Fayrene Rogers Zink

Midland - Fayrene Zink, formerly of Midland and Odessa, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2005 in San Antonio, Texas.
She was born March 26, 1926 to Elmer Gene Pickens and Eula Minnie Hoffman Pickens in Colorado City, Texas, and was raised and educated there.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, William Owen Rogers and Larry Zink, grandson, Daniel Taunton, sisters, Myrle Henderson and Nelda Gaye McKinney, and son-in-law, Jerry Smith.
Fayrene is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie and Charles Ring of Cedar Park, TX; Linda Smith and Greg Sweeney of Garland, TX; and Kerry Smith of Schertz, TX; sisters, Pat Bassett of El Paso, TX; and Jane Webb of Colorado City, TX; brother, Gene Pickens of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Rocky Stults, and Thomas and Shelby Ring; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 3, 2005 at Fairmont Park Church of Christ in Midland. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy. Midland, Texas 79701 (432) 683-5555.
Pallbearers will be Greg Sweeney, Rocky Stults, Charles Ring, Thomas Ring, Weldon Hardegree and Sid Hardegree. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater West Texas Chapter, Mission Square, 4400 N. Big Spring #C-32, Midland, Texas 79705.

Slim Emmit J. Cockrell

Corrigan - Services for Slim Emmit J. Cockrell, 77, of Corrigan, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2005, at First Baptist Church in Corrigan, with Dr. Herman Hendrix officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow in the Union Springs cemetery in Corrigan.
Mr. Cockrell was born June 18, 1928, in Corrigan, Texas, the son of the late Luna (Lancaster) and Ervin Cockrell. He passed away Monday, October 31, 2005, in a Houston hospital.
Mr. Cockrell worked in the oil field business for over 60 years. He conducted business throughout the country, where many of his business associates became close friends.
He formerly worked for Halliburton, Dowell, Wilson Fishing Tools and was the CEO of Slimco. He was CEO and President of Cot Oil at the time of his death.
Mr. Cockrell was a member of First Baptist Church in Corrigan and was strong in
his faith. He was a man of God, and was active in his church. He was a member of the J.D. Giddings Masonic Lodge. Mr. Cockrell was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and Shriners, and the Eastern
Star of El Campo. Mr. Cockrell was a giving person throughout the course of his life
and helped many people.
He thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He was an amazing person and will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene Cockrell of Corrigan; sons, Dr. Ralph Cockrell of Odessa and Ervin N. Cockrell of Burnet; daughters, Jeanette Shiplette of El Campo, Linda White of Houston, Karen Kott of Killeen, Becky Bailey of Burnet and Candace Reed of Quinlin; 5 grandsons; 9 granddaughters; 2 great-granddaughters; brothers, Earline Cockrell of Lufkin, Everett Cockrell of Huntsville and Eugene Cockrell of Corrigan; and numerous other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cockrell was preceded in death by his brother, Elmer Cockrell.
Pallbearers will be Greg White, Jason White, Luther Bradley Cockrell, James Shiplette, Mack Koonce, Jr., Jeff Whitley, Chris Callas, Nick Callas, Colby Drabek and Mark Ryan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Luther Cockrell, Janie Cockrell, Billy Mac Cockrell, Jerry Cockrell, Jerry Maxie and John Walter Cobb.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home.

Darcie Leigh Kirby

Odessa - Darcie Leigh Kirby passed away November 2nd, 2005, in an area nursing home.
She was born March 4, 1915, in Harleton, Texas, to John and Elizabeth Crow. She and her family lived in Oklahoma in her youth. She graduated from public school in 1931 at Swink, Oklahoma, and from Fort Towson High School in 1933. She moved to Texas to attend a business school for young ladies where she met and married Robert Witt Reese in 1935. The couple established their home in the Texas Panhandle and had two children; Robert Reese of Odessa, and Evelyn Reese Carnes of Midland. Mr. Reese preceded her in death. In 1967, she married Davis Kirby of Odessa, who preceded her in death in 1974, and three brothers; Malcolm, William and Julius, who also preceded her in death.
Throughout her life she was an avid reader and gardener and a loving mother, devoted to her home and family.
Mrs. Kirby is survived by her son; Robert Reese and his wife Alta, of Odessa, her daughter; Evelyn Carnes and her husband Gene, a sister; Eunice Francis of Fresno, California, and a sister; Mary Phillips, of Bodfish, California.
Graveside services, honoring her life, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4th, 2005, in the gardens at Sunset Memorial.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home.

Clifford White

Midland - Rudolph Clifford White, of Midland, Texas passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2005.
He was born September 10, 1926, to Rudolph White and Fannie Holderman White in Plentywood, Montana.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Clifford is survived by his wife, Verneice White of Midland, TX; daughters, Laurie White of Odessa, TX; and Robin White of Lindsey, CA; son, Randy White of Lindsey, CA; brother, Harold White of Moses Lake, WA; sister, Evelyn Daniels of Canada; numerous stepchildren and grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Thursday, November 3, 2005, between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 7:30. P.M.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Friday, November 4, 2005, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park-North in Midland. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy. Midland, Texas 79701 (432) 683-5555. Pallbearers will be Doug Overstreet, Kenneth Overstreet, Robert Hillger, Buddy Cole, George Bradford and Ken Lollar. Honorary pallbearers are Rickey Overstreet, Don Nichols, Darrell Venable and Ben Vann.
Memorials may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.

