Lydia Cothern

LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Lydia Mae Cothern passed away at her residence on Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Las Cruces, N.M., with Monsignor John Anderson officiating. Interment will be at Masonic cemetery.

Mrs. Cothern was born to Tomie and Lizzie Mae Frink on Nov. 3, 1939, in Artesia, N.M. She married James V. Cothern on Jan. 6, 1962, in Las Cruces.

The family lived in Las Cruces until 1963 when they moved to Alamogordo, N.M. In 1969, they moved to Amarillo. The family then made its home in Fort Stockton until moving to Odessa in 1984.

She earned her diploma from Permian High School in 1985. She continued her education at Odessa College and earned a certification as a surgical technologist.

She was employed by Medical Center Hospital for 10 years prior to her illness.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a member of the Legion of Mary.

She was a member of the Association of Surgical Technologist and she also was a volunteer for the Ellen Noel Art Museum. She was a founding member of the Fort Stockton Art Association and she was an avid painter.

She is survived by husband, James V. Cothern of Odessa; daughter, Lucinda Cothern of Midland; sons, Willliam Thomas Cothern and wife, Lora, of Portland, Ore., and J. Vincent Cothern and wife, Morena, of Jersey City, N.J.; sister, Juanita Chavez and husband, Bernie, of Las Cruces, N.M.; brothers, Shelby Frink and wife, Jean, of Tulsa, Okla., and Donald Frink and wife, Margarita, of Odessa; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tomie and Lizzie Frink.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Potts, Richard Leon, Danny Leon, Richie Leon, John Cothern and William Cothern.

Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Beulah Mable Lambert

ODESSA -- Beulah Mable Lambert, 99, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, after a lengthy illness.

She was born Oct. 5, 1899, in Richland Springs and married Lee Doran Lambert in 1919. He died in 1973. She was a teacher’s aide and a church nursery worker who loved children.

"Nana" was loved by everyone who knew her and she loved everyone she knew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Amy Warren; her husband; two infants; and a granddaughter, Joylyn Tillotson.

Survivors include Maridell Henry of Kingsland; granddaughters, Jan Brazell and Tana Gray of Odessa and LeAnn Holloway of Tracey, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Yvette Marcum, Britney Lewis, Cody Truesdell, Shana and Casi Gray, Jada Brazell and Brandon Holloway; and great-great-grandchildren, Cory and Danielle Marcum, and Ashton and Olivia Truesdell.

Services were held at First Christian Church of Richland Springs with Bro. Warren Christian officiating. She was buried in Richland Springs cemetery.

Nana was the glue that held our family together and memories of her will always keep our bond strong.

Rev. L.V. Miles Jr.

ODESSA -- Memorial services for the Rev. L.V. "Tony" Miles Jr., 54, of Odessa will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, at Freedom Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. A.L. Patrick officiating.

Mr. Miles died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, at his residence. He was born April 29, 1944, in Lamesa to the Rev. L.V. Miles Sr. and Beatrice Lee Miles. He married Ruby Cooper Johnson Aug. 10, 1988.

Mr. Miles was a student and minister who enjoyed playing dominoes, hunting and fishing, and coaching football and basketball. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Miles of Odessa; daughters, Katrina Robinson, Brenda Cooper, Janetta Murry, Jennifer Cooper and Ordelia Mays, all of Odessa, Jonatha Cooper of Irving, Jodie Mathis of Dallas and Ida Dary of Fort Worth; sons, Lloyd Robinson and Johnny Robinson, both of Odessa; nephew, James (Boobie) Miles of Midland; brothers, James Miles Sr. of Odessa and Thomas Miles of Pasadena, Calif.; sisters, Beatrice Henry of Arlington and Alice Carter of Alvarado; 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. L.V. Miles Sr. and Beatrice Miles.

Funeral arrangements are by Martinez Funeral Home.

Wayne Roe

ODESSA -- Wayne E. Roe, 76, of Odessa, passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Roe was born June 7, 1922, in Hamilton, Texas to Cecil and Louan Roe.

Wayne married Sylvia "De De" Schulte June 9, 1951, in Mineral Wells, Texas. They came to Odessa in 1955 from Mineral Wells.

