Thomas "T.D." Scott
ODESSA — Thomas D. "T.D." Scott, 85, of Odessa died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at his residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Raymond Bugg officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
He was born May 31, 1914, in Wilson, Okla. He married
Wanda V. Tedford Sept. 20, 1960, in Odessa.
Mr. Scott moved to Odessa in 1956 from San Angelo. He retired from Loffland Brothers Drilling Co. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda V. Scott of Odessa; daughter, Tommye L. Scott Earhart of Aiken, S.C.; sister, Dovie Scott Wells of Ardmore, Okla.; two grandchildren, Larry J. Earhart Jr. of Houston and Denise A. Snyder of Aiken, S.C.; and three great-grandchildren, Kristin, Sara and Natalie Snyder of Aiken, S.C.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Robert R.L. "Bob" Baker
ODESSA — Robert R.L. "Bob" Baker, 65, of Odessa passed away Friday, April 14, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. He was born May 26, 1934, in Mont Pelier, Idaho.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel.
Mr. Baker moved to Odessa in 1953 from Oregon. He married
Sherry Hughes Aug. 31, 1956, in Odessa. He worked for Stewart and Stephens Services for 22 years, and owned Bob Baker’s Welding Service. He was an avid race fan and loved to build race cars. Mr. Baker was a good cook and made great barbecue.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Baker of Odessa; son, Robert L. Baker of Odessa; daughters, Janice E. Bullock and Jennifer G. Cobos, both of Odessa; sisters, Barbara Lawless of Oregon, Joy Williams and Maudie Gilmore, both of Portland, Ore.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

John R. "Dick" Evans
ODESSA — John R. "Dick" Evans, 72, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2000, at his residence after a brief yet courageous battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2000, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Philip McLarty and the Rev. Sherry Holloman officiating. Private interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Mr. Evans was born May 8, 1927, in Odessa to John W. and Frances Evans. The Evans family was one of the pioneering families of Odessa with Mr. Evans’ father and grandparents having come here in 1912.
Odessa was incorporated as a city in April of 1927, and Mr. Evans was the first person born after this incorporation, therefore making him the "first baby born in the city of Odessa." Mr. Evans graduated from Odessa High School in 1945 and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Evans married
Joyce Marie Dugat in San Antonio July 3, 1953. Mr. Evans started work in 1958 at the old First State Bank, which became Bank of the Southwest when he retired in 1983. Mr. Evans and his wife moved to San Antonio in 1985 but came back to Odessa for good in 1997.
Mr. Evans loved to collect sports cards and was an accomplished amateur photographer. He had a beautiful baritone voice and sang with the Midland-Odessa Symphony and Chorale. He was also active in many musicals at the Permian Playhouse and sang in the First Presbyterian Church Choir for more than 40 years.
Although the illness that gripped him quickly took its toll, he never complained or lost his sense of humor. He always had a smile for visitors right up to the very end.
Mr. Evans is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joyce Evans of Odessa; daughter, Anita Leach and husband, Jim, of Odessa; sons, Jim Evans and wife, Carol, of Odessa and John D. Evans and wife, Denise, of Lubbock; and five grandchildren. He also is survived by two sisters, Martha FranceIl and husband, Earl, of Odessa and Mary Frances Van Pelt and husband, W.P. "Chop," of Sanger.
The family suggest memorials may be made to the Endowment Fund of the First Presbyterian Church of Odessa.

