Richard Locke Adams

Odessa - Richard Locke Adams, 72, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born May 24, 1933, in Sioux Falls, S.D. to Rollin & Grace Adams. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a civil engineer and retired in 1999. He was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church.
He married Sammie Wisastro June 6, 1974, in Sumatra, Indonesia.
He is survived by his wife, Sammie Adams of Odessa, sisters, Linda Basch of Rancho Cordova, CA., and Eyvonne Grace Stratton of Hobbs, N.M.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2005, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Charles Haggerman officiating.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Betty Jene Harris

ODESSA - Betty Jene Harris, 74, a longtime resident of Odessa passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at Medical Center Hospital. She was born March 18, 1931 in Oklahoma City, OK to Archie and Rosa Hughes. She married Charles Willis Harris July 10, 1967 in Kermit. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her son Benny Mills.
She is survived by her husband Charles Harris of Odessa, sons, Charles W. Harris, Jr. of Houston and James R. Harris of Dallas, daughter, Lois Platt and husband Frank of Ft. Worth, brothers Paul Ray Hughes and wife Mary of Coppell, TX, and Robert Vernon Hughes of Irving, (15) grandchildren and (11) great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2005 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Reshaven Memorial Park in Midland.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Tennie Lee Asbury

ODESSA - Tennie Lee Asbury, 83, of Arlington went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Dec. 10.
Mrs. Asbury was a long time resident of West Odessa, where she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her son Alvie II, wife Brenda, children Alvie III, Amanda and Andrew.
Mrs. Asbury moved to San Antonio to be with her daughter Cleda and grandchildren Sam and Amy. She had great adventures in San Antonio. In the late 90s, she moved to Arlington near her son Steven Asbury, his daughter Samantha and wife Sherry.
She enjoyed her later years spent at the Meadow View assisted living home where she became very close with many of the residents, aids and especially her friend Polly.
Unfortunately, she was preceded in death by her youngest son Adam Asbury. But was blessed to have his wife Cynthia and son Ryan Asbury to carry on his name.
She always enjoyed country music, magnets from around the world, and bingo with her friends.
We will all miss our mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alvie P. Asbury, son Adam Asbury, grandson Sam T. Patton, her parents, two sisters and a brother.
She leaves behind daughter Cleda Patton and husband C.B Barbour from San Antonio, son Alvie P. Asbury II and wife Brenda from Odessa, son Steve Asbury and wife Sherry from Arlington, Sister Mary Lou Rhodes and husband Dusty from Georgetown, Brother Robert Roberts and wife Dorothy of Hobbs, and daughter in law Cynthia Asbury from Abilene.
Also her grandchildren, Amy P. White and husband John III from San Antonio, Alvie P. Asbury III from Hobbs, Amanda Asbury from Odessa, Samantha Asbury from Atlanta, Andrew Asbury from Odessa, Ryan Asbury from Abilene, along with the step-grand-children Clint Barbour from San Antonio, Jason Newcomb and wife Amanda from Arlington, Casey Newcomb from Arlington, Blake LeBaron from Las Vegas, as well as her great-grandchildren, John IV and Remy from San Antonio. numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Arthur W. Hirst
1920-2005

SHENANDOAH, IOWA - Arthur Wilbur Hirst, 85, of Odessa, Texas, died Wednesday, December 14, 2005 in a St. Joseph, Missouri nursing home.
Arthur, a salesman, was born August 18, 1920 in Archer, Nebraska.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Roswell, N.M. and Odessa, Texas; the American Legion; and a lifetime V.F.W. member.
His parents, James and Minnie (Coomes) Hirst; and three sisters, Thelma Hirst, Gladys Callison and Lalah Bright, preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim Bob and Rita Hirst, Houston, Texas; and Richard and Karen Hirst, Odessa, Texas; three daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and James Riddle, Odessa, Texas; Marilyn and Larry Lanier, Baytown, Texas; and Sherilyn and Pete McRae, Katy, Texas; five sisters, Frances Walton, Savannah, Missouri; Maxine Edwards and Lucille Karrle, both of St. Joseph; Ladonna Good, Denver, Colorado; Alice Henshaw, Shenandoah, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Graveside Service and Interment : 11: a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2005, Veterans Memorial Chapel in Rose Hill cemetery, Shenandoah, Iowa, under the direction of Breit-Hawkins & Gladden Funeral Home, Savannah, Missouri.
No visitation or services will be held at the funeral home.

