Odessa - Abel C. Gonzalez, 50, a projectionist, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, in Odessa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Acres West Funeral Chapel.
He was born in Odessa.
Survivors Sister, Lolly Meeks of Odessa.

Sara Hernandez
Odessa - Sara “Meter” Hernandez, 78, of Odessa, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at Medical Center Hospital.
Rosary was said Jan. 24 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Francis Frey officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements are by Odessa Funeral Home.
She was born in Saragosa.
Survivors Daughter, Nivia Urteaga and Hilda Salgado; and 5 grand children; and six great-grandchildren.

Richie ‘Ricky’ Holguin
Odessa - Richie “Ricky” Holguin, 47, of Odessa, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at Medical Center Hosptial.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Samuel Ramirez and Rosario Hill officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements are by Odessa Funeral Home.
He was born in Odessa and was Christian.
Survivors Mother, Lupe Holguin of Odessa; brother, Esiquel “Tito” Holguin Jr. of Odessa; and sisters; Betty Olivarez and Diane Holguin, both of Odessa.

Elma M. Wilson
Odessa - Elma M. Wilson, 75, of Greenville, a retired hairdresser, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, at Presbyterian Hospital in Greenville.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Shelton officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements are by Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapels & Crematory.
She was born in Bryan.
Survivors Son, Billy Wilson of Arlington; daughters, Mildred Dixon and Barbara Maynor, both of Greenville, Gwendolyn Arnold of McKinney, Lindsey Wilson of Arlington, Patricia Johnson of Kansas City, Mo., and Wanda Jackson of Houston; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Odessa - Martha Wood Buchanan, 79, of Odessa, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at Hospice House.

Odessa - James “Ward” Farris Sr., 79, of Odessa, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at Medical Center Hospital.

Odessa - Jo Ann Haning, 75, of Odessa, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at Sienna Nursing Home.

Jack Poynor
Hobbs, N.M. - Jack Poynor, 73, of Hobbs, N.M., the owner of an oilfield services company, died Saturday, February 25, 2006, at his residence.
Services are pending with May Funeral Home.

Calistro Llanez Carrillo
Odessa - Calistro Llanez Carrillo, 88, passed away on Monday Feburary 20th, 2006, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
He was born on October 14, 1917 in Terlingua to Anastascio and Josefina Carrillo. Mr. Carrillo worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for over 30 years until he retired. He was married on November 12, 1936 to Manuela Luna and they cherished 63 years of marriage before she passed away in 2000. Mr. Carrillo was a loving father and family man and will be missed by his extensive family.
Mr. Carrillo was preceded in death by his parents, his wife as well as five brothers, Ramon and Sabas of Alpine, Antonio, Estevan and Inez of El Paso. Sister, Felipa Luna from Alpine and one son Luis of Odessa.
Survivors include his brother Jacinto Carrillo of Alpine and sister Jesusita Marquez of El Paso. Sons; Andres Carrillo of Midland, Jimmy Carrillo of El Paso, Rudolfo Carrillo of Canutillo and Calistro Carrillo Jr. of Odessa. Daughters; Gregoria C. Melgoza, Juanita Luera and Nina Carrillo of Odessa, Viola Valades of Round Rock and Maria Sanchez of Devine. Also, 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Rosary was said on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10am. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Uecker officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers for the services are Daniel Ortiz, Mark Garza, Rudolfo Carrillo III, Dan Melgoza, Xavier Melgoza and Victor Melgoza Jr.
Services by Odessa Funeral Home.

Norman Leigh Dopita
Odessa - Norman Leigh Dopita, 77, a longtime resident of Odessa passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at his residence. He was born May 28, 1928 in Plainville, Kansas to Anthony & Mayme Dopita. He served in the Navy from 1946 to 1948. He married Mary LaRayne Botterman January 11, 1946 in Plainville, KS. He was a retired contract welder with Pipeliners Union Local 798. He was a member of the V.F.W. and St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Daniel Bruce Dopita, infant daughter, Margaret Dopita and brother, Robert Dean Dopita.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, LaRayne Dopita of Odessa, daughters, Leigha Rackow & husband Eddie of Odessa, Maria Fulton & husband Sammy of Leander, Stephanie Bodin & husband Robert of Amarillo, brother, Lawrence Dopita of Illinois, sisters, Madeline Condon of Florida, Dorothy Williams of Missouri, (9) grandchildren (5) great-grandchildren, (1) dog and (3) cats.
A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2006 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2006 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

