Melba Diane Callahan
Houston - Melba Diane Callahan, age 51, passed away after a long fight with cancer on Saturday May 6, 2006. She was born July 21, 1954 to Gail Borden Chesnutt Jr. and his wife Melba of Houston. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 32 years William D. Callahan, daughter Rachel Diane Callahan of Houston, son William David Callahan II and wife Rebecca of Odessa, daughter Sarah Danielle Holden and husband Jonathan of Houston, son James Daniel Callahan of Odessa, son Christopher Alien Callahan and wife Sara of Odessa, daughter Rebekah Gail Callahan of Odessa, mother Melba Anninda Chesnutt, brothers Gail Borden Chesnutt in, Luther Gordon Chesnutt and wife Cindy and Alien Duane Chesnutt, grandchildren Cheyenne Gabrielle Smith Callahan, Alexander Tristan Callahan, Brenna Robin Callahan and Benjamin Asa Holden and many other friends and relatives.

Howard ‘Philip’ Fyke
Odessa - Howard “Philip” Fyke, 88, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born March 9, 1918 in Carthage, Texas to Jerome Henderson & Leila Mae Fyke. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. and was a survivor of Pearl Harbor. He was a pumper for Getty Oil Co. for 31 years. He married Delorise Miller on July 8, 1983 in Odessa.
He was a member of the V.F.W. and A.A.R.P.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Gary Sinclair Fyke.
He is survived by his wife, Delorise Fyke of Odessa, sons, Philip Darrel Fyke of Farmington, NM, Rick Miller of Odessa, daughters, Janet Potter of Rockwall, TX. & Becky Grigry of Monahans, Paula Sanders of McKinney, Valerie Donley of Three Rivers, MI., (19) grandchildren, (36) great-grandchildren and (1) great-great-grandchild.
There will be a visitation 6:00 pm. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2006 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2006 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Byron McWilliams offficiating. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Vivian May Hamilton
Cleburne - Vivian May Hamilton, 90, of Midland, formerly of Cleburne, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2006. She was born June 14, 1915 in Valparaiso, Indiana, to Calvin and Viola Burkholder Basinger. She grew up in a happy, loving home with her parents, sister, and brother. In 1937 she received her Bachelor of Science degree in science from Purdue University. While working as a lab technician in a hospital in Tennessee, she met a young medical student, Con D. Hamilton, Jr. They were married on November 7, 1940 in Bolivar, Tennessee. They moved to Cleburne in 1948 and she resided there until 2002. She spent fifty years being a loving and supportive wife to her husband. Dr. Hamilton died on November 2, 1990, just five days shy of their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Mrs. Hamilton was a devoted mother to her three children. They were blessed with her guidance and will be forever grateful for the unconditional love she showered upon them. She doted on her grandchildren. Homemade cookies were always waiting whenever they visited. All twelve grandchildren will live with wonderful memories of her and the joy she brought into their lives.She was an avid sports fan and always knew the statistics of her favorite teams. She also enjoyed playing bridge, reading, and needlework. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cleburne.
Mrs. Hamilton is survived by her daughter, Pat Heiser and her husband Neil of Spirit Lake, Iowa; her sons, Dudley Hamilton and his wife Dale of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Bill Hamilton and his wife Debbie of Odessa, Texas; sister, Glaydis Basinger of Hillsboro, Oregon; brother, Myron Basinger of Kent, Washington; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren (soon to be 12).
Visitation will be held at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home in Cleburne, Texas, on Sunday, May 14, 2006 from 6-8 p.m.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2006 at Rose Hill cemetery in Cleburne.
If desired, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Cleburne.

