June Winslow Bowen ODESSA — June Winslow Bowen, 90, of Odessa passed away Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, in a local hospital. Mrs. Bowen was born June 7, 1910, in Lamar, Mo. She married C. L. “Buck” Bowen on Oct. 17, 1936, in Lyons, Kan. He preceded her in death Nov. 7, 1978. Mrs. Bowen moved to Odessa in 1979 from Canton and was an active member of the HighIand United Methodist Church and The Wesley Class. She was known as an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. She is survived by one son, J. W. Bowen and his wife, Jan, of Odessa; one daughter, Carol Garretson of Irving; one sister-in-law, Minnie Winslow of Junction City, Kan.; three grandchildren, Kevin, Kyle and Kris; and two nephews, Gary and Dale Winslow. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. David Ring officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, in the Haven of Memories cemetery in Canton, Texas, under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Robert C. Cauble MIDLAND — Robert Charles Cauble, 67, of Midland died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at his residence. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 26, at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Don Palmer and Dick Spencer officiating. Interment will follow at 4 p.m. at the Cauble Family cemetery located on the Merritt Ranch in Shackelford County. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home. Robert Charles Cauble was born Jan. 21, 1943, in Gorman to Jay Spivey and Elizabeth (Bizzell) Cauble. On Feb. 24, 1962, he married Jill Hamilton in Moran. Mr. Cauble was employed by Enron Oil & Gas as a drilling superintendent. He attended Cornerstone Christian Fellowship of Midland. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Joshua Cade Cauble; and his brother, Larry Cauble. He is survived by his wife, Jill Cauble of Midland; his two sons, Shawn Cauble and his wife, Shannon, of Grapevine and Jason Cauble of San Antonio; his two brothers, Bill Cauble and his wife, Doris, of Albany and James Cauble and his wife, Earnestine, of Katy; his sister-in-law, Renee Cauble of Albany; his five grandchildren, Tyler Cauble, Reagan Cauble, Clayton Cauble, Kyle Cauble and Katie Cauble; and many nieces and nephews. Jean Walker Clark ODESSA — A memorial service for Jean Walker Clark, 68, of Odessa will be held at 5:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Cheryl Homsher officiating. Jean Clark entered God’s Kingdom Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital after a short illness. Jean was born Jan. 3, 1932, to Lula and William “Bill” Walker in Cisco, Eastland County. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; one brother, William “Sonny” Walker; and one sister, Gladys “Sissie” Cree. Jean is survived by Bob Clark, her husband of 49 years. She is also survived by her three children and six grandchildren, son, Lonnie Clark and his wife, Nancy, of Odessa, and their son, Keith, of Houston; and their chosen daughter, Mila Saarinen of Helsinki, Finland; son, Jerry Clark and his wife, Jeanne, of Farmers Branch and their sons, Matt, Ben and Brad; and daughter, Susan Haynes and her husband. Rocky, of Tucson, Ariz., and their son, Hunter. Jean is survived by her sister, Willie Warren of Houston and her family; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. Jean moved from Big Spring to Odessa as a young girl where she finished high school and married Bobby R. Clark on March 11, 1951, and made Odessa her home. Most of her working life outside the home involved accounting and she retired from Dunlap Insurance in 1997. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Jean loved the Lord her God with all her heart, all her soul and all her strength. Her priority was being a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother who served her Savior at home, through her family, in her church and in her community. She taught numerous children and adult Sunday school and Bible study classes throughout her life. Most recently she was a member of the Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary, a Meals on Wheels Volunteer, a KOCV-FM pledge drive participant, and served at Milam Elementary in the Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) program. It is requested that memorials be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Lois Patterson Cross TROUP — Lois Patterson Cross, 67, of Odessa was born in Salem Community, Smith County, Texas, to Carroll and Julia Patterson. She was raised in Smith and Hale Counties in Texas. She died on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000 at Medical Center Hospital. On May 12, 1943, she married Robert Cross in Troup. They were married for 57 years. Their son, Don, was born Dec. 5, 1945, in Troup. They moved to the Permian Basin in 1955. She was a Baptist by faith. Lois was an accomplished artist and her hobbies were painting, golf and crafts. Mrs. Cross is survived by her husband, R.E. “Bob” Cross of Odessa; one son, Donald E. Cross and his wife, Elizabeth, of Lafayette, La.; two granddaughters, Ashley Blanc and husband, Ken, of Lafayette, La., and Melissa Cross of Lafayette, La.; one brother, George Patterson and wife, Carole, of Dallas; three sisters, Allene Williams of Plainview, Eulalia Lacy and husband, Bryan, of Pasadena, Marian Powell of Lubbock. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lou Ella Mahurin and Leotis McDaniel; and four brothers, James, Robert, Henry and Ryan Patterson. The family will receive friends from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at the Bradford cemetery in Troup with the Rev. James Cheatham of the First Baptist Church of Troup officiating. Arrangements are by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association. Pilar Rodriguez Franco PECOS — Mass for Pilar Rodriguez Franco, 62, of Odessa will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with the Rev. Manuel Munoz officiating. Burial will be in Mount Evergreen cemetery in Pecos. Pallbearers will be her sons and sons-in-law. Mrs. Franco died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at her residence. She was born Nov. 12, 1938, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. She was Catholic. