Jimmy Wayne Carter

WAXAHACHIE — In loving memory of our son and brother.

Jimmy Wayne Carter born April 25, 1949, in Mineral Wells. He died Oct. 3, 1999, in Waxahachie.

He is survived by his mother, Jewel Carter; and brother, Owen K. Carter and sister-in-law, Jennifer B. Carter of Maypearl.

Jimmy grew up in Odessa, where he attended school and worked for some of the major oil-related companies in the Permian Basin area. He spoke fluent Spanish and acted as interpreter for non-English speaking people. He never met a stranger.

Jimmy worked five years for University of Texas of Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas Animal Resource Department prior to his illness.

Jimmy’s greatest love besides his mother and brother was his love for the Woodward Ranch at Alpine, where he had worked and spent time at his favorite camp sites and in the beautiful mountains on the ranch and the Big Bend country.

If you wish to remember him make a contribution to the Heart Foundation, the Lung Foundation or to diabetes research.

Williard Ralph "Curley" Wells

ODESSA — Services for Williard Ralph "Curley" Wells, 67, of Odessa, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at graveside.

He will be buried in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.

Mr. Wells died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital.

He was born Sept. 12, 1932, in Durant, Okla.

He married Betty Hardin on March 21, 1961, in Midland.

Mr. Wells moved to Odessa in 1958 from Coalgate, Okla. He was self-employed for many years in the automotive body shop and mechanic business. He was a Baptist. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his spouse, Betty Wells of Odessa; Sons, Johnny Wells of Odessa, Shane Wells of Odessa, Mike Watts of Odessa and Charlie Watts of Odessa; Daughters, Kelly Whitley of Odessa and Mandy Pace of Andrews, TX.; Brother, Morgan Wells of Stonewall, Okla.; Sister, Mary Jo "Lambert" Wells of Coalgate, Okla. and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Stella Wells.

Harvey Aaron O’Neal

ODESSA — Harvey Aaron O’Neal, 91, of Odessa, a heavy equipment operator, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Director with the Rev. Tom Hiser and the Rev. Dr. Mike O’Neal offiicating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

He was born in Novice and moved to Odessa in 1946. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Katherine O’Neal of Odessa; sons, Bob O’Neal of Richardson, J.D. O’Neal of Odessa; daughter, Zona Fryman of Odessa; brothers, Raymond O’Neal of Kansas, Jesse O’Neal of Lubbock, Boyd A. O’Neal of McKinney; sisters, Ruth Reece and Ruby Flanagan, both of Brownwood; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Lillian Murphy

SEMINOLE — Lillian Christine Murphy, 88, of Seminole, a homemaker, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Memorial Health Care Center.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at South Seminole Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Gilliam officiating. Burial will be at Gaines County cemetery. Arrangements by Boyer Funeral Home.

She was born in Snyder and moved to Seminole in 1921. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Son, Erwin Murphy of Andrews; daughter, Patricia Roberson of Seminole; brothers, L.H. Sims of Seagraves and J.P. Sims of Friona; sister, Rosa Ray Welch of Seminole; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Glenn Jeffrey Jr.

ODESSA — Glenn B. Jeffrey Jr., 74, of Odessa, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Deerings Nursing Home.

Services are pending with Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Janie Allison

ODESSA — Janie Lorene Allison, 68, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, in Shreveport, La.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Fletcher officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

She was born in Falls County and moved to Odessa in 1947 form Seminole. She was a member of Grandview Church of God.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Larry G. Allison of Carlsbad, N.M., and Jerry Wayne Allison of Midland; daughter, Patricia Ann Wilson of Shreveport, La.; sisters, Betty Lou Stoope of Waxahachie and Claudetta Ashinhurst of Jacksboro; brother, Charles A. "Jack" Warnecke of Kermit; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.

Bess Bacon

PORTALES, N.M. — Bess Bacon, 87, of Portales, N.M., died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at her residence.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. today at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Revs. Lewis Johnson and Cotton Mitchell officiating. Burial will be at Portales cemetery. Arrangements by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales, Inc.

She was born in Blanket and moved to Portales in 1971. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Son, Scott Davis of Houston; daughters, Nina Merriott of Berthod, Colo., and Katherine Coleman of Capitan, N.M.; stepdaughters, Bonnie Brown of Carlsbad, N.M., Cleo Mitchell of Logan, N.M., and Bobbie Cannady of Albuquerque, N.M.; brothers, Clarence Kirksey of Odessa, Noble Kirksey of Wickenburg, Ariz., Jack Kirksey of Hereford and Edward Kirksey of Clovis, N.M.; sister, Oleta Lane of North Highlands, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Ola Birkla

PECOS — Ola "Pat" Birkla, 72, of Pecos, a homemaker, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at her residence.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Mount Evergreen cemetery with the Rev. Bruce Abbott officiating. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.

She was born in Indiana. She was Pentecostal.

SURVIVORS: Husband, George Birkla of Pecos; son, Matt Brikla of Albany; and four grandchildren.

Marcella Diaz

ODESSA — Marcella Diaz, 61, of Odessa, a hairdresser, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at her residence.

Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Francis Frey officiating. A Spanish Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. An English Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Sunday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Terlingua and moved to Odessa in 1957 from Midland. She was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Jesus Diaz of Odessa; sons, Rudy Diaz and Manuel Diaz, both of Odessa, and Stanley Diaz of Midland; daughter, Nancy Garza of Odessa; mother, Maria Tavarez of Midland; brothers, Raul Granado of Midland and Manuel Granado of Irving; and 11 grandchildren.

Eutimio Gonzales

ANDREWS — Eutimio B. Gonzales, 81, of Odessa, a farm worker, died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at Midland Memorial Hospital and Medical Center.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Rev. Bernard Gully officiating. Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial will be at Andrews North cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.

He was born in El Comedor, Mexico and moved to Andrews from Plano seven years ago. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Maria Gonzales of Andrews; sons, Jose L. Gonzales, Martin Gonzales, Damacio Gonzales and Alfredo Gonzales, all of Andrews, Hector Gonzales of Colorado and Ismael Gonzales of Lubbock; daughters, Jovita Pando of Presido, Maria N. Sanchez of Burlington, Colo., Juana Rangel, Yolanda Perez and Rosa C. Gonzales, all of Andrews, Maria E. Carrasco of Valentine; and Teresa T. Gonzales of El Paso; brothers, Antonio Lopez of Portales, N.M., Damas Gonzales and Nicholas Lopez, both of California, and Santiago Hernandez of Ralls; 39 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
