ODESSA -- Joann Platt, 64, of Odessa died Wednesday, July 1, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m Saturday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home with the Rev. Preston Weatherly officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Butte, Neb., and moved to Odessa in 1992. She was a Lutheran.
Survivors: Daughter, Shari Egan of Denver; brother, Larry Pinkerman of Bloomfield, N.M.; sister, Arline Skeels of Aztec, N.M.; and one grandchild.

Virginia Gage
SEMINOLE -- Virginia "Ginger" Gage, 64, of Seminole died Wednesday, July 1, 1998, at University Medical Center in Lubbock.
Services are pending with Boyer Funeral Home.

Mary Jordan
ODESSA -- Mary Jordan, 90, of Odessa, died Thursday, July 2, 1998, at Seabury Nursing Home.
Services are pending with Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Anna Bennett

FORT STOCKTON -- Anna Lee Bennett, 72, of Fort Stockton, a homemaker, died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist with the Rev. Jeff Witcher officiating. Burial will be at East Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

She was born in McQueen, Okla., and moved to Fort Stockton in 1962 from Arlington. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Donald J. Bennett of Fort Stockton; sons, Donnie Lee Bennett of Amarillo, Roger W. Bennett of Fort Stockton and Dwight L. Bennett of Kermit; daughter, Sue Boles of Breckenridge; brother, Bill Wise of Clarington; sisters, Louise Wright of Amarillo and Dorothy Daniel Watsonville, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Truptiben Bhakta

FORT STOCKTON -- Truptiben J. Bhakta, 36, of Fort Stockton, a motel owner/manager, died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo.

Services will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

She was born in Kapura, India, and moved to Fort Stockton in 1994 from Van Horn. She was Hindu.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Jayvadan Bhakta of Fort Stockton; daughters, Kajal Bhakta and Smitha Bhakta, both of Fort Stockton; sisters, Mina Bhakta and Sandhya Bhakta, both of India, Jayshree Bhakta of San Antonio; and brothers, Himansu Bhakta of India and Subodh Bhakta of Houston.

Rafael Carrasco

KERMIT -- Rafael B. Carrasco, 72, of Kermit, a retired carpenter, died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, at Winkler County Memorial Hospital.

Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Roberto Alvarado officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be at Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

He was born in Redford and had lived in Kermit for 46 years. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Elma Kittley of Kermit and Delia Martinez of El Paso; sons, Lionel Carrasco and Brandon Carrasco, both of Kermit, Rafael C. Carrasco of Monahans; brother, Albert Carrasco of Kermit; sisters, Carmen Castro and Clementa Marquez, both of Kermit; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Rickey Myers

BUFFALO, Texas -- Rickey Glynn Myers, 41, of Buffalo, Texas, an oilfield worker, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, in Brazil, South America.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Love and Alan Mann officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood cemetery in Waco. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.

He was born in Odessa.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Debbie Myers of Buffalo; sons, Trae Myers, Austin Myers and Dustin Myers, all of Buffalo, Texas; father, William Myers of Paris, Texas; brothers, Ray Myers, Don Myers and Ronnie Myers, all of Odessa; and sister, Connie Chapman of Stephenville.

Doris Sims

KERMIT -- Doris Sims, 79, of Kermit, a retired restaurant owner, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, at her residence.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Seelau officiating. Burial will be at Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Home Inc.

She was born in Atoka, Okla., and was a resident of Kermit for 45 years. She was affiliated with the Heralds of Jericho.

SURVIVORS: None listed.

Edmond Brown

ODESSA -- Edmond D. "Dick" Brown, 77, of Odessa, retired superintendent of commercial construction company, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born in Sherman. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Pat Brown of Odessa; son, Scott Brown of North Carolina; daughters, Ann Brown of Marquez, Jean Brown of Azle, Mary Blavier of Springtown, Carol Brown of Azle and Kellie Paul of Big Spring; brother, Robert Brown of California; sister, Lou Wells of Odessa; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Lois Ratliff

GOLDTHWAITE -- Lois Helen Ratliff, 77, of Brownwood, a retired GTE employee, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at Oak Ridge Manor in Brownwood.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Stacy Wilkins Chapel with the Rev. Lloyd Hagemeier officiating. Burial will be at Oakview cemetery in Mullin. Arrangements by Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home.

She was born in Mullin and moved to Brownwood in 1964 from Mullin. She was a member of the Church of God.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Brenda Wilcox of Brownwood and Barbara Todd of Odessa; son, Ronnie Ratliff of Brownwood; brothers, Pete Reed of Baton Rouge, La., and Charles Reed of Louisiana; sisters, Ollie Lee Holland of San Antonio, Auda Burleson of Grand Prairie and Dena Langford of Lampasas; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Yoena Valenzuela

KERMIT -- Yoena Escarsega Valenzuela, 31, of Hobbs, N.M., a homemaker, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, at Big Bend Regional Hospital in Alpine.

Mass will be celebrated at 5 p.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Roberto Alvarado officiating. Burial will be at Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel Inc.

She was born in Kermit and moved to Hobbs, N.M., three years ago.

She was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Jose Enrique Escarsega Jr. and Nelson Rey Aguilar, both of Hobbs, N.M.; daughters, Maria Esmerelda Salazar and Blanca Aimme Salazar, both of Hobbs, N.M.; brothers, Juan Ramon Valenzuela, Isabel Valenzuela, Ignacio Venezuela and Gerardo Valenzuela, all of Kermit; sisters, Maggie Lujan of Hobbs, N.M., Vahola Vierra and Luly Rodriguez, both of Kermit; parents, Ramon and Manuela Valenzuela of Kermit; and grandparents, Juan and Juanita Valenzuela of Palomas, Mexico.

Sibyle Woodard

PECOS -- Sibyle Evelyn Woodard, 78, of Pecos, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at Reeves County Hospital.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Les Woodard officiating. Burial will be at Fairview cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.

She was born in Goldboro and had lived in Pecos for 61 years. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Son, Lessie Woodard of Pecos; daughters, Merna Joy Woodard of Waco, and Pat Rains of Cleveland, Okla.; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

TEMPLE -- William Homer Bettis, 67, of Burlington, a retired employee of El Paso Natural Gas Company, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 1998, in Burlington.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary DeSalvo officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest cemetery. Arrangements by Harper-Talasek Funeral Home.
He was born in Nacogdoches.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Marioleta C.