Bill Wicks
Odessa - Bill Wicks age 72 of Odessa, passed away May 10, 2006 at Parks Methodist Retirement Home. A memorial service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday May 13, 2006 at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors, in their chapel.
Mr. Wicks was born June 1, 1933 in Ralls, TX. He was an owner of an Advertising Company. He was also a Stand up Bass player in many Jazz bands. His hobbies included, flying airplanes in air shows, and for fun, and he was also a Commercial and Professional Artist. Bill was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War.
He is survived by: one daughter, Kathy Redwine Ott and her husband Jason of Odessa, one sister, Sammie Ann Wicks, 5 grandchildren, Daniel Redwine, Kasy Dye, Timothy Redwine, Serah Redwine Christesson, Mathew Baily; one great-granddaughter, Bethany Marie Christesson.
He was preceded in death by his son, Todd Wright Wicks.
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Isidro Brijalba
Odessa - Isidro “Izzie” Brijalba went home to be with our Lord Tuesday May 2, 2006 at the age of 80.
He was born in Brogado, Texas on February 15, 1926. He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 18, where he served for 4 years, during World War II. After the war he married Aida Guebara on June 19, 1948, and they have been married for 57 years.
Isidro was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and the VFW Post 4372 serving as an Honor Guard, and the AMVETS 007 in Odessa. He was employed for Jones Brothers as a truck driver, he retired from Sand’s Trucking as owner-operator.
He was preceded in death by his three children, Jose Alfredo, Linda and Teresa. Surviving are his wife; Aida Brijalba of Odessa, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A Rosary will be recited on Thursday May 4, 2006 at 7 PM at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Friday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with the Reverend Bernadito Getigan officiating. Burial will be in Saragosa at 2 PM. The VFW Post 4372 members will serve as pallbearers and will present Military Honors in Saragosa. The famly would like to express their Love and Gratitude to all their friends and family for all the support during this difficult time.

Irene (Woullard) Griffith
Kermit - Irene (Woullard) Griffith, age 97, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, May 02, 2006, at Hospice House. She was the daughter of the late Ollie Lee and Sally (Kiser) Woullard.
Irene had a kind and generous heart and never had a bad word to say about any person. She always loved to talk politics with anyone who wanted to take the time. Irene enjoyed education and taught school for many years.
Those left to cherish her love and memories are one brother, Connie Woullard of Odessa; two sisters, Audie Anderson of Kermit and Donnie Morris of Odessa, and numerous nieces and nephews.Irene was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Griffith, one brother, Horace C. Woullard and three sisters, Elsie Pagan, Ada Page and Iris Lea Ray.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Friday, May 05, 2006 at Kermit cemetery with Reverend Loren Gardner officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice House, 903 N Sam Houston, Odessa, 79761.

Donna Lynn Trawick James
Odessa - Donna Lynn Trawick James, 51 of Odessa, passed away May 2, 2006 at the Hospice House. She was born Sept. 24, 1954 in Odessa to parents Douglas W. Trawick and Mattie Joyce Bradley Trawick. Donna was a homemaker. Memorial Services will be held today, May 4, 2006 at 10 am at Odessa Christian Faith Center with Don Caywood officiating. She is survived by her husband and soulmate of 4 1/2 years, David R. James, daughters, Alisa & Megan Hernandez both of Odessa, sister, Lisa Brown of Amarillo. Donna will be deeply missed by her husband, children, relatives and friends. Services are under the direction of Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapels & Crematory.

