie, you will be missed greatly.
Services will be held on June 24, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Rev Bill Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Sidney Adams of Odessa; sons, Tommy Lee Adams and wife, Linda, of Odessa and Bobby Charles Adams of Odessa: daughter, LaCresha Michelle Adams and husband, Raymond Knapp, of Odessa; parents, Carl and Luella House of Odessa; grandchildren, Casey Nance, Natasha Adams, Matthew Jones, Jessica Knapp, Jordan Knapp, Tyler Adams and several nieces and nephews; aunt, Betty Smith of Odessa; aunt and uncle, Robert and Vera Headrick of Sweetwater.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

James ‘Jim’ McWilliams
ODESSA — James “Jim” McWilliams, 77, of Odessa passed away Saturday, June 21, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born in Wagner, Texas, on May 25, 1926, to Samuel Melton and Maybelle (Cunningham) McWilliams.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Kevin Bushart officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Jim McWilliams worked at Ferguson Construction in Lovington for 29 years before retiring in 1988. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a gunner on the Helldiver Aircraft. He was a member of St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Odessa and a member of the American Legion in Lovington. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, fishing and golfing.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Peggy McWilliams of Odessa; his daughter, Vickie Shenk and husband, Steve, of Midland; son, Ron McWilliams and wife, Faye, of Friona; sisters, Lorene Harrell, Fannie Harrell, Loma Stewart, Larue Nusz, and Maretta Parks; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Donald William Norton
ODESSA — Donald William Norton, 72, of Odessa passed away Sunday, June 22, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Donald was born May 4, 1931, in Alamogordo, N.M., to Donald and Billie Jean Norton. He married Lillian Catherine Cannon on October 20, 1956, in Lovington, N.M.
Donald was a member of the U.S. Navy, serving his country proudly during the Korean conflict. Donald was very active in his community. He was a Mason, a member of the VFW and a member of the American Quarterhorse Association. Donald was a volunteer with the Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary popping popcorn. He was a history lover and had a knack for mechanics. He enjoyed helping others by keeping things repaired. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at the Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Jess Little officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Donald is survived by his wife, Catherine Norton of Odessa; sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Becky Norton of Ennis, Texas, Eddie and Judy Norton of Muskogee, Okla.; daughter, Donna Smith of Andrews; grandchildren, Jeremy Norton and wife, Kendra, Chris Norton and wife, April, Michelle Norton, LCpl. Lance Norton, Justin Norton, Lauren Smith and Ashlyn Smith; great-grandchildren, Glen Norton, Allisha Norton, Dylan Norton, Bailey Norton and Garren Norton.
Pallbearers will be Joe Kinney, Thomas Stone, Eugene Batie, Charlie Brown, Bob Jackson and James Stone.

Agnes Irene Rockafellow
ODESSA — Agnes Irene Rockafellow, 65, passed away at her home in Odessa. She was born December 13, 1937, to William F. and Irene Kook in Muscatine, Iowa.
She graduated from St. Mathias Catholic School in Muscatine, Iowa. She married Howard L. Rockafellow on July 5, 1958. She was Catholic.
Survivors include her husband, Howard L. Rockafellow of Odessa; sons, Michael H. Rockafellow of Buchanan Dam, Texas, and Craig A. Rockafellow of Odessa; daughter, Theresa I. Cathey of Midland; sister, Kathleen Pelzer of West Liberty, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Elena Ramos
ALPINE — Elena Ramos, age 98, of Alpine, Texas, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2003, in Odessa.
Services will be will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine with with Father Miguel Alcuino officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Angel Catholic cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be Don Davis, Nilo Minjarez Jr., Emmit Flowers and Ray Laird.
She was a loving and caring mother. She extended her care to raising two granddaughters, Debbie Newbeery and Pam Monclova of Alpine, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emilio and Petra Benavente; her husband, Herminio Ramos; son, Alberto Ramos; and daughters, Elena Hernandez and Cecilia Ramirez.
She is survived by her sons, Herminio Ramos Jr. of Santa Clara, Calif., and Ernesto Ramos of Pipe Creek, Texas; daughters, Mary Virginia Robledo of Mountain View, Calif., Jo Ann Hullum of Olden, Texas, Pilar Canas and Aida Rodriguez, both of Alpine, and Isabel Langford of Odessa; 33 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home in Fort Stockton.
