Anna K. Lacy
ODESSA - Anna K. Lacy, 71, passed away at her residence in Odessa on Saturday, November 27, 2004.
She was born December 27, 1932, to Louis and Rose Skinner in Hope, AR. She married her husband, Leon Thomas Lacy on December 6, 1969, in Bosque Farms, NM.
She enjoyed the great outdoors, vacationing in the mountains and being out on the water. She also loved to play Bingo, gambling in Las Vegas, and going to the horse races.
Survivors include her husband, Leon T. Lacy of Odessa; sons, Freddie Saavedra and wife, Phoebe, of Hamstead, NC, and Britton Saavedra of Odessa; daughters, Lindy L. Goff and husband, Dennis, DeeAnn Saavedra and Lynn Williams, all of Odessa, and Jody Tsoodle and husband, James, of Albuquerque, NM; sister, Mary Lou Beagle of Ft. Worth, TX; eight grandchildren, Renee, Eric, Vanessa, Jeremy, Brandi, Olivia, Rachael and David; three great-grandchildren, DeeAnna, Amanda and Ethan; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A family visitation is scheduled Tuesday, November 30, 2004, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Memorial services are scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home with James Tsoodle officiating.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Marcella Tamayo Barrientes
ODESSA - Marcella Tamayo Barrientes, 82 years of age, passed away on December 6, 2004, at Deering Nursing Center in Odessa. She was born on March 16, 1922, at the Las Palmas Ranch in Brownsville, Texas, to Refugio and Ignacia Tamayo. She married Saturino Barrientes on May 21, 1938, he preceded her in death along with her brother; Natividad Tamayo, sister; Elvira Longoria and daughter-in-law, Trinidad “Trini” Barrientes.
She is survived by sons, Edward Rosas and wife, Cecilia, of Ft. Worth, David Barrientes Sr. of Odessa, Tony Barrientes and wife, Ofelia, of Odessa, Troy Barrientes and wife, Bertha, of San Antonio, Gilberto Barrientes Sr. of Odessa and Estevan Barrientes and wife, Emma, of Lamesa; daughters, Virginia Longoria and husband, Otimio, of Odessa and Marcella Aguirre and husband, Adolpho, of Lames; sister, Juanita Ramirez of California; 37 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited today, December 8, 2004, at 7 p.m. at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Reverend Joseph Uecker officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Otimio Longoria Jr., Johnny Ray Aguirre, Victor Barrientes, Daniel Barrientes, David Barrientes Jr., Rene Barrientes and Chris Barrientes.
A special thanks to the Deering Nursing Home nurses, administration and staff for all their wonderful assistance with the care of our mother.

Maria Del Refugio ‘Cuca’ Chavez
ODESSA - Maria Del Refugio “Cuca” Chavez, 63, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, TX.
She was born July 4, 1941, to Pedro and Mercedes Chavez in Sonora, TX. She was a teacher for Ector County Independent School District, and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Miss Chavez graduated from Sul Ross University. She continued to further her education by receiving two Master’s Degrees from East Texas State University. Her teacher’s certification included bilingual, early childhood, special education, art and general elementary. Miss Chavez began her teaching career in Eagle Pass, then went on to teach in Pearsall, TX., as well as San Antonio, TX. She retired from Travis Elementary in Odessa. Miss Chavez’ love for teaching extended to tutoring as well as teaching religious education classes.
“Cuca” as she was known by most, had a great love for family, life and friendships. She enjoyed various hobbies and was always full of life. She was a very generous and compassionate person. One example of this was the gift she left for others to continue to live through her generosity of organ donation. After organ donation, it was Cuca’s wish to be cremated.
Survivors include her brothers, Jaime Chavez and wife, Andrea, and Jesus Chavez and wife, Elizabeth, all of Sonora, TX; and sisters, Olga Chavez of Odessa, Maura Chavez of Chicago, Ill., and Llolanda C. Fonseca and husband, Gregorio, of Sonora, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The rosary will be recited in union with the Novena to Our Lady Of Guadalupe at 6 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2004, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Sonora, TX. A Mass Celebration of her life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 11, 2004, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with William DuBuisson O.M.I. will be officiating.
Miss Chavez’ last wishes in lieu of flowers was for monetary donations to be made to the American Diabetes Association and the National Kidney Foundation.
The family of Maria Del Refugio Chavez would like to express their sincere gratitude to Father Bill and Father Frey, the Permian Basin Dyalisis Center and her devoted Technicians, Odessa Medical Center Hospital, nursing staff at I.C.U. Dept., Odessa E.M.S. Lifeline and Drs. Oliver and Newsome. May God continue to bless everyone who helped during her illness.

Marjorie Francis
ODESSA - Marjorie Francis, 82, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Monday, December 6, 2004, at the Mabee Health Care Center in Midland. She was born December 11, 1921, in DeRidder, LA. She married Billy Gene Francis Nov. 8, 1942, in Las Vegas. She was a homemaker and of the Presbyterian faith. She was a member of the Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary, the Odessa Garden Club, and the Odessa Study Club.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Gene Francis of Odessa; son, John Frank Francis and wife, Judith, of Alexandria, Va.; daughter, Kathleen Best of Amarillo; sister, Frances Lytel and husband, Don, of Lafayette, La.; three grandchildren, Eric Best, Shawn Best and Sarah Frances; and two great-grandchildren, Tanner and Ben Best.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Nora Fitch officiating.
The family requests memorials may be made to your favorite charity.

