STANTON - Victor Esparza, 67, of Stanton, a former worker in the agriculture industry, died Friday, July 22, 2005, at the Hospice of Midland Inpatient Unit.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Stanton Memorial Funeral Home and Chapel. Mass will celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Vempala officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph cemetery.
SURVIVORS Wife, Emma Esparza of Stanton; daughters, Adela Cantu and Yolanda Esparza, both of Stanton; sons, Victor Esparza Jr. and Tommy Esparza, both of Stanton, Ross Esparza of Lubbock and Randy Esparza of Grand Prairie; brother, Pete Esparza of Stanton; 21 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Soledad Torres
SEMINOLE - Soledad Torres, 73, of Seminole, a former elementary teacher, died Friday, July 22, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Hugh Thekkel officiating. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at Boyer Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Gaines County cemetery.
She was born in Mexico and had been a 15-year resident of Seminole. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
SURVIVORS Sons, Francisco Torres and Eleazer Torres, both of Mexico, and Martin Torres of Seminole; daughters, Maria de Jesus and Elva Salais, both of Mexico, Luz Olivia and Rosa Espino, both of Seminole, Maria Juarez of Dallas, Nora Gutierrez of Brenham and Cruz Gallegos of Hereford; brother, Jose Luna of Mexico; sister, Emelia Cruz of Mexico; 46 grandchildren; and 50 great-grandchildren.

William Howard Shanks
BIG SPRING - William Howard Shanks, 76, of Big Spring, a retired electrician and cattle rancher, died Friday, July 22, 2005, in a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Ken McMeans officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
He was born in Comanche County. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
SURVIVORS Wife, Charlene Shanks of Big Spring; daughter, Janet Burks of Midland; sons, Gary Shanks of Justin and David Shanks of San Antonio; sister, Jimmye Burks of Big Spring; brothers, Clim Shanks, Charlie Shanks and Wade Shanks, all of Big Spring, Grover Shanks of May and Autov Shanks of Del Rio; and one grandson.

Bernice Kneupper
CRANE - Bernice Kneupper, 80, of Crane, died Friday, July 22, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Services are pending with Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.

John J. Arnet
Odessa - John J. Arnet, 86, of Odessa, a retired 30-year Ford Motor Co. employee, died Sunday, July 17, 2005, at Crane Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Allen Neff officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
He was born in Cincinnati.
Survivors Wife, Dorothy Arnet of Odessa; sons, John J. Arnet Jr. of Hewitt, David G. Arnet of Loveland, Ohio, Stephen R. Arnet of Sacramento, Calif., and Robert P. Arnet of Mason, Ohio; daughters, Mary Arnet of Midland and Donna Gumm of Norwood, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Abdon Fuentes
Balmorhea - Abdon Fuentes, 92, of Balmorhea, a rancher, died Wednesday, July 20, 2005, in Balmorhea.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Santa Rosa Catholic Church. Burial will be at Balmorhea cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home
He was born in Balmorhea. He was Catholic.

John L. Pettit Jr.
ANSON - John L. Pettit Jr., 82, formerly of Monahans, a retired oilfield driller, died Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
Graveside services will be Saturday at Mount Hope cemetery. Arrangements are by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home.
Survivors Wife, Lela Ruth Brock of Anson; son, John Everett of Abilene; stepson, Jimmy Harris of Buffalo Gap; brothers, Cleo Pettit of Sweetwater and Burle Pettit of Lubbock; and sisters, Doris Randolph of Farmington, N.M., and Bobbie Sledge of DeSoto.

Engracia Rivera Ureste
Fort Stockton - Engracia Rivera Ureste, 79, of Marathon, died Thursday, July 21, 2005, at Pecos County Memorial Hospital in Fort Stockton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery.
She was born in Boquillas.

He was born in Comanche County. He was an Army veteran and a member of the First Baptist Church of Gorman.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Eisenhower Church of Christ with Jeff Sweeten officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
He was born in Mirando City. He was a Navy veteran and a member of the Eisenhower Church of Christ.
