Robert James Burns

Midland - Robbie Burns (Preacher Bob), on October 22, 2005 passed into the welcoming hands of his Lord. The family is comforted knowing his faith and unrelenting love and devotion to God will carry him to a better place.
He is sadly missed by his son Shawn McKellar of Odessa, his brother Ian and Maxine Burns of Dafter Michigan, his sister Jane Burns and Gary Day of Luton England, his mother Barbara Burns and Tony Smith, his father Bob Burns, his grandchildren Rebecca Yancy, among many and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, plus the many friends and those he touched.
He is now with his brother Tommy Burns who preceded him in death.
On Thursday, October 27, 2005 at 7:00 Pm we invite you to the Church in the Wind located at 2612 W Front St. in Midland, to a celebration of Biker Bob’s life. Robbie dedicated his life to Christ more than 24 years ago and we were given 24 years of Bob’s special witnessing. Please come share the fellowship that Bob’s love and dedication to ministering inspired.
Memorials may be made to the Church, the Odessa Medical Center or the charity of choice. We give heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the amazing staff of Odessa Medical Center Hospital.

Margaret “Margie” Sicily Waldie

Odessa Beloved wife, mother and friend Margaret (Margie) Sicily Waldie, age 87, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2005 at the Mabee Healthcare Center in Midland. She was born February 14, 1918 in Willard, New Mexico to Louis T. & Norine Coates Jagers. On September 10, 1938 she married Haskell Sherman (Zip) Waldie in Big Lake, TX . He preceded her in death ten years ago this month. She was a member of the Asbury Methodist Church in Odessa, Texas; a fifty-year member of the Eastern Star and an American Red Cross volunteer.
Margaret is survived by her son, Larry Waldie and wife Maureen of Dallas, her daughter, Sherry Wright and husband Larry of Midland, and her sister, Norine Bledsoe of Ft. Worth. She was also blessed with 4 grandchildren: Larry (Tad), Rae, Jason and Liz and 3 great-grandsons, Taylor, Austin and Sam. Preceding her in death were her parents, one sister, Lois Forbes and two brothers, Joseph Coates Jagers and Louis T. Jagers, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Asbury Methodist Church, 4001 E. University Blvd. Odessa, Texas or Home Hospice, 516 N. Texas Avenue Odessa, TX. 79761.
The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to individuals at the Mabee Healthcare Center and Home Hospice for the tender and loving care given to Margie.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 27, 2005 at Asbury United Methodist Church with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, TX.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Marion Jordan

ODESSA - Marion Jordan, 77, of Odessa, died Monday, October 3, 2005, in Marmaduke, Arkansas, at the home of her beloved stepdaughter, Brenda Bennett.
Marion was born June 15, 1928, in Houston, Arkansas, to Otto and Ollie Guffey, the elder of two daughters. Her sister, Mildred Holbrook, was her lifelong best friend. Marion married L. J. “Jay” Crites in 1944. He preceded her in death in 1974. She married Marcus Jordan on August 14, 1979, and that marriage blessed her with the gift of three step-children. Marcus preceded her in death on February 16, 1998. Marion retired from Ector County Independent School District.
Services will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2005, at 2 p.m. at the Sunset Heights Baptist Church in Odessa with Rev. Jess Little officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held on Thursday prior to the services from 11: a.m.- 1:45 p.m. at Sunset Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sister, Mildred Holbrook of Odessa; stepdaughters Brenda Bennett and husband, Gene of Marmaduke, Arkansas, and Charlene Kile and husband, Bill of Picacho, Arizona; stepson Lawrence Lenderman and wife, Linda, of Casa Grande, Arizona; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 4 nephews that she regarded as her sons, Vaughn Holbrook and wife, Janice, of Crosby, Texas; Dan Holbrook and wife, Jeanie, and Shawn Holbrook, all of Odessa; and Charlie Holbrook of Alpine; and many faithful friends, including her loving friend, Norma Jean Morris of Odessa.
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Maria Abila Olivas

Odessa - Maria Abila Olivas, 74, of Phoenix Arizona, died Friday Sept. 30, 2005, at Banner Estrella Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.
She was born January 18, 1931, in Barstow, TX and was a resident of Odessa up until 1972. She then moved to Phoenix, Arizona. She was a Catholic.
Memorial Services will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 11th at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Linda Olivas Torres of Phoenix AZ, Mary Lenor Olivas Matanane of Phoenix AZ; Sons, Maxcimino “Max” Olivas of Phoenix AZ, and Paul Olivas Jr of Moreno Valley CA, Son-In-Law, Robert “Seal” R. Torres; 4 Brothers; 1 Sister; 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Maria has come back home to Odessa one last time. Her ashes will be spread in Portland Oregon where her journey will end.
Maria leaves behind many family and friends but the memories of “Going to Grandma’s” will never fade. The family hopes everyone will celebrate her life, but not mourn her passing.

Hettie Mae Bohannon

Midland - Hettie Mae Bohannon, 96, of Midland, Texas passed away Sunday, October 23, 2005 at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Hettie Mae was born on March 29, 1909 in Bedias, Texas to Nannie Barry and Marshall Williams. She married Amos Bohannon on October 13, 1931 in Lovington, New Mexico. Mrs. Bohannon was a homemaker.
Hettie Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Amos, her parents, one son, Carl Gene Bohannon, her sisters, Bonnie Cates, Katie Harlowe, and her brothers, Leslie Williams and Carl Williams.
Hettie Mae is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Grace Bohannon of Midland, TX; and Richard and Shirley Bohannon of Robert Lee, TX; and one sister, Nita Lang of Magnolia, AR. She also leaves to mourn her passing, ten grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Wednesday, October 26, 2005 between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. Private services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy. Midland, Texas (432) 683-5555.

