Beatrice "Bea" Lasater

ODESSA — Beatrice "Bea" Lasater was born Sept. 14, 1954, in Hearne to Manuel and Julia (Nevarez) Velasquez. She graduated from high school in Calvert then attended Blinn College and Liberty University. On July 5, 1975, she married Frank Lasater in College Station. They moved to Waco for six to eight months before moving to Midland in 1976. They stayed in Midland until 1990 when they moved to Odessa. Frank was the pastor at University Baptist Church while in Odessa. In the summer of 1998, they moved to Fort Worth, their current residence.
Mrs. Lasater was a member of University Heights Baptist Church in Odessa, a former member of Kelview Heights Baptist Church in Midland, and an 18-year member of the Awana Program at Kelview Heights Baptist Church and University Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband Frank of Fort Worth; four daughters, Rebecca Lynn Lasater of Odessa, Amanda Brooke Lasater, Abby Kay Lasater and Stacey Layne Lasater, all of Fort Worth; three brothers, Raymond Velasquez of Houston, John Velasquez of San Antonio and Wiley Velasquez of Calvert; six sisters, Vicki Griffin of Corsicana, Nellie Sparkman of Bryan, Julie Cockcroft of Alta Loma, Calif., Frances Castillo of Bryan, Mary Boggan and Josephine Florida, both of Hearne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Lasater died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, near Weatherford.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, in Kelview Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Frank Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Roger M. Lasater, Aaron Sparkman, Raymond Velasquez Jr., Brian Boggan, Sam Boggan, T.J. Griffin, John Florida IV and Matthew Florida.
The family requests memorials be directed to the Awana Program at Kelview Heights Baptist Church or University Baptist Church.

Joyce B. Anderson

Kermit - Joyce B. Anderson, age 81, of Kermit, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005 in Odessa.
She was born Oct. 05, 1923 in Carlsbad, Lea County, N. M. to the late Carl S. and Effie V. (McCormick) Brininstool. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Joyce graduated from Jal High School in 1941 and went on to attend Hardin Simmons University in Abilene. She married Walter Anderson on June 6, 1942, in Kermit. She and her husband were the owners and operators of the Dairy Queen franchise. Joyce was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi of Kermit and held a position in all offices. She loved art, especially porcelain dolls and went on to become very active in the Porcelain Arts Society of Texas and held the offices of President and Past President. She was also past President of the National Association of Porcelain Artists and was on the Board of Directors of the New Mexico Methodist Conference. She was a member of the Kermit Downtown Lions Club and was a Kermit Chamber Ambassador.
She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Bill Brininstool.
Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband, Walter A. Anderson of Kermit; two sons, Larry Anderson and wife, Dee, and Perry Anderson and wife, Sheila of Odessa; seven grandchildren, Lisa Sanchez and husband, Louis, and Todd Cullison and wife, Audra, both of Odessa, John Allen Anderson and wife, Beverly, of Denton, Brian Anderson of Cheyenne, Wyo., Amy Anderson of Denver, Colo., and Matt Cullison and Tisha Corcoran, both of Dallas; four great-grandchildren, Brandon and Matthew Sanchez, both of Odessa, and Allison and Quinten Cullison, both of Odessa; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005 at First United Methodist Church with Reverends Beth Harrington, assisted by Loren Gardner. Interment will follow at Kermit cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church at 744 Jeffee, Kermit, Texas or to the Children’s Miracle Network at 400 W. 4th St., Odessa, TX, 79761.
Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit.

