Willie Sweatt

SEMINOLE — Willie Cecil Sweatt, 87, of Midland, a retired farmer, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Community Chapel with Don Mitchell and Leo Copeland officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County cemetery South. Arrangements by Boyer Funeral Home.

He was born in Knox County and had been a resident of Seminole before moving to Midland. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Opal Sweatt of Midland; daughters, Doris Taylor of Midland, Cleta Sander of Dallas and Annette Burton of Yorba Linda, Calif.; brother, Robert Sweatt of Burton; sisters, Clara Wilcox of Springfield, Mo., Mildred Leverett of Hobbs, N.M., and Reba Grandrud of Phoenix; three grandchildren; six step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and seven step great-grandchildren.

Jesus Urias

KERMIT — Jesus C. Urias, 81, of Kermit, a retired carpenter, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at Winkler County Memorial Hospital in Kermit.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at 212 S. Mulberry St. with Gonzalo Lujan officiating. Burial will be at the Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.

He was born in Redford and had been a resident of Kermit for 25 years. He was a Marine. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Jesus V. Urias of Kermit; sons, Jose Urias and Jesus Urias Jr., both of Odessa, Mario Urias, Juan Urias and Manuel H. Urias, all of Kermit; daughter, Socorro Pantoja of Presidio, Rosario Lujan of Odessa, Marisol Armendariz and Elizama Juarez, both of Kermit; brothers, Bernabe Urias of Lubbock and Liborio Catano of Odessa; sister, Celia Catano of Marfa; 26 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Gary Abney

ANDREWS — Gary Lynn Abney, 53, of Andrews, a maintenance worker, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at Permian General Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Henson officiating.

Burial will be at Andrews North cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.

He was born in Foreman, Ark., and was a longtime resident of Andrews.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Lupe Abney of Andrews; son, Larry Abney of Atlanta, Ga.; daughters, Gina Bunch of Austin and Lori Abney of Andrews; stepson, Ricky Saldana of Santa Rosa, N.M.; mother, Rosalie Abney of Andrews; brother, James Robert Abney of Andrews; sisters, Dorothy Jean Burton of Baton Rouge, La., Virginia Lee Brim of Snyder; five grandchildren; and three step grandchildren.

Carolyn Averett

SEMINOLE — Carolyn Ann Avarett, 64, of Seminole, a nurse, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gaines County cemetery with the Rev. Lonnie Poe officiating. Arrangements by Boyer Funeral Home.

She was born in Clovis, N.M., and moved to Seminole 15 years ago from Lubbock.She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Joe Avarett of Seminole; son, Ervin Ray Avarett of Carbon Dale, Colo.; daughters, Mona Lee Mapes of Lubbock and Kathy Adam of Seminole; mother, Lorena Faye Newton of Laplace, La.; sisters, Beth Ellen Williams of Laplace, La., and Kitty Faye Lee of Stratford, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mary Beanland

FORT DAVIS — Mary Elizabeth Livingston Beanland, 91, of Marfa died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, in Fort Davis.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Marfa cemetery with the Rev. Dr. John Davenport officiating. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home of Van Horn.

She was born in Marfa. She was Presbyterian.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Mary Anne Moses of San Antonio; son, Kenneth Beanland II of San Antonio; and three grandchildren.

Oleta Grove

IMPERIAL — Oleta Grove, 80, of Odessa died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, in Odessa.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Community Center with the Revs. Raquel Mull and Dean Duckett officiating. Burial will be at Imperial cemetery. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Tishimingo, Okla., and moved to Odessa in 1992 from Imperial.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Barbara Grove and Elaine Ballard, both of Odessa; sister, Mildred Holladay of Madisonville; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Victoriano Juarez

BARSTOW — Victoriano “Crow” Juarez Jr., 42, of Odessa died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Refugio Catholic Church. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Refugio Catholic Church. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

He was born in Pecos. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Victor Juarez and Joseph Juarez, both of Monahans; father, Victoriano Juarez Sr. of Barstow; mother, Ofelia Juarez of Barstow; sisters, Olga Garcia of Pecos, Irene Juarez of Sioux Falls, S.D., Rachael Jaurez of El Paso; brothers, Joe Juarez of Odessa, Benito Juarez of Barstow, Danny Juarez and Israel Juarez, both of Sioux Falls, S.D., Ismael Juarez of Pecos, and Johnny Juarez of Dallas; and one grandchild.

Ralph Loughmiller

KERMIT — Ralph Loughmiller, 95, of Carlsbad, N.M., a retired oilfield pumper, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at Carlsbad Medical Center.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Kermit cemetery with the Rev. Earnest Wall officiating. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.

He was born in Needmore and moved to Carslbad, N.M., in 1998 from Kermit. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Son, Jimmy Loughmiller of Carlsbad, N.M.; sister, Ida Mae Stonum of Soper, Okla.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Jason Morgan

ALPINE — Jason Wesley Morgan, 25, of Alpine, a draftsman, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, in Alpine.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Alpine Church of Christ. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.

He was born Dallas. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

SURVIVORS: Parents, Vic and Mary Jane Morgan of Alpine; brother, Jeremy Morgan of Dallas; grandparents, Cecil Folks of Moore, Okla., and Raymond and Lucille Morgan of Houston.

Elbira Olibas

MONAHANS — Elbira Olibas, 80, of Monahans, a homemaker, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at his residence.

Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Catholic Church with the Rev. John Lucido officiating. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Harkey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery.

She was born in Grandfalls. She was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Pascual Olibas and Juan Olibas, both of Monahans, and Gome Olibas of Pecos; daughters, Gloria Hernandez of Monahans, Anita Valencia of Houston and Mary Elma Cavazos of Crane; Manuel Ortiz of Monahans; sister, Enriqueta Davila of Monahans; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Jessie Parker

ODESSA — Jessie Parker, infant daughter of Sheri Parker, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at her residence.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Don Caywood officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Odessa.

SURVIVORS: Mother; brother, Justin Parker, grandparents, Melvin and Chiquita Parker; and great-grandparents, Melvin and Peggy Parker.

Maybelle Presley

JAL, N.M. — Maybelle Presley, 77, of Jal, N.M., a homemaker, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at her residence.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. G.A. Magee officiating. Burial will be at Jal Cooper cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel Inc.

She was born in Springfield, Mo., and was a 50-year resident of Jal, N.M. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Son, Carl Presley of Jonesport, Maine; sister, Irene Norman of Springdale, Ark.; and three grandchildren.

John Osborn

PECOS — John Osborn, 66, of of Toyah died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at his residence.

Services are pending with Pecos Funeral Home.

ODESSA — Maria Suchil, 64, of Odessa died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.
