Edna Sophia Gallas

MONAHANS - Edna Sophia Gallas, of Monahans, died Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at her residence. She was 102 years old.
She was born July 29, 1903 in Klattenhoff Community, Tom Green County, Texas. Her parents were Edward and Hulda (Samuelson) Heinze. She married Albert G. Gallas, on January 30, 1921, in Miles, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 29, 1952. Edna was a homemaker.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2005, at Harkey Family Funeral Services Chapel.
A graveside will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2005, at Miles cemetery in Miles, Texas. Reverend G.A. McGee will officiate.
Services will be held under the direction of Harkey Family Funeral Services.
Survivors include her sons, Albert Gallas and wife Ruby, of Monahans, and Dan Gallas and wife Betty Jo, of Sunnyvale, and her daughter Milly Gordon of Monahans.
She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Millie Stuckey of Midland, Sam Wooley and wife Helen of Austin, Janie Wooley of Goldthwaite, Dana Jo Sherriff of Georgetown, and Stuart Gallas of Austin, as well as 5 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

James William Kiser

Odessa - James William Kiser, 71, a longtime resident of Odessa passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at his residence. He was born February 9, 1934 in Lariat Hill, Texas to John and Rosemarie McLeod Kiser. He married Darlene Parkis on January 12, 1990 in Kerrville.
James was an extremely hard worker, with a successful compressor business. James was an exceptional person. He never met a stranger. He made an impression with every person’s path that he crossed. He will be greatly missed for his humor. There is no one else like him, the mold was broken after God gave him to us.
James is survived by his wife, Darlene Kiser, daughters, Lynn Hall & husband Lynn of Granite Schoals, & Karen Cooper of Midland, step-daughter, Sydney Handy & husband Rick of Odessa, step-son, Jason Parkis & wife Darlene of Midland, brother, John Kiser of League City, TX. grandchildren, Cody Cooper, Andrea, Riley, Zack, Alexis, Brooke, and Bryce Handy, Trista, and Evan Goodwin, and Sidney Parkis.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2005 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glenn Lynch of Ft. Worth officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

William C. ‘Bill’ Rodgers

Odessa - William C. “Bill” Rodgers died peacefully at Parks Methodist Home September 20, 2005. He was born in Bonham, Texas on July 30, 1913, to John I. and Daisy Cawthorn Rodgers.
Bill married Jean Craig in Midland, Texas on November 6, 1949. He was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed.
Bill’s youth was spent in Bonham, Texas and he remained a “Purple Warrior” all his life. He graduated from Texas A&M University as a Battalion Commander in 1935 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a loyal Aggie.
Bill was called to service in 1939. He served in the 27th Field Artillery Headquarter Command in Algeria, Tunisia, and Italy. He was a decorated officer who was discharged from service at Lt. Colonel.
Bill went to work for Phillips Petroleum Co. in 1936. He was employed by Phillips for 42 years including credited war time service. He retired in 1978 a Division Supervisor.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his brother John Rodgers. He is survived by his wife, Jean, a son Alan and wife Katherine of Austin and daughter, Lynn of Plano.
Memorials may be given to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church or the charity of your choosing.
Services will be September 24 at 2:00 at St. Barnabas Church.
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Robert Lewis Dickman

Odessa - Robert Lewis Dickman, 65, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born February 28, 1940 in Enid, OK.
He was a caring and loving human being serving to all that was in his life. He proudly served his country for thirty years in the U.S. Air Force. He will be missed very very much and we all pray for him. We love you dad.
He is survived by his son, two daughters, (4) sisters, a brother, (9) grandchildren, and (4) great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 26, 2005 at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with Father Frank Chavez officiating.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Anastacia C. Leija Eve
1915-2005

Odessa - In loving memory of our mother, of 90 years, passed away at her residence, Wednesday, the 7th of September, 2005, at 10:02pm in Odessa, Texas.
She was a resident of Texas for 35 years, and resided with her son-in-law David and daughter Virginia Mercer.
Our mother Anastacia and father Daniel Leija Sr. were married for 25 wonderful years. He passed away in 1956, and later, our loving mother remarried Joseph Eve, and he passed away in 1992.
Anastacia was preceded in death by her sons; Leobardo, Adam, Jesse, Felix, Sebastain, and beloved daughter, Phyllis.
Anastacia is survived by her children; Daniel Jr., Benjamin, Theodoro, Manuel, Amalia, Amelia, Ruben, Pete, Adela, Adam, Davi, Virginia, and sons and daughters-in-laws. Her sister Josefina Triston also survives, from Houston, Texas.
Our beautiful grandmother was blessed with 60 grandchildren; 123 great-grandchildren and 31 great-great grandchildren.
No doubt, Anastacia embraced the Jehovah Gods’ promise, endless life, free from sickness, disease, and death.
Revelations 21:4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, nor mourning, nor outcry, nor pain, the former things have passed away. Isaiah 33:4; Luke 23:43; John 11:25; John 5:28-29, will be fulfilled ; Resurrection of Life...
The family would like to give thanks to Hospice.