Larry Dean Mayfield
ODESSA - Larry Dean Mayfield, 41, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born November 11, 1963, in Seminole, TX. He was co-owner of Compusat Services. He was a member of Bannock Burn Baptist Church in Austin.
He is survived by his wife, Loy Mayfield of Odessa; son, Ricky Mayfield of Odessa; stepson, Ross Groening of Kyle, TX.; stepdaughter, Shauna Cook of Odessa; parents, Richard and Emajon Mayfield of Odessa; grandmother, Frances Johnston of Seminole; three grandchildren, Haley, Faith and Brandon; and in-laws, W.R. “Bob” and Emagine Barnes; and a host of family and friends.
There will be a visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2004, at Central Baptist Church with Rev. David Johnson officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. at the Gaines County cemetery in Seagraves.

Elidia Alvarez
PECOS - Elidia Alvarez, 77, of Pecos, a homemaker, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Catherine Catholic Church with the Rev. Manuel Munoz officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.
She was born in Loving, N.M., and was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Husband, German Alvarez of Pecos; sons, Rojelio Alvarez and Orlando Alvarez, both of Pecos; daughters, Corina Matta of Pecos and Imelda Brown of Odessa; brothers, Roberto Armendariz of Carlsbad, N.M. and Raul Armendariz of Odessa; sisters, Elvira Dominguez of Pecos, Esperanza Alvarez of El Paso and Emma Uriquidi of Mount Ida, Ark.; and seven grandchildren.

Reta B. Capers
FORT STOCKTON - Reta B. Capers, 84, of Fort Stockton, a retired baker, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, in McCamey.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at East Hill cemetery.
She was born in Young County and moved to Fort Stockton in 1964 from Imperial.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Fredie Capers and Jerry Capers, both of Fort Stockton, Roy Capers of San Angelo; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Geraldine Lorena Hulsey
ODESSA - Geraldine Lorena Hulsey, 70, of Odessa, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, in Norman, Okla.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
She was born in Keota, Okla., and retired from the University of Oklahoma.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Rhonda Arledge of San Angelo; sons, Dewayne Fletcher and Mike Hulsey, both of Norman, Okla., and Roger Hulsey of Odessa; sisters, Edna Stamps of Odessa, Jewel Gaultney, Sibby Walden and Kathryn Palmer, all of Oklahoma; brother, Kenneth Cole of Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Gregoria Ortega Hinojos
MONAHANS - Gregoria Ortega Hinojos, 79, of Monahans, a homemaker, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, in Odessa.
Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. today at St. John Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. John Lucido officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery.
She was born in Pecos.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Lori Garcia of Monahans and Lydia Aguilar of Midland; sister, Felis Vasquez of Monahans; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Barnie “B.R.” Jones
ODESSA - Barnie “B.R.” Jones, 78, of Odessa, owner of Jones Brothers Dirt and Paving, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at his residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Griffin Jones officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
He was born in Big Spring.
SURVIVORS: Wife, LaCretia Jones of Odessa; sons, Rex Chitty and Kyle Chitty, both of Odessa, Kirk Chitty of Odem and Justin Jones of Daytona Beach, Fla.; daughter, Tammie Jones of Odessa; brothers, Earl Jones and Troy Jones, both of Odessa; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Sarah Sanders Tompkin
ANDREWS - Sarah Sanders Tompkin, 84, of Andrews, retired co-owner of Tompkin’s Eastside Fina, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, in Van Buren, Ark., following a brief illness.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Andrews North cemetery with Dan Galloway and Bishop Love Hambrick officiating.
She was born in Lamar, Okla., and moved to Fort Smith, Ark., recently from Andrews, where she had lived for 40 years.
SURIVORS: Daughters, Sarah Sue Able of Truth or Consequences, N.M., and Janie Arnold of San Antonio; sons, Jimmy Tompkins of Fort Smith and Chris Tompkins of Andrews; brothers, Louis Sanders of Maybank, Bill Sanders of Rush Springs, Okla., and Henry Sanders of Lindsay, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

James Valton Willingham
FORT STOCKTON - James Valton Willingham, 70, of Webster, Fla., died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, in Fort Stockton.
Services are pending with Memorial Funeral Home of Fort Stockton.

Julian Jesus Lopez Cardenas
ODESSA - Julian Jesus Lopez Cardenas, 3, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at Children’s Medical Center Hospital in Dallas.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at 314 W. 48th St. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Woodruff officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery.
He was born in Odessa. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Parents, Jorge and Gloria Cardenas Sr. of Odessa; grandparents, Adalberto and Alicia Cardenas of Odessa; brother, Jorge Cardenas Jr. of Odessa; and sisters, Bridget Garza and Diana Cardenas, both of Odessa.
