Joe Rodriquez

PLAINVIEW - Joe Rodriquez, 95, of Plainview, a retired Hale County employee, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, in Odessa.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Iglesia Bautista Alpha Y Omega Church with the Rev. Glen Godsey officiating. Burial will be at Plainview Memorial Park. Arrangements by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home.

He was born in San Marcos and had lived in Odessa for seven years. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Margaretta Mata of Lubbock, Tommie Garcia and Mary Jane DeLeon, both of Odessa; 22 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Eugene Ronan

ODESSA - Eugene Ronan, 62, of Odessa died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at his residence.

Graveside services will be at 8 a.m. Friday at Ector County cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

SURVIVORS: None listed.

James Blakely

ODESSA - James Earl Blakely, 69, of Odessa died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at his residence.

Services are pending with Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Jack Jamison

ANDREWS - Jack Jamison, 63, of Andrews died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, in Andrews.

Services are pending with McNett Funeral Home.

Marvin Lewis

ODESSA - Marvin Lewis, 74, of Odessa died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at his residence.

Services are pending with Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Effie Brazle

ODESSA - Effie Maude Brazle, 83, of Odessa, a retired sales clerk, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home with the Rev. Dewey Blevins officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Fayette County, Ill., and moved to Odessa two months ago from Effingham, Ill. She was a member of the Church of God.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Pam Surratt of Odessa, Marcean Kaylor of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Carolyn Braasch of Effingham, Ill., and Brenda Roberts of Tallahassee, Fla; brother, Ralph Long of Keysport, Ill.; sisters, Madonna Shane of Little Rock, Ark., and Joan Jabert of Smithboro, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Jesus Gonzales

FORT STOCKTON - Jesus "Jessie" Gonzales, 45, of Pecos, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, in Pecos.

Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Vasquez officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.

He was born in Fort Stockton. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Norma Martinez of Pecos; sons, Jeffrey Gonzales of Fort Stockton and Jason Carrillo of Odessa; stepson, David Licon of Odessa; daughter, Abigail Carrillo of Odessa; stepdaughters, Crissy Licon and Elani Martinez, both of Pecos; mother, Enedina Barron of Fort Stockton; brother, Hector Gonzales of Fort Stockton; sisters, Lila Martinez of Del Rio and Tina Mercado of Fort Stockton; and two grandchildren.

L.W. Love

LLANO - L.W. "Len" Love, 89, of Amarillo, a retired employee of Hemphill County, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Llano East cemetery with Alden White officiating. Arrangements by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

He was born in Ellis County, Okla., and moved to Amarillo in 1981. He was Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Pat Arnbrecht of Woodward, Okla., Mary Lou Kennedy of Odessa, and Fern Evans and Ginger Baros, both of Amarillo; sister, Lucille Merilatt of Pampa; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Sofia Ortiz

ALPINE - Sofia C. Ortiz, 90, of Alpine, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, in an El Paso hospital.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Geeslin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Holy Angels cemetery. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.

She was born in Alpine.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Sofia Chavez of El Paso; and a grandson.

Enrique Quezada

ODESSA - Enrique "Ricky" R. Quezada, 13, of Odessa died Friday, November 24, 2000, at his residence.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

He was born in Pecos and moved to Odessa in 1997 from Pecos.

SURVIVORS: Parents, Prudencio and Enriqueta Quezada; brother, Carlos; sisters, Cindy, Emma, Rosemary, and Judy, all of Odessa; grandfather, Cheno Quezada of Pecos; and grandmother, Emma Ramirez of Pecos.

Wayne Turner

COLEMAN - Wayne Turner, 78, of Coleman died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at his residence.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Mountain View cemetery with the Rev. Gary Johnston officiating. Arrangements by Walker Funeral Home.

He was born in Temple, Okla., and had lived in Coleman since 1986. He was an Air Force veteran. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Ruby J. Turner of Coleman; sons Eddie Turner, Dannie Turner and Larry Turner, all of Coleman; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Wayne "Ken" Arends

ODESSA - Kenneth Wayne "Ken" Arends was born on March 26, 1952, in Big Spring to Clarence L. and Claudie Dennis Arends. He passed away Saturday, July 31, 1999, in Abilene.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Strempke of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Ken was raised in Odessa, attending school here and graduating from Permian High School in 1970. He married Linda Shelton on Jan. 1, 1974, in Midland. They lived in Odessa 14 years before moving to Abilene in 1996. He enjoyed his children and was active as a T-Ball and Little League coach. He also enjoyed working with wood; his favorite was oak. He had produced beautiful pieces of furniture for his friends and family. Mr. Arends was employed as regional manager for Centennial Moisture Control for the last two years.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Kaye Arends of Abilene; his son and daughter, Sean and Kacie Arends of Abilene; his parents, Clarence and Claudie Arends of Odessa; his brother, Dennis Lee Arends of Houston; his sister, Janice Stephens of Odessa; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
