Thomas (Tommy) Edward Hamby Jr.
1949 to 2006

Odessa - Dad went to be in the hands of the Lord on Tuesday March 7, 2006. He was born in Antlers Oklahoma to Thomas Edward Hamby Sr. and Virginia –Edwardean Farris. Dad loved watching football especially the Dallas Cowboys. His greatest passion was dancing and helping others. Dad was a hero in the Vietnam War as a very proud Marine. He was very involved in community service here in Odessa and in San Angelo. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Dad will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, uncle & friend. He will always have a special place in the hearts of many who loved him. He was preceded in death by his father.
Dad is survived by his loving wife Montie Hamby of Odessa, mother Dean Farris of Odessa, sons Johnny Hamby of Odessa and Jerod L. Todd of Arlington, daughters Pamela Crawford of Odessa, Katherine Hamby of Odessa, Joni Hiler of Arlington, brothers Billy Joel Lamb of Odessa, Lloyd Michael Hamby of Odessa and Bobby Riggs of Odessa, step-sister Mary Ann Miliken of Odessa, step-brothers Roy and Troy Farris of Odessa, grandchildren Deven, Byron and Maddison of Odessa, Leah of Arlington, two nieces Ashley and Skai Lamb of Odessa, nephew Mikey Hamby of Dallas, two great nieces Abigail and Analeis Tapia, great nephew Jesse Tapia all of Odessa, dearest friend and minister E.J. Miller, man’s best friend Simba Mojo Hamby and many many good friends.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Vietnam Memorial Wall by the Confederate Air Force Museum at the airport with E.J. Miller officiating.
We all loved you dearly the best dad in the world.

Sifredo M. Granado

Odessa - Sifredo M. Granado, 77, a long time resident of Odessa passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at Odessa Medical Center. He was born August 16, 1928 to Antonio Granado and Avelina Medina Granado of Fort Davis, Tx.
He married his soul mate Pearl McCormack on Oct. 18, 1956. Their love resulted in the birth of four daughters, Belinda Urias and husband Sammy of Odessa, Terry Munoz and husband Jimmy of Fort Worth, Lorie DeAnda and husband Johnny of Round Rock, Monica Garcia and husband Ramon of Odessa. He has 10 Grandchildren; Crystal Villanueva, Jimmy Munoz Jr., Adrianna Urias, Jon Eric DeAnda, Jacob Munoz, Ashley DeAnda, Samuel Urias, Lauren DeAnda, Beyonce and Elias Garcia. Three Great Grandchildren; Angel and Alex Villanueva and Elijah Lopez.
Pallbearers- Jimmy Munoz Jr., Jacob Munoz, Jon Eric DeAnda, Samuel Urias, Ramon Garcia and Joseph Castillo.
Rosary will be recited on Friday at Odessa Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. Services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2006 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m. with Father Joe Uecker officiating.
Thank you Dad for all the wonderful loving memories you have left us with. We will miss you dearly but you live on in our hearts. Rest in peace Dad. We love you!

Rosa Lou Edwards (Reed)
July 7, 1920 – March 8, 2006

Waco - Rosa Lou Edwards (Reed), 85, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at a local nursing facility. A memorial service will be at 10:00 am Saturday, March 11 at Seventh and James Baptist Church in Waco with Dr. Raymond Bailey officiating. A graveside service will be at 5:00 pm at Snyder cemetery in Snyder, Texas. Visitation will be from 5 to 8:00 pm Friday, March 10 at 10004 Forest View in Woodway.
Mrs. Edwards was born July 7, 1920 in Emory, Texas to Issac and Mary Prather. She moved to Snyder, Texas in 1924 and attended schools there. She married L.B. Edwards in 1938. He was a Baptist minister pastoring churches in west Texas, New Mexico and southern California. She served faithfully as a pastor’s wife in his various pastorates. Mrs. Edwards also worked selling cosmetics at Dunlap’s in Odessa, Texas. Reverend and Mrs. Edwards were members of First Baptist Church in Odessa after he retired. Her husband preceded her in death in 1987.
In 1999, Mrs. Edwards moved to Waco to live at a retirement residence near her son for health reasons. She met C. L. Reed and they were married in March, 2001. Mr. Reed died the following August. Mrs. Edwards was a devoted member of Seventh and James Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands; three brothers, William, A.P. and Raymond Prather; one sister, Bertha Davis and one daughter, Patsy Lynn.
Survivors include one son, Doyce Edwards of Woodway; one daughter, Sherry Stewart of Greenwood, SC; stepson, Rev. Bill Reed and wife, Marlene of Leeds, Alabama and stepdaughter, Gloria Gately and husband, Steven of San Antonio; four grandchildren, Phillip Edwards and fiancée, Kristin Richards, Natalie Young and husband, Steven, Scott Edwards and John Giles. She is also survived by two sisters, Leona Davis of Las Cruces, NM and Callie Floyd of Sweetwater, TX; one brother, Bob Prather of Midland, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Seventh and James Baptist Church or Compassion Ministries of Waco.
The family would like to thank Dr. James Copeland and the staff of Waco Internal Medicine, the staff of Lake Shore Village Health Care Center, Mary Jo Martin and especially the family of Seventh and James Baptist Church.