A. Weldon Brumbelow

Odessa - A. Weldon Brumbelow, born to Emily and John L. Brumbelow on February 23, 1921 near DeLeon in Comanche County, Texas.
He graduated from Eliasville (Young County) High School in 1939 and attended San Angelo College and North Texas State Teachers College prior to WW II.
While in the Navy he attended Pre- Midshipman’s school at Texas Christian University and Midshipman school at Northwestern University. After being commissioned Ensign he was assigned to Naval Engineering school at North Carolina State University. He served as Engineering Officer on USS LST- 881 from the ship guard in Indiana to Tokyo and in 1946 was assigned to Joint Task Force One at Binki Atoll in the atomic bomb test. He was released to inactive duty as Lt .JG. USNR in 1953.
After the war he returned to North Texas State in Denton and received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1947.
It was at North Texas State that he met and married the former Marivonne Jones. She a long with their two daughters Glena Ann Griffin and husband Russel of Dallas and Martha Vonne Lynn of Amarillo survive him along with a grandson John Lynn and two granddaughters Haley Ann Lynn and Holly Jean Lynn and sister Doris Taylor of Amarillo, nephews Weldon Taylor of Houston Marlon Taylor of Dallas, niece Katherine Steinle of Clovis, N.M. also two great nephews Brandon Steinle and John Weldon Taylor three great nieces Emily Steinle and Mary K. Taylor.
Brumbelow was retired in 1983 after 42 years with Phillips Petroleum Co. He served in several jobs during his career with Phillips including Area Plant Inspector, Plant Superintendent at 4 different plants in West Texas and as District Personnel Director in the Permian Basin Area.
It was while Brumbelow was Assistant Personnel Director in 1949 that he was involved in establishing an employee credit union known as Odessa “66” Federal Credit Union.
He served as its first Treasurer and later served as President. This organization has prospered and still operates as Southwest 66 Credit Union.
Brumbelow was a charter member at Normandy Heights Presbyterian Church (now Westminster) where he served as a Deacon. He was a member of St. Paul Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon, Elder and Trustee. He presently is a member at First Presbyterian.
He was a member of Odessa Country Club where he was a second flight winner in 1954 and was Senior’s Cup Low Net champion in 1989.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday at the Frank W. Wilson Chapel. Burial will be 11:00 am Thursday in Victor cemetery North of DeLeon, a community where Brumbelow lived and attended first grade. Memorial can be made to the charity of your choice or First Presbyterian Church in Odessa.

Dr. Patrick H. Cordero

Fort Stockton - The passing of Patrick H. Cordero on October 22, 2005, at the age of 74, has brought a great loss to the family and many friends of this esteemed man, and to the Fort Stockton community of which he was such a vital part.
He was born in Marfa, Texas on January 29, 1931, to Pauline Tercero and Dionicio Cordero, Dr. Cordero was a beloved father who made his family and his Christian faith central to his life. Pat married Olivia Castelo on November 12, 1961 in Fort Stockton. They were blessed with four children, Dr. Michelle Cordero, Patrick Cordero, Jr., Brenda Cordero, and Yvonne “Bonnye” Barron, and the love that filled the Cordero home will warm their memories for years to come.
Pat was a doctor of chiropractic who could never quite give up the practice of helping others. He treated patients for almost half a century beginning with his graduation from Texas Chiropractic College in San Antonio. “Dr. Pat” treated his patients as friends – concerned for both body and soul, frequently praying with them. A gentle man, who loved a good book and a challenging golf course, he was a jovial man who instantly made a deep impression on those he met. He possessed qualities of great inner beauty and strength.
Pat was a man of rare faith and commitment, and though his guidance and devotion are deeply missed by all who knew him, his spirit surely lives on in the hearts and memories of the many people whose lives he touched.
Pat is survived by his children, five grandchildren, and 17 siblings. Pat was affectionately known as “Pop Pop” to his 5 grandchildren, Ryan Patrick DiFebo, David Taylor Barron, Jon & Hailey Perez, and Hannah Cordero.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Olivia Cordero, parents, brother, Manuel Cordero, and sister Aurora Cordero.
The rosary was said at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at St. Agnes Catholic Church with burial in St. Joseph’s cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be sent to the Dr. Patrick H. Cordero Memorial Scholarship fund at Midland College, 3600 N. Garfield, Midland, TX 79705.

Marcial has left us to meet The Lord in Heaven above and his Wife of 50 years who preceded him.
Marcial was born in Fort Stockton, Texas where he met and married Consuelo Quintana then later moved to Odessa, Texas where he worked as a Sprinkler Specialist for Ector County and the City of Odessa until retirement.
He is survived by his children, Jessie Irene and husband Rosalio Flores, Joel and wife Irene Gonzales and 5 grandchildren, 3 of whom he raised as his own: Jesse Dominguez, Veronica Garcia and Sonya Martinez, also survived by grandsons: JJ and Isaac Gonzales and 9 great grandchildren.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be missed by all.
Papa:
You filled our lives with love and happiness, the saddest day was when The Lord called you home. You left many good memories and nothing will ever replace you in our hearts where you will live always.
Thank you Lord for the time you allowed us with Papa!
Visitation will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, from 5pm to 10pm with a rosary being said at 7pm Wed. October 26, 2005 at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 27, 2005 at 2pm at St. Josephs Catholic church with Fr. Joe Uecker officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapels and Crematory.