U.M. Tadlock, Jr.
Odessa - U.M. Tadlock, Jr., 81, a longtime resident of Odessa passed away Monday, February 20, 2006 at Parks Methodist Retirement Village. He was born May 16, 1924 in Ft. Worth, Texas to U.M. & Lucy Tadlock. Tad received a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture at Texas A & M University in 1946. He was a member of the R.O.T.C. there. He moved to Odessa in 1950, where he designed and built homes for a number of years. He then dealt in real estate for the remainder of his career. Tad was extremely dedicated to his career, rarely taking a day off.
He was an active member of the Odessa Board of Realtors for 29 years and was also a member of the National and Texas Board of Realtors. He was past President of the Odessa Jaycees and President of Home Builders Association of Texas. Tad was an avid supporter of the John Birch Society and was a very proud Aggie. He was a member of the Texas A & M Alumni Association. Tad was a true American patriot, and served his country in both the Army and Navy.
He married Captola Elaine Maples in 1990 in Odessa. He was affiliated with the Church Of Christ.
Tad is preceded in death by his parents and his son, U. M. Tadlock, III, and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Captola Elaine Tadlock of Odessa, son, George Bridges of New Britain, CT., daughters, Crystal Gallagher & Rhonda King both of Midland, Andrea Fine of Odessa, and Ron Lilley of Odessa whom he loved like a son, of Odessa, brother, Don A. Tadlock of Abilene, sister, Katie Ann Woolsey of Denton, and (8) grandchildren, Tara Tadlock, Stewart Mann, Zackary Glasscock, Jeremy Bridges, Lauren Bridges, Bryce King, Zane King, & Ashley Daniels.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2006, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Daniel Townsend
Monahans - Daniel Townsend went to be with God, Thursday, January 16, 2006. He was a loving son, brother and friend. Daniel was born December 10, 1984 to Sammy and Shirley Townsend at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas. He was a student at Odessa College. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam and Ruby Golden of Monahans, and his uncle, Bill Golden of Alpine. He is survived by his parents, Sam and Shirley of Monahans, his sister and friend, Samantha Townsend of Odessa, another sister, Sandy Dollins of Paris, Texas, two brothers, Tony and Tracy Townsend of San Antonio, Texas, his aunt and uncle, Sammy and Judy Golden of Monahans, other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed by many who loved him. He is in a better place now with no more pain. We love you Daniel.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 25, 2006 at Martinez-Smith & Miller Funeral Chapel in Monahans with Rev. Jeppie Wilson officiating.
Services are under the direction of Martinez-Smith & Miller Funeral Chapel & Crematory of Monahans.

Louise Adams
Midland - Louise Adams, of Midland, an amazing mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2006 in Odessa, Texas.
She was born February 19, 1922 to August F. Drueckhammer and Louise Lippe Drueckhammer in Priddy, Texas. On May 9, 1953, she married Paul W. Adams in San Angelo, Texas. Louise was an active member of Midland Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul W. Adams in 2002, two sisters, Hilda Foreman and Frieda Johnson, and two brothers, Alfred and Arthur Drueckhammer.
Louise is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Scott Goodwin, and her grandson, Zachary Paul Goodwin, all of Odessa, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Isabella Drueckhammer of Rowena, TX; and sister, Leona Glasgow of Spruce Creek, PA.
The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Friday, February 10, 2006 between the hours of 6:30 P.M. and 8:30 P.M.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Saturday, February 11, 2006 at Midland Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy., Midland, Texas 79701 (432) 683-5555.

Jess Wilbur Chisum
Odessa - Jess Wilbur Chisum, 89, of Odessa, passed away on February 6, 2006, at Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring. He was born on June 7, 1916 in Altus, Oklahoma to Jess G. and Bessie Steele Chisum. He married Lois Marie Ketchie on February 8, 1948 in West Los Angeles, California.
After graduating from Altus High School, he moved to Los Angeles where he worked in a paper factory and attended junior college at night. He worked for Douglas Aircraft from 1940 until 1944 helping build bombers and transport planes during World War II. He then joined the Army and proudly served his country as a corporal in the 80th Chemical Motar Battalion in the Philippine Islands. After his discharge from the Army, he returned to Douglas Aircraft where he met his future bride.
He and Lois moved to Odessa in 1948 where he joined his father in the cabinet business. He owned and operated Chisum Cabinet Works until 1965. He then began a career in insurance sales. He achieved his CLU designation and served as president of the Permian Basin Chapter of Certified Life Underwriters in 1983-84. He retired from Mackey and Associates in 1999. He was a long-time member of the Odessa Downtown Lion’s Club. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason.
Jess was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Odessa, where he served on many committees. In 1954, he chaired the committee that designed the sanctuary’s stained glass “Rose Window.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters. Jess is survived by his wife, Lois Chisum of Odessa; three sons, Michael Chisum and his wife Marsha of Claremore, Oklahoma, Doug Chisum and his wife Virginia of Odessa, and Gary Chisum and his wife Cindy of Houston; four grandchildren, Monica Pollard and husband Brian of Lubbock, Clayton Chisum and wife Holly of Fort Worth, Ashley Hulme and husband Micah of Mildenhall Air Force Base, England, and Nicole Chisum of Houston; and one great-grandson, Corban Chisum of Fort Worth.
The family will receive friends at a visitation on Thursday, February 9th, from 6:30 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. at Frank Wilson Funeral Directors. Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10th at First Baptist Church of Odessa. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Robert Kyle Mohler
Odessa - Robert Kyle Mohler, 77, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at his residence. He was born July 30, 1928 to Robert Emmette & Marjorie Virginia Kyle Mohler in Menard, TX. He Married Elsie D. Lange on June 4, 1955 in Brady, TX. He was a member of 6th & Jackson Church of Christ and was a petroleum engineer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Joe Kyle Mohler and two sisters, Marjorie Jo Moseley and Helen Sue Campbell.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Darlene Mohler of Odessa, daughter, Susan Beth Mohler of San Antonio, (2) nephews and (2) nieces.
The family will be receiving friends and family 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2006 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2006 at the Mason Church of Christ in Mason. Interment will be in the Bethel cemetery in Katemcy, TX.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
