Jeffery Kent McLaurin
DENVER CITY — Funeral services for Jeffery Kent McLaurin, 39, of Odessa, Texas, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at First Baptist Church in Denver City with Minister Phillip Golden officiating. Funeral services will be under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home of Denver City.
Jeff McLaurin passed away Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, in Odessa. He was born Oct. 15, 1964, in Denver City. He married
Patricia Arnold on Feb. 15, 2003, in Midland. He had lived in Odessa since 2002, moving from Denver City. He was a tool pusher for Key Energy. He was very active in his spiritual life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hudson in 1981; his mother, Shirley Jean in 1997; and one stepson, Shane Arnold in 1998.
Survivors include his wife, Trish McLaurin of Odessa; sons, Bryant Keith and Brandon Kent McLaurin of Denver City; brother, Donny McLaurin of Denver City; sister, Lynette Swift of Lubbock; and one step-granddaughter.

Henly Allen
CORPUS CHRISTI — Henly Garland Allen, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2004, at the age of 76.
He was born September 4, 1927, in Anson, Texas. Garland graduated from Corpus Christi Senior High School in 1944. He was stationed in Japan and Korea during the Korean War and was a member of the 700th Ordinance Division of the Army. He married
Bobbie Jean Melton on September 5, 1952, whom preceded him in death. Garland was employed by Driscoll Children’s Hospital from 1952-1970, and from 1978-1999, contributing 39 years of service. He also was employed at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas, from 1970-1978. He was a member of the Texas Hospital Association and the American Society of Hospital Engineers.
He is survived by two sons, Rex and wife, Susan Allen, of Sherman, Texas, and Rod Allen and wife, Tracy, of Odessa, Texas; daughter, Suzan Stratton and husband, Wayne, of Midland; and two grandsons, Wade Allen and Kyle Stratton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in remembrance of H. Garland Allen to Driscoll Children’s Hospital, Attn: Development Department, 3533 S. Alameda, Corpus Christi, TX 78411.
Mable Schneider
ODESSA — Mable Schneider, 72, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at her residence. She was born Dec. 18, 1931, in Littlefield, Texas, to William and Ethel Heberling Haskell. She moved to Odessa in the 1950s from Kermit. She married
Gene Schneider Feb. 24, 1962, in Odessa.
Mrs. Schneider was past matron of the Eastern Star Chapter 447, past president of the Odessa Study Club, past president of the Odessa Contemporary Garden Club, past president of Laureate Alpha Phi of Beta Sigma Phi, past president of the Christian Women’s Club, past president of the Social Order of Beauceant, district instructor for the Reach To Recovery Program of the American Cancer Society and past mother adviser of the Rainbow for Girls Odessa Assembly #114.
She is survived by her husband, Gene Schneider of Odessa; son, Larry Schneider of Ruidoso, N.M.; daughter, Jerry Schneider of Odessa; sisters, Barbara Nichols of Odessa, Betty Conley and Jean Covington, both of San Angelo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at the Antioch Christian Church with Rev. Don Fankhauser and Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family requests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Marion Kenneth Main
ODESSA — Marion M. “M.K.” Main, 85, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village.
He was born June 12, 1918, in Joplin, Mo., to Ralph and Mary Main. He graduated from the University of Missouri at Rolla (Missouri School of Mines) in 1943 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering and was a retired petroleum engineer. He had worked for Shell Oil Co. for many years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Christian Church.
He married
Helen Wadkins on Sept. 8, 1940, in Joplin, Mo.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Main of Odessa; son, Stephen K. Main and wife Lynda of Odessa; daughters, Linda Kay Robinette of Amarillo, Gail A. Perry of Houston and Marilyn J. Main of Odessa; brother, Max Main of Battleground, Wash.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at the First Christian Church with Dr. David Mindel officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Robinette, Irvin Neddles, Joey Main, Randy Morris, Ronnie Self and John Arrick.
Honorary pallbearers will be Guy Elliot, Jack Crane, Walt Banisky, Foy Bates, Curtis Winn, Hugh Wethersby, L.J. Marrs, Jack Rhodes, Steve Johnson and Bill Jackson.

