Ascencion ‘Ace’ Serrano Suchil Jr.
ODESSA - Ascencion “Ace” Serrano Suchil Jr., 40, of Odessa, passed away January 12, 2005, at Hospice House. He was born May 27, 1964, in Ojinaga, Mexico, to his parents, Ascencion Gonzales Suchil and Elvira Serrano Suchil. On February 14, 1996, he married Corina H. Suchil in Odessa. At the age of fifteen, he received the All State Award in Auto Mechanics; he used this talent at his job where he worked as an Auto Body Repairman and owner of Ace’s Auto Body. He loved being surrounded by his family and friends, and enjoyed boating and fishing. He was also proud to produce, play and sing Christian music for the Lord. Ascencion also enjoyed playing the bass guitar in the stage band at Ector High School.
Ascencion is preceded in death by his grandparents, Viciente F. Serrano, Manuela M. Serrano and Balbino G. Suchil.
Ascencion is survived by his wife, Corina H. Suchil; son, Martin Larez; parents, Ascencion G. Suchil and Elvira S. Suchil; sisters, Maria Suchil, Dora Suchil1 and Aleida Suchil; brothers, Oscar Suchil and Lonnie Brown; and nieces and nephews, Evette Garcia, Richard Garcia, Xylina Suchil, Evianna Suchil, Oscar Jr. Suchil, Tristian Suchil, Amber Hernandez, Emmaly Salazar, Adam Zubia, Destiny Ramirez, Tavari Brown and Lonnie Brown Jr.
The Suchil family would like to give special thanks to Home Hospice and Hospice House for all of the wonderful care, and also give special thanks to Rev. Rosario Hill.
A rosary is scheduled for Friday, January 14, 2005, at 7 p.m. at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, January 15, 2005, at 1 p.m. at the Templo Buenas Nuevas Church at 505 Vine Street in Odessa with Rev. Rosario Hill officiating.
Pallbearers are Oscar Suchil, Lonnie Brown, Manuel Marqez, Jeff Pena, JR Ramon and Miguel Angel Brito, and honorary pallbearers are Martin Larez, Richard Garcia and Oliver Wilson.
Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Harvey L. Hubbard
GRANBURY - Harvey L. Hubbard, 82, of Granbury, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, in Mesquite. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Wiley Funeral Home. Burial will be at Acton cemetery. Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hubbard was born July 27, 1922, in Mexia. He married Dorrace Rollins, June 8, 1944, in Godley. Mr. Hubbard served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He owned and operated Harvey’s Jewelry and Loan in Odessa prior to retirement and had lived in Granbury since 1994.
Survivors Wife, Dorrace Hubbard of Granbury; nieces, Sharon Taylor and husband, Rev. Carl R. Taylor, Lynette Adams and husband, Rev. Thomas Adams, and Joy Green; nephew, Donald W. Hubbard and wife, Lynette; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews; and eight great-great-nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Helen Burke
Odessa - Dorothy Helen Burke, 72, of Bangs, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Charles Tapley officiating.
SURVIVORS None listed.

Regina Vaudine Combest
SEMINOLE - Regina Vaudine Combest, 72, of Seminole, a retired nurse, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, at Seminole Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. David Moore officiating. Burial will be at Gaines County Memorial cemetery. Arrangements are by Boyer Funeral Home.
She was born in Cyril, Okla. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church.
SURVIVORS Husband, Jack Combest of Seminole; son, Jackson D. Combest of Elgin; daughter, Tonya Brzozowski of Seminole; brothers, Dale Earl and Donald Earl, both of Seminole; sister, Doris Davis of Seminole; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Israel Matta
PECOS - Israel Matta, 51, of Pecos, a substitute teacher, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at Reeves County Hospital.
Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with the Rev. Gustavo Lopez officiating. Burial will be at Mount Evergreen cemetery.
He was born in Pecos. He served in the Army and was a Catholic.
SURVIVORS Mother, Emma Guzman of Pecos; daughter, Melanie Matta of Austin; brother, Ernesto Matta of Hobbs, N.M.; and one grandchild.

