Helen C. Manley
ODESSA — Helen C. Manley, 89, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Thursday, July 3, at the Hospice House. She was born Dec. 4, 1913 in Joplin, Mo. She worked as a school nurse for 23 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Catholic Women’s Association and Texas Retired Teachers Association.
Helen loved her many friends at the Lincoln Tower Retirement Residence; her dear friend, Chaplain Margaret Ledwith of Medical Center Hospital; her pastor, Rev. Francis Frey of St. Mary’s Church; her cohorts of the Catholic Women of Odessa organization and her friends and care givers over the years: James (deceased) and Frankie Rush; R.G. and Dorothy (deceased) Lester; and Dorothy Stroka.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Manley Jr.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Francis Frey officiating. Interment will be at the Calvary cemetery in Tulsa, Okla.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Charlene Barnes
ANDREWS - Charlene Greaves Barnes, 73, of Lubbock, a homemaker, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at The Grace House in Lubbock.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Andrews West cemetery with Mark Wilson officiating. Arrangements are by McNett Funeral Home.
She was born in Lamesa. She was a member of the Church Of Christ.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Ann Streety of Lubbock; son, Rick Barnes of Carrollton; brothers, Bill Greaves of Edmond, Okla., Basil Greaves of Plano and Burl Greaves of Lubbock; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Tommie Brown
FORT STOCKTON — Tommie F. Brown, 86, of Coyanosa, owner of Coyanosa Café, died Monday, July 28, 2003, in Fort Stockton.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at East Hill cemetery with the Rev. Dean Duckett officiating. Arrangements are by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
SURVIVORS: Son, William Ray Brown of Mexico; daughter, Carol Lee Mays of Center; sister, Joy Cobb of Mexico; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Ramiro Cantu
ODESSA — Ramiro Cantu, 44, of Odessa, a truck driver, died Saturday, July 26, 2003, in San Angelo.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Holy Redeemer with the Rev. Frank Chavez officiating. Burial will be at the Ector County cemetery. Arrangements are by Martinez Funeral Home.
He was born in Mathis.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Rosa Cantu of Odessa; mother, Santos Cantu of Odessa; daughter, Melissa Cruz of Dimmitt; sons, Ruben Cantu of Hereford and Nicholas Soto of Odessa; brothers, Israel Cantu, Ruben Cantu and Frank Cantu, all of Odessa, Freddie Cantu of Waco, Ben Cantu of Bovina and Robert Cantu of Midland; sisters, Margie Aguilar and Mary Ann Cantu, both of Odessa; and one grandchild.
Cecil Roberts Sr.
ODESSA — Cecil Coy Roberts Sr., 91, of Odessa, retired manager of Glaziers Wholesale, died Monday, July 28, 2003, at Hospice House.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. James Otterness officiating. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
He was born in Davenport, Okla., and he was Lutheran. He served in the Army.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Viola Roberts of Odessa; son, Cecil Coy Roberts Jr. of Odessa; daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Beard of Odessa; sisters, Pauline Brock of Oklahoma City and Marion Benham; and one grandchild.
Hortencia Carrasco
FORT STOCKTON - Hortencia Carrasco, 69, of Fort Stockton died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at Pecos County Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Templo De Agua Viva Church with the Rev. Vicente Cabello officiating. Burial will be at East Hill cemetery. Arrangements are by Memorial Funeral Home.
SURVIVORS: Son, Oscar Gonzales of Fort Stockton; daughter, Ofelia Molin of Fort Stockton and Hortencia Quintela of Santa Elena, Chihuahua, Mexico; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Rosa Rodriguez
PECOS - Rosa N. Rodriguez, 87, of Pecos, a homemaker, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at her residence.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with the Rev. Gustavo Lopez officiating. Burial will be at Santa Rosa cemetery. Arrangements are by Pecos Funeral Home.
She was born in Toyahvale. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Frank Rodriguez Jr. of Pecos and Dulce Rodriguez of Farmers Branch; daughters, Ethel Miller of Vista, Calif., Janie Rodriguez and Mary Garcia, both of Pecos, Tommie Vasquez and Pauline Marmolijo, both of Lubbock, and Martha Vasquez of San Angelo; sisters, Rita Fuentez and Katy Lara, both of Odessa, and Rufina Rayos of Pecos; brothers, Pete Natividad of El Paso and Benito Natividad of Carrollton; 27 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mary Brown
SONORA — Mary Lena Brown, 51, a full-time student of the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, died Thursday, May 8, 2003, at Home Hospice.
Burial was May 10 in Sonora cemetery. Arrangements by Kerbow Funeral Home.
She was born in Sonora. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Lesa Brown of Dallas and Laura Danner of Odessa; and three grandchildren.
Jewell Smith
ODESSA — Jewell Hester Walker Smith, 93, formerly of Odessa, a retired postmaster, died Sunday, May 25, 2003, in Lubbock.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Wesley Evangelical Methodist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Newton officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born near Bridgeport. She was Methodist.
SURVIVORS: Son, Jimmy Hiram Smith of Lubbock; sister, Vivian Evelyn Walker Shook of Odessa; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Jay Clevenger
ANDREWS — Jay Clevenger, 52, of Andrews, owner of Clyde’s Refrigeration, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, in Andrews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Revs. Mike Henson and Bill Melton officiating. Burial will be in the Andrews West cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
He was born in Artesia, N.M., and has been a lifetime resident of Andrews. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Son, Johnny Clevenger of Andrews; daughter, Jennifer Leatherwood of Oklahoma City; mother, Jada Clevenger of Andrews; brother, Charles Clevenger of Andrews; sister, Janice Matthews of Andrews; and two grandchildren.

ODESSA — Margaret V. New, 79, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens with family and friends officiating. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home.
She was born in Vivian, La. She was Christian.

ROCKWALL — Billy Glyn Raines, 78, of Odessa, a 34-year oil field crew foreman for ARCO, died Thursday, June 19, 2003.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel with the Rev. David S. Barnett officiating. Burial will be at the Royse City cemetery. Arrangements by Resthaven Funeral Home.
He was born in Royse City. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Helyn Raines of Odessa; daughter, Peggy Aills of Tucson, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

JAL, N.M. — Kelly Jo Waller, 42, of Jal, N.M., a registered nurse, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, in Jal.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jal cemetery. Arrangements by Family Services Funeral Parlor in Kermit.
She was born in Highland, Colo.