Debra Louise Gentry
ODESSA — Debra Louise Gentry, 3, of Odessa, a pre-kindergarten student at Fannin Elementary, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2004, at her residence, She was born on August 31, 2000, in Odessa to Ernest Gentry and Connie Kiser.
Always eager, Debra as well as her brother, John, would get up early just to meet their bus drivers, Debbie O’Neal and Kathryn Hill, always trying to hurry them up to get them to school so they could greet their teachers, Mrs. Holly and Mrs. Cecil, with a smile at the doorway.
Debra is survived by her parents, Ernest Gentry of Odessa and Connie Kiser of Gallup, N.M.; sister, Kayla Kiser of Gallup, N.M.; grandparents, George and Pat Gentry of Odessa, Teresa Kiser of Gallup, N.M., David Kiser of Georgetown; great-grandmother, Louise Brooks of Odessa.
We the family are eternal grateful to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for allowing us the time and the love with these two Beautiful Angels. As you know, we will greatly and deeply miss you Debra and John.

John Aaron Gentry
ODESSA — John Aaron Gentry, 5, of Odessa, a pre-kindergarten student at Fannin Elementary, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2004, at his residence. He was born January 10, 1999, in Odessa to Ernest Gentry and Connie Kiser.

Paul Lujan
CRANE — Paul Lujan, 32, of Crane, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2004, in Ward County, Texas.
Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2004, in the Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Father Nilo Nalugon officiating. Burial will follow in the Crane County cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Paul was born on August 20, 1971, in Odessa. He was a flight paramedic for Medical Center Hospital in Odessa and a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
Survivors include his parents, Ruben and Gloria Lujan of Crane; brother, David Lujan and his wife, Libby Franco Lujan, of Odessa; sister, Wendy Miranda and her husband, Richie, of Odessa.
Salomon Tavarez
ODESSA — Salomon Tavarez, 88, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at his residence. He was born on March 11, 1916, in Shafter, Texas, to Canuto and Emeteria Tavarez.
All his life, he was a laborer working for the U.S. Government surveyors and Home Building-Wiley Brown Construction.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Father Chavez officiating.
He was survived by his wife, Carlota Tavarez of Jal, N.M.; sons, Sergio Antonio and wife, Maria Victoria Tavarez, of Jal, N.M., Luis Armando Tavarez of Jal, N.M., Salomon Tavarez Jr. of Chihuahua, Mexico, Miguel Angel Tavarez and William Wroda II of Albuquerque, N.M., Javier Tavarez and wife, Pricilla, of Jal, N.M.; daughters, Gloria Estella Hernandez and husband, Alonso, of Presidio, Elizama Velasquez and husband, Alberto, of Presidio, Leticia Gonzales and husband, Oscar, of Carlsbad, N.M., Marta Isela Luna and husband, Daniel, of Odessa; daughter-in-law, Dianna Tavarez of Carlsbad, N.M.; a brother, Roman Tavarez and wife, Margarita, of Pecos; 27 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Tavarez is preceded in death by a son, Juan Carlos Tavarez.

William ‘Gene’ Eugene Wester
ODESSA — William “Gene” Eugene Wester, 58, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2004. Gene was born in Weatherford, Texas, to Harvey and Bonnie Lee Wester.
He graduated from Odessa High School in 1964 and went on to Angelo State University, graduating in 1969. He worked as a loan officer for Odessa Savings and Loan, later opening his own appraisal business. He served his country in the United States Army from 1969-1971. He has been a member of Belmont Baptist Church, the VFW and the American Legion.
His parents, Harvey and Bonnie Lee Wester, preceded him in death.
Gene is survived by his sisters, Millie Ward and husband, A.L., of Kermit, Carolyn Farris and husband, Jimmie, of Odessa, Laverne Baxter and husband, Benny, of Odessa, Patsy Roper and husband, Eddie, of Midland; son, Bryan Wester; daughter, Sherry Wester, both of Odessa; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Thursday, March 25, 2004, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Henry Freund officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with VFW Military honors.
Pallbearers will be A.L. Ward, Jimmie Farris, Benny Baxter, Eddie Roper, Aaron Roper and Tommy McCrury.
Memorials may be directed to the VFW.