Doyle Baker

CRANE - Doyle Baker, 76, of Crane, died on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at the Odessa Medical Center Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, in the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Guy White officiating. Burial will follow in the Crane County cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Doyle was born on Oct. 4, 1928, in Brown County, Texas. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the Army. Doyle married Lois Heard on Dec. 2, 1953, in Crane. He was retired owner and operator of the Anchor Pest Control business in Crane.
Doyle was a longtime member of the Permian Basin Motorcycle Association Road Riders, and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Baker of Crane; two sisters, Geneva Zarafonetis of Midland, and Jimmie Lou Snyder of Dallas; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Allie M. McDonald Gibson

Kilgore - Allie Gibson, age 98, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at Songbird Lodge Nursing Center in Brownwood.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Kilgore City cemetery.
Mrs. Gibson was born in Mendanhall, Miss. Aug. 21, 1906. She married Samuel Luther Horne in 1925. They lived in Kilgore, until his death in 1945. While in Kilgore, she was a member of the First Baptist Church. She later married Leon Gibson and they moved to Odessa in 1955. He preceded her is death in 1967. While in Odessa, she attended church at Temple Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, American Business Women’s Association, and the Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary in Odessa.
Survivors include a daughter, Pat Starr of Brownwood; one grandson, five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are entrusted to Davis-Morris Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Rev. Thomas ‘Tom’ Kelley

Midland - The Roman Catholic Diocese of San Angelo, and specifically the Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of San Juan in Midland, lost a most beloved priest after a valiant battle with cancer. The Rev. Thomas “Tom” Kelley went to be in the bosom of the Lord from the Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland Feb. 21, 2005.
Rev. Tom was born in Titusville, Pa. Jan. 8, 1943, as the only son of DeAnna Heher Kelley and Spicer C. Kelley, who had two daughters. He attended the Cathedral Preparatory H.S., St. Mark Seminary H.S, and Gannon University, all in Erie; the St. Bonaventure University and Christ the King Seminary in Olean, N.Y., and the North American College in Rome. He was ordained on Dec. 21, 1967, at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. He received a degree in Theology from the Gregorian University in Rome and a master degree in education from Edinboro University in Edinboro, Pa.
The following are Rev. Tom’s assignments prior to the Bishop of Erie agreeing to send Rev. Tom to the Diocese of San Angelo: from 1968 to 1972, he was a parochial vicar at St. Peter Cathedral in Erie; from 1972 to 1985, he served as faculty member, principal, vice-rector and finally rector of St. Mark Seminary in Erie; from 1985 to 1989, he returned to the North American College in Rome and served as the Academic Dean; from 1989 to 1990, he was the administrator of St. Michael parish in Greenville. Pa. and then served as pastor from 1990 to 1994. The Bishop of Erie then sent Rev. Tom to the San Angelo Diocese for a six-month period on July 5, 1994. He was officially attached, incardinated, to the Diocese of San Angelo Feb. 1, 2001.
His many assignments within the Diocese of San Angelo follow: his first assignment was as Parochial Vicar at St. Agnes and St. Joseph Churches in Fort Stockton; St. James Church in Sanderson; St. Isidore Mission in Coyanosa; and Our Lady of Lourdes Mission in Imperial. On Sept. 6, 1994, he became the Pastor of St. Agnes in Fort Stockton; the St. Isidore Mission in Coyanosa; and Our Lady of Lourdes Mission in Imperial. On Feb. 11, 1995, Rev. Tom received permission from the Bishop in Erie to remain in the San Angelo Diocese for another year beginning Jan. 5, 1995; on Oct. 10, 1995, the Bishop of Erie told Rev. Tom to return to Erie after Dec. 5, 1995; on Nov. 11, 1996, he received permission from the Erie Diocese to return to the San Angelo Diocese for three years effective Jan. 2, 1997; and on that date, he was assigned as Parochial Administrator of Our Lady of San Juan Church in Midland; on Feb. 1, 2001, Rev. Tom was incardinated into the San Angelo Diocese; on Aug. 8, 2003, he was assigned as Pastor of Our Lady of San Juan, where he served until his death, became the Director of Deaconate and guided thirty men of the Diocese, until they were ordained as Deacons of the Church. On Aug. 28, 2003, Bishop Pfeifer assigned Rev. Tom as Dean of the Midland/Odessa Deanery.
Throughout his priestly vocation Rev. Tom was a member of the following Boards and Committees: Continuing Education of Diocesan Priests, Ethics Committee of Greenville Regional Hospital, President of the Association of Eastern Region of College Seminaries, Papal Evaluation Team of American Seminaries, Priestly Formation Committee of the National Bishop’s Conference, the Seminary Board of the National Catholic Education Association, the Diocesan Priests’ Senate and Personnel Board.
Visitation of the body will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., prior to the Mass. Bishop Michael D. Pfeifer, OMI, will be the main celebrant of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. today at Our Lady of San Juan Church. The Rev. Joseph D. Wolf will deliver the homily. Burial will immediately follow the funeral Mass in Resthaven cemetery.
Rev. Tom’s Mother, DeAnna Heher Kelley, died Jan. 11, 2003; and his father, Spicer C. Kelley died March 27, 2003.
He is survived by his two sisters, Susan Dixon and husband, Kenneth, of Dyer, Ind., and Mary Margaret Gupta and her husband, B.D., of Swampscott, Maine. Rev. Tom is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
“Well done good and faithful servant. Enter into the kingdom of God.”