Dorothy Lucille Ince Mitcham
ODESSA — Dorothy Lucille Ince Mitcham, 78, of Odessa was born Dec. 19, 1921, in Oklahoma. She passed away April 12, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her son, Danny Paul Mitcham; her husband, Charlie Mitcham; and by two sisters, Willa Mae Jackson and Florene Humphries.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2000, at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathryn Strempke officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Mrs. Mitcham, a former resident of Brock, married
Charlie Mitcham Nov. 6, 1942. She was a resident of Odessa for 15 years and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She was active in the Wesley Sunday School Class, and she spent a lot of her time in prayer with the Lord.
Survivors include her son, Dickie Mitcham of Odessa; brothers, Charles Ince of Comanche and James Ince of Del Rio; sisters, Imogene Dowden of Kerrville and Lorine Parch of Akron, Ohio; her grandchildren, Michelle Zugg and Laura Hunt, both of Odessa, Adryan Mitcham of Midland and Marcus Mitcham of Phoenix; great-grandchildren, James Zugg III, Nigel Mitcham and Corey Hunt.
Matalene Bizzell Ramsey
BROWNWOOD — Matalene Bizzell Ramsey went to be in the heavenly choir Thursday, April 13, 2000, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 27, 1929, in Muleshoe, the second child of Philip and Jessie GiIlespie. She attended school in Ropes and Pettit and graduated from Levelland High School, all in Hockley County.
In 1948, she married
CareIton Bizzell from Whiteface. They lived in Whiteface, Goldsmith and Odessa.
They had four children: Vicki Carlene, Carl Wayne, Joe Bob and Eddy Lee.
Matalene was very active in Crescent Park Baptist Church in Odessa, taking part in the Women’s Missionary Union, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school and working anywhere she could. She supported her boys in all their sports activities. She was the one in the family who cared for other family members, Matalene was always there.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Vicki in 1951; husband, Carl in 1985; father in 1986; and her mother in 1996.
She moved to Lake Brownwood and joined First Baptist Church in Brownwood and sang in the choir. Mat enjoyed sewing, southern gospel singing, square dancing, watching her children and grandchildren, and feeding them their favorite chocolate cake. She also enjoyed fishing and golf and met Ralph Ramsey while on a fishing trip. They were married
in 1995.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Ramsey of Lake Brownwood; sons and daughters-in-law, Carl Wayne and Debbie Bizzell, Joe Bob Bizzell and Eddy Lee and Jennifer Bizzell, all of Odessa; grandchildren, Kelly, Ashlee, Cody, Michael and wife, Lisa, Clayton, Jim Bob and Carlee Bizzell, all of Odessa; and a great-grandson, Blade Bizzell; brothers, Phil Gillespie and wife, Jean, of El Paso; Don Gillespie and wife, Dolores, of Amarillo; sisters, Wilma Blanks and husband, H.O., of Andrews, Beth Harding and husband, Herb, of China Spring; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins; two aunts and one uncle.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 16, 2000, at First Baptist Church in Brownwood with Dr. Ron Cook officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2000, at Sunset Memorial cemetery in Odessa with the Rev. Barry Owens officiating.
Viewing for Mrs. Ramsey will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Francisco Trejo
ODESSA — Francisco Trejo, 90, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2000, at Deerings Nursing Center.
He was born March 9, 1910, in Sierra Mojada, Mexico.
Mr. Trejo was preceded in death by two brothers, Apollonio Trejo and Jose Trejo.
He is survived by his wife, Gonzala Trejo of Odessa, son, Luis Trejo and his wife, Julia, of Odessa; daughters, Elvira T. Moreno of Odessa, Maria "Chata" Garcia and her husband, Alonzo, of Odessa; stepsons, Jesus Caberera and his wife, Elvira, and Jose Albert Garcia, all of Odessa; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 16, 2000, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2000, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Fidelo Lugo officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.

Manuela L. Carrillo
ODESSA — Manuela L. Carrillo, 81, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2000, at her residence in Odessa.
She was born Nov. 10, 1918, in St. Helena, Texas.
A homemaker who retired after 20 years as a restaurant cook, she was also a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine.
Rosary was recited Friday, April 14, 2000, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Carrillo was preceded in death by her parents, Hilberto and Bonifacia Luna; brothers, Marcos Luna and Jose Luna; sister, Angelina Valenzuela.
She is survived by her husband, Calistro Carrillo Sr. of Odessa; sons, Andres Carrillo of Midland, Luis Carrillo and Calistro Carrillo Jr., both of Odessa, Jimmy Carrillo of EI Paso and Rodolfo Carrillo of Canutillo; daughters, Gregoria C. Melgoza, Juanita Luera and Dina Carrillo, all of Odessa, Viola C. Valadez of Round Rock and Mary Sanchez of Devine; brothers, Demencio Luna of Alpine, Miguel Luna of Odessa, Margarito Luna of Pecos, Mauricio Luna of Fresno, Calif.; sister, Felicita Luna of Odessa; 21 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Adrian Carrillo, Mark Garza, Rodolfo Carrillo II, Xavier Melgoza, Dan Melgoza and Victor Melgoza Jr.