Audrey Lee (Chambers) Moore
Early - Our precious, loving mother and grandmother, Audrey Lee (Chambers) Moore, left us on Tuesday, May 02, 2006 at the age of 86 years, 19 days, to join her heavenly Father and her loved ones waiting for her. She was born Tuesday, April 13, 1920 in Benjamin, Knox County, Texas to Todd Robinson and Lila Bell (Jackson) Chambers, who preceded her in death.
Audrey married Virgil David Moore on October 10, 1942 in San Saba, Texas, and they shared 38 wonderful years of marriage. She had three children Joel David Moore and wife, Patricia; two Daughters, Jacki Campbell and husband, Bryan and Robbie McGuire and husband Walt.
She was blessed with eight grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. They are David Campbell, Gina Coppedge, Jennifer O’Neil, Renee Roberts, Wendy Broseh, Stormy Evans, Joel Moore and Tiffany Martin. Her blessings continued with twelve great-grandchildren, Genifer Stacker, Gerron McClure, Nikki Maldonado, Brodee Barbee, Codee Coppedge, Jordee Coppedge, Terron Barbee, Justin Evans, Cade Coppedge, Chelby Coppedge, Samantha Moore and Christopher O’Neil. Still more blessings poured forth with her precious great-great-grandchildren. A special great-great-grandson, Mason Stacker, she kept for the first two years of his life. She also has Landon Maldonado, Garrett Stacker and Blayke Maldonado. Her first great-great-granddaughter and her namesake is Audree Nevaeh Barbee, whom she never got to hold. She has another great-great-granddaughter on the way, Jacelyn Jo McClure.
Audrey was also preceded in death by her husband, Virgil, one brother, Bruce Terry Chambers, one sister, Juanita Chambers and her first born granddaughter Glenda Campbell Barbee.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandchildren. Audrey is also survived by her younger sister, Mary Ratliff of Llano, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mother always put her family before everything else. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren dearly. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She loved sewing, reading, walking briskly and enjoying her life with her family until her illness stole these things from her. We love you dearly, and miss you terribly, but we know you are at peace now, free of pain.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, May 5, 2006 at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, Texas with Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.

Reynaldo N. Ramirez
Odessa - Surrounded by his Loving Family Reynaldo N. Ramirez 89 of Odessa passed away Monday May 1, 2006 at Avolon Nursing Facility, only to be received with open arms in his Heavenly Kingdom by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born March 21, 1917 in Presidio, Texas to Amado and Juana Navarez Ramirez. He united in marriage to Carlota Rodriguez May 17, 1947 in Ojinaga Chihuahua Mx. He was a Christian Catholic, a WWII Navy Veteran and retired from the City of Odessa Traffic Department. He is preceded in death by his Parents: Amado and Juana N. Ramirez and Two brothers; Jesus and Marcos Ramirez. He is survived by Wife: Carlota R. Ramirez of Odessa, Son: Jesus R. “Rey” Ramirez and wife Yolanda of Odessa, Five Daughters: Olga Garza, Olivia Duckworth and husband Tom, Josie Dominguez and husband Ruben, Hortencia Del Bosque and husband Randy all from Odessa and Ofelia Pallanez and husband Tony of Greenwood, Tx, Four Brothers: Florentino N. Ramirez of Odessa, Erineo N. Ramirez and Manuel N. Ramirez both of Ojinaga Mx., Cirilo N. Ramirez of Hobbs, N.Mx. Three Sisters: Tomasa R. Lujan and Adela R. Lujan both of Ojinaga Marianna R. Carrasco of Odessa, 18 Grandchildren: Jerry, Joanne, Tamara, Anthony, Melissa, Nina, Joaquin, Mia, Gabriel, Ami, Jerrod, Michelle, Tommy, Rachael, Kristi, Monica, Mandi, and Melanie. 11: Great-Grandchildren. A host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Lots of Friends.
We the Ramirez family would like to take this time to express and extend our utmost sincere gratitude with a heartfelt embrace to each and everyone of you, for your prayers, floral, food offerings and especially your presence with us during this most difficult time. James ‘Dosser’ Tubbs
COLEMAN - Mr. James “Dosser” Tubbs, 63 years of age, passed away May 1, 2006 at his residence in Grape Creek, Texas.
Born August 26, 1942 in Brady, he was the son of Annie Currie Tubbs and the late Mr. Berl Tubbs.
James married Joan Stanley in Brownwood, Texas March 22, 1979 and they had lived in Brownwood and Odessa for several years, and the past year in Grape Creek. He was in the industrial cleaning business and attended Grape Creek Baptist Church.
James is survived by his wife, Joan Tubbs of Grape Creek; his mother, Annie Tubbs of Brady; son, Stanley Cole, Sr. of Miles; two sisters; Rita Mae Cottom of Brady, and Annie Pearl Littlefield of Midland; two brothers Dale Tubbs of Winters and Robert Tubbs of Brady.
Also surviving is granddaughter Christina Cole of Odessa and grandson Stanley Cole, Jr. of Coleman.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Coleman Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be Friday May 5, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home Chapel in Coleman with Brother Brad Winchester, pastor of the Grape Creek Baptist Church officiating.
Internment will follow under the direction of Walker Funeral Home in the Fairview cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Grape Creek Baptist Church.