Argie Lee Williams

Odessa - Argie Lee Williams, 81, a longtime resident of Odessa passed away Monday, March 6, 2006, at Hospice House. She was born July 11, 1924, to the late Creamon Hickman and Willie Mae Moore in Kosse, Texas (Payne Chapel Community). She was raised and educated in Kosse.
On July 28, 1947, she married Raymond Eugene Williams. They moved to Odessa in that same year. She was a homemaker until her departure.
Argie Lee was a member of St. James Baptist Church with Rev. R. T. McNeil, pastor. She was a member of several of the choirs and mission.
She was a devoted wife for 58 years to Raymond; a loving mother to Roy Eugene Williams, Joyce Marie Spivey and Judge Eddy Spivey. Argie is the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two brother-in-laws, Clevan Williams (Dovie) and Wyndel Williams; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews; special sister, Stella Stevenson; and precious neighbors, Fannie Murray and Rose Hammond.
Visitation: Friday, March 10, 2006, from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. at Martinez-Smith Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 11, 2006, at St. James Baptist Church, 300 South Hancock, Odessa with Rev. R. T. McNeil officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery.

Gene Ray

Round Rock - Gene Cameron Ray, 62, of Round Rock and long time resident of Odessa, died Friday, March 3, 2006, at his residence of cancer. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2006, at St. Philip’s United Methodist Church in Round Rock.
He was born in Shamrock, Tx.
Survivors - Mother, Willie Beth Ascue of Odessa, wife, Aline of Round Rock, son Todd Ray of Chelsea, OK, daughter, Angela Leydecker of Round Rock, sisters, Beth Ann Birchfield of Odessa, Patricia Smith of Columbus, GA, Brothers, Ronnie Ray of Austin, Rodney Ray of Georgetown, Ricky Ray of New Braunfels, TX., three grandchildren, Bradley, Deborah and Rylan, one great grandchild, Alyssa.

John W. (Red) Pattillo

Alpine - John W. (Red) Pattillo died Tuesday, March 7, 2006 after having lived a full life in service to God, his family, and his community.
Red was born in Yoakum, Texas on November 15, 1925 to Oscar Harris Pattillo and Lois Allen Pattillo. In 1943 Red left high school early to join the war effort. While in the navy, he sailed on six of the seven seas and served in both the European and Pacific theaters during WWII. He survived two weeks on the open sea after his ship was torpedoed and sunk. Returning from the war, he moved to Alpine on the insistence of his sister Marie Gard and thus began a lifelong love affair with Alpine and the Big Bend. He enrolled at Sul Ross (B.S. Biology 1964). He married Laura Newell in 1948 and they moved to Houston where he worked for Shell Chemical until 1952. The family returned to Alpine in 1953. Red worked as a route salesman for Newell Oil Company for a few years before he ran the Gulf Service Center across from the Holland Hotel for almost 20 years.
In 1975 he married Ronnie Hartnett Sanchez and joined her in running the Casa Blanca Cafe serving Sul Ross Specials, campechanas and triple decker hamburgers to thousands of hungry Sul Ross students, west Texas residents, and tourists on their way to the Big Bend. He never failed to bring roses to the tables of all the pretty ladies.
Red truly believed in the importance of public service and community involvement. He served on the AISD school board during the 1970’s and was Brewster County Democratic Chairman. He was the Brewster County Commissioner for Precinct 2 for 20 years and would have begun a new term this November. He had a special place in his heart for the residents of South Brewster County and the Terlingua schools.
He is survived by his brother James and wife Betty Gerbert of Odessa, sisters Ruby Hyatt of Heathsville, VA and Marylou Uhrich of Hershey, PA.
Red is also survived by his beautiful, loving wife Ronnie Hartnett Pattillo, his children Lt. Col. Michael Pattillo (US Army Ret.) (Maurine) of San Antonio, James Pattillo (Rosni) of Alpine, Marylou Chandler (Leslie) of Poteet, Bonnie Lewis (Tom) of Carmel, IN, Ann Banick (Bill) of Clear Lake, Laura Parsons (Brent) of Leander, Knobby Sanchez (Jackie) of Midland and Pamela Sanchez Abbott (Mickey) of San Angelo. Red has 21 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marie Gard, and brothers Capt. Harris Pattillo (USN Ret.) and Oscar Pattillo.
Red will be greatly missed by all. He never met a stranger and touched the lives of all he met. His love of and commitment to Brewster County was evident to the very end.
Visitation was held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Geeslin Funeral Home in Alpine and a Rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 9 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 10 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with burial following at Holy Angels cemetery. Geeslin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Terlingua Common School District or Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine.