Mr. Roe served during World War II in the U.S. Air Force as an ammunition tech, with the rank of sergeant. He worked as a machinist in Odessa for 45 years. He was Baptist.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with the Rev. Kyle Rodgers officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Survivors include his wife, De De Roe of Odessa; daughter, Judy Lynn Smith and husband, John B. of Odessa; brother, Horace Roe and wife, Wilma, of Mineral Wells; sisters, Lola Peters and husband, Ernest of Hamilton and Jinny Parker and husband, Doug of Rowlett and three grandchildren.

Wayne was preceded in death by a son, Gary Wayne Roe, twin brother, Wade Roe and sister, Lois Mitchell.

Memorials may be made to Home Hospice of Odessa.

John E. Clark Jr.

SAN ANTONIO -- John E. Clark Jr., born Dec. 15, 1932, passed away April 21, 1999, in San Antonio at the age of 66. Mr. Clark retired at the rank of lieutenant colonel from the U.S. Air Force Reserve and was a savings and loan executive.

Born in Crane County, Mr. Clark was renowned for his humorous anecdotes ranging from experiences growing up on a West Texas ranch to serving as a pilot in the USAF. He led his business units through the 1980s savings and loan crisis with enthusiasm, dignity and humor.

Mr. Clark was a proud and loving son, husband, father and grandfather and will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John E. (III) and Patricia K. Clark of San Antonio; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy L. and William B. Adams of Littleton, Colo.; four grandchildren, Marisa Adams, Ian Clark, Elliott Clark and Sean Adams; sister, Jane Lea of Midland; brother and sister-in-law, William F. and Norma Jo Clark of Odessa; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Darrell and Dorothy Curry; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 31 years, Wanda L. Clark (nee Curry).

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 1999, at Northwood Presbyterian Church in San Antonio followed by interment at 1 p.m. Monday, April 26, 1999, at Younger cemetery in Corsicana.

Funeral arrangements are by Porter Loring Mortuary North.

Lola Evelyn Johnson

ANDREWS -- Funeral services for Lola Evelyn Johnson, 80, of Andrews will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 1999, at the Andrews Church of Christ with Bob DuPont, pastor, officiating and Dr. Mel Miller of Austin assisting.

Burial will be in the Andrews West cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.

She died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Permian General Hospital in Andrews.

She was born June 7, 1918, in Hamlin. She married Forrest D. Johnson on June 6, 1952, in Rotan. They moved to Andrews in 1978 from Jal, N.M. She was a homemaker and co-owner of Quality Well Repair with her husband and son in Andrews from 1984 to present.

She was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ.

Her son, Jimmie Wilkinson, died on March 30, 1998.

She is survived by her husband, Forrest D. Johnson of Andrews; two daughters, Doris Johnston of Andrews and Brenda and Stan Morris of Andrews; son, Fred Johnson of Andrews; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Bennie Boyles

ODESSA -- Services for Bennie Boyles, 62, of Odessa will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with the Rev. Frank Chavez officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery.

Mr. Boyles died April 12, 1999, at his residence. He was born Nov. 6, 1937, in Odessa. He married Caterina Heredia April 14, 1987, in Big Spring.

He had worked for Mrs. Baird’s Breads for 10 years.

Survivors include his wife, Caterina Heredia Boyles of Odessa; sons, Bennie Boyles of Virginia and Don Boyles of Arlington; daughter, René Johnson and Leora Boyles, both of Midland; stepsons, Johnny Olivares, Jimmy Olivares, Joe Olivares and Jessie Olivares, all of Odessa; stepdaughters, Marylou Leura of El Paso, Lucy Ybarra and Crusita Munoz, both of Big Spring, and Janie Morales of Odessa; brothers, Frank Boyles of Washington, Bobby Boyles, Wave Boyles, Don Boyles and James Boyles, all of Odessa; sisters, Leona Moffitt and Lucille Smith, both of Odessa, and Polly Stevens of River Ranch, Fla.; 39 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys L. Crouse and Wave M. Boyles; and brother, John Boyles.

Funeral arrangements are by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.