Alva ‘Al’ P. Boyd
Midland - Alva “Al” P. Boyd 85 died April 28, 2006 in a car accident in Cleburne, Texas.
He was born March 27, 1921 in Blooming Grove, Texas to H.B. and Blanche Boyd, one of six children, and married Imogene Watkins May 27, 1942 in Dallas, Texas.
Al was in the Army Air Corp during WWII, stationed on Guam Island. After the war, Al went to work in the oilfields of west Texas. He, owned and operated a Gulf Service Station on North Big Spring Street, then later owned and operated B & W Specialty Company. He later had a Gospel Songs program on KJBC for 33 years.
“Al” was Marshall at Green Tree and also belonged to the Masonic Lodge #623 of Midland, Texas. Al was also ordained as a Baptist Minister.
Family will be receiving friends on Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Pipkin Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 3:00 pm at First Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Strickland Officiating and assisted by Rev. Bob Hopkins.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park with Masonic Graveside Services.
Alva “Al” was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Imogene Boyd, daughter Alva Jean Turner of Odessa; son Roger Leon “Buddy” Boyd and wife Janis of Midland; daughter Sandra Gail Dickson and husband Allen of Midland; six grandchildren: Sherry Nolan Turner of New Braunfels, Todd Turner of Odessa, Beth Basham of Las Vegas, Nevada, Michael Boyd, Kalli Dickson, Kenzi Dickson all of Midland; eight great-grandchildren: Matt Nolan, Tori Nolan, Zach Nolan, Travis Turner, Trevor Turner, Breanna Boyd, Madison Boyd, Cole Basham, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Active Pallbearers are Joe Gonzalez, Jerry Fields, Sonny Haught, Michael Boyd, Clawson Pipkin and Todd Turner.
Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Richard Klempnauer, Bill Lovell, Gary Rhea, Leroy Stewart and Dr. J.C. Whitaker.

Harold (Hal) Callaway
Odessa - Harold (Hal) Callaway, surrounded by his loving family, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, April 30, 2006 at his residence, after a battle with cancer.
He was born on December 6, 1936, in Shallowater, Texas. He was the 7th child born to Curtis Harold Callaway and Lora Mae Eaves.
Mr. Callaway was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he was a Branch President. He worked for the Monahans Post Office and the Odessa American for many years. He owned and operated Radio Station KLBO, Main Street Cafe, Wagon Wheel Motel, and a laundromat. He also served as Mayor of Thortonville. He never met a stranger, and was an avid sports fan who loved the Monahans Loboes.
There will be a visitation from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, May 4, 2006 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Odessa, with funeral services to follow, at 11 a.m., at the church. Services are under the direction of Harkey Family Funeral Services.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Harold Callaway and Lora Mae Eaves, his wife, Patricia Callaway, and 2 brothers, Delbert Callaway and Bill Callaway. Surviving him are his wife, Ruthaleen Callaway of Odessa, brothers, Kenneth Callaway, of Brownwood, Texas and Tommy J. Callaway, of Grapevine, Texas, and sisters, Lozell Keeter of Lockney, Texas, Betty Sue Roberts of Dumas, Texas and Naomi Hickman of Crosbyton, Texas. Also his sons, David W. Callaway, Sr., of Odessa, and Harold Bruce Callaway, Jr. of Graham, Texas, and daughters, Lynn Woods of Monahans, Debra Lynn Ford of Gatesville, Texas, and Teresa Ann Stanton of Andrews. Also his step-children, Nancy Rangel of Odessa, Bobby Knezek of Odessa, and Darren Knezek of Provo, Utah, as well as 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
We mourn the passing, celebrate the life, and cherish the memories of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
