Marshall Ivry Tarrant
ODESSA - Marshall Ivry Tarrant, age 86, of Odessa died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Aug. 16, 1914, in Itan to Marion and Gera Surles.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Crescent Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ernest Easley officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Tarrant graduated from high school in Cisco. He then married
Hannah Louise Rhodes, whom he met in high school. They moved to Odessa in 1942, where they raised their family. He was employed by Standard Oil, which later became Exxon, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Crescent Park Baptist Church, where he had been a Sunday school teacher and a deacon.
He is survived by his son, Mike Tarrant of Odessa, and three grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Thomas Briton Molder Jr.
TULSA, Okla. - Thomas Briton Molder Jr., age 75, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2001, at his home near Imperial.
Thomas was born in Shawnee, Okla., to Thomas and Clara Bertha Affentranger Molder. A retired oil producer, he had been a resident of West Texas for 30 years. He was a veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jerry B. Molder.
Surviving are his sons, Thomas B. Molder III, Ricky T. Molder and Randy L. Molder; daughter, Sonya Molder Reed; brothers, Leslie Leroy Molder and Fred Raymond Affentranger; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2001, at the Moore’s Rosewood Chapel in Tulsa, Okla. Interment will be at the Cleveland cemetery in Cleveland, Okla.

John H. Burton
MIDLAND - Graveside services for John H. Burton are scheduled for 11 a.m. today, March 27, 2001, at the Stanton cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Pipkin Funeral Home and Chapel.
John was born Aug. 16, 1913, in Hand County, S.D., to Almina Marthina Evenson and Arthur Edward Burton.
John entered the Army in 1941. He served in the Army Air Corps as a sergeant. He was stationed in San Antonio and Midland. He received an honorable discharge in 1945.
John married
Wanda Fay Wilson on Oct. 2, 1943, in Midland. John and Wanda made Midland their home. They shared 57 years together.
John worked for LeSage Beer and Lone Star Liquors for 20 years until his retirement. He also worked for the Midland Independent School District and Region 18 until his second retirement.
He loved his family, boating, fishing and camping out. He also loved fixing things and sitting on the front porch. He was a wonderful father who was adored by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members. Dad, or Papa John, was mischievous and had a great sense of humor. He gave us values and a positive outlook on life that has helped us to become better parents and better citizens. Hopefully, we will be able to pass these attributes on to our children. We will miss him very much.
John died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at a local hospital.
John was preceded in death by his three daughters, Shirley Burton, Sharley Burton and Charlotte Vasbinder; his grandson, David Keith Vasbinder; his granddaughter, Dodie Joe Burton; his parents; seven sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Fay Burton of Midland; his sons, Robert Burton and wife Jane of Midland and Randal Burton of Odessa; his three daughters, Marylin Morris and husband Jim of Odessa, Karen Gipson and husband Danny also of Odessa and D’Anne Henson and husband Randy of Midland; his grandsons, James Huggins Jr., Tony Lesley and wife Wendi, Larry Don Burton, Tracy Joe Henson, Benjamin Burton, Nicholas Burton, Chris McCall and Jeff Morris, all of Midland, Brandon Huggins and wife Sheri of Stanton and Cody Burton of Odessa; his granddaughters, Kedron Dean of Goldthwaite, Tammie Jo Hanson and husband Scott, Audra Brown and husband Jimmy, and Brooke Henson, all of Midland; his great-grandsons, Michael Gillis and Cody Dean, both of Goldthwaite, Christopher Linville of Elgin, Ore., John Eric Faught, Michael Lesley, Johnny Lesley, Braden Brown and Jimmy Brown, all of Midland, Kody Huggins and Spencer Huggins, both of Stanton; his great-granddaughters, Amanda Joy Dean of Goldthwaite, Elizabeth Hanson, Emily Marie Hanson and Crystalin Lesley, all of Midland; his sister, Mrs. Royal Bitner of Rapid City, S.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Winston Roxie Riggs
ODESSA - Winston Roxie Riggs was born to Solomon A. Shellenberger and Mary E. Wilson Shellenberger on Dec. 12, 1915, at home in Saragosa.
Roxie was the youngest child of 13 children. She attended Fort Stockton schools. Roxie married
Fowler Francis "Newt" Riggs on Jan. 1, 1938, in Fort Stockton by a Methodist preacher who gave their marriage license as a wedding gift.
They made their home in Fort Stockton for a few years before moving to Odessa. Both were employed at the Air Force Base during World War II, located where Midland International Airport is at present time. Later, Roxie worked as a county clerk, corporate bookkeeper, bank teller, helped "Newt" with a service station business and in later years was the owner of a mini-warehouse. Roxie and "Newt" moved to El Paso in the ’50s and "Newt" passed away there in 1963. Roxie returned to Odessa in 1966, working as a bank teller and owned a mini-warehouse business until her retirement. For many years, Roxie was a caregiver for four of her brothers. She also was a special caregiver to many of her nieces and nephews during their childhood and adulthood. Roxie was a member of First Baptist Church of Odessa.
Roxie was preceded in death by her parents, Solomon and Mary Shellenberger; five brothers, Solomon, Henry, Bill, Charlie and Walter; seven sisters, Ethel, Pearl, Beatrice, Alma, Lorena, Margery and Louise; and her husband, Fowler Francis "Newt" Riggs.
"Auntie" is survived by an abundance of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and a very special great-niece, Mary Elizabeth of Midland. She is also survived by a dear friend, Jenelle Heaton.
The family would like to thank three very special caregivers during "Auntie’s" illness, Kathy, Mary Lou and Teresa. We would also like to thank Home Hospice.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Max Copeland, Mike Pruitt, Butch Shellenberger, Donald Shellenberger, Jeff Taylor, Albert Shellenberger and Jim Tinkler.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dick Brown officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Rest Lawn Memorial Park in El Paso.
Visitation with the family will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Roxie passed away Sunday, March 25, 2001, at her residence after a long, courageous battle with congestive heart failure, arthritis and cancer.
The family requests that memorials may be directed to the charity of one’s choice or Home Hospice of Odessa, 516 N. Texas Ave., Odessa, Texas, 79761.

