HICO -- Cleo LaNelle (Linda) Whiteside, 76, of Hico, a retired bookkeeper, died Tuesday, March 24, 1998, at her residence.

Services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Rutledge Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jess Chaney officiating. Burial will be at Clairette cemetery. Arrangements by Rutledge Funeral Home.

She was born in Hawley and was a 20-year resident of Pecos. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Jack Whiteside of Hico; daughter, Sheryla Custer of Hamilton; and four grandchildren.

Emilio Diaz

ODESSA -- Emilio Diaz, 63, of Odessa, died Tuesday, March 24, 1998, at his residence.

Services are pending with Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.

Richard Dix

ODESSA -- Richard Dix, 56, of Odessa, owner of Dix Oilfield Automation Company, died Tuesday, March 24, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services are pending with Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Lidia Bitolas

PECOS -- Lidia Bitolas, 53, of Pecos, a teacher for Pecos-Barstow-Toyah School District, died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at her residence.

Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. at Pecos Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m. at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in Pecos with the Rev. Antonio Mena officiating. Burial will be at the Barstow cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.

She was born in Bartsow and was a lifetime resident of Pecos. She was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Bobby Bitolas of Pecos; parents, Felix and Maria Rodriguez of Barstow; brothers, Reyes Rodriguez of Pecos and Manuel Rodriguez of Barstow; sisters, Cruz Anaya of Pecos, Freda Griffin and Susan Rodriguez, both of Barstow.

Robert Edgerton

MIDLAND -- Robert G. "Bob" Edgerton, 78, retired Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Midland, died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church Glass Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Allen Williams officiating in Midland Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.

He was born in Edinboro, Penn. He was Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Eva Edgerton of Midland; sons, Robert L. Huffman of Speedway, Ind., Gerald E. Edgerton of Odessa; daughter, Carol Wiginton of Lubbock; sisters, Esther Toreson of Ashville, N.C., Gertrude McDaniel of Meadville, Penn.; and nine grandchildren.

Apolonio Esparza

KERMIT -- Apolonio "Polito" Rodriguez Esparza, 80, of Kermit, a retired construction worker, died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Midland.

Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit with the Rev. Ralph Barranger officiating. Burial will be at the Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel Inc.

He was born in Buena Vista and was a lifetime resident of Kermit. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Nasaria Esparza of Kermit; sons, Apolonio V. Esparza Jr. of Monahans and Ray Esparza of Odessa; daughters, Gladys Mesa of Odessa, Linda Salinas and Blanca Kannel, both of Fort Stockton and Nancy Pedraza of Wickett; brother, Santos Esparza of Fort Stockton; sister, Paula Rey of Imperial; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Ralph Hammitt

GRANDFALLS -- Ralph Wilson Hammitt, 85, of Big Spring, a retired salesman, died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Big Spring.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Tamarisk cemetery in Grandfalls with the Rev. Bill Cook officiating. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

He was born in Thurber and was a former resident of San Angelo. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Brother, Bill Hammitt of Monahans; sisters, Mertice Payne of Odessa and Marie Howard of Bakersville, Calif.

Waldine Lane

ODESSA -- Waldine Powell Lane, 87, of Odessa, a retired businesswoman, died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rick Denson, George Whitington, Cecil Robinson and Bob Todd officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Coryell County, and moved to Odessa in 1948 from Abilene. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Son, Charles Byron "Chuck" Lane of Odessa; sister, Virginia Rauschenberg of Gatesville, Molly L. Millard of Waco, Ruby McMath of Corsicana; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Rosie Taylor

ODESSA -- Rosie Marie Taylor, 41, of Odessa, a nurse's aide, died Friday, March 20, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at House of Prayer Baptist Church with the Rev. Curtis Norris officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

She was born in Abilene and was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Sarah D. Lyons and Natasha Patrice Taylor, both of Odessa; mother, Penny Butler of Odessa; brother, George Lyons of Odessa; sister, Helen Hichman of Abilene; and four grandchildren.

Robert Ott

OAKVALE, Miss. -- Robert Earl Ott, 71, of Oakvale, Miss., a retired oil field consultant, died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at his residence.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Society Hill Baptist Church in Oakvale, Miss. with the Rev. Glenn Nelson officiating. Burial will be at Society Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia, Miss.

He was born in Centralia, Ill., and was an Army veteran. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Olivanna C. Ott of Oakvale, Miss.; sons, Dennis Lee Ott of Oakvale, Miss., Robert Kent Ott of Lubbock and Steven Conrad Ott of Portland, Ore.; sister, Catherine Watson of Duquoin, Ill., and Peggy Fuller of San Antonio; brother, James Ott of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

John Turner

UNIVERSAL CITY -- John C. Turner, 59, a teacher, died Thursday, March 19, 1998, in San Antonio.

Services were held March 21, 1998, in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Odessa. Arrangements by Colonial Funeral Home.

He was born in Cisco and was a former resident of Odessa.

Michael Williams

ODESSA -- Michael Wayne Williams, 43, of Odessa, a maintenance technician for Odessa Nice & Clean, died Saturday, March 21, 1998, in Stanton.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew's Baptist Church with the Rev. R.J. Van Dyke officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

He was born in Odessa and was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, LaTonya Renea Routte Williams of Odessa; father, Glen Williams of Odessa; mother, Mildred Totten of Fort Worth; daughter, Michelle Wanette Williams McVade of Austin; brother, N.L. Williams of Dallas; sisters, Glenda Maston of Midland and Patricia Allen of Dallas; and one grandchild.
