ODESSA - Gabina Palma Marquez, 77, of Odessa, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at Alliance Hospital in Odessa.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Monte Calvario Church with the Rev. Pedro Emiliano officiating. Burial will follow at Rosehill cemetery. Arrangements are by Martinez Funeral Home.
She was born in San Antonio Del Bravo, Chihuahua, Mexico. She was Christian.
Survivors: Husband, Manuel Marquez of Odessa; daughters, Socorro Gonzales of Monahans and Gloria Thomas of Odessa; sons, Erasmo Marquez, Manuel Marquez, Jose Marquez, Angel Marquez, Lupe Marquez, Israel Marquez, Saul Marquez and Carlos Marquez, all of Odessa; sister, Maria Hernandez of Denver City; brothers, Gabriel Palma of Littlefield, and Jesus Palma of San Carlos, Mexico, 32 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Inell Moore
CRANE - Inell (Nell) Moore, 85, of Crane, a retired bookkeeper, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003 at a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lawnhaven cemetery. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home.
She was born in Breckenridge. She was Methodist.
Survivors: Daughter, Terry Singleton; step-brother, Romney Todd, and many nieces and nephews.

Lessie Salter
KERMIT - Lessie Dale Salter, 63, of Kermit, a certified nurses assistant with Rural Hospice of West Texas, Inc., died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, in Kermit.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Family Services Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Kermit cemetery. Arrangements are by Family Services Funeral Parlor.
She was born in Telogia, Fla.
Survivors: Sons, Leonard Wade Jennings of Sioux City, Iowa, Raymond Lamar Jennings of Kermit, Shawn Jerry Salter of San Antonio, and Patrick Bowie Salter of Bryan; brother, Raymond J. Evans of Greenville, Fla.; sisters, Faye Evans Kyllonen of Quincy, Fla. And Marjean Evans Hamm of Wewahitchka; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Antonio Villarreal
ODESSA — Antonio Villarreal, of Marathon, passed away on Dec. 29, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital at the age of 85. He was born on Nov. 3, 1918, in Ocampo, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Antonio and Leonor Villarreal. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Eva Tovar.
Surviving are his wife, Manuela Villarreal of Odessa; sons, Jesus Villarreal, Jose Villarreal, Manuel Villarreal, Eliodoro Villarreal, Juan Adan Villarreal, all of Odessa and Antonio Villarreal Jr. of Marathon; daughters, Maria Elena Moncolvas of Alpine, Vickey Aguilar of Crane, Elida Fierro of Alpine and Elodia Martinez of Odessa; brother, David Villarreal of California; 36 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Rosary was recited on Tuesday night at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marathon with the Rev. Rick Ruiz officiating. Burial will follow at Marathon cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Ray Villarreal, Jesus Villarreal Jr., Eddie Aguilar, Marco Villarreal, Sammy Villarreal, Joe Anthony Villareal, Manny Villareal, Juan Adan Villareal Jr., Victor Martinez and Ronnie Monclova.
Services by Odessa Funeral Home.

