ODESSA — Elmer Glenn Phillips, 69, of Odessa, an oilfield worker, died Sunday, July 16, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ector County cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officia-ting.

Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

He was born in Sasakawa, Okla.

SURVIVORS: Son, Donald Phillips of Odessa; daughter, Glenda Phillips James of Odessa; sister, Dorothy Stueber of Albuquerque, N.M.; and three grandchildren.

Helen Russell

REDWATER — Helen Christine Russell, 71, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at her residence.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Redwater cemetery.

Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Hooks and moved to Odessa in 1953 from Maud. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Son, Larry Dale Russell of Odessa; daughter, Mary Evelyn Russell of Odessa; and brother, Loyd McGowen of De Kalb.

Viola Wein

MONAHANS — Viola Wein, 94, of Monahans, a homemaker, died Monday, July 17, 2000, at her residence.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrange-ments by Harkey Funeral Home. She was born in Jones County and had been a resident of Monahans since 1935.

SURVIVORS: Sons, George O. Wein of Odessa, Charlie E. Wein of Pecos and David C. Wein of Greenville; daughter, Pal Newman of Monahans; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Kenya Batie

DALLAS — Kenya Kawonda Batie, 26, of Odessa, died Monday, July 17, 2000, at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.

Arrangements pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

Frank Balko

IRAAN — Frank Balko, 76, of Iraan, a retired body-shop owner, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at his residence.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Iraan Christian Church with Dean Whaley officiating. Burial will be at Restland cemetery. Arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Chapel.

He was born in Longworth. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Iraan Christian Church.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Lucille Balko of Iraan; sons, Allie Balko of Wickett, Danny R. Balko of Cisco, Dannie Paglusch of Midland and Ronnie Lewis of Amarillo; daughters, Judy Hallgren of Las Vegas and Debbie Whaley of Dalhart; sisters, Rosa Holder of Imperial and Lucille "Polly" Dennis of Fayetteville, N.C.; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Truman Birdwell

ODESSA — Truman "Harold" Birdwell, 72, of Odessa, a retired employee of General Tire Co., died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Frank W. Wilson Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Johnny Dickerson officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

He was born in Hurlwood and moved to Odessa in 1957 from Roseburg, Ore.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Deloris Birdwell of Odessa; daughters, Ronda Harlene Thomas and Vanda Gail Dickson, both of Odessa; brothers, Willard Birdwell of Ponca City, Okla., Lyndon Birdwell of Oklahoma City and Jerry Birdwell of Fort Worth; sister, Mary Sunderland of Garland; and two grandchildren.

Mary Bosse

STAMFORD — Mary Wallace Bosse, 96, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at her residence.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Saint John’s United Methodist Church with the Rev. DeWayne Wolf officiating. Burial will be at Highland Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Tankersley Funeral Home.

She was born in McLennan County. She was Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Son, Wallace I. Bosse of Odessa; daughter, Peggy B. Strojek of Odessa; brother, Glenn W. Stanford of Lueders; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lily Cox

FAIRFIELD — Lily Lorena Cox, 82, of Colorado City, a homemaker, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Fairfield Christian Center with the Rev. Eston Turner officiating. Burial will be at Lake Chapel. Arrangements by Capps Memorial Chapel.

She was born in Paducah. She was a member of the Assembly of God.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Murlon Clifton Cox of Colorado City; daughters, Mertice Davis of Odessa, Murlene Crizzle of Fort Collins, Colo., and Jessie Daniel of Fairfield; brother, B. M. Lester of Coppell; sisters, Lucille Miller and Jessie Wright, both of Bakersfield, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Harold Dutton

MONAHANS — Harold Dutton, 74, of Monahans, a retired oilfield worker, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at Midland Memorial Hospital and Medical Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Craig Rhoton officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

He was born in Algona, Iowa, and had been a resident of Monahans since 1964. He was a World War II veteran of the Marine Corps. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Emma Lou Dutton of Monahans; sons, Chris Dutton of Monahans, Dick Dutton of Oklahoma City and Jim Dutton of Canyon; daughter, Ann Moser of Monahans; sisters, Helen Gustad of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Katherine Peterson of Algona; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Sara Rios

OZONA — Sara R. Rios, 99, of Ozona, a homemaker, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at a local care center.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Templo Iglesia Bautista Church. Burial will be at Cedar Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Preddy Funeral Home.

She was a lifetime resident of Ozona. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Elvira G. Higginbottom and Armenta M. Sanchez, both of Ozona; stepdaughter, Maria Vitela of Ozona; sisters, Amadita Gomez and Lola Rios, both of Ozona; and brothers, Rosalio Rios of San Jose, Calif., Eliseo Rios of Sterling City and Macedonio Rios of Fort Worth.

Billie Stewart

BRECKENRIDGE — Billie Gilbert Stewart, 69, of Breckenridge, retired owner of Stewart Motors Inc., died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, in Arlington.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Andrew Channer officiating. Burial will be at Breckenridge cemetery. Arrangements by Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.

She was born in Breckenridge. She was Presbyterian.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Billy G. Stewart of Breckenridge; son, Tommy G. Stewart of Fort Worth; daughter, Tana K. Perry of Grand Prairie; brother, Joe M. Gilbert of Denison; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