Ignacio Ramirez
SEMINOLE - Ignacio Ramirez, 89, of Corpus Christi, a former policeman, farmer and construction worker, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, at TriSun Health Care Center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Hugh Thekkel officiating. Burial will be at Gaines County cemetery. Arrangements are by Boyer Funeral Home.
He was born in Rodriquez, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
SURVIVORS Sons, Manuel Ramirez of Seminole and Jessie Ramirez of Thrall; daughters, Gloria Gonzalez of Corpus Christi, Andrea Martinez of Seminole, Janie Ramirez of Seagraves and Josie DeHoyos of Kilgore; brothers, Guillermo Ramirez of Miranda City, Oscar Ramirez of Laredo, Jose Ramirez of San Antonio and Ramon Ramirez of Orleans, Mich.; sisters, Antonia Ramos of Anahuac, N.L., Mexico, and Celia Gonzalez of Miami, Okla.; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Helen Burke
Odessa - Dorothy Helen Burke, 72, of Bangs, formerly of Odessa, passed away Jan. 10, 2005. She was born July 12, 1932, to her parents Haden C. Roberts and Elizabeth Coolbaugh Roberts in Stanton. She was educated in Big Spring and became a nurse where she worked at Big Spring State Hospital for 15 years; for four years at Saint Michael’s Girl School in Dallas; and for one year at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo. She was also a member of Westwood Baptist Church in Odessa.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Ronnie Ray Steen; her sister, Ethel Mae Roberts; and two infant children.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Ricky Steen and wife, Melanie, of Alton, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Linda Kay Steen-Miller of Odessa; brothers, Claude Roberts of Bangs, and Raymond and David Roberts, both of Saint Lawrence, and Johnny Roberts of Garden City; and sisters, Della Kinard of Fort Worth and Marie Wilder of Dallas. Dorothy is also survived by her granddaughters, Shannon and Jami Jo; and grandsons, Ronnie Steen and wife, Melissa, David, Justin, Christopher, Patrick and Raymond. She has four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services for Dorothy Burke are scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa.

Brian D. Harrison
ODESSA - Brian D. Harrison, 24, of Odessa, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2005, in Upton County.
He was born October 23, 1980, in Odessa.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Aniah Arredondo and Granny “Bo”.
He was survived by wife, Kimberly Harrison of Odessa; stepsons, Adam Romero and Ulysseus Romero, both of Odessa; mother, Patricia Harrison; mother-in-law, Delia Vasquez; sister-in law, Michelle Ochoa and husband, Ruben; brothers-in-law, Alfred Sanchez and wife, Mayna, Anthony Sanchez, David Vasquez and wife, Judy, and Fidel Flores; aunt, Vickie Harrison; cousins, Mark, Kim and Kami Chandler; and 17 nieces and nephews.
He was a loving husband and father to his stepsons and looking forward to the arrival of his new baby girl, Brianna Michelle. He was loved by all who knew him and admired for his bravery and kind heart. He was a loving son and friend and touched the lives of many. His life had just begun. He was taken from us too soon, but his memory will always stand strong in the heart of the numerous who loved him. He will be truly and greatly missed. “We love you, Brian.”
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. today, Jan. 13, 2005, at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Reverend Joseph Uecker officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Vasquez, Santiago Marcelleno, Manuel Valles, Richard Wiseman, Albert Martinez, Mike Harrison, Mark Chandler and Eddie Harrison.

Aubrey Martin Mills
Levelland - Aubrey Martin Mills, of Sundown, was born Feb. 2, 1935, and passed from this world on Jan. 8, 2005. Aubrey was a hardworking, loving provider for a large family that will sorely miss him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Mills; his father, James Thomas Mills; and seven siblings.
His survivors include his loving wife, Bernice, and their seven children:
Bill and his wife, Dana, of Olla, La., LaDon and her husband, Harlley Hunt, of Levelland, Loretta and her husband, Lynn Lewis, of Odessa, Mike and his wife, Donna, of Amarillo, Janell and her husband, Chano Cirilo, of Lubbock, James and his wife, Snow, of Lubbock, and Darrell and Krissi of Abilene. He was grandfather of 17 grandchildren and great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren. His survivors also include, his brothers, Jean of Oregon and Lonnie and his wife, Rosemary of Tow, and his sister, Mary Ann and her husband, Allen Dail of Dayton. He was uncle to numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at Geo. C. Price Funeral Chapel in Levelland. Burial will follow in Sundown cemetery. The Rev. James Vaughn will officiate the service at the funeral home and Rev. Ron Cruddas will officiate at the graveside. Aubrey’s six grandsons will be pallbearers.
The memory of Aubrey Martin Mills will live on for generations in the hearts of this widespread web we call family that was begun many years ago. We love you Pee-paw. You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten.
The family suggests memorials to: Masonic Children’s Home, Dallas.

Laura Evelyn Jones
Andrews - Laura Evelyn Jones, 90, of Andrews, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at Permian Residential Care Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glen Pipes officiating. Burial will be at Andrews West cemetery.
She was born in Putnam. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors Husband, Dick Jones of Andrews; son, Richard “Don” Jones of Eunice, N.M.; daughters, Betty Barnes of San Antonio and Johnnie Dehart of Alpine; brother, Royce Shults of Pittsburg, Texas; sister, Marie Turney of Midland; five grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Joe M. Parks
Fort Stockton - Joe M. Parks, 42, of San Angelo, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, in San Angelo.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at East Hill cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Jim Miles officiating. Arrangements are by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
He was born in Fort Stockton.
Survivors Parents, George and Beverly Parks of Fort Stockton; and brothers, George Parks Alan “Scooter” Parks of Odessa, Dee Parks of Brady and Rick Parks of San Angelo.