Billy Robert Alldredge

Odessa - Absent from the body, present with the Lord.
Our loved one Billy Robert Alldredge, age 63, passed away Friday, October 7, 2005, at home, surrounded by family members.
He was born April 24, 1942, to Joseph Benton Alldredge and Ella Karnes Alldredge in Mineral Wells, TX. He seved in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War. He married Barbara Patrice Carrigan on November 9, 1978, in Odessa, TX. He retired as a self-employed carpenter. He was an avid outdoorsman and lover of all things of nature including fishing, hunting, and arrowhead hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Barbara Patrice Alldredge and three sons; Caleb Paul Waldrep and his wife, Karen, Joshua Robert Alldredge and Justin Allen Alldredge. He is also survived by his two daughters; Mona Rainey and her husband, Jerry and Saronna Maldonado and her husband, Michael; sisters, Mary Cantrell and husband, Steve and Shirley Carrillo and husband, Reyes.
His nine grandchildren were the delight of his life. They included: Kristian Magee, Caleigh Paige Waldrep, and Caleb Paul Waldrep, Jr, Justin Alan Rainey, Laiken Brooke Rainey, Kai, Lan, Isabell and Santana Maldonado.
He is also survived by his extended family: mother-in-law, Frances Carrigan, brothers-in law, Charles Carrigan and wife, Loraine, Mike Carrigan and wife, Sharyn, and Wayne Carrigan and wife, Evie. He shared a special relationship with cousins Charles Karnes and wife, Carol and Wyvonne Piper and husband, Jerry. He also left a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family visitation will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2005, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home in Odessa.
There will be a visitation at 2:30 p.m. before the graveside service on Monday, October 10, 2005, at Regency cemetery.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2005, at Regency cemetery near Brownwood, TX, with Rev. Terry Pugh of the First United Pentecostal Church officiating.
A special thanks to the doctors and nurses of Home Hospice in Odessa and to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Pearl Elizabeth Curry

Odessa - Pearl Elizabeth Curry 74 of Odessa passed away October 07, 2005 at her residence.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday at the Frank Wilson Chapel with Rev. Terry Tamplin officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6 to 7 pm Monday at Frank Wilson Funeral Directors.
Pearl was born May 3, 1931 in Colman, Texas to Floyd and Aseneath (Talbert) Long. She worked as an insurance secretary for over 40 years. She had worked for Murphy& Rochester, Melton Insurance and A& A Insurance. She married George Curry in Odessa on July 19, 1958. He preceded her in death on December 18, 1984. She is also preceded in death by her parents, brother Jack Merle Long and son George Grant Curry. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Odessa, Federal Insurance Women of Texas, Odessa Insurance Women, Marion G. White Study Club, and Texas Federal Women’s Clubs
She is survived by a daughter Phyllis Stephens Koehl of Ft. Myers, FL, one son Glenn A. Curry of Odessa, two step sons Dennis Fitzgerald of Mabank, TX, and Bob Wright of Odessa, eight grandchildren Wendy Glover, Eric Briley, Amy Stillwell, Jennifer Curry, Paula Fitzgerald, Chris Fitzgerald and Bob Wright Jr., and ten great grandchildren.
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Danny Lee Halbrooks

ODESSA - Danny Lee Halbrooks, 60, of Odessa passed away Thursday, October 6, 2005 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born February 15, 1945 in Nashville, Tenn., to George and Bertha Halbrooks. He married Mary Pace November 22, 1991 in Odessa. He was a truck driver and a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife Mary (Bbee) Halbrooks of Odessa, mother, Bertha Halbrooks of Odessa, son, Danny Halbrooks and wife Amy of Brownwood, daughters, Sheila Sedillo and husband Norman, Tonya Ritchey and husband Jimmy and Regina Halbrooks and husband Larry all of Odessa, brothers, J.P. Halbrooks and wife Linda of Monahans and Fagan Halbrooks and wife Janie of Missouri, Ricky Tollison and wife Tonya and sister, Deborah Puente and husband Fred (9) grandchildren and (5) great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2005 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Wayne Benjamin ‘Hank’ Henry

Midland - Wayne Benjamin “Hank” Henry, 85, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 6, 2005.
He was born in Big Timber, Montana on May 17, 1920 to Benjamin Frank Henry and Erna Hearn. Hank attended Linfield College, McMinnville, Oregon. His junior year he received his draft notice during World War II. He joined the U.S. Air Corps January 6, 1941. He was instrumental in the secrecy of training pilots Celestial Navigation, who went to the European Theater. Hank was discharged January 12, 1946. He went to Goodfellow Air Force Base, San Angelo, Texas where he taught new Air Force pilots, engineering, navigation, mechanics and weather.
Hank moved to Midland, Texas in 1957. He started Hank’s Flite Center, Inc. in 1964. Since then, he has become a legend in the flying profession. His love of teaching was instrumental in his choice to train students towards a license. He trained thousands of students, many are your airline pilots today. He accumulated over 21,000 flight hours, most of those training students. He had received many awards from the Federal Aviation Agency, including Flight Instructor of the Year for Southwest Region in 1988. Hank’s true loves were flying, teaching, hunting with his grandsons, playing the piano, dancing, and his family.
Hank is survived by his loving family members, his wife of 61 years, Bee Henry, daughter, Teri Morris and her husband, Tommy, all of Midland, TX; brothers, Gaylord John Henry of Parachute, CO; Franklin Hearn Henry of Santa Rosa, CA; grandchildren, Thomas E. Morris, IV and Paul Henry Morris of Midland, TX.
Memorial services have been scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 13, 2005 at First Presbyterian Church of Midland with Reverend Steve Schorr officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy. Midland, Texas (432) 683-5555.