Ruby Lois Campbell

Odessa - Ruby Lois Campbell, 93, a longtime resident of Odessa passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at the Hospice House. She was born October 15, 1912 to John & Etta McCasland in Emblem, TX. She married N.H. Campbell February 2, 1929 in Sulphur Springs. She was a homemaker and a member of Parkview Church Of Christ. She supported her church and other charitable activities. She loved to sew, knit, crochet, and other creative activities. She also loved the outdoors.
She was a loving mother, devoted wife and steadfast friend.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, N.H. Campbell, son, Billy Gerald Campbell, sister, Hattie Mae and brothers, Edgar, John & Kenneth McCasland and great-grandson, Austin Mobley.
She is survived by her daughter, Helen Blackstone of Odessa,, (4) grandchildren, Shelly Holms & husband Dave of Noble, OK., Bruce Campbell of West Palm Beach, FL., Scott Blevins & wife Shelly of Dallas, Leslie Thomas & husband Elgin of Alvin, (10) great-grandchildren and extended family Joe & Gaye Brooks and their children and grandchildren.
There will be a visitation 6:00 p m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2006 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Luis S. Dominguez

Odessa - Surrounded by his Loving Family Luis S. Dominguez 68 of Odessa passed away and was received with Open Arms by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday March 6, 2006 at his residence. He was born June 28, 1937 in Ft. Stockton, Texas to Enrique and Panfila Salazar Dominguez, He was a Christian Catholic and a Journeyman Welder in the Oil Field Industry.
He was preceded in death by Parents, and Brother: Domingo Dominguez. He is survived by
Son: Albert Dominguez of Arlington, Daughters: Cynthia Dominguez, Sandra Medrano and husband Benny of Odessa, Ex-wife: Criselda Dominguez of Odessa, Brothers:Adam Dominguez, Henry Dominguez both of Ft. Stockton, Abel Dominguez of Moreno Valley, Cali, Sisters: Eva Bernard, Felicita Dominguez, Gloria Dominguez all of Odessa, Dear Friend: Lasara Palma, Three Grandchildren: Kyle Dominguez, Joshua and Sierra Medrano and Many Cousins, Nieces,Nephews, and Lots of Friends. Virginia Taylor

ODESSA - Virginia Taylor 66, of Odessa passed away Saturday, March 4, 2006, at Medical Center Hospital.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 10, in the Frank W. Wilson Chapel with Rev. Mike May officiating.
Virginia was born in Laredo, Texas on April 3, 1939 to Thurman and Ethel (Hicks) Taylor. She retired as a dispatcher for the Jal, New Mexico Police Department.
She is preceded in death by her parents Thurman and Ethel Taylor, brothers Joe Taylor and Thurman Taylor Jr.
Virginia is survived by her sisters Peggy Davis and Ann Holley and husband Erven all of Odessa; numerous nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews, and one great-great niece, and one great-great nephew who she loved very much.

Dorothy Mae Evans Wilson

Sheffield - Dorothy Mae Evans Wilson, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 5, 2006, in San Antonio, TX. She was 80 years of age and formerly of Sheffield, TX.
Dorothy was born on December 20, 1925, in Sheffield, TX, the daughter of the late William T. and Bertha Scott Evans. Dorothy delivered the Odessa American newspaper and worked in restaurants as a waitress for many years. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She married Raymond A. Wilson, Sr. on November 21, 1944, in San Antonio. He preceded her in death in January of 1979. She was also preceded in death by her brothers; Gene, Alvin and Calvin Evans, and a sister, Willie Pool.
She leaves to cherish her memory; two sons, Robert McMillin and Khim, of Rush Springs, OK, Raymond Wilson, Jr., of Sheffield, TX, and a daughter, Sue Whitefield-Chandler and Hamp of San Antonio, TX, 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday morning, March 9, 2006, beginning at 9:00 am, at the Sheffield Church of Christ, in Sheffield. Funeral services will follow at the church at 2:00 p.m., and interment will be at Sheffield cemetery.