Thelma Nadine King
ODESSA - Thelma Nadine King, 84, of Odessa, passed away on Jan. 10, 2005, at Hospice House. She was born on Nov. 12, 1920, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to her parents Flora Pearl and Artie Bailey. Thelma married Zurel King on Sept. 27, 1948, in Purcell, Okla., and they later moved to Odessa in 1956.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Zurel in 2003.
Thelma is survived by her sons, Charles Willis of Redding, Calif., and Bobby Willis of Livermore, Calif. Daughters; Dayna Smith, and Debbie Thompson, both of Odessa. Niece; Sherian Reinhardtsen of Belton. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Mark Willis, Edna Ochoa, Tana Priest, Ryan Willis, Jayme Willis, Jayda Palmour, Raelyn Smith, Skylar Smith, Rocky Thompson, and Tammye Hayes.
Graveside services for Thelma King are scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Emmett Barnard officiating.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa.

Rebecca Frances Isham Monroe
COMANCHE - Rebecca Frances Isham Monroe, age 84, passed away at 8:40 p.m. January 10, at an Arlington hospital after a short illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at Hall & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Oakwood cemetery in Comanche.
Rebecca was born May 16, 1920, in Comanche, Texas, to parents, Doc Green Isham and Margaret Addie Sturkie Isham. In 1942, she traveled to Faimouth, Massachusetts, to marry Earl E. Monroe, before he shipped out for duty in Africa during WWII. In 1952, Rebecca moved with her husband to Odessa, where she spent most of her adult life. In Odessa, she was a homemaker and founding member of Bethany Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. Monroe. She relocated after her husband’s death to Grand Prairie, where she was a loving part of her daughter’s family. She was a member of the Martha Class at Inglewood Baptist Church. Her grandchildren called her Meme, as did most of their friends.
Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Robert Heath, granddaughter, Heather Brooke Heath, all of Grand Prairie; grandson, Cortney Monroe Harvey of Lubbock; nieces, Mazelle Hightower of Amarillo; Claire Johnson of Cleburne, LaDonna Schillinger of San Angelo, nephews Leonard Monroe of Midland, Mac Monroe of Irving, their spouses and children, sisters-in-law Vera Monroe of Midland and Lanore Monroe of Odessa; brothers-in-law Ray Monroe and Bill Monroe of Odessa. She also leaves her little dog, Treasure, who was her constant companion.

Velma Mattie Scott Montgomery
ODESSA - Velma Mattie Scott Montgomery, 93, of Odessa, passed away January 10, 2005, at Hospice House. Velma was born in Jones County, TX, to Ora Annie Tucker Scott and Charles Carlton Scott. As a young woman, she moved to California and found the love of her life James N. Montgomery. They married on June 2, 1940, in Los Angeles. They moved back to Odessa in 1965 to be closer to family. Together they owned and operated Carroll’s Café. She was a member of Sixth and Jackson Church of Christ, where she was active in ladies classes for many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents, and her sisters, Birdie Starr, Faye Starr, Eva R. Norman; and brother, Clyde Scott.
She is survived by her niece and long time caregiver, Liz Roberson and husband, Bill, their children, Katherene Nelson and Chris Roberson; and two brothers, Charlie M. Scott and wife, Carol, of Buchanan, TX., Alvie R. Scott and wife, Molly, of Farmington, N.M. Velma has one sister, Ada Lee Scott of Wichita Falls. She is also survived by 26 nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.
There is a visitation Wednesday, January 12, 2005, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Services are scheduled for Thursday, January 13, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials can be sent to Sixth and Jackson Church of Christ.

Jason Ray Sanders
ODESSA - Jason Ray Sanders, 33, passed away Monday, January 10, 2005. He was born January 14, 1971, to Larry and Kim Sanders in Pecos, Texas.
Jason married Elena Heda of Kherson, Ukraine, on December 12, 1998, in Pecos, Texas. During his lifetime, he lived in Saragosa, Pecos and Ft. Stockton, before moving to Odessa in August 2003. He was previously employed by Smithers Automotive Test Track of Pecos and Kett engineering of Ft. Stockton and since 2003, he has been employed by West Texas Peterbuilt of Odessa.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Jason was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which he attended faithfully with his family throughout his life. He and Elena recently had their marriage solemnized in the Lubbock, Texas, Temple, where they were sealed together for all eternity.
Jason is survived by his wife, Elena Sanders of Odessa; two sons, Dylan Ray Sanders and Bronson Toleh Sanders of Odessa. His parents, Larry and Kim Sanders of Odessa. Two brothers, Jeremy Sanders of Pecos and Chase Sanders of Odessa. One sister, Ceneca Burkholder of Odessa, and one nephew, Paxton Burkholder of Odessa, father and mother-in-law, Anatoliy and Alla Heda of Kherson, Ukraine. Jason left behind uncles, aunts, cousins and many loved friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Cecil and Dolly Sanders of Balmorhea, TX., and his maternal grandparents, Joe Bennett and Jaylynn Kerley of Saragosa, TX.
The Sanders family would like to give special thanks to friends at West Texas Peterbuilt, Freedom GMC, and our brothers and sisters at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, for their love and generous support during this difficult time.