Betty Marshall

Odessa - Betty Marshall died August 20, 2005 at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, England, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born October 24th, 1928 in Hucknell, Nottinghamshire England. She had been a conductress on the London busses, worked at RAF Brize Norton in food service and in a flight simulator, as a stewardess for B.O.A.C Airline, and retired as a school custodian in 1989.
She is survived by her daughter Kim Bushart and son-in-law Rev. Kevin Bushart of Odessa. She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law Dale and Caroline McKenna of Swindon, England. Her five grandchildren were the delight of her life: Daniel and Baden McKenna and Hayley, Hannah and Heather Bushart. She is predeceased by her parents, a sister and one grandson, Luke Bushart.
In retirement Betty enjoyed her seventeen visits to her daughter and son-in-law in America. She spent nearly two years total time during those visits. She especially enjoyed the fellowship with the various churches Kim and Kevin were serving.
A Funeral service was held in England on August 30, 2005. Her remains were interned at Black Bourton Parish Church, Oxfordshire. Because of Betty’s great love of people and fellowship with her many friends here in the “States”, a “party” in her memory will be held September 24, 2005 from 3-5 pm in the fellowship hall of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 1601 E. 42nd Street, Odessa.
Memorials be made to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Odessa or the American Cancer Society.

Gladys Box

MULESHOE - Gladys Box, 84, of Muleshoe, died Sunday, September 25th at Muleshoe hospital.
Memorial services will be Thursday, 11 a.m. at Muleshoe Church of Christ.
Gladys Viola Box was born March 4, 1921 in Caddo County, Oklahoma to Harley and Anna Clark. She grew up in Muleshoe. Gladys worked in Lubbock as a Nurse’s Aid and at a Lubbock nursing home. She married Zane Box in 1967 and helped Zane with his business in Wolfforth as well as being a homemaker. Gladys enjoyed quilting and sewing. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Muleshoe.
Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Zane, three brothers, three sisters and one grand son.
Survivors include her sons, Belvin Wilson and wife Cheryl of Odessa, TX and Tommy Wilson and wife Vickie of Andrews, TX, brother Jasper Clark of Smyer, sister, Dorothy Young of Lubbock, brother-in-law, Jessie Gray of Muleshoe, six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Jerry L. Roe

Midland - Jerry L. Roe, 53, of Midland, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2005, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel in Midland with, Rev. Don Knight, pastor of Cuthbert Ave. Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens.
Jerry was born on August 8, 1952, in Hico, Texas to Garland and Arrena (Cox) Roe. He married Patty Dyer on March 28, 1981 in Houston.
Jerry served his country in the U.S. Marines.
He owned and operated The House of Carpets in Odessa. Jerry enjoyed fishing, camping, and remodeling his house. He was a devoted husband and father and was actively involved in activities with his family. He was a humanitarian and was a Baptist .
Survivors include his wife, Patty Roe, one son, Brian Massingill, two daughters, Lyddia Roe, and Amber Roe, one sister, Helen Potter, three brothers, Gary Roe, David Roe all of Midland, and Rick Milliken of Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Arrena Roe and a son, Shane Roe.

Christine L. Horn

Camp Wood - Christine L. Horn, 79, of San Angelo and Odessa, died Friday, September 23, 2005, at the LBJ Medical Center in Johnson City. She was born September 17, 1926, in Pamona, California to Haywood T. and Earline Bird. Shortly after her birth, the family moved back to San Angelo. She married Robert (Bob) E. Horn, Jr. of San Angelo on September 11, 1944. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1994.
Christine began her working career as a legal secretary after her two children were in college. She worked for the law firm of Warren Burnett in Odessa for 12 years. She was an Eastern Star, and she and Bob were very active in the First Methodist Church in Midland. Christine was a devoted wife and mother, always placing her family first. In Odessa, she and Bob were active in the Permian Basin Oil Show where he was a director of many years. After retirement, the couple moved to their beautiful home on the Nueces River in the Hill Country where they spent fourteen wonderful years until Bob’s passing in November, 1997. They were very active in the Montell Methodist Church and spent their retirement years enjoying the beautiful Hill Country and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bob Horn. Survivors include her daughter, Judy L. Miller of Marble Falls, and her son, Robert T. Horn of Dallas.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 27, 2005, at the Montell cemetery officiated by Reverend Harry West, formerly of the Montell Methodist Church
Services Directed by Nelson Funeral Home of Camp Wood, Texas.