Bobby G. Scott
ODESSA - Bobby G. Scott, 61, of Odessa passed away Sunday, March 25, 2001, at a local hospital.
Mr. Scott was born Sept. 22, 1939, in Seagraves. His family moved to Odessa in 1948 where he graduated from Odessa High School in 1958. He attended Texas A&M and Corpus Christi State University and served in the U.S. Marine Reserves. He married
Ada Barry "Skeet" on March 13, 1981, in Odessa.
Mr. Scott had worked for Broncho Chevrolet for 19 years as a co-fleet manager. He will be deeply missed by all of his friends and family at Broncho Chevrolet and Frontier Mobile Housing.
Mr. Scott had been a member of First Baptist Church, the Odessa Optimist Club and was past president, contributor to the YMCA and a former member of the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang. He will be remembered as a very positive person who touched many, many lives in a positive way. He was a great husband and best friend and a wonderful father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Cicley Scott and his father, C.F. "Hoot" Gibson.
He is survived by his wife, Ada B. "Skeet" Scott of Odessa; two sons, Mark Scott and his wife Marla of Gardendale and Matthew Scott and his wife Angie of Odessa; two daughters, Lori Scott of Midland and Kay Lynn Lewis and her husband Mark of Odessa; his mother, Louise Gibson Jones of San Angelo; four brothers, Harlan Scott and his wife Linda of Gardendale, Fred Gibson and his wife Judy of Odessa, Eddie Scott and his wife Virginia of Lipscomb and Ronny Scott of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Rhonda Cutbirth and her husband Johnny of Cypress; five grandchildren, Heather, Scott, Cliff, Hunter and M’Kaylee Lewis; and numerous other family members and friends.
Public visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, March 27, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ernest Easley and Don Franklin officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the West Texas Cancer Center, Odessa Boys and Girls Club, M.D. Anderson or the Children’s and Youth Camp Scholarship Fund at First Baptist Church.

Ladell "Slim" Ellis
ODESSA - Ladell "Slim" Ellis, 84, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born Oct. 14, 1916, in Odessa. He married
Myrtle Kemp on July 21, 1937, in Odessa. He was an Army veteran and served in World War II. He had worked for B&B Construction Co. for many years. He was a member of the VFW, and he was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Ellis on Feb. 4, 2001; his parents, Pat and Irene Ellis; son, Jerry Ellis; brother, Dink Ellis; and sister, Patsy.
Survivors are his son, John Ellis of Odessa; daughters, Barbara Ellis of Dove Canyon, Calif., and Jan Topper of San Ramon, Calif.; brother, George Ellis of Scottsdale, Ariz.; sister, Irene Blevins of El Paso; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at Rose Hill cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