Irma Greve Kluck

EL PASO - Irma Greve Kluck died on December 10, 2005.
She was born in Urbana, Kansas, on October 22, 1914. The daughter of Martin Luther and Alberta Greve. She grew up in Oklahoma and California before attending Washington University in Saint Louis and the Saint Louis Institute of Music, where she studied with Gottfried Galston, a former pupil of Theodor Leschetizky.
In 1934, she was awarded a fellowship to London to participate in master classes under the direction of Tobias Matthay and Dame Myra Hess. She graduated from The Saint Louis Institute of Music in 1940. Married to Louis Kluck, she lived in New Orleans and Shawnee, Oklahoma, before moving to Odessa, Texas, in 1949.
A founding member, in 1949, of the Odessa Music Teachers Association, she was president of that organization in 1953. She was also a member of the Music Teachers National Association for more than fifty years and a nationally certified teacher of piano. A dedicated and accomplished musician and outstanding teacher, she taught piano privately and at Odessa College, and was asked frequently to serve as a judge of piano competitions around the state. In addition, she presented two-piano concerts with Dorothy Billingsley, also of Odessa.
An active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Odessa, she often served as interim organist there. After the death of her beloved husband in 1985, she moved to EI Paso, where she continued to teach until 1999. A member of the EI Paso Music Teachers Association, she was named Teacher of the Year by the Association in 1989.
The EPMTA’s Baroque Competition is named in her honor, as it was she who was instrumental in the organization’s establishing the contest in 1987. In 2001, Willis Music Company published her Happy Fingers Sonatina, a composition for young pianists.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Louis Kluck and Daphne Pemberton of Richmond, Texas, son Frederick Kluck of EI Paso, son and daughter-in-law Victor Kluck and Katja Fullard of Roseville, Minnesota, and grandchildren Lauren and Megan Kluck of Austin, Texas, Matthew and Stephen Kluck of Mankato, Minnesota, and Myriam and Nicholas Fullard of Roseville, Minnesota.
A memorial service will be held at Christ The King Presbyterian Church, EI Paso, on Friday, December 16, at 10 a.m.
Graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 19, at 10 a.m.
In lieu of sending flowers, please make donations to Hospice of EI Paso or Hospice of Odessa.

Pauline Theresa Lewis

ODESSA - Pauline Theresa Lewis, 93 of Odessa passed away Thursday, December 15, 2005 at Hospice House in Odessa.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Frank Wilson Chapel with Rev. Emmett Barnard officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pauline was born July 26, 1911 in Concord, North Carolina to Robert and Margaret Ballard. She married Robert Hinson in 1926 in Concord, North Carolina. They came to Odessa in 1958 from Kannapolis, North Carolina. He preceded her in death in 1978. She married Tom Lewis December 27, 1991 in Lamesa. She worked as an LVN at Medical Center Hospital from March 1961 to August 31, 1974. She was a member of Crescent Park Baptist Church of Odessa.
She is preceded in death by a daughter Jean Smith 2-11-2004 in Lubbock
She is survived by her husband Tom Lewis of Odessa; daughter Suzanne Edwards and husband William Edwards of Odessa; five grandchildren Kim Williams and husband Steve of Odessa, Melissa Schmitz and husband Randy of Rankin, Terry Gates and her husband Dr. Steve Gates of Lubbock, Sherry Guterriez and husband Paris of Allen and Debbie Carr of Abilene; Thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Fayrene Rogers Zink

Midland - Fayrene Zink, formerly of Midland and Odessa, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2005 in San Antonio, Texas.
She was born March 26, 1926 to Elmer Gene Pickens and Eula Minnie Hoffman Pickens in Colorado City, Texas, and was raised and educated there.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, William Owen Rogers and Larry Zink, grandson, Daniel Taunton, sisters, Myrle Henderson and Nelda Gaye McKinney, and son-in-law, Jerry Smith.
Fayrene is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie and Charles Ring of Cedar Park, TX; Linda Smith and Greg Sweeney of Garland, TX; and Kerry Smith of Schertz, TX; sisters, Pat Bassett of El Paso, TX; and Jane Webb of Colorado City, TX; brother, Gene Pickens of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Rocky Stults, and Thomas and Shelby Ring; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 3, 2005 at Fairmont Park Church of Christ in Midland. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy. Midland, Texas 79701 (432) 683-5555.
Pallbearers will be Greg Sweeney, Rocky Stults, Charles Ring, Thomas Ring, Weldon Hardegree and Sid Hardegree. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater West Texas Chapter, Mission Square, 4400 N. Big Spring #C-32, Midland, Texas 79705.

Raymon Lee Boling

ODESSA - For Raymon L. Boling, 88, of Odessa that blissful rest came Wednesday morning, December 28, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be held Saturday, December 31, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church where Raymon has been a member since 1952.
Raymon first came to West Texas in December, 1937, working as a construction worker in Monahans. Returning to Johnson County, Raymon united with his bride, Jennie Bess Lanham. They celebrated over 63 years of marriage until her death September 21, 2001.
The major portion of Raymon’s career was spent in the oilfields of West Texas. After working many years for several drilling companies he partnered in his own Chaparral Drilling Company. Later he started Hard Band Industries from which he retired in 1980.
Raymon was an avid sports enthusiast both as a participator and spectator. As a young man he excelled in football and baseball and as an adult in golf. For years he followed the Permian Panthers and took pride in his grandsons’ participation. Raymon loved to read and could freely converse with most anyone. Even in his final years of failing health he never lost his sense of humor or quick wit. Truly he will be missed by those whose lives he touched.
Raymon was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie; an infant daughter, Linda Sue; his parents, Perry and Lucy Boling; two sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Jerry Poteet of Grand Prairie, Madalyn and James Baker of Menlo Park, CA, Louise and Gary Watson of Odessa; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Karen and Danny Kennemur of Grand Prairie, Randy and Peggy Poteet of Irving, Jenni and Steve Summers of Grand Prairie, Dal and Linda Watson of Midland, Nolan and Connie Watson of Lubbock, Russell Baker of Santa Fe, Lane Baker of Los Angeles, and Zane Watson of Lubbock. Also surviving is a nephew, Vernon Looper of San Antonio, two nieces, Imogene Gibson of Overland Park, KS and Mary Ann Maryol of Fort Worth as well as eleven great-grandchildren.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home where family visitation will be held Friday, December 30 from 6-8 p.m.
The funeral will be conducted on Saturday by the Rev. Curtis Brewer.
The six grandsons will affectionately serve as pallbearers.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
