Frances Whatley

AMARILLO -- Frances Marie Whatley, 74, of Amarillo, a retired school teacher, died Tuesday, May 5, 1998, in Amarillo.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Paramount Baptist Church. Arrangements by Schooler Funeral Home Inc.

She was born in New Boston and moved to Amarillo from Brownwood in 1992. She was a Baptist.

Survivors: Daughter, Jeanelle Saylor of Amarillo; son, David Whatley of Illinois; brothers, Hiram Duffer Jr. of Waco, Douglas Duffer of Wichita, Kan., Johnny Duffer of Auburn, Wash.; and two grandchildren.

Stella Deaver

ANDREWS -- Stella Deaver, 89, of Andrews, died Wednesday, May 6, 1998, at Permian General Hospital.

Services are pending with McNett Funeral Home.

Eva Godfrey

MIDLAND -- Eva Hayes Godfrey, 89, of Midland, retired owner of Lano Beauty and Barber Shop in Midland, died Monday, May 4, 1998, in an Odessa hospital.

Services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at First Methodist Church Chapel with the Rev. David Miracle officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements by Pipkin Funeral Home.

She was born in Vera, and moved to Odessa four years ago. She was Methodist.

Survivors: Daughters, Judean Bennett and Nancy Stark, both of Odessa, Raynell Whitaker of Coleman; and eight great-grandchildren.

Martina Gonzales

ALPINE -- Martina Gomez Gonzales, 71, of Alpine, died Monday, May 4, 1998, at her residence.

Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. today at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Beto Lopez officiating. Burial will be at Holy Angels cemetery. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.

She was born in San Jose and was a lifetime resident of the Big Bend area.

Survivors: Husband, Manuel Gonzales of Alpine; sons, Vincent Gonzales of Kermit, Joe Gonzales of San Antonio, Emilio, Nabor, Luty and Leroy Gonzales, all of Alpine; daughters, Ernestina Lemmonds and Ester Escovedo, both of Cisco, Maria Lopez of Fort Stockton, Juana Stroud of Ranger, Maria Hernandez of Alpine, Lupe Munoz of Fort Stockton; brother, Catarino Gomez of Arizona; sisters, Santos Madrid of Jal, N.M., Nico Lara of Kermit; 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Clinton Hilditch

MONAHANS -- Clinton Leon Hilditch, 79, of Monahans, a retired maintenance supervisor, died Monday, May 4, 1998, at his residence.

Graveside services were held May 5, 1998, at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

Survivors: No survivors listed.

Wesley Phelps

CRANE -- Wesley David Phelps, 14, of Crane, died Sunday, May 3, 1998, at Crane Memorial Hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lyndell Lee officiating. Burial will be at Crane County cemetery. Arrangements by Richard W. Box Funeral Homes.

He was born in Odessa and had lived in San Marcos and Odessa before moving to Crane. He was a student at Crane Middle School.

Survivors: Mother, Penny Weatherby of Crane; father, Larry Phelps of Odessa; grandparents, Raymond and Dixie Weatherby of Crane, Elizabeth Phelps of Fort Worth; and brother, Blazer Phelps of San Marcos.

Paula Sanchez

PECOS -- Paula O. Sanchez, 80, of Toyah, a homemaker, died Tuesday, May 5, 1998, at Reeves County Hospital in Pecos.

Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Emily Catholic Church with the Rev. Antonio Mena officiating. Burial will be at Toyah Catholic cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

She was born in Presidio and was a lifetime resident of Toyah. She was Catholic.

Survivors: Husband, Bartolo L. Sanchez of Toyah; sons, Jesus Sanchez and Bartolo Sanchez, both of Toyah, Daniel and Domingo Sanchez, both of Odessa; daughters, Paula Sanchez and Elpidia S. Valdez, both of Toyah, Delma Machuca of Midland; brother, Jesus Ornela of Pecos; sisters, Carmen Sanchez of Balmorhea, Virginia Carrasco of Barstow; 25 grandchildren and seven great-grandchild.

Janette Stallcup

ODESSA -- Janette R. Stallcup, 53, of Odessa, a retired testing administrator, died Sunday, May 3, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Servivces will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Terry Pugh offficiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Burkburnett cemetery in Burkburnett. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Oklahoma City.

Survivors: Husband, Dick Stallcup of Odessa; sons, Richard E. Stallcuo of Lewisville, Steve W. Stallcup of Memphis, Tenn., Fred L. Stallcup III of Abilene; and brother, Perry W. Ellis of Austin.

Olen Wilson

ODESSA -- Olen Dewitt Wilson, 71, of Odessa, a retired industrial planter, died Monday, May 4, 1998, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with Jerry Rogers officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born in Little River, Ark. He was a Jehovah's Witness.

Survivors: Wife, Irma Irene Wilson of Odessa; step-son, Gary B. Wheeler of Sanger; step-daughters, Barbara Beasley of Tucumari, N.M., Connie Hood of Carlsbad, N.M.; brothers, Luther Wilson of Hayworth, Okla., Robert Wilson of Ashtown, Ariz., Martin Wilson of Texarkana, Ark.; and sister, Willie Mae Bailey of Little Rock, Ark.

Arnaldo Villanueva

ANDREWS -- Arnaldo Simon "Arnie Villanueva, 30, of Andrews, died Monday, May 4, 1998, in Andrews.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Rev. Bernard Gulley officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at McNett Funeral Home. Burial will be at Andrews North cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.

He was born in American Falls, Idaho. He was Catholic.

Survivors: Wife, Lee Villanueva of Andrews; daughter, Magen Guthrie of Andrews; sons, Miguel Villanueva and Daniel Villanueva, both of Andrews; brother, Enrique Villanueva of Mercedes; sisters, Adela Arispe of Andrews, Carmen Villanueva and Emma Mendez, both of Odessa, and Maria Abalos of Hico.

Robert Tolbert

ODESSA -- Robert Tolbert, 47, of Odessa, died Tuesday, May 5, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Kevin Baker

ODESSA - Kevin Alan Baker, 37, of Odessa, a carpenter, died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at his residence.

He was born in Long Beach, Calif., and moved to Odessa 10 years ago. He was Baptist.