Paul Maxwell

Odessa - Paul Maxwell passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, after a brief illness at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born in Oklahoma City March 5, 1934, to William and Frankie Lou Maxwell, who both preceded him in death; along with his brother Donald Maxwell.
Paul married Jean Marie Crosbie June 6, 1954, in Oklahoma City and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last June.
Paul was a master mechanic and worked for International Harverster in Oklahoma City and El Paso, before becoming the service manager at French Tool and Supply Company in Odessa in 1968. He retired from there 20 years later. Over the years Paul was an avid golfer and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He had a passion for the lake and enjoyed every weekend possible at their second home at Lake Colorado City.
Paul is survived by his wife, of 50 years, Jean Maxwell of Odessa; his sons, Ronal Maxwell and wife, Tammy, of Canyon Lake, Terry Maxwell and wife, Rachel, of Odessa, and Mike Maxwell and wife, Bridget, of Rio Rancho, N.M.; his daughters, Kym Maxwell and Leslie Griffin, both of Odessa; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Our family wishes to thank everyone that has been there for the last couple of years that offered love and support for Paul and Jean.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 at St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Church, 4141 Tanglewood Lane.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be sent to Alzheimer’s Association or the St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Church for the “Bell tower” Carrillon Fund.
Services are entrusted to Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory of Midland.

Victor O. Kelley

Odessa - Victor O. Kelley, 91, passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Frank W. Wilson Chapel with the Rev. John Seward officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Victor Kelley was born Feb. 10, 1914, in Paris, Texas, to Jessie C. Kelley and Eva Nancy Bostick. He served in World War II in the US Army. He married Ida Wagner Aug. 5, 1950, in Bayfield, Colo. He was a member of Bible Missionary.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Kelley of Odessa; daughters, Wilma May of Granbury, and Leona Shrum and husband, Bill, of Odessa; brothers, Dennis Kelley of Englewood, Colo., and Melza Kelley of Longview; sisters, Pauline Bittle, and Marguerite Giles, both of Avondale, Ariz., seven grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services are entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Gerard D. ‘Jerry’ Provenza

Fort Collins, Colo. - Gerard Provenza, 61, died Feb. 9, 2005 in Fort Collins, Colo. He was cremated, and private services have been held.
Jerry was born Nov. 21, 1943, in Dallas to Vincent and Mary Comer Provenza. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam conflict. He grew up in Marshall, and lived formerly in Big Spring. On Jan. 26, 1974, he married Connie Lynn Cox. She died on Aug. 5, 2002. He spent the last ten years in Fort Collins. After working as a pilot and flight instructor, he became a talented, well-known artist who specialized in aviation art, trains, and portraits. He was an avid fan of history and cinema, and enjoyed building model tanks, ships, and submarines.
He is survived by his fiance, Amanda Gebur; daughter, Catherine Provenza of Florida; two grandsons, Cameron and Nicholas Evans; and faithful cat, Maya.
Jerry’s presence has forever touched many lives. His intelligence, kindness, humor and talent will be greatly missed.