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Eduvijes Rodriguez; and a brother, Toribio Rodriguez. Survivors include her husband, D. Armando Franco of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico; sons, Armando Franco, Rigoberto Franco and his wife, Luz Maria, Alfredo Franco and his wife, Tayde, and Jose Nicolas Franco, all of Odessa; daughters, Librada Salas and her husband, Jose, Veronica Gayosso and her husband, Eloy, Anabel Prieto and her husband, Abiud, and Yanira Nieto and her husband, Arturo, all of Odessa; brothers, Francisco Rodriguez and Jose Luis Rodriguez, both of Pecos; sister, Rita Montano of Pecos; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Charlotte Jean Stedman ODESSA — Charlotte Stedman was born Nov. 4, 1952, in Odessa. She obtained her nursing degree from Angelo State University in 1975 and worked as a registered nurse from that time until her death November 15, 2000. For 18 years, Charlotte worked as operating room supervisor at Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Odessa, now Odessa Regional Hospital. At the time of her death, she was employed as a school nurse at Hood Junior High and a consulting RN for Mariah Flats. Charlotte was beloved for a lifetime of devotion to helping her students, patients and friends. Charlotte was a member of several organizations, including the Junior League of Odessa. She is survived by her husband, Brent Stedman and her son, Zachary Stedman, both of Odessa; her parents, Don and Mary Jo Martin of Odessa; her brothers, Rickey Martin of Midland and David Martin of Austin; and her sister, Donna Pufal of San Antonio. Graveside services were held Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Velma Ruby Greenfield ODESSA — Velma Ruby Greenfield, 87, beloved mother and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Velma Ruby Yarbourgh April 1, 1913, in Williamson County near Austin. She was married to Leonard Greenfield on Oct. 7, 1932, in Austin where they both worked for the State Hospital. Leonard preceded her in death Aug. 30, 1976. Ruby had been a resident of Odessa since 1962 when she and her husband moved from Goldsmith. She was a faithful Christian. Central Baptist Church in Odessa was her church home, where she was an active and involved member for many years until ill health forced her to remain home. She was a lifetime member of the Goldsmith Chapter #854 Order of Eastern Star. She held many offices and served as Worthy Matron from 1960 to 1961 and served as Deputy Grand Matron in 1963. She had many interests and hobbies – sewing, cooking, quilting, socializing with friends, flower arranging, and gardening, to name only a few. She loved to watch the birds from her windows. She enjoyed her painting for many years and loved to give painted gifts to family and friends. Ruby and Leonard traveled extensively with their children on family vacations. In later years, they would drive and camp for months at a time visiting various states. A trip to the Holy Lands with her church group in 1979 and a cruise to the Caribbean with her younger sister in the early 1980s were the highlights of her many travels. Her kindness, thoughtfulness and generous spirit will be what friends and family remember most. She was much loved and will be missed by her surviving family: a son, Troy Greenfield and his wife, Peggy, a daughter, Janice Christesson, grandchildren, Juana Christesson, Mike and Mollie Christesson, Jon and Honey Christesson, Tina Hudnall and Dina and Jack Bain. There are 12 great-grandchildren, Michael and Tonya, Cathy, J.J., Jesse, and Peter Christesson, Shalina and Isaac Christesson, Casey Robinson, Heath, Bradley and Nicole Bain, all of Odessa. Sisters, Dorlas Myers of Austin and Blanche Dickerson of Pasedena, Texas and brothers, Buddy Tobin of Leander and Sonny Tobin of Austin. Public visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Johnson of Central Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Joshua Paul Parkinson ODESSA — Joshua Paul “Josh” Parkinson was born Oct. 7, 1980, in Odessa and died Nov. 23, 2000. He was the beloved son of Kathleen Mooney Foster and Jack David Parkinson. Josh was a 1999 graduate of Permian High School. All his life he loved sports and during his school years he played football, baseball and basketball. He was in the gifted and talented classes throughout junior and senior high school. Josh attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Josh will always be remembered for his wonderful smile and his loving heart. He was dearly loved by his family and many friends. Josh had a very special gift working with children. They were very drawn to him as he devoted many summers lifeguarding and teaching them to swim. Josh loved to spend time with his many friends, and he truly knew how to be a friend. He is survived by his mother, Kathy Foster and stepfather, Dr. Niles Foster of Gardendale; father, Jack Parkinson of Leander; brother, Matt Parkinson and sister, Elizabeth Bailey, all of Gardendale; maternal grandparents, Frank and Mary “Mimi” Mooney of Odessa; paternal grandmother, Ann Baucum of Mesa, Ariz.; paternal great-grandmother, Mae Baucum of Lubbock; aunts and uncles, Frank and Sandy Mooney of Friendswood, Bobby and Karen (Mooney) Nimon of Houston, Jim and Monica Mooney of Odessa, Joan Firth of Scottsdale, Ariz., Jean Parkinson of Florence, Ariz., and Janan Parkinson of Glendale, Ariz.; and cousins, Miriam Mooney, Taryn Mooney, Ashley Ellis, Emily and Martha Nimon, Jacob Parkinson, Jasmine Parkinson, Christopher Eric Firth, Nick Firth, Ryan Thompson, Adam Thompson, Elizabeth Parkinson, Sam Parkinson and Travis Parkinson. Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Woodruff, celebrant. Pallbearers will be Blake Doran, Alek Skillern, Cortney Smith, Rick Dansby, Joshua Clark and Travis Watkins. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. If desired memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Central Catholic School. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Elmer W. “Rusty” Sutton ODESSA — Elmer W. “Rusty” Sutton, 79, of Odessa passed away Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, in a local hospital. Mr. Sutton was born Feb. 25, 1921, in Wilson, Okla. He moved to Odessa in 1945 from Denver City. He was retired from oilfield sales and worked for H&R Block. He had been president of the Northside Senior Citizens’ Dance Club and enjoyed golf, fishing and playing cards. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma; and a son, Gary Lynn Sutton. He is survived by two daughters, Elaina Lance of Odessa and Vicky Trifon of Corpus Christi; one brother, John L. Sutton of Clairmore, Okla.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2000, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clydel Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