Polly Thomas Waters
ODESSA — Polly Thomas Waters, of Odessa, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at the Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from_6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home, 601 North Alleghaney Ave., Odessa.
Polly T. was born on Aug. 12, 1912, to Ulysses and Maggie Thomas in Marie. Polly was the youngest in a family of eight children: brothers, George and William; sisters, Nora Thomas Bland, Maud Thomas Grimes, Clara Thomas Gregg, Edith Thomas Mitchell and Margaret Thomas McDonald.
She was reared in Bronte. Polly married Willie Homer Waters on July 26, 1930, in San Angelo. Homer preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1974.
After graduation from Bronte High School, Polly earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Stephen F. Austin University, Nacogdoches. She continued studies at East Texas State University in Commerce and Sul Ross State University in Alpine, earning 36 hours of post-masters credit. In addition she earned her Texas Library Certification from North Texas State University, Denton, Texas.
Polly moved to Odessa in January 1959, and began 18 years of service with the Ector County Independent School District as an elementary teacher and librarian. She reluctantly retired from her beloved teaching career in 1977 which encompassed 32 years. The effects of her encouraging, mentoring and sharing with young teachers had wonderful far-reaching benefits through the years. She often said, even in recent months, that she wished that she could go back to her teaching career.
Polly was a member of the First Baptist Church in Odessa. She was a member of Odessa Retired Teachers Association and Volunteers in ECISD Schools, Eastern Star, Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary, Lifetime Member PTA, Texas State Teacher Association, Delta Kappa Gamma. Polly was selected to the American Educator’s Who’s Who and honored as ECISD Outstanding Senior VIPS in 1991.
Polly T’s generosity of heart in the giving of herself and intangible character gifts, especially to school children, was legendary. Her lifelong commitment to self-improvement and continuing education was remarkable and came at the sacrifice of other self-serving activities. Her care of family, love of life and commitment to career were decades-long hallmarks of her life. Her determination and giving spirit undoubtedly contributed greatly to her productive life.
Polly T. Waters is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers and sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Sue Walker and Virginia Nilsson, both of San Antonio; two sons, Homer Eugene Waters of Corpus Christi, and Joe Waters of Odessa; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers include: Dr. Ralph L. Brown, Jim Curlee, Tony Huey, John Laschkewitsch, Ronnie Waters, Keith Nilsson and Russell Cranson.
The family of Polly T. Waters request memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be directed to Home Hospice of Odessa, 526 North Texas Ave., Odessa, Texas 79761.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. John Howlett Jr. of Midland, Dr. Gloria Brun of Midland, Dr. Agusala Madhava MD of Odessa, staff of Home Hospice of Odessa, Scenic Mountain Hospital (Reflections Unit Staff), Big Spring, Mrs. Etta Watson, and Mrs.Teresa Blau, both of Odessa.
Local arrangements are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home, 601 North Alleghaney, Odessa, Texas.

Earl Ballew
ODESSA — Earl C. Ballew, 82, of Odessa, former owner of Ballew Dental Lab, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at his residence.
Graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorial service will immediately follow at First Church of the Nazarene. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Gainesville. He was a U.S. Army Signal Corps veteran of World War II.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Louise Ballew of Odessa; sons, Dennis Ballew of Mississippi and Steve Ballew of Odessa; brother, Charles Bailey of Atlanta; sister, Evelyn Frampton of Lamesa; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Faye Black
ODESSA — Faye Black, 90, of Odessa, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Hospice House.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Eisenhower Church of Christ with Burt Groves officiating. Burial will be at Ector County cemetery. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Oklahoma. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She worked at Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary snack bar.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Kathy Marshall of Odessa; sister, Jessie Holland of Alamogordo, N.M.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Rita Jo Campbell
ANDREWS — Rita Jo Campbell, 68, of Andrews, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Hospice House in Odessa.
No services are scheduled. Arrangements are by McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
She was born in Owens. She was a clerk with C.R. Anthony’s in Longview until her retirement.
SURVIVOR: Sister, Betty Eubank of Andrews.

Joyce Dingler
KERMIT — Joyce Jean Dingler, 76, of Dallas, formerly of Kermit, a homemaker, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at her residence.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Kermit cemetery. Arrangements are by Family Services Funeral Parlor.
She was born in Lelia Lake.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Larry Dingler of Dallas and Richard Dingler of Plano; daughters, Robbie Dunn of Pampa, Dana Pena of Kermit and Linda Baker of Monahans; sister, Earline Howard of Nashville, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

James Forrester Jr.
ODESSA — James Price Forrester Jr., 82, of Odessa, a retired accountant for Gulf Oil Corp., died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, in Odessa.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
He was born in Lawton, Okla. He was a U.S. Army Medic veteran of World War II.
SURVIVORS: Son, Bradley S. Forrester of Odessa; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Marguerite Kaufman
FORT STOCKTON — Marguerite E. Kaufman, 97, of Fort Stockton, a retired telephone schedule clerk, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, in Fort Stockton.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Agnes Catholic Church with the Rev. David Herrera officiating. Burial will be at East Hill cemetery. Arrangements are by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
She was born in Denver. She was a 16-year resident of Fort Stockton. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Son, Louis G. Kaufman of Brooklyn, N.Y.; daughter, Betty Howell of Fort Stockton; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