Lois Reinhardt

Stanton - Lois Reinhardt, of Midland, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005.
She was born Sept. 25, 1957, to Donald K. Dill and Nadeen F. Winters Dill in Woodward, Okla. and was raised and educated in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was a graduate of Rider High School and Midwestern University. On July 1, 1995, Lois married Monte G. Reinhardt in Odessa, Texas. Her career included working for 15 years for Central Oklahoma Freight, seven years at FA International in Odessa and 1 and a half years for the Midland Reporter Telegram.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Lois is survived by her husband, Monte Reinhardt of Midland; and their daughter, Sarah Reinhardt of Midland; step-daughters, Jennifer Reinhardt of Midland; and family, Jackie Lathram and husband, Kyle, and Jessica Hammond and husband, Lewis, both of Midland; father, Don Dill and his wife, Molly, of Wichita Falls; brother, Don Dill Jr., and wife, Merrolee, of Allen; sister, Samie Peterson and husband, Brad, of Rowlett; step-sisters, Debbie Strobel and husband, Tim, of Forney, and LaDonna Watkins and husband, Dan, of Dallas; three grandchildren; seven nieces; seven nephews; two great-nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Graveside services have been scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Evergreen cemetery. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Kelview Baptist Church of Midland with the Rev. Jim Goodwin officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy. Midland, Texas (432) 683-5555.

Louis Dwight Whisenhunt

Odessa - Louis Dwight Whisenhunt, 61, of Wallace, S.C., passed away Feb. 20, 2005, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 18, 1943, in Galveston to his parents, Louis and Opal Whisenhunt. Louis graduated from Ector High School in 1962. He married Jan Adcox in Odessa. He served in his country’s Army with the hundred and first Airborne. For the past several years, Louis worked as a Quality Control Inspector.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Laquita Dunlap.
Louis is survived by his wife, Jan Whisenhunt of Wallace, S.C.; his sisters, Yvonne Dunlap and husband, Jerry, and Paula Norman and husband, Larry, both of Odessa; brother, Gary Whisenhunt and wife, Sandie, of Odessa; daughters, Becky, Brandi, Shannon and Staci, and son, Steve. Louis also had many nieces; nephews; and grandchildren. He was also survived by his constant companion, Shadow.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Braswell officiating. Inter-ment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are: Scott Whisenhunt, Greg Thompson, Shawn Manahan, Blake Dunlap, Dale Lynn and David Whisenhunt.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Billy Ray Howell, Pete Garner, and James Haney.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Loneta Ruth Wilson

Odessa - Loneta Ruth Wilson, 71, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at the Hospice House in Odessa.
Loneta was born May 3, 1933, to Lonzie and Mildred Atteberry in a farmhouse 12 miles south of Coldwater, Kan. in the same house where her mother was born. Loneta attended a one-room country school through grade school and then graduated from high school in Coldwater, Kan. She married Charles Boughner Wilson in 1952 in Coldwater soon after Charles returned from service in the Army during the Korean War. While living in Indonesia for five years, she assisted in establishing the first English speaking Protestant Church in Pakenbaru, Sumatra. She served as a foster parent for 13 years and lovingly cared for 114 children. She had also been active for years in the “Meals On Wheels” program. She is best known locally for managing the O.K. Cleaners from 1987 to 1998. She enjoyed gardening and loved flowers, especially roses and orchids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Joe Vaughn Atteberry, a son Lonnie Fay Wilson and a daughter Katrina Dee Wilson.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Boughner Wilson; a son, Charles Dean Wilson of Santa Fe, N.M., and Steven Lee Wilson of Navarre, Fla.; a daughter, Suzanne Lea Mayers of Midland; as well as three grandsons; and one granddaughter.
Family visitation for family & friends will be 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at the First Christian Church with the Dr. David Mindel officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorials should be directed to the Hospice House, 903 N. Sam Houston Ave., Odessa, TX, 79761.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
